ROBERT ANDREW KLEIN, Th. D

COHOES — Robert Andrew Klein, Th. D, 84, of Cohoes, died peacefully at the Teresian House in Albany after a long illness.

He was born in Oak Park, Ill., the son of the late Jacob and Cora Klein.

He lived in Oak Park through his High School years and graduated from Aurora University in Ill. with honors in 1941. During World War II, he served in the Army as Chaplain in the 176th Station Hospital in Saipan for 2 1/2 years and was discharged in 1946.

Upon his return to civilian life, he entered Garret Seminary in Evanston, Ill., graduating with a BD degree in 1949. After serving churches in Ill., he moved to Denver, Colo., where he entered the Iliff School of Theology, a United Methodist Seminary. In 1951, the degree of doctor of theology was conferred upon him.

He served the United Methodist Church for his 55 years in the ministry including churches in Northport, Valley Stream, Plattsburgh, Scotia and Beacon. At the request of his bishop, he also served churches in AuSable Forks and Hyndsville after his retirement in 1983.

Robert was active in the Plattsburgh Rotary, a number of boards and committees in the conferences of the United Methodist Church and in 1971 was a delegate to the World Methodist Conference in Denver. For the past 11 years, he has been a part time chaplain at the Stratton Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Geraldine B. (Ericson) Klein; four children, Richard E. Klein of Albany, Roger W. Klein of Katy, Texas, Paul E. Klein of Clifton Park and Edith Harrell of Bradenton, Fla. He is the brother of George W. Klein of Spring Arbor, Mich., Dorothy Jones of Indianapolis, Ind., and Kenneth Klein of Fairfax, Va. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Teresian House, 200 Washington Avenue Ext. in Albany.

Pamela Bizzell

Baltimore, Md. — A memorial service for Pamela Joan Bizzell, 53, of Mount Airy, Md., and formerly of Severn, Md., was held on Dec. 5, 2000, at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway.

Mrs. Bizzell died from complications of surgery Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a one-year illness.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 21, 1947, the daughter of Wanda and Francis LaBarge and spent her early years here. She was a 1964 graduate of Plattsburgh High School.

She lived in several places overseas with her husband while he served in the U.S. Air Force and then they lived in Severn for 18 years. They lived in Mount Airy for one month.

Mrs. Bizzell worked as a head teller for Tower Federal Credit Union for eight years. She was also a homemaker.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, traveling and spending time with her grandsons.

Survivors include her husband, Patrick L. Bizzell of Mount Airy; one son, Patrick F. Bizzell of Columbia, Md.; one daughter, Laura Mendez of Severn; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Gary and Teresa LaBarge of Cohoes, Keith and Sharon LaBarge of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Randall and Dawn LaBarge of Milton, Vt.; one sister, Cheryl Colins of West Chazy; and five grandsons, Josh, Joseph and Jeremy Mendez and Andrew and Samuel Bizzell.

Interment is private.

Shirley A. Colgan

Ellenburg Depot — Shirley A. Colgan, 58, of Rt. 11 in Ellenburg Depot, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, where she had been a patient since Nov. 10.

Born in Mooers Forks on May, 13,1942, she was the daughter of Harvey and Lena (Gadway) Hart.

She was married to Thomas Colgan on April 27, 1963. He predeceased her on June 12, 2000.

Mrs. Colgan is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila & Dale Goodrow of Owls Head; a son, lan Colgan of Albany; a brother, George Hart of Ellenburg Depot; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Catherine & Carl Nephew of Ellenburg Depot and Clara Nephew of Mooers Forks.

Those that preceded in death beside her husband were her parents and a brother, Kenneth Hart.

Shirley was employed by Wyeth-Ayerst in Rouses Point for 38 years as a secretary before retiring in 1997. She enjoyed camping, traveling and her home in Florida.

She was a communicant of St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg, a member of St. Edmund's Altar and Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters Court Little Rose where she served as past regents chapter.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Dec. 10, at Chateaugay Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, in St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg, with Rev. Joseph Trombley and Rev. Richard Colgan officiating.

Entombment will take place at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Ellenburg Depot.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Mooers Rescue Squad or the American Cancer Society.

