John E. Conners
Plattsburgh — John E. Conners, 68, of Johnson Avenue, died
Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in
Plattsburgh.
He was born in Albany on March 11, 1932, son of the late Joseph
and Mary (Ellis) Conners.
John was a member of St. John's Church in Plattsburgh, a
veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post
20 in Plattsburgh.
John was a graduate of St. John's Academy in Plattsburgh and
had been employed by Carpenter Brother's Moving and Storage for
over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Suzanne (Carpenter)
Conners of Plattsburgh; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and
Janice Conners of Sailburgy, N.C.; two sisters and 2
brothers-in-law, Mary and Donald Bullis of West Plattsburgh and
Fran and Russell Vacanti of Buffalo; a brother, Edward Conners of
Plattsburgh; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Anthony; and many
nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by a son, Anthony Mark Conners on April 4,
1962; and a brother, Msgr. Kevin Conners.
Calling hours will be on Sunday evening, Dec. 17, 2000, from 6
to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Members of the
American Legion Post 20 will meet on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. at
Brown Funeral Home for services. A Mass of Christian burial will
be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. from St. John's Church
in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later next year in Mount Carmel
Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
Donations in his memory may be made to St. John's Endowment
Fund.
John R. Lacy Sr.
LAKE PLACID — John R. Lacy Sr., 85, of Lake Placid, passed
away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at the Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake
Placid after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Lacy was a carpenter by trade and he built many homes in
Lake Placid from 1947 until his retirement in 1988.
Mr. Lacy was born in Whallonsburg on Dec. 25, 1914, the son of
William and Lottie (Cooley) Lacey.
Mr. Lacy joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's
during the Depression. He served in the Victoria Rifles Unit of
the Canadian Army until he joined the U.S. Army in March 1941. He
was wounded on the island of Leyte and was honorably discharged as
a technical sergeant earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Mr. Lacy was a member of the American Legion Post 326.
John is survived by his wife, the former Eleanor Levitt of Lake
Placid; three children, Lloyd Levitt and close friend, Charlotte;
Katherine Schissler and husband Frank and John Lacy Jr. and his
wife Kerry all of Lake Placid. He is also survived by a sister,
Irene Hulse; and a brother, Herbert Lacey, both of Willsboro; two
grandchildren, David Schissler of Courtland and Jessica Levitt of
Lake Placid. There are also two step-grandchildren, Erin and Shane
Rabideau of Lake Placid; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be
held in the North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid on Sunday, Dec. 17,
at 1 p.m. Rev. Kenneth Mihill, pastor of the Adirondack Church of
the Nazarene will officiate. Military honors will be provided at
the graveside by the 10th Mountain Division from Fort Drum.
The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of
arrangements.
Flora M. Fountain
Plattsburgh — Flora M. Fountain, 81, of Durand Road, died
Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in
Plattsburgh.
She was born in Clayburg on August 5, 1919, daughter of the
late Charles and Celina (LaFountain) Corron.
Flora was a retired bus driver for Beekmantown Central School
and a member of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. She enjoyed
reading and walking.
Flora is survived by a son, Brian Fountain of Plattsburgh;
three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy and Robert Remchuk of
West Chazy, Karen Fountain of Plattsburgh and Susan and Harlan
Hebert of Ellenburg Depot; six grandchildren, Connie Remchuk,
Gordon Remchuk, Robert Remchuk, Nevin Hebert, Brian Fountain and
Amanda Fountain; a brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Florence
Corron of Beekmantown; three sisters, Agnes Myers of Redford, Lela
Provost of Plattsburgh and Florence Botten of Plattsburgh; five
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Flora was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gordon H.
Fountain on June 13, 2000, they were married on June 29, 1942, in
St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh; a brother, Remie Corron ; and a
sister, Anna Manley.
Calling hours will be on Friday, December 15, 2000, from 10 to
11:45 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 15, at noon
from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later next
year in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart
Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Laurence E. "Larry" King
Keeseville — Laurence E. "Larry" King, 57, of
Chesterfield Street in Keeseville, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at
the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Ellenburg Depot on March 14, 1943, the son of
Raymond G. and Eunice (Duprey) King.
Larry was employed at Pepsi Cola in Keeseville for 20 years. He
then worked for Noel J. Brunell & Son from 1990 until the time
of his death.
He was a past member of the Keeseville Volunteer Fire
Department, the Rescue Squad and of the Keeseville Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his father, Raymond King of Keeseville; his
wife, Linda King of Plattsburgh; two sons and one daughter-in-law,
Staff Sgt. Scott and Cherie King of Clarksville, Tenn., and Todd
King of Keeseville; and two grandsons, Jacob and Joseph King of
Clarksville, Tenn.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. to
noon at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A funeral Mass
will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in
Keeseville with Rev. Garvin Demarais, pastor, celebrating. Burial
will be in the spring in the St. Augustine's Cemetery in Peru.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Keeseville Fire
Department or Rescue Squad.
Kathleen (Kate) R. O’Shaugnessy, 22, of River Crest Drive
in Massena, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at the Massena Memorial
Hospital.
Friends may call on Friday, Dec. 15, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. Funeral services
will be on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the Church of
Sacred Heart.
Leland Mulbury of Middleburgh, formerly of Peru and Port
Kent, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at home after a long illness.
Mr. Mulbury was born in Cooksburg on Jan. 20, 1921.
Burial was in the Potter Hollow Cemetery.
The Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home in Middleburgh was in
charge of arrangements.
Mary Jane Hawkins, 83, of Main Street, died Thursday, Dec.
14, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
Arrangements were incomplete Thursday evening with the Lester
E. Thew Funeral Home in Peru.

