John R. "Jack"
Bechard
Plattsburgh
— Mr. John R. "Jack" Bechard, 65, of Patriot Drive,
died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at his home after a courageous battle
with cancer.
He was
born in Plattsburgh on April 30, 1935, the son of the late
Alphonse and Corine (Lareau) Bechard.
Jack was
a graduate of Champlain Central School where he was captain of the
basketball and soccer teams. Jack served in the U. S. Marine Corps
during Korea. He was the President of G&G Tire Company,
retiring in 1995. Jack enjoyed traveling, playing cards and golf.
He was a former member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of
Elks Plattsburgh Lodge 621 and he was a member of St. Peter’s
Church.
He is
survived by his wife, Jeanne (Proulx) Bechard, whom he married in
1958, of Plattsburgh; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Greg
Bechard of Plattsburgh, Randy Bechard of Cincinnati, Ohio, and
Robin and Stephanie Bechard of Valcour; a daughter and her
fiancé, Kimberly Grosskopf and Kevin King of Peru; seven sisters
and five brothers-in-law, Ruby and Arthur Martineau of Winter
Springs, Fla., Gloria Turner of Cupertino, Calif., Carmelia and
Fred Edick of Sun City, Ariz., Claudette and Carl Navaro of
Liverpool, N.Y., June and Charles Trombley of Mooers Forks, Brenda
and Kenneth Duquette of Plattsburgh and Donna Bechard of
Plattsburgh; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Richard
"Dick" and Madeline Bechard of Plattsburgh and Glenn and
Connie Bechard of Dennis, Mass.; six grandchildren, Ashley
Grosskopf, John, Brandon, William, Eric and Andrew Bechard and
Morris and Derik King; and several nieces and nephews.
Jack was
predeceased by his parents and a sister, Geraldine Baker.
Calling
hours will be on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian
burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from St. Peter’s
Church. Interment will be in the family plot at St. Joseph's
Cemetery in Coopersville.

Michael Joseph Blier
Salt Lake
City — Michael Joseph Blier, 43, of Mason Street in
Morrisonville, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at University Hospital
in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was
born in Boston, Mass., on Sept. 18, 1957, the son of Donald and
Josette (Jennotte) Blier.
Michael
attended Northern Adirondack Central School. He was a veteran,
serving in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1982. Michael was a
correction officer employed at the Clinton Correctional Facility.
He was a loving and dedicated father who was very active in his
children's dance recitals and school activities where he
volunteered on a weekly basis at Momont Elementary School, sharing
time with his daughters, their classmates and teachers. Michael
enjoyed fishing and camping with his daughters, he enjoyed
automobile repairs and did snow plowing. He enjoyed motorcycle
trips with his daughters. He enjoyed vacationing and hunting in
Mountain Home, Idaho, with his brother, Donald.
Michael
is survived by his wife, the former Kelly Davies of Plattsburgh;
three daughters, Tiffany, Jamie and Christi all from Plattsburgh;
a son, Michael Jr. of Whitlich, Germany; two brothers and
sisters-in-law, Donald and Debbie Blier of Mountain Home, Idaho,
and Paul and Christina Blier of Plattsburgh; two sisters and a
brother-in-law, Lorraine and Alan Sampica of Saranac and Anita
Blier of Saranac; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and a
close friend Vanessa Staples.
Michael
was predeceased by his parents and brother, Wayne Blier.
Calling
hours will be on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A prayer service will be
held on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Bleaux. A Mass
of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 4, at noon
from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow
in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Donations
in his memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center at
CVPH.
He will
be especially missed by his daughters, family and everyone who
knew him.
Robert N. "Bob"
Gerhardt
Plattsburgh
— Mr. Robert N. "Bob" Gerhardt, 66, of Macey Lane,
died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at the VA Hospital in Miami, Fla.
He was
born in Chicago, Ill., on Nov. 15, 1934, the son of the late
Nicholas and Violet (Thrawl) Gerhardt.
Robert
served in the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea and
retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1980 as a master sergeant. He
was the executive director and was serving as vice president of
the American Military Retirees Association. Bob enjoyed fishing,
playing and instructing tennis and skiing in several continents
around the world. Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus
Msgr. Claude Gobet Council 6067 St. Alexander's Church in
Morrisonville.
Robert is
survived by his wife of 33 years, Margaret "Marge"
(Palisin) Gerhardt of Plattsburgh; two sons and a daughter-in-law,
Jerome "Jerry" Gerhardt of Plattsburgh and James and
Heather Gerhardt of Plattsburgh; two sisters and a brother-in-law,
Donna and James Imus of Phoenix, Ariz., and Diane Briesacker of
Elkhart, Ind.; two brothers, Bernard Gerhardt and Ronald Gerhardt
both of Chicago, Ill.; a grandson, Jacob Gerhardt; a
granddaughter, Ireland Gerhardt; and several nieces and nephews.
He was
predeceased by his parents and a brother, Donald Gerhardt.
Calling
hours will be on Sunday, Dec. 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at
the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial
will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 4, at 9:30 a.m. from St.

