Mary H. "Mayme" Kavanagh
PLATTSBURGH — Mary H. "Mayme" Kavanagh, of Lakeview
Towers died on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at Evergreen Valley Nursing
Home. At 107 years old, Mayme was Clinton County's oldest
resident. She was born in Ottawa, Ontario, on Feb. 10, 1893, the
daughter of John and Elizabeth Hallinan.
Mayme emigrated to the United States in 1912 to study nursing
at Champlain Valley Hospital School of Nursing, and graduated in
the class of 1915. She married Andrew J. Kavanagh in 1917 and
raised a lovely family of four in Plattsburgh.
After being widowed in 1948, Mayme returned to nursing at
Champlain Valley Hospital, eventually becoming a head nurse. She
retired in 1972 at the age of 79.
She was a lifelong member of St. John's Church and a member of
the Rosary Society, the Legion of Mary, the Third Order of St.
Francis and the Champlain Valley Alumnae Association.
She is survived by her devoted daughter and caregiver, Marie
Lorraine Walsh of Plattsburgh and another loving daughter,
Kathleen Fiorillo of Albany; ten grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren.
Mayme was predeceased by her son, J. Andrew Kavanagh; her
daughter, Elizabeth Winegar; and her grandson, James T. Fiorillo.
Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 24th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the
Brown Funeral Home on Broad Street in Plattsburgh. A funeral Mass
will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 25th at 10 a.m at St. John's
Church. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to St. John's Church, 7
Margaret St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
KENNETH W. DUMAS , 89, of Willard
Street and formerly of Whitten Road in Malone, died Monday Nov.
20, 2000, at Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, Vt.
He had been a patient there since Nov. 19, 2000.
He was born in Malone on Jan. 2, 1911, the son of the late
Walter 0. and Anna (Brockway) Dumas.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. The Malone Knights of
Columbus will conduct a wake service on Friday at 7 p.m. at the
funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
Saturday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be
in Notre Dame Cemetery.
MARGARET C. WHITE, 96, formerly of Loon Lake, died Tuesday,
Nov. 21, 2000 at Glens Falls Hospital, Glens Falls.
She was born on July 19, 1904 in Ozonia, N.Y.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 2 p.m Saturday at the
Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. The funeral service
will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in
Merrilsville Cemetery, Loon Lake.
GARNET W. "WOODCHUCK" WHITE, 65, of Beman Street,
Malone, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, Nov. 21, 2000, at the
Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.
He was born in Malone on July 5, 1935, the son of the late
Harold and Mildred (LaClair) White Sr.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial
will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in
Malone. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
DONALD G. FOUNTAIN, 41, of Rt. 122, Constable, died
unexpectedly Tuesday evening, Nov. 21, 2000, at the Alice Hyde
Hospital in Malone.
He was born in Malone on June 2, 1959, the son of Richard and
Sally Hosson Fountain.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the
Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial
will be celebrated Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi
Church in Constable. Burial will be in St. Francis of Assisi
Cemetery.

Gordon A. Mather
Keene — On Nov. 2, 2000, Gordon A. Mather left this world
behind and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Gordon was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 23, 1930. He
attained Eagle Scout rank and graduated from Kent State University
in 1952 with a bachelor of arts in accounting. He was president of
Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and was in the ROTC.
Gordon married Patricia Crites of Akron, Ohio, in 1953 and
served in the Korean War from 1953 to 1954 as a first lieutenant.
Upon returning from the war, he entered Western Reserve and
graduated with a masters in business in 1956. In 1957, he joined
IBM as a salesman and retired as Internal Quality Control manager
36 years later.
On retirement, Gordon and Pat moved from Armonk, N.Y. to Keene,
where he joined Adirondack Reality. He served on the Board of the
Keene Valley Neighborhood House and spent the last seven years of
his life thoroughly enjoying the pristine beauty of the Adirondack
Mountains.
Gordon is survived by his wife Pat; his brother Bob; three
daughters, Anne Knickerbocker of Michigan, Ruth Trace of Manhattan
and Jean Andrews of New Jersey. Gordon and Pat also have six
grandchildren.
The family suggests that any gifts in lieu of flowers be made
to Essex County High Peaks Hospice, Keene Fire Department or the
Keene Valley Neighborhood House in his memory.
Memorial services were held at his home with his family. To God
be the Glory.

Russell "Red" Baker
Port Henry — Russell "Red" Baker of the Lee House
Apartments, Port Henry, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000 at his
apartment.
He was born on Sept. 17, 1934, at Crown Point the son of
Russell and Antoinette (Quesnel) Baker.