Thomas Carella
Elizabethtown — Tom Carella, 81, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000,
following surgery at the Willard Filmore Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.
He was born in N.Y.C. and was a veteran of World War II. After
retiring from the Post Office in N.Y.C. he moved to Elizabethtown
where he became a member of the ambulance squad, the Masons and
the American Legion.
Tom enjoyed playing golf.
He is survived by his wife, Terry; their three sons, Thomas and
his wife, Cheryl of Texas, Robert and his wife, Deb of Ind. and
James and his wife, Liz of East Rochester, N.Y.; five
grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Wren of Astoria, N.Y.C.
He was cremated in Buffalo. There will be a memorial service on
Friday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in
Elizabethtown.
Frederick G. Kuehl , 93, of
Apalachicola Island, near Fort Walton Beach, Fla., died Thursday,
Dec. 7, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Manhattan on July 19, 1907, the son of Ernest
and Anna (Seebold) Kuehl.
A memorial service will be held at the Hurlburt Field Chapel at
the Eglin Air Force Base in Fla.

Lars R. Webber
Plattsburgh — Devin T. Webber and Lars R. Webber, twin sons
of Chad J. Webber and Holly N. Vaughan, died Sunday, Dec. 10,
2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
Devin and Lars are survived by their parents, of Plattsburgh;
their maternal grandparents, Thomas H. and Deborah L. Vaughan of
Plattsburgh; paternal grandparents, Rick Webber and his wife,
Connie of Plattsburgh and Robin Webber of Plattsburgh; maternal
great-grandmother, Helen Vaughan of Plattsburgh; maternal
great-grandparents, Gervis Macey and his wife, Helen of
Plattsburgh and Sylvia Macey of Plattsburgh; paternal
great-grandmother, Geraldine Trombley of Schuyler Falls; paternal
great-grandparents, Harold Webber and his wife, Jan of Deltona,
Fla., and Shirley Ralph and her husband, Wayne of Ingles, Fla.;
and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours will be on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, from 9:30 to