Howard H. Harrica
Plattsburgh
— Howard H. Harrica, 82, formerly of Dannemora, died Thursday,
Nov. 30, 2000, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in
Plattsburgh.
He was
born in Chateaugay on March 24, 1918, the son of Harry P. and Anna
(Ducharme) Harrica.
Mr.
Harrica graduated from Chateaugay High School and the Malone
Business School. He graduated from Officer School and achieved the
rank of captain in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Mr.
Harrica retired from the Clinton Correctional Facility as Acting
Superintendent of Industries in 1978. He served as a Dannemora
Town Councilman from 1986 to 1994. He was a member of the Siberian
Rod and Gun Club, the National Rifle Association, the Dannemora
Knights of Columbus Council 2166 and the Sorrell-Woodward American
Legion of Lyon Mountain. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and
was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora.
He is
survived by his wife, Lillian (Tarasavage) Harrica, whom he
married on May 28, 1989; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and
Elaine Harrica of Dannemora; a daughter, Marlene Gratto of
Heuvelton; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
His first
wife, Elsie Harrica, whom he married on March 14, 1942, died on
Oct. 1, 1986. Two brothers, Bernard and C. Leonard Harrica also
died earlier.
There
will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, from St. Joseph's Church
in Dannemora. Burial will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial
Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.
In lieu
of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dannemora, Lyon
Mountain or Saranac Rescue Squads.
The

Maynard A.
"Bucky" Lafountain
Altona
— Mr. Maynard A. "Bucky" Lafountain, 55, of Woods
Falls Road, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, as a result of an
automobile accident.
He was
born in Mooers Forks on Aug. 30, 1945, the son of Norman and
Lillian (Lashway) Lafountain Sr.
He was
employed as a Field Superintendent by Monahan and Loughlin Roofing
Co. for 36 years. He was a member of Local 241 and was a foreman.
Bucky was an avid hunter, NASCAR racing fan and was a member of
the National Rifle Association. He was a member of Holy Angels
Church in Altona.
He is
survived by his wife of 35 years, Wanda (Boulrice) Lafountain of
Altona; his mother, Lillian Lafountain of Altona; two sons and a
daughter-in-law, Scott Lafountain and his companion Tammy Graves
of Altona and Shawn and Jackie Lafountain of Altona; a daughter
and a son-in-law, Tracy and Timothy Graves of Altona; four
brothers and four sisters-in-law, Gerald and Loretta Lafountain of
Altona, Norman and Sandy Lafountain of Champlain, Clarence and
Paulette Lafountain of Mooers Forks and Wayne and Peggy Lafountain
of Altona; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Lafountain of Altona; three
grandsons, Cory, Casey and Cody; and several nieces and nephews.
Bucky was
predeceased by his father, Norman Lafountain Sr.; his brothers,
Ronnie, Larry and Kenny; and a sister, Mildred Lashway.