Red was a self-employed carpenter. He served in the U.S. Marine
Corps during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Port Henry Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Gilbo) Baker; his
daughter, Kimberly Carr of Moriah; his son, Kevin Baker of
Tennessee; his grandchildren, Stacey, Matthew, Amber and Ryan; his
sisters, Nonnie Bevilacqua of Ticonderoga and Linda Blaise of Port
Henry; his brothers, Francis Baker of Port Henry and William Baker
of Port Henry.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, from 7 to 9
p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at 10
a.m. from St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry. The Rev. Michael
Toth will officiate.

the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
Private funeral services will be conducted at the convenience
of the family.

Edward V. Brady
Saranac Lake — Edward V. Brady, 66, of Tara Drive in Saranac
Lake, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Albany Medical Center in
Albany.
Born March 9, 1934 in Attica, he was a son of Peter and
Gertrude (Kelly) Brady.
Mr. Brady was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Air
Force.
Mr. Brady was a graduate of Clinton Community College and
earned a bachelor's degree in counseling from the State University
of New York in 1973. He was with the New York State Department of
Corrections for 30 years, retiring from Adirondack Correctional
Facility in Ray Brook in 1989.
He was a member of the New York State Ski Racing Association,
was active with Little League Baseball and the Fifth Quarter Club.
He enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, local youth athletics and
his family. He was a loving father and beloved husband.
Survivors include his wife, the former Joann Coffey, whom he
married Aug. 31, 1957, in Attica; three sons, Peter Brady and his
wife Marliese of Stuttgart, Germany, Mark Brady of Saranac Lake
and Kevin Brady and his wife Teresa of New York City; two
grandchildren, Max Brady and Hanna Lisa Brady, both of Stuttgart,
Germany; three sisters, Ruth Hulshoff of Alexander, Rita Spanitz
of Lancaster and Janet Spencer of Attica; and several nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Leo Brady and a sister,
Patricia Brady.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the
Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Bible Vigil will be
held at 8 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be held
Friday at 11:15 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church, with Fr. Joseph
Wheelock officiating. Interment will follow in St. Bernard’s
Cemetery.
Friends wishing to remember Mr. Brady may make contributions to
the Saranac Lake River Walk in care of the funeral home.
Thomas R. Grinley Sr.
Plattsburgh — Thomas R. Grinley Sr., of Plattsburgh, passed
away suddenly on Friday, Nov. 19. 2000, at Winchester Hospital in
Massachusetts.
He is the son of Helen (Norwood) and the late Joseph Grinley of
Wilmington, Mass..
Mr. Grinley has lived in Plattsburgh for eight years, after
having retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Prior to that, he
lived in North Reading, Mass., for more than 27 years. Mr. Grinley
was a proud member of AA for the past 16 years.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia A. (Igoe); his
son Thomas and wife Susan Donnelly of Londonderry, N.H.; his
daughter Dee Jaynes and husband Gifford of Reading, Mass.; and his
daughter Donna DellaPiana and fiancé Philip Heywood of Saranac.
His siblings are Dorothy Calabro of Wilmington and the late Joseph
Jr. He is also survived by his four beloved grandchildren, Alyson
DellaPiana of Saranac and Justin, Caryssa and Alicia Jaynes, all
of Reading, Mass.
Calling hours will be at Nichols Funeral Home at 187 Middlesex
Avenue in Wilmington, Mass., on Tuesday, Nov. 21st, from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass will be said by family member Fr. James
Woods, SJ at St. Thomas' Church, 126 Middlesex Avenue in
Wilmington. Interment will follow at the Holy Hood Cemetery in
Brookline, Mass.
Barry L. Hinkel
Dannemora — Barry L. Hinkel, 44, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000,
at his residence.
He was born in Denville, N.J. on Aug. 22, 1956, the son of
Walter and Janet (Buist) Hinkel.
He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Julie
Hinkel of Perrys Mills; and two nephews, Jamie and Justin Dubois.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 3 p.m. at
the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Champlain. A funeral service
will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday from the funeral home
chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the Dannemora Rescue Squad.
Arthur H. Brady
Las Vegas, Nev. — Arthur H. Brady, 75, of Las Vegas, Nev. and
formerly of Malone, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2000, in Las
Vegas, after a brief illness.
He was born in Churubusco on Aug. 20, 1925, to Thomas and
Isabel (O'Meara) Brady.
He graduated from Chateaugay High School and received his
bachelor's degree from St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vt. He
received his master's degree from St. Lawrence University.
Arthur taught secondary English at the high schools in Altona
and Mooers. He is fondly remembered as a teacher and English
Department Head at the Malone Central High School for many years.