Titus E. Coleman
Plattsburgh — Titus E. Coleman, 72, of Pellerin Road, died
Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in New Haven, Conn., on May 18, 1928, the daughter
of Michael and Ida (Hintz) O'Keefe.
Titus was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Treadwells Mills
and the St. Joseph's Church Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of
the Sweet Adeline's and a volunteer for Cooperative Extension and
4-H. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and music.
Titus is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donald P. Coleman
of Plattsburgh; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronald P.
Coleman of Morrisonville, Andrew J. and Cheryl Coleman of
Plattsburgh, Michael A. and Carol Coleman of Plattsburgh and
William E. Coleman of Plattsburgh; three daughters and a
son-in-law, Donna E. Duquette of Morrisonville, Cheryl A. and Sam
Blanchard of Reber and Gail C. Coleman of Plattsburgh; one
brother, David Wrinn of New Haven, Conn.; seven grandchildren,
Roxanne, Kathleen, Kenneth, Sarah, Katie, Colleen and Jennifer;
two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 4 and 7
to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of

Barbara M. Cumm
Plattsburgh — Barbara M. Cumm, 69, of the Terrace West Way
Apartments in Plattsburgh, formerly of Dannemora, passed away
Monday evening, Dec. 11, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center after a
long battle with emphysema and cancer.
Born on July 20, 1931, in Morrisonville, she was the daughter
of Alvina Bill and the late Leo Sweeney.
She married Kenneth "Joe" Cumm on October 1, 1949.
They had been married for 39 years at the time of his death on May
2, 1979.
Barb was a graduate of Dannemora High School. She was employed
for 12 years at Collins Pharmacy and then Maggy's Pharmacy. She
then worked at Baker's Pharmacy in Plattsburgh and later became a
successful Avon representative winning many sales awards.
In addition to her father and husband, she is predeceased by
her step-father, Curtis Bill; mother-in-law, Josephine Cumm;
sister-in-law, Marguerite Cumm and brothers-in-law, John Quante
and Albert Reyell.
She is survived by her mother, Alvina Bill; her children, Tom
Cumm and his wife, Lynn of Gansevoort, N.Y., Tina Gray and her
husband, Gordon of Merrimack, N.H., and Mary Lynn Cumm and her
fiancé, Elvis Rascoe of Plattsburgh; four grandchildren, Shana
and Shaun Cumm of Gansevoort, Jesse Lloyd of Plattsburgh and
Deanna Henrichs and her husband, Joshua; and two
step-grandchildren, Rick Lloyd and Brenda Hite. She is also
survived by her sisters, Beverly Quante of Denver, Colo., Shirley
Reyell of Schuyler Falls and Carolyn Tompkins and her husband,
Charles of Plattsburgh; her brother, Thomas Sweeney and his wife,
Dorie of Morrisonville; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be concelebrated at St. Joseph’s
Church in Dannemora on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at 10 a.m. with
Rev. John Looby and Rev. Gilbert Menard officiating. Burial will
be in the parish cemetery in the spring.
At the request of Barbara, there will be no calling hours.
Following the Mass, friends may join the family for a reception in
the church hall hosted by the St. Joseph's Bereavement Committee.

Linus E. Drollette
PLATTSBURGH — Linus E. Drollette, 46, of Rt. 9 North, died
Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Ticonderoga on May 15, 1954, the son of Linus S.
and Geraldine (Courtney) Drollette.
Mr. Drollette was a correction officer at the Clinton
Correctional Facility from 1977 to 1991, when he retired due to
illness. He also worked as a cook at Hitchcock’s Restaurant for
several years until retiring this past summer.
Mr. Drollette was a volunteer at the Salvation Army Soup
Kitchen and was a black belt in Shorin Ru Shorin Kan Karate.
Survivors include his wife, the former Rebecca Rock of
Beekmantown; two sons, Linus C. Drollette and his companion, Liz
Hatch of Plattsburgh and Emmett E. Drollette of Beekmantown; one
daughter, Carol Seymour and her husband, Michael of Schuyler
Falls; and two grandchildren, Troy M. Seymour of Schuyler Falls
and Tai-Ann G. Hatch of Plattsburgh.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of
Christian burial will be held on Friday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. at

Douglas Straight, 73, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000,
at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 17, 1927, the son of Clark
and Laura (Williams) Straight.
Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid on
Thursday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be an
American Legion Prayer service at the funeral home at 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be on Friday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. at the
funeral home. Burial will follow in the North Elba Cemetery.