Dec. 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in

(Gordon) Robinson
Upper Jay
— Elsie G. Robinson, 92, died Nov. 28, 2000, at the Adirondack
Medical Center following a short illness.
She was
born to Edson W. and Catharine B. (Hurlburt) Gordon on March 11,
1908, in Grand Isle, Vt. Her mother died when Elsie was one year
old. Her stepmother was Lucy Z. (Reynolds) Gordon whom her father
married in 1912.
Elsie
attended Grand Isle School, Burlington High School and the
University of Vermont. She taught in a one-room school in Alburg,
Vt. She earned her teaching certification from Plattsburgh State
Teachers' College in 1927 and taught in schools in Wilmington. She
later earned a degree in Library Science from Albany State
Teachers’ College and was the school librarian at AuSable Forks
High School and at AuSable Valley Union High School until her
retirement in 1974.
She
married Paul Robinson, of Upper Jay, on Nov. 27, 1930, and was
involved in the community there until she moved to the Keene
Valley Neighborhood House in April 2000.
Elsie was
active in the Whiteface United Methodist Church, the Wells
Memorial Library, the Order of the Eastern Star, Lebanon Chapter
No. 150, the New York State Retired Teachers' Association and the
AuSable Valley Garden Club. Her garden was one of her greatest
pleasures.
She is
survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Carl Eells of
Essex, Vt.; two grandsons, John Eells and his wife, Jill, of St.
Louis, Mo. and Cameron Eells and his wife, Sandra, of Jericho, Vt.
and two great-grandchildren who gave her much joy, Paul Wendell
Eells and Nathan Robinson Eells.
She was
predeceased by her brother, Norman, in 1962 and by her husband,
Paul A., in 1995.
A
memorial service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m., at the
Whiteface United Methodist Church in Wilmington.

the Alice Hyde Nursing Home, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at that

private and at the convenience of the family.

Elizabeth "Betty" A. Bechard
CHAZY — Elizabeth "Betty" A. Bechard, 60, of Route
9B, died Thursday Nov. 30, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was born in Champlain on August 9, 1940, the daughter of
Ormas and Amelia (Pelkey) Tatro.
Betty married Rene Bechard on July 8, 1961, in St. Mary’s
Church in Champlain.
Mrs. Bechard was a member of St. Joseph's Church in
Coopersville. She was also a member of the American Legion Post
1619 Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 125 Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler for many years and
enjoyed bingo and watching baseball.
Mrs. Bechard was a 1958 graduate of St. Mary's Academy in
Champlain. She was a telephone operator for the Champlain
Telephone Company for many years and drove a bus for the
Northeastern Clinton Central School.
She is survived by her husband, Rene Bechard of Chazy; one son,
Samuel Bechard and his wife, Dorothy, of Milton, Vt.; one
daughter, Mrs. Joe (April) Staley of Morrisonville; one sister,
Mrs. William (Catherine) Shepard of Thiells, N.Y.; one aunt,
Marjorie Pelkey of Morrisonville; two grandchildren, William and
Ashlie Bordeau; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A
funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. in
the funeral home chapel.

Thomas W. Hanley
Ticonderoga — Thomas W. Hanley, 88, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.,
and Ticonderoga passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, after an
extended illness at the home of his son in Black Mountain, N.C.
He was born in New York City on April 24, 1912, the son of the
late Joseph J. and Cecile (Beche) Hanley.
Mr. Hanley was a former resident of Rye, N.Y. He lived in Port
St. Lucie, Fla., for the past 22 years and kept a summer residence
in Ticonderoga. Before Mr. Hanley’s retirement, in 1978, he was
the magazine makeup supervisor for Family Circle magazine since
its founding. He was a member of the Lake George Association.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary McHugh
Hanley; two daughters, Maureen Abrahamson and her husband, Dale,
of Yorktown, Va., and Kathleen Gottschalk and her husband, Peter,
of East Greenbush, N.Y.; two sons, Brian Hanley and his wife,
Julie, of Black Mountain, N.C., and Brendan Hanley and his wife,
Karen, of North Creek, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Warren Estes and
Andrea Abrahamson of Boston, Mass., Elaine and Derek Abrahamson of
Yorktown, Va., Kevin and Dillon Hanley of North Creek and Glenn
and Ellen Gottschalk of East Greenbush; and one brother, Joseph
Hanley of Tulsa, Okla.
He was predeceased by a sister, Cecile Hanley.