William Olin Tart Jr.

Syracuse — William Olin Tart Jr., 46, of Miles Avenue in Syracuse, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in Syracuse.

He was born in Albany on March 14, 1954, the son of William and Eleanor Tart and resided in Plattsburgh before moving to Syracuse.

He received his B.A. from Sienna College in 1976 and was also a graduate of UNIFIRST Management Institute. He was employed as a sales manager of UNIFIRST Corp. since 1992. He was named Sales Manager of the Year 2000 in the U.S. for UNIFIRST.

He was a communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, a member of the Elks and an avid golfer participating in many leagues in the Syracuse area.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Gerka; two daughters, Courtney and Lindsay Tart of Long Island; his parents, William and Eleanor Tart of Plattsburgh; his grandmother, Clara Tart of Essex; two sisters, Michele Pendergraft of Va. and Suzanne Tart of Calif.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, Dec. 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home in Syracuse. Services will be held on Monday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse. Interment will be in the Assumption Cemetery.

Florence A. Bruno

Schuyler Falls — Florence A. Bruno, 87, of Schuyler Falls, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Schuyler Falls on January 10, 1913, the daughter of John and Evaline (Jacque) Brelia.

Mrs. Bruno graduated from Peru High School.

She married Clarence Bruno Sr. on Jan. 30, 1931. They were married for 54 years. He died on Dec. 26, 1985.

Her joy in life was her devotion to the church and the care and love she bestowed upon her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin "Bob" and Theresa Bruno of Morrisonville, Clarence Jr. and Joyce Bruno of Hudson Falls, John and Joan Bruno of Schuyler Falls and Gerald "Joe" and Ellen Bruno of Schuyler Falls; two daughters and one son-in-law, Shirley and Ralph Bowman of Carthage and Beverly Varano of Plattsburgh; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law and his wife, Vernon and June Bruno of Morrisonville; three sisters-in-law, Nedra Gadway of Plattsburgh, Esther Bruno of Plattsburgh and Catherine Brelia of Albany.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Clarence Brelia; and two sisters, Mildred Woodward and Marie Jandreau Conners.

There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to her favorite charity: St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.

Elizabeth "Betty" Bechard — A private graveside service for Elizabeth "Betty" Bechard, who died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, was held on Friday, Dec. 8, at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Coopersville. Rev. Norman Cote, pastor, recited committal prayers.

Arrangements were by the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Shirley K. Ford (Griffith), 79, of Pine St., died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at the Meadowbrook

Health Care Facility in Plattsburgh. She was born in Chazy on Oct. 26, 1921, the daughter of the late Ovid and Maria (Beste) Wool.

Calling hours will be on Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral

Home in Plattsburgh. A Funeral Service will be held at 8 p.m. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in the spring.

Miss B. Vivian Dufort, 87, of the Franklin County Nursing Home and formerly of Clay Street in Malone, died Friday morning, Dec. 8, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. She had been a patient there since November 6.

Born in Malone on June 24, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mable (Robert) Dufort.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in the spring.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone.

Kathleen M. "Kitty" Marlowe, 90, of Washington Street in Malone, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center.

Born on Dec. 7, 1910, in Owls Head, she was the daughter of James H. and Helen (Bourcier) Malley.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

Florence A. Bruno

Schuyler Falls — Florence A. Bruno, 87, of Schuyler Falls, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

Marguerite M. Tyrell

Peru — Marguerite M. Tyrell, 93, of Peru, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Peru on Oct. 22, 1907, the daughter of Andrew and Sarah (Burt) Tyrell.

Ms. Tyrell was a member of the Peru Community Church.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Marguerite was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph and James Tyrell; and two sisters, Hazel Earle and Florence Waldron.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at 1 p.m., at the Peru Community Church with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Parker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Peru Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Lester E. Thew Funeral Home in Peru.

Frank C. Nels

Crown Point — Frank C. Nels, 69, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at his home on Main Street in Crown Point.

He was born in Purseglove, W.V., on Dec. 3, 1911, to Polish immigrant parents, John Gwozdziewicz and Kate (Kology) Nels.