He also served as district coordinator for Secondary Remedial
Reading and Writing.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Lila (Moffatt) Brady. He leaves
his son, Michael Brady and his daughter, Jean and her husband
Kenneth Fairchild. He also leaves his very special granddaughter,
Katie Fairchild.
He was predeceased by his three brothers, Thomas Henry Brady,
Rev. Lawrence K. Brady and James G. Brady. He was also predeceased
by his first wife, Ruth McKee Brady.
A funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on
Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000 at 9 a.m. at St Joseph's Church at 132
West Main Street in Malone. A breakfast will follow at Gallagher's
Restaurant at 227 West Main Street. Burial will take place in the
Churubusco Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Donations may be made to the Malone Food Pantry, Catholic
Charities, 42 Fort Covington St.,
Malone, NY 12953, or a charity of your choice.
David W. White
Keeseville — David W. White, age 57, of the Cold Spring Road
in Keeseville, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 11, 2000, after
complications arose from lung cancer. He was surrounded by his
family.
He was born to Levi and Madeline (Daniels) White in Peru, on
Jan. 18, 1943, and lived in the area his whole life.
He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard from 1961 to
1967. He spent many years working as a mechanic, carpenter and
logger.
As a Roman Catholic, he had a deep and sustaining faith in the
Lord. His family and friends enjoyed his wit and his talent in
playing the guitar and singing and a gift for whistling.
He was a knowledgeable woodsman and loved the outdoors,
spending many a summer hunting ginseng in the Adirondack
Mountains.
David is survived by his father; a daughter, Leane Christiana
and her husband Mark and their children Rebecca and Rachel of
Saranac; a companion of many years, Dorothy Thompson and her
children, Laurie and James; his brothers and sisters, Maurice and
Cathy White of Willsboro, Daniel and Sherry White of Peru, Edward
and Jane White Wells of Vasselboro, Maine, Paul and Judy White
Ford of Clintonville and Robert and Anita White Steiner of Texas;
and many nieces and nephews.
Services for family and friends were held at Zaumetzer-Sprague
Funeral Home in AuSable Forks on Nov. 15th, with Father Damaris
officiating. He was laid to rest afterwards in a Christian burial
at Riverview Cemetery in Clintonville.
Harry L. LaBombard , 84, of Merrill,
died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at his residence, in the loving care
of his family and Hospice of the North Country.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at
the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. A Mass of
Christian burial will. be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday from St.
Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Burial will follow in the parish
cemetery.
Ernest William Reid , 70, of the
Donahue Road in Malone, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at the Green
Manor Nursing Home in Hudson. He had been a resident there since
1997.
He was born in Dickinson on Feb. 23, 1930, the son of the late
Charles and Delilah (Sweet) Reid.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
at the Wesleyan Church in Malone. A funeral service will follow at
1 p.m. at the Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. John Milligan
officiating.
Burial will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery in Dickinson.
Arrangements were by the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in
Malone.
Harold S. Miller, 89, of Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake
Placid, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical
Center at Saranac Lake.
He was born Aug. 10, 1911, near Vilna, Lithuania.
Services will be at the Birnbaum Funeral Rome in Syracuse, at 2
p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000. Burial will follow in Temple Beth
El Cemetery in Syracuse.
Larry E. Keniston Jr., 27, of Tupper Lake, died Friday,
Nov. 17, 2000, in Sutter County, California.
He was born on Sept. 24, 1973, in Saranac Lake, the son of
Larry and Jeannette (Bourdreau) Keniston.
Calling hours will be at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake
from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, and from noon to 2 p.m. on
Wednesday, Nov. 22. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name
Church at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, with Fr. Christopher Carrara
officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Holy
Name Cemetery.

M. Craig Murray
BUFFALO — M. Craig Murray died Saturday, Nov.
18, 2000 in Buffalo, after a brief illness. He was 52.
Craig was an area sales manager in upstate N.Y.
for Molson U.S.A. and Miller Brewing Company.
He was actively involved in coaching his sons’
sports activities. He enjoyed golf and spending time with family
and friends.
Mr. Murray is survived by his wife, Kristine
(Burr), an Erie County sheriff’s deputy; a daughter, Kelly, of
Rochester, N.Y. and her husband Richard W. Polycn; two sons,
Padraic and Brendan; and two granddaughters, Ryley and Alexa. He
is also survived by three brothers, Owen (Myrtle) of Altamont,
N.Y., Dr. Garth of Bath, N.Y., and Glenn (Linda) of Kemmerer,
Wyoming; and three sisters, Julia Casey of Hudson Falls, N.Y.,
Leta (Kenneth) Lobdell and Nina (D.J.) Morgan of Chateaugay, N.Y.,
as well as many nieces and nephews and loving friends.