and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 33
Algonkin Street in Ticonderoga.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 4, at 10:30

The Rite of Committal will follow at the family plot at the

Gladys Clark
Plattsburgh — Gladys Clark, 79, of Weed Street in
Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at the CVPH Medical
Center.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1921, in Rouses Point, the daughter of
George and Effe May Gebo.
She was a life member of the American Legion Post 1418 Lady's
Auxiliary.
Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Woodrow Clark Sr. and a
brother, Joseph Gebo, of Eastport, Maine.
She is survived by two sons, Woodrow Jr. and his wife, Barbara,
of Pembroke, N.H., and David G. Clark and his companion, Becky
Burdo, of Plattsburgh; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Paul
and June Barker of Champlain, Elanaor Hebert of Champlain, Jean
and Gloria Julian of Southbridge, Mass., Robert and Veronica
LaCount of Champlain, Fred and Cynthia Moore of Pembroke and Bruce
and Deborah Locke of Swanton, Vt.; 38 grandchildren; and many
great-grandchildren.

Pauline R. Lafreniere
ELLENBURG DEPOT — Pauline R. (Shnob) Lafreniere returned to
the Arms of the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000.
She was born on April 25, 1926, in St. Chrysostome, Canada, the
daughter to the late Edmund and Leona (Yelle) Shnob.
Mrs. Lafreniere was a communicant of St. Edmund's Church in
Ellenburg. She worked for many years at Scott's IGA and owned and
operated the Depot Diner in Ellenburg. While living in Corinth she
worked for Taylor's Grocery Store and was a housekeeper for many
in the Fourth Lake area. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline's
of Glens Falls.
Pauline enjoyed playing bingo and aggravation and making
donuts, blankets, braided rugs and pillows for family and friends.
She was known as the "Queen" of Windy Acres in Ellenburg
where she resided prior to moving to the Meadowbrook Nursing Home
in Plattsburgh.
She married Leonard F. Lafreniere on Oct. 28, 1945, who died
before her. Along with her husband, she is predeceased by a son,
Mark Lafreniere; sister Gloria Shnob; brother Paul Shnob and
parents Edmund and Leona Shnob.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons, Frances Jenkins
and husband Tom of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Jane Woods and husband Bob
of Corinth, James Lafreniere and wife Suki of Las Vegas, Nev.,
Roger Lafreniere of Clarksville, Tenn., Jacqueline Lafreniere of
Egg Harbor Township, N.J. and Lynn Tolosky and husband Todd of
Ellenburg Depot; one brother, George Shnob of Plattsburgh; one
sister, Mary Monica of Corinth; and 15 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec.
1st, 2000, at the E.F. Drown Funeral Home in Ellenburg Depot. A
Mass of Christian burial will be held at the St. Edmund's Church
in Ellenburg Depot at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000. Burial
will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in
Ellenburg Depot.

Clarence E. LaForest
CHAZY — Clarence E. LaForest, 68, who resided at the home of
his stepdaughter, Michelle and David Desjardins on Oliver Street,
died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care
Center in Burlington, Vt.
He was born in Champlain, on June 28, 1932, the son of Henry
and Laura (Baker) LaForest.
He married the former Shirley LaPier in 1951, at St. Peter's
Church in Plattsburgh. She died in 1976.
His survivors include six daughters and five sons-in-law, Mrs.
Larry (Melody) Vassar of Altona, Mrs. Roy (Sandra) Rabideau of
West Chazy, Mrs. Patrick (Vickie) Pellerin of Clifton Park, N.Y.,
Mrs. Jeffrey (Roxanne) Snell of Mooers Forks, Vanessa LaForest of
Plattsburgh and Mrs. Thomas (Valerie) MeInyk of Germany; five
brothers and five sisters-in-law, Leon and Marie LaForest of
Dannemora, Bernard and Patricia LaForest of Mineola, Texas, Milton
and Venus LaForest of Altona, Melvin LaForest of Westburn, N.Y.,
Vernon and Jean LaForest. of Scholarie, N.Y. and Rita LaForest of
Plattsburgh; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mrs. Harriett
Smart of Plattsburgh, Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Warnock of Rensselear

Albert Almon Clark , 84, of Ponca
City, Okla., formerly of Elizabethtown and Plattsburgh, died Tues.
Nov. 28, 2000, in Oklahoma.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1916, in Elizabethtown, the son of
Virgil S. and Stella Mae (Patterson) Clark.

a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Elizabethtown, with the Rev. Ted
Monica officiating.