Mr. Nels worked at the Crown Point Fish Hatchery for 40 years. He also worked at the canteen at the Crown Point Drive-In Theater. Most of his younger years were busy with the Crown Point Fire Department. He was a fire chief for many years as well as fire commissioner.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing at the lake and puttering in his shop. Another enjoyable hobby was wine making.

He was married to the former Julia Petro of Mineville for 54 years. She predeceased him in 1991.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Fred White of Malone and Jackie and Joe Vezing of South Burlington, Vt.; eight grandchildren & ten great-grandchildren.

Being the eldest of eight children, he is survived by two brothers, Benjamin and his wife, Dolores of Syracuse and Stanley of Crown Point; two sisters, Mary Mazurowski and her husband, Charles of Crown Point and Anna Wojewodzic of Port Henry.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, John and Walter.

A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church in Crown Point.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Crown Point Fire Department or the Crown Point Rescue Squad.

Moir B. Shumway, 99, formerly of Balsam Street in Lake Placid, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at the Uilein Mercy Center in Lake Placid, where he had been a resident since Nov. 4, 1981.

He was born in Lake Placid on May 2, 1901, the son of Cassius and Minnie (Bickford) Shumway.

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid, on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 8:30 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Mihill, pastor of the Adirondack Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in the North Elba Cemetery in May.

Alfred Raymond "Ray" LaFave, 76, of Sunset Avenue in Tupper Lake, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at his home.

Mr. Lafave was born on Dec. 10, 1923, in Tupper Lake, the son of Basil and Clementine (Scanlon) LaFave.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Dec. 8, at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, at noon at St. Alphonsus Church with Fr. Donald Kramberg officiating. Burial with military honors will be at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in May.

Shirley A. Colgan, 58, of Route 11 in Ellenburg Depot, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Earl Garrow, 89, of Brown Road, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Plattsburgh on May 4, 1911, son of the late William and Marie (D'Amour) Gareau.

Calling hours will be on Friday, Dec. 8, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. from the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Verna Ann Rawson, 68, formerly of Rouses Point, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, in Reseda, Calif.

She was born on March 21, 1932, in Rouses Point, the daughter of Albert and Henrietta (Ashline) Bombardier.

Private graveside services will be held in the spring.

Marion Agnes Gorman

Peru — Marion Agnes Gorman, 79, of Peru, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Peru on March 27, 1921, the daughter of Henry G. and Ella Mae (Bushey) Rivers.

She married Karl J. Gorman on March 14, 1942, in LaCrosse, Wis. He died on July 24, 1964.

Mrs. Gorman enjoyed country music, writing poetry, cooking and the special time that she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Karla and William Downs Sr. of Peru; one son, Michael Thomas "Big Mike" Gorman; two sisters, Edna Locke of Waynesville, Ohio, and Frances Lillian Hebert of Plattsburgh; one brother, Warren Rivers of Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Rita Duquette of Peru and Mary Ward of Troy; three grandchildren and their spouses, William Jr. and Betty Downs of Peru, Michele and Don Kelley of Londonderry, N.H., and Jennifer Denue and Ivan Marrero of Albany; three great-grandchildren, Kayela and Taylor Downs of Peru and Daniel Patrick Kelley of Londonderry, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, George, Clarence and Victor Rivers; one sister, Ellen Cobern; and one great-grandson, Karl Thomas Downs.

Calling hours will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 8, from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lester E. Thew Funeral Home in Peru. Members of the Peru Fire Department will meet at the funeral home at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. Vicente Jazmines, pastor, celebrating. Burial will be in the spring at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Keeseville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Karl J. and Marion Agnes Gorman to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh.

Katherine Ann Murphy

Cleveland, Ohio — Katherine Ann Murphy, 58, of Cleveland, Ohio, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000.

She is survived by a son, David Feldman of Euclid, Ohio; a daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Cynthia, Keith and Matthew Paley of Plattsburgh; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Tony Breece of Marysville, Ohio, and Patricia and Phillip Joseph of Bucyrus, Ohio.

A graduate of Galion High School, she received a bachelor's degree in English and a master of fine arts in creative writing from Cleveland State University and had served as an editor of Cleveland State University's Whiskey Island Literary Magazine. She had an additional master’s degree in English from The Ohio State University.