Elizabeth "Bette" Mero
Rouses Point — Elizabeth "Bette" Mero went to meet
God on Dec. 10, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center.
She was born in Detroit, Mich., on Sept. 23, 1927, the daughter
of Lewis and Ann (LeBlanc) Olney.
While in grade school, Bette attended a one room schoolhouse
where she skipped two grades. Therefore, she graduated from
Franklin Academy in Malone at 15 years of age. In high school, she
was very active in the band, orchestra and choir. She passed her
love of music on to her children and grandchildren.
Bette was a 54-year member of the Catholic Daughters of
America, having served as Grand Regent for two separate terms. She
was president of the Dodge Memorial Library Board of Trustees for
25 years. Bette also served on the Clinton, Franklin, Essex
Library Board and Clinton County Historical Association Directors
Board.
In early years, she served as Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den
mother and president of Assessment and Board of Review for the
Town of Champlain. She worked as an account clerk in the Rouses
Point Village Office for 23 years and was a member of the Clinton
County Democratic Party for 25 years.
Bette was a charter member of the Rouses Point Firemen's
Auxiliary. In the last few years, Bette truly enjoyed reading
books to the first graders each week.
Her greatest life achievements were her four children who
survive her and their spouses, Merrie Mero Nautel and Allan of
Rouses Point, Marc and Christine Mero of Rouses Point, Hal and
Linda Mero of Morrisonville and Elizabeth "Buffy" Little
and Bill of Rouses Point. She is also survived by six
grandchildren, Matthew and wife Becky Mero, Jessica Mero LaRoche
and husband Eric, Lindsey and Andrew Parent, Ashley Mero, Michelle
Little and one great-grandson, Kobe LaRoche.
Her husband of 49 years, Harold Mero, predeceased her on Jan.
12, 1997.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will
be held at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point at 11 a.m. on
Friday, Dec. 15, 2000.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to
Hospice of the North Country.

Glori-Ann M. Smith
Plattsburgh — Glori-Ann M. Smith, 65, of Waterhouse Street,
died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center.
She was born on May 5, 1935, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, the
daughter of Arthur and Caroline (Beaulieu) Deshenes.
Glori-Ann was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. She
married Robert Smith on May 5, 1962, in Champlain.
Survivors include her husband Robert of Plattsburgh; one son
and daughter-in-law, David and Jennifer Smith of West Henrietta,
N.Y.; a granddaughter, Lauren Smith; three brothers and a
sister-in-law, Leon and Bertha Deshenes of Madawaska, Maine, her
twin, George Deshenes of Edmundston, New Brunswick, and Reno
Deshenes of Connecticut; and one sister, Stella Doepker of
California.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Conrad and John Deshenes.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A vigil
service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. A
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m.
at Our Lady of Victory Church. Burial will be in the spring at
Glenwood Cemetery in Champlain.

Justine A. Siaskiewicz
Willsboro — Justine A. Siaskiewicz, 89, died Monday, Dec. 11,
2000, at the Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown.
She and her husband Henry made their home in Willsboro. He
predeceased her in 1998.
Mrs. Siaskiewicz was born in Schenectady on Oct. 15, 1911, the
daughter of Henry and Vilma Smida.
She was a member of the Altar Rosary and the Catholic Daughters
Court St. Joan of Arc 867.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Scott
Lenihan of Whitehall and a granddaughter, Caitlin Lenihan of
Philadelphia, Pa., as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Joseph Corcoran and Henry
Siaskiewicz; a sister, Josephine Van Deusen; and two brothers,
Emil and Henry Smida.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Philip's Church in Willsboro
on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at 2 p.m.
in Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the
Willsboro Rescue Squad or the Catholic Daughters.
The Huestis Funeral Home of Willsboro is in charge of