Sherwood W. "Woodie" Kaltenbach,
87, of Hillcrest Avenue in Lake Placid, passed away Thursday, Nov.
30, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake after a
lengthy illness.
"Woodie" was born in Tonawanda, N.Y., on Dec. 6,
1912, the son of Ewald and Elizabeth Kaltenbach.
There are no calling hours. A memorial Mass and burial, in the
St. Agnes Cemetery, will take place in the Spring. The Clark
Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.

Richard E. Mott
Ticonderoga — Richard E. Mott, 66, of Alexandria Avenue,
passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at the Fletcher Allen Health
Care Center of Burlington, Vt., after a short illness.
Born in Ticonderoga on May 21, 1934, he was the son of the late
John and Grace M. (Letson) Mott.
Mr. Mott was a lifetime resident of Ticonderoga. He was
employed by the International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for 39
years before his retirement on November 1, 1995, and was a member
of the company's Quarter Century Club. He was also a licensed
steam boat pilot for the Lake George Steamboat Company in 1956 and
1957.
Mr. Mott was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during
the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Antoinette A. (Alteri)
Mott; one son, Ricky E. Mott of Ticonderoga; two daughters, Sheri
L. Nadeau of Hague and Lisa A. Mott and her fiancé, Robert
Brunelle of Warrensburg; two sisters, Annabelle Pearson and Norma
Norton both of Ticonderoga and one brother, Donald Mott of
Schenectady. He is also survived by six grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Jack Mott, Ernie Mott
and Billy Mott.
Relatives and friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 33 Algonkin St. in
Ticonderoga.
A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m.
at the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Paul
L. Dufford, Jr., pastor, will officiate.
Interment will follow at the family plot of the Valley View
Cemetery of Ticonderoga.
Albert Almon Clark
Elizabethtown — Albert Almon Clark, 84, of Ponca City, Okla.,
formerly of Elizabethtown and Plattsburgh, died Tues. Nov. 28,
2000, in Okla.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1916, in Elizabethtown, the son of
Virgil S. And Stella Mae (Patterson) Clark.
He graduated from Elizabethtown High School and attended
Gettsyburg (Pa.) College, graduating in 1941. He was a loyal Sigma
Chi.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army and attended officers
candidate school for the Air Corps. He was sent to New Guinea
where he stayed for two and 1/2 years. He was then transferred to
the Phillipines before returning home.
In Nov. of 1946, he married Phyllis Robinson, who died in 1971.
In Feb. of 1973, he married Constance Cleary in Ponca City, Okla.
They lived in Plattsburgh where he was a counselor for the school
system. He spent summers at the Underwood Club in New Russia,
where he was president in the late 1970’s. He retired in 1975.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve in 1968 with the rank
of lieutenant colonel.
He is survived by his wife, Constance, of Ponca City, 0kla.; a
stepdaughter, Deborah Cleary of Dallas, Texas; a sister,
Marguerite Pratt of Elizabethtown; two nieces; a nephew and
several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A commital service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, at
Riverside Cemetary in Elizabethtown, with the Rev. Ted Monica
officiating. A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated Monday, Dec.
4, at 11 a.m. in Grace Episcopal Church in Ponca City, Okla.