She was a published author and an Ohio Arts Council Award Recipient. She was formerly employed as Director of Medical Records at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, and had worked in the medical field in Columbus, Ohio, and Charleston, W.V.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in Galion, Ohio. The Paley family will receive visitors throughout the day on Saturday, Dec. 9th, with a minyan being organized at 7 p.m.

Joseph P. Lebednik

WITHERBEE — Joseph P. Lebednik, 89, of West Street in Witherbee, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at the Ocean County Medical Center in Brick Township, N.J.

He was born on Nov. 12, 1911, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Magiej and Martha (Mazinsky) Lebednik.

He retired as shift foreman for Republic Steel Corp. in Mineville.

His wife, Kathryn (Cunningham) Lebednik, died on June 5, 1991.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were held on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Harland Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will take place today at 10 a.m. at the Church of All Saints in Mineville. Father Toth will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Sarah Richardson Wallace, 87, formerly of Riverside Drive in Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1912, in Raleigh, N.C.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 11:15 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake. Interment will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.

Ronald A. Mayo

Plattsburgh — Ronald A. Mayo, 69, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

Ronald worked at the ski factory in Champlain from 1949 to 1970 and he worked at Anachemia Chemicals in Rouses Point from 1970 to 1993.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Yvonne Mayo; two brothers, Gordon Mayo and Maynard Mayo; and two sisters, Theresa Guerian and Bernice Baker.

Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Julius and Lucy Mayo of Champlain and Reginald and Jane Mayo of Rouses Point; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Vivian Vallee of Plattsburgh, Velida Parish of AuSable Forks, Wayne and Sidnee Garrow of Peru and John and Beulah Strayer of Champlain; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial mass will be held on Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Church in Champlain. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery on Church St.

Lillian M. Lafountain

Altona — Mrs. Lillian M. Lafountain, 82, of Station Street, died Monday Dec. 4, 2000, at the Clinton County Nursing Home.

She was born in Ludlow, Mass. on Jan. 27, 1918, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Langevin) Lashway.

Lillian was an avid bingo player and was a member of Holy Angels Church in Altona.

She is survived by four sons and eight daughters-in-law, Gerald and Loretta Lafountain of Altona, Norman and Sandy Lafountain of Champlain, Clarence and Paulette Lafountain of Mooers Forks, Wayne and Peggy Lafountain of Altona, Wanda Lafountain of Altona, Gladys Lafountain Rabideau of Altona, Lorraine Lafountain of Altona and Linda Lafountain; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Douglas Riley of Altona, Bernice Bushey of Plattsburgh, Mildred Dame of Plattsburgh, Geraldine Kimbler of Plattsburgh and Shirley and Homer Jarvis of Altona; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Maynard and Patricia Lashway of Altona, Gerald and Veronica Lashway of Champlain and Kenneth and Monica Lashway of Mass.; 29 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Lillian was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Norman Lafountain Sr.; four sons, Ronald Lafountain, Larry Lafountain, Kenneth Lafountain and Maynard "Bucky" Lafountain; and a daughter, Mildred Lashway.

Calling hours will be on Friday, Dec. 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Altona. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 9, at noon from St. Louis de France Church in Sciota. Interment will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.

WITHERBEE — Joseph P. Lebednix, 89, of West Street in Witherbee, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at the Ocean County Medical Center in Brick Township, N.J.

He was born on Nov. 12, 1911, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Magiej and Martha (Mazinsky) Lebednik.

He retired as shift foreman for Republic Steel Corp. in Mineville.

His wife, Kathryn (Cunningham) Lebednik, died on June 5, 1991.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m. at the Church of All Saints in Mineville. Father Toth will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Yvonne (Vanderhoof) Zizzo

Naples, Florida — Yvonne Zizzo, 75, of Naples, Florida, died unexpectedly November, 12, 2000.

She was born on Nov. 6, 1925, in Port Henry, the daughter of Leroy and Margaret (Brooks) Vanderhoof.