Donna J. McCormick
Saranac Lake — Donna J. McCormick, 56, of Duprey Street in
Saranac Lake, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at the Adirondack
Medical Center at Saranac Lake.
She was born on Sept. 21, 1944, in Saranac Lake, the daughter
of Alfred and Corinne (Woodruff) Moody.
Mrs. McCormick had been a life-long resident of Saranac Lake
and along with her husband Richard, was co-owner of K&M Auto
Repair for many years. She enjoyed the ocean, fishing, boating,
camping, traveling, swimming and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Richard B. McCormick, whom she
married Sept. 21, 1963; one daughter, Mrs. David (Dawn) Gaskins of
Saranac Lake; one son, Jeffrey McCormick and his wife Janelle of
Saranac Lake; four grandchildren, Josh Colby, Jenna and Derek
Gaskins and Alicia Smith; her mother and father of Saranac Lake;
two brothers, Rodney Moody and his wife Donna of Chazy Lake and
Alfred Moody and his wife Mary Lou of Saranac Lake; and several
nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the
Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Bible vigil will be
held Tuesday at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held
Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church. Interment will be
in St. Bernard's Cemetery in May.

Frank C. Nels
Crown Point — Frank C. Nels, 89, died Wednesday, Dec. 6,
2000, at his home on Main Street in Crown Point.
He was born in Purseglove, W.Va., on Dec. 3, 1911, to Polish
immigrant parents, John Gwozdziewicz and Kate (Kology) Nels.
Mr. Nels worked at the Crown Point Fish Hatchery for 40 years.
He also worked at the canteen at the Crown Point Drive-In Theater.
Most of his younger years were busy with the Crown Point Fire
Department. He was a fire chief for many years as well as fire
commissioner.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing at the lake and puttering in his
shop. Another enjoyable hobby was wine making.
He was married to the former Julia Petro of Mineville for 54
years. She predeceased him in 1991.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and
Fred White of Malone and Jackie and Joe Vezina of South
Burlington, Vt.; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Being the eldest of eight children, he is survived by two
brothers, Benjamin and his wife Dolores of Syracuse and Stanley of
Crown Point; two sisters, Mary Mazurowski and her husband Charles
of Crown Point and Anna Wojewodzic of Port Henry.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, John and Walter.
A memorial Mass was held on Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at the Sacred
Heart Church in Crown Point.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Crown
Point Fire Department or the Crown Point Rescue Squad.
Alyce E. Toft
Owego — Alyce E. Toft, 42, of Owego and formerly of
Plattsburgh, died on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, as a result of an
automobile accident.
Alyce was born on Apr. 17, 1958, in Plattsburgh. She graduated
from Beekmantown High School and Schenectady County Community
College.
Before moving to Owego, she worked for Marriott Corporation in
Texas and New Hampshire. She was the cook/manager for the Owego
School District and was currently employed as the food service
manager for the Candor School District. Alyce is a member of St.
Patrick's Church of Owego.
She is predeceased by her father, Joseph Perry and her brother,
James Perry.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Toft, of Owego; two
sons, Jeremy and Joseph Toft, both of Owego; a grandson, Corbyn;
her mother, Dorothy Perry, formerly of Plattsburgh; two sisters
and brothers-in-law, Linda Barber-Wattie and John Wattie of
Plattsburgh and Susan and Paul Taliga of Hazelton, Pa.; and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Estey & Munroe Funeral Home, 15
Park Street, Owego, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's
Church in Owego, with the Rev. William Moorby officiating. Burial
will follow in the parish cemetery.

memory to the Alyce E. Toft Memorial Fund, care of Tioga State

Rita B. McBride
Peru — Rita B. McBride, 76, of Brown Trailer Court, died
Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was born on July 29, 1924, in Lyon Mountain, the daughter
of James R. Sr. and Mary (Cordick) Grogan.
She married Vernon "Mac"' McBride in 1953 in St.
John's Rectory in Plattsburgh. Mr. McBride died Apr. 22, 1983.
Rita was a member of St. Augustine’s Church and the Merry
Lyoneers Senior Citizens of Lyon Mountain. She was also an avid
bingo player.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Eileen Kaska of Lyon
Mountain; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ola Grogan of Malone and Mrs.
Lucille Grogan of Plattsburgh; and many cousins, nieces and
nephews.
Four brothers, William, James, Daniel and John Grogan and six
sisters, Catherine Ryan, Charlotte Stacavich, Mary LaVigne, Nellie
Welch, Margaret Elsasser and Gertrude Gosselin, predeceased her.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. and on
Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home
in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on
Thursday at noon in St. Augustine's Church. Burial will be in the
spring in the parish cemetery.
Rusty V. Green , 38, of Plattsburgh,
died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Lake Placid on Jan. 2, 1962.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will
be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the Church of the Assumption
in Redford. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale
in the spring.