Pauline R. Lafreniere
ELLENBURG DEPOT — Pauline R. (Shnob) Lafreniere returned to
the Arms of the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000.
She was born on April 25, 1926, in St. Chrysostome, Canada, the
daughter to the late Edmund and Leona (Yelle) Shnob.
Mrs. Lafreniere was a communicant of St. Edmund's Church in
Ellenburg. She worked for many years at Scott's IGA and owned and
operated the Depot Diner in Ellenburg. While living in Corinth she
worked for Taylor's Grocery Store and was a housekeeper for many
in the Fourth Lake area. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline's
of Glens Falls.
Pauline enjoyed playing bingo and aggravation and making
donuts, blankets, braided rugs and pillows for family and friends.
She was known as the "Queen" of Windy Acres in Ellenburg
where she resided prior to moving to the Meadowbrook Nursing Home
in Plattsburgh.
She married Leonard F. Lafreniere on Oct. 28, 1945, who died
before her. Along with her husband, she is predeceased by a son,
Mark Lafreniere; sister Gloria Shnob; brother Paul Shnob and
parents Edmund and Leona Shnob.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons, Frances Jenkins
and husband, Tom, of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Jane Woods and husband,
Bob, of Corinth, James Lafreniere and wife, Suki, of Las Vegas,
Nev., Roger Lafreniere of Clarksville, Tenn., Jacqueline
Lafreniere of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. and Lynn Tolosky and
husband, Todd, of Ellenburg Depot; and 15 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec.
1st, 2000, at the E.F. Drown Funeral Home in Ellenburg Depot. A
Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Edmund's Church in
Ellenburg, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000. Burial will
follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in
Ellenburg Depot.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pauline's memory
to the Ellenburg Center Rescue Squad.
Lloyd E. Benedict , 87, of Stoney
Lonesone Road in Ticonderoga, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at
the Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown.
He was born on Sept. 27, 1913, the son of Nobel and Helen
Benedict.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held
at a place and time to be announced. Burial will be in Ironville
Cemetery in Crown Point.

Israel T. "Izzy" Barcomb, 96, of Drain Pond Road,
Owls Head, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, in the Alice Hyde
Medical Center in Malone, where he had been a patient since
Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000.
Born in Burke on May 1, 1904, he was the son of Thomas and
Nancy (Garrand) Barcomb.
There are no calling hours. Services will be private and at the
convenience of the family.
Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service of
Malone.

