Mary E. Lawrence

Westport — Mary E. Lawrence, 80, of Westport, died Wed. Dec. 1, 1999 at her home on Sisco St. after a long illness. She was born in Westport, Feb. 7, 1919, the daughter of John A. and Mary (Sausville) Fleury.

Her husband, Adolph Lawrence, died in 1978. Mary worked at Bell Aircraft in Vermont during World War II and at the Royal Cathay Restaurant in Albany as well as the NYS Teachers Retirement system and the NYS Department of Audit and Control for many years.

She enjoyed golfing, bingo and volunteer work for many seniors in Essex County. She was an exceptional amateur artist throughout her life.

She is survived by two sons, William Lawrence of Rotterdam; and Allen Lawrence of Albany; three brothers James Fleury, of Plattsburgh; Raymond and Roy Fleury of Westport; two grandchildren, A.J. and Jennifer Lawrence; and two great - grandchildren, Katie and Justin Lawrence and several nieces and nephews.

Her brother John Fleury died before her.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Marvin's Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from St. Philip Neri Church in Westport. Burial will be in St. Philip Neri Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Philip Neri Church in Westport.

BESSIE "BETTY" DOUGLAS, 69, of Wilmington, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999 at the home of her daughter in Bloomingdale. She was born Aug. 1, 1930.

There will be no calling hours. Gravesided services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Mountainview Cemetery, Upper Jay, in the Era Winch Lot. Zaumetzer - Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

REGINALD J. OTT, 70, of Indian Rock Rd., Wilmington, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999 at the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh. He was born May 2, 1929, in Bridgeport, Conn.

Calling hours will be Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Zaumetzer - Sprague Funeral Home. American Legion Post 504 of Ausable Forks will hold a prayer Service Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Margarets Church in Wilmington. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Ausable Forks.

William Brennan

ROUSES POINT — William Brennan, 83, of Chapman St., Rouses Point, died Wednesday Dec. 1, 1999 at his home.

Born in Albany on Aug. 13, 1916, he was the son of Thomas F. and Flora M. (Hall) Brennan.

Mr. Brennan was a member of the Army Airways Communications System Alumni, the American Radio Relay League, a life member of the Champlain Valley Radio Club, a life member of Society of Wireless Pioneers, the American Legion Post 912 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1418.

He is predeceased by his wife, Agnes (Brown) Brennan, who died Feb. 1962. He is also predeceased by a sister, Flora Norman, and four brothers, Thomas H., Francis, Joseph and James Brennan.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Jeanne Brennan, of Rouses Point; four nieces, Nancy Brennan of Rouses Point, Donna Spellman of Chateaugay; Mary Ryan, Patricia Lehmann and Frances Castner, all of Arizona; and a nephew, Paul Norman of England.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday Dec. 4, 1999 at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country, 386 Rugar St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901 or the Rouses Point Fire and Rescue Squad.

Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point.

 John "Jack" Cutting

Bull Head City, Ariz. — John "Jack" Cutting, 65, beloved husband, father and brother, passed away in the loving presence of his family Nov. 30, 1999 at Bull Head City, Ariz. after a courageous battle with cancer.

John was born April 5, 1934 at Moriah; the son of Claude and Anna Cutting. He attended Moriah High School, served in the US Marine Corp. and worked as a carpenter, building homes in Calif and Arizona. He operated The Hitching Post Mobile Home Park at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife Jackie, his son Randy, his daughter, Julie; five stepsons; Doug, Mike, Bob, Bill and Walter; five grandchildren, all of Arizona; four sisters; Stella Blaise of Port Henry; Anne Peterson of Ticonderoga; Marty Denton of Hague and Mary Cutting of Moriah; and his step sister; Jean Gravelle Wykes of Port Henry.

He is predeceased by his parents and a stepson, Danny.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be held Friday Dec. 3, 1999 at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Port Henry; Rev. Michael Toth officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice.

BERNICE A. LAMICA, 76 of Fort Covington, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, Vt. Born in Fort Covington, Jan. 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Nellie Barney Allen.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 9 until 10:45 a.m. at the Cappiello - McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church with the Rev. Martin Farrell officiating. Burial will be in the old St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Covington.

 SCOTT N. WOOLMAN, 48, of Kendall, Fla. and formerly of Plattsburgh; passed away Dec. 1, 1999.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 1999 at Congregation Bet Breira, 9400 S.W. 87th Ave. with interment to follow at Mt. Nebo Kendall Memorial Gardens.

 VICTORIA P. SWEETSER, 75, of Brattleboro, Vt., died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. She was born in Champlain on June 1, 1924, a daughter of William and Florence (Goodney) Messick.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Walnut St. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s cemetery. Visiting hours at the Ker, Westerlund and Fleming Funeral Home will be Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. Ker, Westerlund and Fleming Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Angelos

PLATTSBURGH — Mrs. Dorothy Angelos, 75, of Beekman Towers died Tuesday Nov. 30, 1999 at her home. She was born in New York City on Nov. 22, 1924 the daughter of the late Nicholas and Diamadoula "Dina" (Augustatos) Zaharatos.