Craig Murray was born in Chateaugay, N.Y. and
was the son of the late Leo and Irene (Bush) Murray.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.,
Tuesday, Nov. 21 at the Dietrich Funeral Home Inc., 2480
Kensington Ave., Amherst, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be
offered at Saints Peter and Paul Church at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday,
Nov. 22, 2000.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested
that donations be made in Craig’s memory to Hospice Buffalo, 225
Como Park Boulevard, Cheektawaga, N.Y., 14227, or a Hospice of
your choice.
Charles W. Cameron
CUMBERLAND HEAD — Charles W. Cameron, 71, of
901 Cumberland Head Road died Saturday evening, Nov. 19, 2000, at
his home.
He was born in Boston, Mass., on May 14, 1929,
the son of Warren and Edith (Brunton) Cameron.
Mr. Cameron married the former Shirley
MacArthur at the 1st Presbyterian Church of New Hampton, N.Y., in
1954.
He was a professional musician for over 29
years, and played the trumpet in many original Broadway
productions, and can be heard on original recording albums such as
"Hello Dolly" and "Annie." Mr. Cameron retired
in 1983. He and his wife lived in Valhalla, N.Y., until moving to
Cumberland Head in 1995.
Mr. Cameron was a member of the New York City
Musicians Local #802 and former member of the Free and Accepted
Masons.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; one son,
Scott Cameron of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and one daughter,
Robin Cameron-Phillips and her husband William Phillips of
Plattsburgh.
Calling hours will be held Monday evening from
6 to 8 p.m. at Mr. Cameron’s home.
There will be no public funeral services.
Memorial gifts, in his name, may be given to
Hospice of the North Country.
The R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is
in charge of the arrangements.
Francelia Jane McKeown Lynch
TICONDEROGA — Francelia Jane McKeown Lynch,
71, of Lord Howe Estates in Ticonderoga died unexpectedly
Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000 at the Moses-Ludington Hospital in
Ticonderoga.
She was born in Ticonderoga on Dec. 8, 1928,
the daughter of Lemund and Bernice (McCaughin) McKeown.
Jane was a member and officer of the Mohican
Chapter of Home Bureau, the Catholic Daughters of America, the
Ticonderoga American Legion Auxiliary and the Recycled Teenagers
of Lord Howe Estates.
Besides being a long-time member of
Moses-Ludington Hospital Auxiliary, Jane was prominently named by
that group as "Ticonderoga’s 1981 Woman of the Year."
During the last decade, she also received numerous county and
community senior citizen volunteer awards.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic
Church. She was a lay leader of the church as well as serving as
one of St. Mary’s Eucharist Ministers.
She is survived by her estranged husband,
Francis J. Lynch of Ticonderoga; two sons, James of Boise, Idaho,
and Ronald of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Frances Elizarde of
Bristol, Vt. and Marcy Kelsea of Milford, N.H.; two brothers,
Thomas McKeown of East Berne and James McKeown of Salt Lake City,
Utah; six sisters, Fredericka (Dolly) McCurdy of Vorreheesville,
Jean Daniels of Fla., Rebecca Sayers of Granville, Linda Matyes of
Fla., and Jackie Wright and Barbara Kennon, both of Ticonderoga;
seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a special friend,
Patrick McBride of Ticonderoga; and uncles, several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by a
son, Joseph, and a daughter, Tori; two brothers, Lemund and
Michael; and three sisters, Bernice LaDuc, Sue Rivard and Patricia
Mulligan.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19,
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Connery & Gunning Funeral
Home in Ticonderoga. A traditional Catholic Wake Service will be
held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church
in Ticonderoga with the Rev. Richard Huber officiating.
Jane will be buried beside her two children in
St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests
memorials in Jane’s memory to research at the American Cancer
Society, c/o Breast Cancer Research, 380A Glen St., Glens Falls,

Evelyn W. Anderson
PORT HENRY — Evelyn W. Anderson, 88, of 152
North Main St., Port Henry died Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Horace
Nye Home in Elizabethtown, N.Y.
She was born on July 3, 1912 in Mapleton,
Maine, the daughter of Samuel and Alverta (Condon) Willard.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her sister, Ethel
Edmonds of Keene Valley, and nieces and nephews. She was
predeceased by her husband, Chester Anderson in 1994; her sister
Alverta Gravelle; and her brothers Charles Willard and Woodrow
Willard.
Calling hours will be Monday, Nov. 20 from 7 to
9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A funeral
service will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. at the
funeral home, with the Rev. Alice Hobbs officiating. Burial will
be in the Union Cemetery in Moriah.