Julia "Judy" "J.R." Reynolds, 54, of
Main Street in Brushton, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at her home,
while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North
Country, Inc.
She was born in Malone on July 28, 1946, the daughter of the
late Arthur C. and Alice M. (Roach) Reynolds.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in
the spring at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in North Lawrence.

Leona Luther, 88, of Pine Tree Drive in Keeseville, died
Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born on Apr. 6, 1912, in Brooklyn.

Joseph's Church in Keyport, N.J.

Paul Albert LaMoy, 80, of Dugal Road in Tupper Lake, died
Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at Mercy Healthcare Center in Tupper Lake.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1919, in Tupper Lake, the son of Levi
and Elnora (Ormsby) LaMoy.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on
Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A
funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at

Urgil T. Votraw
Guilderland — Urgil T. Votraw, 66 of
Guilderland, died suddenly Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Plattsburgh and resided in the
Albany area since 1977.
Mr. Votraw retired after a 33-year career in
public service with the New York State Department of Correctional
Services.
He was the father of Tim Votraw of
Voorheesville, Scott Votraw of Albany and Karen Seigle of
Montpelier, Vt. He was the loving companion of Hildy Magin.

Roderick W. Moore
MORRISONVILLE — Roderick W. Moore, 56, of the
Baker Road, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000 at CVPH Medical Center in
Plattsburgh.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 4, 1944,
the son of William and Mabel (Bradley) Moore.
Roderick was a corrections officer at Clinton
Correctional Facility in Dannemora for 30 years, retiring in
September of this year. He was an Army veteran, serving in Korea.
Roderick belonged to the Upstate Investment Club and the Ham Radio
Club.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; four
children, Michelle Watson and her husband Michael, Laura LaTour
and her husband Hank, Roderick Moore II, Brian Martin and his
fiance Tracie Durrin; six grandchildren, Austin, Alex, Hailey,
Devin, Andrew, and Nicole; three sisters, Virginia Johnston,
Beverly Ripley, Cheryl Verseput; two brothers-in-law, James Sears,
Jeff Sears and his wife, Sue; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Renadette
and her husband Ronnie; his mother and father-in-law, Charles and
Theresa Sears.
Services will be private at the convenience of
the family. Burial will be in West Plattsburgh Union Cemetery at a
later date. Donations may be made to the charity of choice.