Victor F. Lacey
Willsboro — Victor E. Lacey, 75, formerly of Willsboro, died
Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at the Clinton County Nursing Home after a
long illness.
He was bom in Willsboro on Oct. 13, 1925, the son of William
Henry and Lottie Jane (Cooley) Lacey.
In his younger years he was a farmer and he served in the U.S.
Army during World War II, seeing service in the Rhineland and
North Africa.
He is survived by one sister, Irene Hulse and her family of
Willsboro; two brothers, Herbert Lacey and his family of Willsboro
and John Lacey of Lake Placid; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Helen Hathaway and four
brothers, Robert A., William H., James E., and LeRoy.
Calling hours will be at Huestis Funeral Home, Willsboro,
Wednesday Nov. 29, 2000, from 1 to 3 p.m. Funeral services will be
held following calling hours at 3 p.m. Burial with military honors
will be in Memorial Cemetery on the Lakeshore Road, Willsboro
immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the
Willsboro Rescue Squad.
Eber Edward Tallman
Merrill — Eber Edward Tallman, age 75, of Blanche Road,
Merrill, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center
following a long illness.
Born Jan. 16, 1925, in Lyon Mountain, he was the son of
Alexander and Mary (Tatro) Tallman.
On July 4, 1942, he married the former Yvonne Bruso.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years; a son and
daughter-in-law, John and Sylvia Tallman of El Paso, Texas; four
daughters and two sons-in-law, Laurelie Tallman and her companion
Jim LaMountain of Lyon Mountain, Sarah and Edwin McDonald of
Greenville, Judith Tallman of Chester, Conn., and Marie and Daniel
Hooghouse of Apopka, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, George
and Kathy Tallman of Roswell, N.M.; seven grandchildren, Matthew
McDonald, Lori, Karen and Amy Green, Sandra Tallman and Mechelle
and Holly Hooghouse; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Lisa; a grandson,
David; three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Tallman was a veteran of World War II and a member of the
Chateaugay Seventh Day Adventist Church.
By his request there will be no calling hours. A memorial
service will be held on Friday, Dec. 1st, at 10 a.m. at the
Seventh Day Adventist Church at the Forge in Brainardsville.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are
with the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Ellenburg Center
Volunteer Fire Deptartment, the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center or the
Chateaugay Seventh Day Adventist Church.
John Duffin Lyons
Chateaugay — John Duffin Lyons , 78, of West Main Street in
Chateaugay, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical
Center in Malone.
Born in Chateaugay on Jan. 13, 1922, he was the son of John and
Rosa (Duffin) Lyons.
He was married to the former Elizabeth Ryan on Nov. 23, 1950.
Mr. Lyons is survived by his wife of 50 years; and a sister and
brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Harold "Harry" Hanlon of
Chateaugay.
Mr. Lyons was preceded in death by a sister in infancy.
Mr. Lyons was a member of the class of 1938 of Chateaugay High
School. He attended Manhattan College and graduated from Sienna
College in 1952 with a degree in business administration and also
graduated from Stonier Graduate school of Banking at Rutgers
University.
He joined the First National Bank in 1957, Farmers National
Bank in 1966, Bankers Trust of New York and retired from Key Bank
of Northern New York in 1982 as senior vice president.
Mr. Lyons served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Nov.
11, 1942, until Feb. 9, 1946, serving in the Europeon Theater and
was honorably discharged at the rank of Tech 5.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay,
serving on the financial committee, a member of the Chateaugay
American Legion and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a
member of the Knights of Columbus for 41 years, where he was a
past Grand Knight.
Calling hours will be at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on
Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Knights of
Columbus will hold their wake service at 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m.
in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Fay Ager of St. Patrick's
Church officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's
Cemetery in Chateaugay.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Chateaugay Rescue
Squad, the Chateaugay Memorial Library or to St. Patrick's Church.
Rachel M. (Rusty) Garner
Albany — Rachel M. (Rusty) Garner, 72, died Tuesday, Nov. 28,
2000, at St. Peter's Hospital.
Mrs. Garner worked for the Office of General Services for
several years until her retirement. Prior to that she had worked
for Mike's on Grand Street in Albany.
Wife of Herbert H. Garner; mother of Susan LaPierre of Copake
Falls, Connie Morang of Selkirk, Melody Todd of Great Barrington,
Mass., Patricia Ashby of' Coxsackie, Ralph Myers III, Roger Myers
and JaniceTaillon all of North Carolina and Richard and Robert
Myers, both of Albany. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday, Nov. 29,
from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen
Street in Albany. The funeral service will be held on Thursday,
Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. John
Califiano officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in
Albany.

Ruth M. (Kimball) Young
Westport — Ruth M. (Kimball) Young, 96, of Lake View Terrace,
died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at the Horace Nye Home in
Elizabethtown.
She was born on April 24,1904, in Lyon Mountain, the youngest
of ten children born to Frederick and Philomene (Trahan) Kimball.
Ruth is survived by a daughter, Marion R. Gough of Westport;
five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m.
at W.M.Marvins Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A Mass of
Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. at
St. Philip Neri Church in Westport. Burial will follow at the St.
Philip Neri Cemetery.

Laverne A. Arnold
HARKNESS — Laverne A. Arnold, 90, of Hallock Hill Road, died
Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Ontario, Canada, Oct. 21, 1910, the daughter of
John and Anna (Adair) Dillon.
She married H. Ray Arnold on June 16, 1929, in Moriah. He died
July 6, 1976.
She was a member of the Harkness United Methodist Church and
past member of the Peru Grange and the Harkness Woman's
Association.
She enjoyed collecting bottles.
Survivors include one son, Robert Arnold of Harkness; one
daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ernie Bedard of Harkness; one
grandson and his wife, Bryan and Paula Bedard of Harkness; two
great-granddaughters, Chelsea and Caitlyn Bedard; one brother,
Charles A. Dillon of Stillwater; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister, Beryle Roberts; and four
brothers, Harry, George, Bob and Will Dillon.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Lester E. Thew Funeral Home in Peru. A funeral service will be
held Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. at the Harkness United Methodist
Church. Rev. Campbell C. Laker, pastor, will officiate. Burial
will follow in the Harkness Cemetery.

MICHAEL J. BLIER , 43, of Mason Street
in Morrisonville, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at the Salt Lake
City Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