She is survived by her sister, Sarah Carr, of Ticonderoga; two brothers, Leroy Vanderhoof of Port Henry and George Vanderhoof of Elizabethtown; two granddaughters, Rita of Calif., and Karen of Naples, Fla.; one grandson, Rick of Calif.; three great-grandchildren; and her son-in-law, William Greenough of Naples, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Zizzo; daughter, Rose Greenough; and two brothers, Walter and Donald Vanderoof.

Services were held on Nov. 16, 2000 at the Johnson & Pittman Funeral Home. Burial followed at Naples Memorial Garden in Naples, Fla.

William E. Lafoe Jr.

Gloversville — Mr. William E. Lafoe Jr., 74, of Gloversville, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1926, in Northampton, Mass., the son of William E. and Minnie May (Trushaw) Lafoe Sr.

Mr. Lafoe attended school in the Northhampton area and later moved to Gloversville where he resided most of his life.

He was employed as a truck driver by the former Burr Lumber Co. and for over 40 years as a carpenter at Wood & Hyde Co., both of Gloversville.

Mr. Lafoe was a member of Fulton County Leather Workers Union in Gloversville.

Survivors include four sons, Robert Bridge of Mayfield, Paul Bridge of N.C., Joseph Lafoe of Fultonville and Dennis Lafoe of Tampa, Fla.; five daughters, Stacey Lafoe Bonham of Virginia Beach, Va., Charlene Lyman of Washington, D.C., Kathaleen Hoffman of Troy, Janet Tabor of Gloversville and Lorraine Lafoe of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Esther Seymore of Plattsburgh; many grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Jean A. Edick, who died on Aug. 3. 1992; one brother, Frederick Bombard; and one sister, Olive Bodah.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Hollenbeck Funeral Home in Gloversville. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home. The Rev. Philip W.B. Carey, pastor of Believes Fellowship Center in Johnstown, will officiate.

Burial will take place at Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene K. Patnode. His first wife, Nora (Canning) Patnode, died March, 1966.

He is survived by three daughters, Sherry Varin and Marybeth Patnode-Gebo of Dannemora and Robin Patnode of West Chazy; four sons, James of Chester, Md., Donald of Saranac Lake, Jerry of Shasta Lake City, Calif., and Patrick of Ballston Spa; grandchildren, Nancy Hoyt, Laura DuBray, Lynne Varin, Jessica Barcomb, Justin and Jared Patnode, Jacob, Jed, Nora and Jerry Patnode, Nora Lee and Sarah Rougier, Kennedy Rose Patnode-Gebo and Taylor Patnode; three great-grandchildren, Erin and Andrea Hoyt and Brandon DuBray; and two sisters, Margaret Evertsen of Lyon Mountain and Blanche Gilpin of Saranac Lake.

He was predeceased by one brother, Leo Patnode; and three sisters, Virginia Wood, Arlene Parrotte and Grace Wilkins.

Calling hours were held on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated today at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora.

Clement C. Facteau

Redford — Clement C. Facteau, 80, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at the Fletcher-Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, Vt.

He was born in Saranac on May 4,1920, the son of Ovid and Lena Mary (Collins) Facteau Sr.

Mr. Facteau was employed as a pulp mixer at Diamond International in Plattsburgh for 11 years until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 1618 in Saranac and the Church of the Assumption in Redford. He enjoyed picture taking, hunting, fishing and enjoyed his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan (Lamora) Facteau; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Wes Facteau of Dannemora, James and Deborah Facteau of Cadyville, Jeff and Elizabeth (Betty) Facteau of Standish and Michael and Tammy Facteau of Saranac; three daughters and sons- in-law, Brenda and Tom Rabideau of Morrisonville, Pamela and Robert Terry of Redford and Susan and Glen Larson of Plattsburgh; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ovid Facteau of Plattsburgh, Andrew and Barbara Facteau of Saranac and Howard and Carmen Facteau of Redford; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Alice Cringle of Cadyville, Mildred and Irving Rock of Cadyville, Barbara and Wayne Sorrell of Schenectady; and 11 grandchildren.

His parents and a sister, Monica Rabideau, died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Donald R. "Bunny" Minckler Jr.