Howard A. Gilkerson
NORTHBORO, MASS. — Howard A. Gilkerson, 82,
of Northboro, Mass., died at the Porter Medical Center in
Middlebury, Vt., on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, following a long
illness.
He was born May 25, 1918 in Franklin, N.H., the
son of the late Arthur Vernon Gilkerson and Maybelle Arlette
(Howard) Gilkerson.
He graduated from Franklin High School,
Franklin, N.H., and Wentworth Institute in Boston, Mass.
He was employed as a tool and die maker at
Norton Abrasive Co. in Worcester, Mass., for 40 years.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist
Church in Northboro and also a master mason of the Siloam Lodge
F&AM in Westboro, Mass.
After retirement he spent many long, happy
years thoroughly enjoying his wife of sixty years, Audrey Louise
(Young) Gilkerson. He is survived by his son Bruce Vernon
Gilkerson, daughter Heather L. Chapdelaine and grandchildren
Joseph and Kevin Gilkerson, John R. Chapdelaine, Maria L.
(Chapdelaine) Leister and Joseph D. Chapdelaine.
His legacies that will always be remembered by
everyone who knew him include his outstanding qualities of
loyalty, honesty, strong work ethic, strength, gentleness, love of
the outdoors, fishing, spending quality time with his loved ones,
and a generous heart filled with loving kindness. He is sadly
missed by the members of his family and lovingly remembered by all
who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers
donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services will be held at the First
Congregational Church in Crown Point, N.Y., on Tuesday, Dec. 12,
2000 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Brian Kimble officiating.
Joseph Arthur Thompson
TICONDEROGA — Joseph Arthur Thompson, 77, of
Corduroy Road, passed away Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000 at Fletcher
Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.
Born in Ticonderoga on May 24, 1923, he was the
son of the late Albert and Blanche (Rafferty) Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was a lifetime resident of
Ticonderoga and was a member of the First United Methodist Church
of Ticonderoga.
He was employed by the International paper
Company of Ticonderoga for 42 years until his retirement on June
1, 1988. He was a member of the company’s Quarter Century Club.
Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the U.S. Marines,
having served during Word War II.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoors in the
Adirondacks. Most important to him was his love for his family.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Gloria
Peeters and Gwendelyn St. Johns.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Amy E.
(Monroe) Thompson; three daughters, Donna S. Belcher of Sanford,
Fla., Debra A. Harris of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Denise B.
Rafferty of Madison, Tenn.; three sons, Joseph D. Thompson of
Chestertown, David A. Thompson of Cambridge and Dale A. Thompson
of West Chazy; three brothers, John Thompson of Canton, Albert
Thompson and Stephen Thompson, both of Ticonderoga; and four
sisters, Geraldine Davis of Ticonderoga, Marion Lindstrand of
Glens Falls, Patricia Nadeau of Ticonderoga, and Nancy Carr of
Moriah. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call today from 3 to
5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 33
Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.
A funeral service will take place Tuesday,
10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga.

Iron Avenue, Chateaugay, died Dec. 9, 2000, at Alice Hyde Medical
Center in Malone.
Born in Chateaugay on Nov. 18, 1918, he was the
son of Alexander and Elisabeth (Harvey) King.

Poirier of Plattsburgh; two brothers, John Inman of Germany and

— Shirley K. Ford (Griffith), 79, of Pine Street, died Friday,
Dec. 8, 2000, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility in
Plattsburgh.
She was
born in Chazy on Oct. 26, 1921, the daughter of the late Ovid and
Maria (Beste) Wool.
Mrs. Ford
graduated from Chazy Central School in 1937. She worked for
several local restaurants and establishments most of her life,
retiring in 1981. She was best known for her great sense of humor
and quick wit. She will be dearly missed by her family and many
friends.
She is
survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Christine
Ford of Silver Spring, Md., and John and Susan Ford of
Plattsburgh; one daughter, Diana Dow of Massena; and six
grandchildren.
She is
predeceased by her first husband, Norman D. Ford, who died July 4,
1970. On Oct. 26, 1983, she married Wilson K. Griffith, who died
on Aug. 17, 1991.

Texas — Mr. Leonard Joseph Dominy, 57, of Euless, Texas, died
Dec. 8, 2000, at his home.
He was
born on June 2, 1943, the son of William and Evelyn (Houle)
Dominy.
Leonard
was a graduate of Beekmantown Central School in 1962. He had
worked for the past 17 years for Cascade Linen and Uniform Service
in Dallas, Texas, as a route representive.
He
enjoyed visiting and spending time with his family. He also
enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Leonard
is survived by his mother, Evelyn (Houle) Wells of Plattsburgh;
four brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilfred and Connie Dominy of
Melbourne, Fla., George and Chomg Mi Dominy of Peoria, Ariz., Bill
and Cindy Dominy of West Chazy and Ronald and Tracy Dominy of
Terrebonne, Ore.; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Randy
and Rose (Dominy) Snipes of Arlington, Texas, David and Julie
(Dominy) Davidson of Bushnell, Fla., Theresa (Dominy) Rougier of
Plattsburgh, Gary and Brenda (Dominy) Montpelier of West Chazy and
Margaret (Dominy) Barratt of Memphis, Tenn.; one aunt and uncle
and 21 nieces and nephews also survive him.
He was
predeceased by his father, who died in 1962.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 14,
2000, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Burial will