Dorothy arrived in Plattsburgh in 1943, she contributed her services in running the family business, the Crystal Restaurant. Dorothy worked at Monty Street School and Oak Street School as a cook. She had worked for ten years at Plattsburgh Air Force Base as a cook. Dorothy retired from Marriott Corporation, SUNY Plattsburgh, in 1994 where she worked as a line cook. Dorothy was a member of the Senior Citizen's Council in Plattsburgh and attended Trinity Episcopal Church in Plattsburgh. Dorothy was a devoted grandmother.

Dorothy is survived by her former husband, Jerry Angelos of Plattsburgh; two sons, Gus Angelos of Chicago, Ill.; Nicholas Angelos of Plattsburgh; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Kevin O'Brien of Saratoga; Athena and Walter Mousseau of Plattsburgh; a sister, Freida Frankos of Plattsburgh; eight grandchildren, Bret Angelos, Jessika Angelos, Sarrah Angelos, Erica Mousseau, Corey Mousseau, Elliot Mousseau, Jessie-Kate O'Brien and Terrence O'Brien.

A brother, Andrew Kemp, died previously in Greece.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Funeral Service will be held Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Lillian A. McCaffrey

PLATTSBURGH — Lillian A. McCaffrey, 76, of Evergreen Valley Nursing Home and formerly of Lakeview Towers, died Wednesday Dec. 1, 1999 at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Covey Hill, P.Q. on July 22, 1923 the daughter of William and Mildred (Cowan) Hamill. She married James S. McCaffrey in 1946 in Montreal. They moved to Plattsburgh in 1948. Mr. McCaffrey died in 1978. Mrs. McCaffrey was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of The Womens Home League of the Salvation Army, Golden Years. Mrs. McCaffrey worked as the bookkeeper for the Salvation Army for 18 years retiring in 1974 due to illness.

Survivors include one brother, John and his wife, Betty Hamill of Montreal; one nephew, Dr. Ronald McCaffrey of Vancouver, B.C. and one niece, Mrs. Roger (Beverly) Plourde of Kirtland, P.Q.; and several cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Russelltown Cemetery in St. Chrysostome, P.Q.

Donations may be made to the Salvation Army in Plattsburgh.

Beverly Coulombe

CHAZY — Beverly Coulombe, 52, of Washington Ave., died Wednesday Nov. 30, 1999 at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Bradford, Pa. on Oct. 18, 1947 the daughter of James and Lois (Kaufman) Todd.

Beverly was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Chazy and was an avid Bingo Player and enjoyed crafts.

Survivors include one son, Stephen Coulombe of Plattsburgh; two daughters and one son-in-law, Nicole Coulombe of Rouses Point and April and Norman "Charlie" Stone of Plattsburgh; one grandson, Anthony Stone; and several aunts uncles, cousins and friends.

Private calling hours and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Champlain. Arrangements by the R. W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Donations may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center.

Shirley Anderson, of 22 Boyer Ave., Tupper Lake died Sunday Nov. 28, 1999 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are with the Fortune Keough Rennell Funeral Home in Tupper Lake.

 George Brian LaPlant, 35, of Chateaugay died Tuesday Nov. 29, 1999 at Alice Hyde Hospital, Malone. Born in Malone on Aug. 30. 1964.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Brainardsville Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home.

Harold Matthews, 55, of Lewis, the son of James and Mary (Grieco) Matthews, died Tuesday Nov. 30, 1999 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

ELEANOR KIESCHE, 85, of 70 Sawyer Ave., Malone, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999 at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. Born in Union City, N.J., Sept. 24, 1914, she was the daughter of the late John and Ella Koralli Keber.

Calling hours will be Friday from 9 - 11 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Msgr. Dennis Duprey officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, in Fairview, N.J.

John L. Nason

WILLSBORO — John Lawrence Nason, 82, of 2 Middle Rd. died at CVPH Medical Center Nov. 29, 1999. Mr. Nason was born in Clarenceville, Quebec March 20, 1917, the son of Raymond and Gertrude (Johnston) Nason.

Mr. Nason is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mabel (Brown) Nason, two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Wayne Feeley of the Middle Road, Willsboro; and Beulah and Douglas West of Reber; five grandchildren, Scott, David and Peter Feeley, Robin Pierce and John Morris, 12 great - grandchildren, two brothers and their wives, Ora and Rachel Hislop, St. Albans, Vt. and Elldon and Betty Hislop, Graniteville, Vt.; and one sister-in-law, Theresa Hislop.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Russell.

In 1979, John and Mabel retired to New York from Vermont. He was a charter member of the Northeast Riding and Driving Club of Fairfax, Vt. and his interests included horses, birdwatching, visiting with friends and neighbors and especially his grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday Dec. 1, 1999 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Huestis Funeral Home, Maple St., Willsboro. Funeral services will be held at the Willsboro United Methodist Church, Thursday Dec. 2, 1999 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Reber Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Willsboro Reber Rescue Squad.