ALTONA — Donald R. "BUNNY" Minckler Jr., 41, of Alder Bend Road, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at the Fletcher-Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, Vt. as the result of an ATV accident on Nov. 20, 2000.

He was born in Plattsburgh on March 29, 1959, the son of Donald and Marjorie (King) Minckler Sr. In 1981, he married the former Lorinda Shelters at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh.

Mr. Minckler was an employee of Sodexho-Marriott Corporation at Plattsburgh State University for over 23 years.

Mr. Minckler was an avid hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Lorinda of Plattsburgh; one son, James Minckler of Plattsburgh; one daughter, Jamie Minckler of Plattsburgh; his parents, Donald and Marjorie Minckler Sr. of Plattsburgh; one brother, Frederick Minckler and his companion, Heidi Bertrand, of Plattsburgh; three sisters, Sarah Cornish and her husband, Ricky, Lillian LaPier and her husband, Bruce and Sally Terpstra and her husband, Wayne, all of Plattsburgh; several nieces and nephews and a companion, Judy Buchan and her children, Nikki, Leslie and Michelle.

Standish — Kenneth F. Powers, 80, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Saranac on July 14,1920, the son of Charles and Ellen (Walker) Powers.

He retired from Macomb State Park as a gatekeeper and was a member of the Town of Saranac Election Board.

He is survived by his wife, June (Whitney) Powers; a brother, Charles Powers of Morrisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Three brothers, Victor, Clayton and James Powers died earlier.

Dolores M. Pratt

WITHERBEE, N.Y. — Dolores M. Pratt, 68, of 91 Belfrey Road, Witherbee, died Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Dolores was born on Feb. 12, 1932 at Poughkeepsie, N.Y., the daughter of George and Lydia (Baker) VanTassell. She married Joseph Pratt on Oct. 22, 1949. She enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, crafts and especially her family.

She is survived by her husband Joseph J. Pratt Jr., her children Adel Allen and David Allen, Joseph Pratt III and Jacqueline Pratt, Michael J. Pratt and Dawn Pratt, and Steven E. Pratt and Karen Pratt and her sisters, Ann Morrison and her husband Don, and Dorrain Morrison.

She is also survived by her grandchildren David Joseph Allen, Heather and Alvin Nolette, Joseph J. Pratt IV, Michael Pratt, Leann Warchol, Tyler Pratt, Ryan Pratt, Zachary Pratt, Bobbie Jo and Wayne Simmard and her great-grandchildren Shana, Morgan and Dylan and several nieces and nephews.

Edward V. Duquette

MALONE — Edward V. Duquette, 76, of 150 Park Street was pronounced dead Friday, Dec. 1 at the Alice Hyde Medical Center.

Born May 1, 1924 in Malone, he was the son of John and Frances Travers Duquette. They predeceased him.

He married Everista Mays, his former wife in 1945 in Beauford, S.C. He enjoyed the companionship of Frances Ohlman for the past 24 years.

He is survived by one son and a daughter-in-law, Bryan and Cathy Duquette of Malone; one daughter and a son-in-law, Denyse and Angelo LaBarbera of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren, Jaime and Tyler Duquette of Malone, Danielle, Adam, Aaron and Angelie LaBarbera all of Boise; one sister, Mrs. Donald Ann Anderson of Plattsburgh, and one brother, Bernard Duquette of Malone, and also several nieces and nephews.

He lived most of his life in Malone, attended local schools and graduated from Franklin Academy in 1942. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp. in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned to Malone and entered the dry cleaning business with his brother, Bernard Duquette.

At a later time, he owned and operated the College Inn and was also operating a wholesale beer transportation business.

In the early 1950s until the mid 1960s he was employed by the Malone Police Dept. and after 15 years, he retired from there with the rank of sergeant.

At that time, he was also engaged in his first excavation venture with John Chauvin called C & D Excavation. He later sold his share and went to work for New Channels for a short period of time. In 1964 he started his second excavation business, which grew into the present Ed Duquette & Son, Inc. He enjoyed working with his son, Bryan, for the past 22 years and in 1992 he passed ownership of the enterprise over to Bryan. He still remained very active in the daily operation of the business. He was also a very active political observer.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Knights of Columbus, Malone Call Fireman, Malone Lodge of Elks 1303 and the American Legion Post 219.

Calling hours will be Monday, Dec. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home Chapel.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church with Msgr. C. John McAvoy officiating.

Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lake Titus Road.

ELIZABETH "BETTY" LAMITIE, 64, a resident of the Alice Hyde Nursing Home, Malone, and formerly of 77 Front St., Malone, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 3, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, where she had been a patient since Nov. 19.

Born in Malone on June 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Romeo Bill Recore and Martha Hodge Recore. She was married to Donald U. Lamitie and worked at Tru-Stitch Footwear in Malone.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1 p.m. in St. John Bosco Church, Malone, with the Rev. Thomas Moody officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

CALVIN C. WALBRIDGE SR., 76, of Malone died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000 at his home, under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.

He was born in Malone, Nov. 2, 1924, the son of the late Karl and Lena Colby Walbridge.

Ronald A. Mayo

Plattsburgh — Ronald A. Mayo, 69, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1931, the son of Edgar and Yvonne Mayo.

Mr. Mayo worked at the ski factory in Champlain from 1949 to 1970 and he worked at Anachomia Chemicals in Rouses Point from 1970 to 1993.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Yvonne Mayo; two brothers, Gordon Mayo and Maynard Mayo; and two sisters, Theresa Guerian and Bernice Baker.

Survivors include two brothers, Julius and Lucy Mayo of Champlain and Reginald and Jane Mayo of Rouses Point; four sisters, Vivian Vallee of Plattsburgh, Sidnee Garrow of Peru, John and Beulah Strayer of Champlain and Veleta Parrish of AuSable Forks.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, from St. Mary’s Church in Champlain at 10 a.m.

Arrangements were with the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.

Edward Albert Shattuck Sr.

Ticonderoga — Edward Albert Shattuck Sr., 87, of Wicker Street, passed away at his home on Saturday morning, Dec. 2, 2000, surrounded by his beloved family following a short illness.

Ed was born Dec. 23, 1912, in Hague and would have celebrated his 88th birthday. He was the son of the late Claude and Mary Jane (Mulligan) Shattuck of Ticonderoga.

Ed graduated from Ticonderoga High School in 1931. He attended the Merchant Marine Academy, received a bachelors degree from SUNY Oswego and a masters degree in education from Cornell University. He was employed as an industrial arts teacher in Ilion, N.Y., and later served as the Director of Vocational Education for the Troy School District. He finished his career in 1972 with the New York State Education Department as Chief of Vocational Education.

Since his retirement, he and his wife have resided at 27 Wicker Street, a Shattuck residence since 1926. During his retirement, he was an active member of the community. He served on both the Ticonderoga and BOCES school boards and held the position of town assessor. He was a board member of the Ticonderoga Country Club and a member of the Hancock Historical Society.

Ed was a member and Past Master of the Mount Defiance Lodge 794, Free & Accepted Masons of Ticonderoga and the Masonic Lodge of Ilion. He was a Past Commander of the American Legion Post in Hague.

Ed served in the Merchant Marines and was on active duty during World War II. His service included many vital supply runs in support of the Allied causes. His service was personally recognized by the Russian government when he was awarded the Commemorative Medal, "The 40th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War (W.W.II)".

Ed is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine (Dion) Shattuck. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on April 12, 2000. He is also survived by four children, Edward A. Shattuck of Gresham, Ore., Mary Bush of Clifton Park, John A. Shattuck of Schenectady and Claudia A. Szitar of Clay; one brother, David Shattuck and his wife Peg of Delaware; and eight grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 33 Algonkin Street in Ticonderoga. A Masonic Service will take place Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga.

The family has suggested memorials be in the form of contributions to the Moses-Ludington Hospital, Ticonderoga, NY 12883 or High Peaks Hospice of Essex County, P.O. Box 195, Mineville, NY 12956.

Austin Bernard Chase, the son of Andrew and Patricia (Rock) Chase of Chazy Lake, died at birth on Dec. 1, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

A private graveside service will be held for the family at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Lyon Mountain.