 Ronald J. "Ron" Nadeau

COLCHESTER, VT. — Ronald J. "Ron" Nadeau, 70, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

He was born May 23, 1929, in Ticonderoga, N.Y.; the son of the late Norman and Pearl (Denno) Nadeau.

Ron graduated from Ticonderoga High School in 1947, and General Electric Apprentice Machinist Course in Schenectady, N.Y. in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He married Barbara Kay Jones of Crown Point, N.Y. on May 1, 1954.

He was employed for 11 years by General Electric in Schenectady, N.Y., from 1952 - 1959; in Utica, N.Y., from 1959 - 1960; and in Burlington, Vt. from 1960 - 1964; and he was employed by IBM in Essex Junction from 1964 - 1990.

Mr. Nadeau's hobbies included camping, square dancing, woodworking, yardwork and "tinkering." He especially enjoyed time spent with his family.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Burlington, Vt. where he served on several committees. He loved having church picnics in the backyard.

Mr. Nadeau is survived by his wife, Barbara of Burlington, Vt.; his children, Kathie and Michael Charron of Jericho, Vt.; Karen and Richard Dupaw of Burlington, Vt.; Kelly and Guy Circe of Colchester, Vt.; and Kyle Nadeau of Tualatin, Ore.; eight grandchildren, Ben, Justin and Allison Charron, Beverly Dupaw, Evan and Shayne Circe and Kelsey and Brittany Nadeau; his brothers and sisters, Norma Barber, Sheila Witherbee, William Nadeau, Katherine Jean Charbonneau, Barbara Reeb, Cecile Evens, Norman Nadeau Jr. and Donna Leavens; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Joanne Nadeau.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, in. the First United Methodist Church in Burlington, Vt. with burial in Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington on Monday Nov. 15, 1999. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association, Vermont Affiliate Inc., P.O. Box 485, Williston, Vt. 05495, or the Music Ministry at the First United Methodist Church, 21 Buell St., Burlington, Vt. 05401.

Harold Joseph Seery, 74, of Crown Point, died Monday Nov. 29, 1999 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington. Harold was born January 27, 1925 at Tupper Lake, son of William and Anna Seery.

Calling hours will be Thursday Dec. 2, 1999, 10 to 11 a.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. from the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery, Tupper Lake at a later date.

Jean A. Goldsmith, 82, formerly of Redford, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999 in Hallandale, Fla. She was born in Redford on Aug. 14, 1914, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Facteau) Miner.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Assumption Cemetery in Redford. The O’Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements.

Ernestine G. Voth, 80, of Las Vegas, Nevada, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999 at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center. She was born March 22, 1919 in Ochiltree, Texas.

Margaret Elizabeth (Ryan) Meagher

Malone — Margaret Elizabeth (Ryan) Meagher, 72, of Sawyer Ave., Malone died Friday Nov. 26, 1999 at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh. Born in Ellenburg Center on Feb. 26, 1927, she was the daughter of William and Katherine (Lord) Ryan.

Her first marriage was to John McCann on June 12, 1947 in Notre Dame Church, Malone, he predeceased her Nov. 8, 1960. Her second marriage was to John Meagher on July 7, 1961 in Sacred Heart Church, Massena, he also predeceased her on Jan. 28, 1984.

Mrs. Meagher is survived by seven daughters, Patricia Dragon of Chateaugay, N.Y.; Joan Mason of Gouverneur, N.Y.; Kathleen Anderson of Malone, N.Y.; Beverly Kratzrt of Salem, N.Y.; Susan Lyng of Malone, N.Y.; Mary Rubin of Fort Ann, N.Y.; Sharon Meagher of Great Falls, Va.; a son, James Meagher of Chateaugay, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; three great - grandchildren; seven brothers; Wayne Ryan of Ellenburg Center, N.Y.; Ronald Ryan of Ellenburg Depot, N.Y.; William Ryan of Ellenburg Depot, N.Y.; Terry Ryan of Ellenburg Depot, N.Y.; Roger Ryan of Haverll, N.H.; Dale Ryan of Danvers, Mass.; Edward Ryan of Hope Well, N.Y.; four sisters, Barbara Gero of Ellenburg Depot, N.Y.; Joanne Juners of Weatherford, Texas; Sandra Veivia of Evans Mills, N.Y.; Linda Ryan of Coeur de Ilne, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.

Those that preceded in death were her husbands; two sons, Robert and Gerald McCann; a daughter, Anne McCann; a sister, Shirley Cashman; two brothers, Gary and Edwin Ryan.

Before her first marriage she was employed as a cook for the New York State Police, Troop 'B' in Malone and also worked as a cook for Mills Diner in Chateaugay for several years.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and member of Chateaugay American Legion Auxiliary.

Visitation will be at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday Nov. 28, 1999 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. on Monday Nov. 29, 1999 in St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Fay Ager officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay.

Donations in her memory may he made to Chateaugay Rescue Squad, Chateaugay Revitalization Committee, or Chateaugay American Legion Auxiliary.
