Francelia Jane Lynch

Ticonderoga — Francelia Jane (McKeown) Lynch, 71, of Lord Howe Estates in Ticonderoga, died unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at the Moses Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga.

She was born in Ticonderoga on Dec. 8, 1928, the daughter of Lemund and Bernice (McCaughin) McKeown.

Jane was a member and officer of the Mohican Chapter of Home Bureau, the Catholic Daughters of America, the Ticonderoga American Legion Auxiliary and the Recycled Teenagers of Lord Howe Estates.

Besides being a long time member of Moses Ludington Hospital Auxiliary, Jane was prominently named by that group as "Ticonderoga's 1981 Woman of the Year". During the last decade, she also received numerous county and community senior citizen volunteer awards.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a lay leader of the church as well as serving as one of St. Mary's Eucharist Ministers.

She is survived by her estranged husband, Francis J. Lynch of Ticonderoga; two sons, James of Boise, Idaho and Ronald of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Frances Elizarde of Bristol, Vt., and Marcy Kelsea of Milford, N.H.; two brothers, Thomas McKeown of East Berne and James McKeown of Salt Lake City, Utah; six sisters, Fredericka (Dolly) McCurdy of Vorreheesville, Jean Daniels of Florida, Rebecca Sayers of Granville, Linda Matyes of Florida and Jackie Wright and Barbara Kennon, both of Ticonderoga; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special friend, Patrick McBride of Ticonderoga; and uncles, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by a son, Joseph and a daughter, Tori; two brothers, Lemund and Michael; and three sisters, Bernice LaDuc, Sue Rivard and Patricia Mulligan.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Connery & Gunning Funeral Home in Ticonderoga. A traditional Catholic Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ticonderoga, with the Rev. Richard Huber officiating.

Jane will be buried beside her two children in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials in Jane's memory to research at the American Cancer Society, c/o Breast Cancer Research, 380A Glen Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Margaret N. "Anne" Moore

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Margaret N. "Anne" Moore, 86, of the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility.

She was born in Rouses Point on Aug. 21, 1914, the daughter of the late John F. and Margaret A. (Casey) Nolan.

She was a parishioner at St. John's Church for many years and was also very active in the Elmore SPCA for many years. She was also a member of the Legion of Mary at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh.

She is survived by a sister, Patricia Nolan of Plattsburgh; and a nephew, William Kennedy of Plattsburgh.

She is predeceased by her husband, Harold Moore; and a sister, Alice Nolan Kennedy.

Calling hours will be Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at 11 a.m. from the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick's Cemetery in Rouses Point.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Robert Weed DeLano

Ticonderoga — Robert Weed DeLano, 86, of Ticonderoga and North Hudson, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home of Ticonderoga.

He was born in Ticonderoga on July 3, 1914, the son of the late Dean Y. and Carrie B. (Weed) DeLano.

Mr. DeLano was a lifetime resident of Ticonderoga and North Hudson. He was the owner and operator of Bob's Diner of Ticonderoga for many years. He was also employed by Crammond Lumber, Down's Clothing and Shoe Stores, and Moses-Ludington Hospital, all of Ticonderoga and the Lake George Steam Boat Company.

Mr. DeLano was a member of the Mt. Defiance Lodge 794, Free and Accepted Masons of Ticonderoga.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Helene H. (Stanton) DeLano; two daughters, Deanne R. Crammond of Ticonderoga and Claire B. Moore of North Hudson; five grandchildren, Richard J. Moore, Erin E. Moore, Rebecca J. Hutchins, Ruth A. Crammond and Duane A. Crammond; and one great-grandchild, Daulton A. Moore.

Calling hours and a Masonic service were held Friday at the Wilcox and Regan Funeral Home, 33 Algonkin Street in Ticonderoga. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18th, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Paul L. Dufford Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Ticonderoga.

Daniel Dean Raymond

Plattsburgh — Daniel Dean Raymond, 40, of Cornelia Street, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at his home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on June 30, 1960, the son of Dean and Jean (Nadeau) Raymond.

Mr. Raymond was a former player and coach for the Plattsburgh North Stars Football Team. He served in the U.S. Army with the Peace Keeping Forces in Korea.

Mr. Raymond was a construction worker and worked in the Northern New York area for many years, retiring due to illness in 1996.

Survivors include his parents, Dean and Jean Raymond of Plattsburgh; his sister, Lori Raymond and her husband Helmut Vogt of Simpsonville, S.C.; his aunt, Cheryl Nadeau of Zepher Hills, Fla.; and two nephews, Jacob Raymond and Jonas Vogt, both of Simpsonville, S.C.

Calling hours will be held Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, followed by services at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Alexander H. Lamkins

SARANAC — Alexander H. Lamkins, 87, of the True Brook Road, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 15, 2000, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington.

He was born in Saranac on Dec. 4, 1912, the son of Edgar and Mabel (Siltz) Lamkins.

Mr. Lamkins married the former Margaret Keysor in 1948.

He was a member of the Saranac United Methodist Church and was a former trustee there. Mr. Lamkins was also past president and former trustee for Saranac Independence Cemetery.

He owned and operated the family farm in Saranac for many years until 1947, when he became highway superintendent for the Town of Saranac, until retiring in 1976.

Survivors include his wife Margaret; two daughters, Barbara LeDuc and her husband Raymond of Saranac and Margie Larsen and her husband Gale of Elizabethtown, Ky.; one sister, Mabel Leslie of Albany; five grandchildren, Raymond LeDuc and his wife Paulette, Scott LeDuc and Jeannine LeDuc, all of Saranac and Alex Larsen and Katie Larsen, both of Elizabethtown, Ky.; one great-grandchild, Jacob LeDuc; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Saranac United Methodist Church, followed by burial in Independence Cemetery.

Gifts in his memory may be made to the Saranac United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Donna A. Coryea

Altona — Donna A. Coryea, 37, of Joe Wood Road in Altona, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York City.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 24, 1963, the daughter of Robert and Edith (Rabideau) Surprenant.

She was married to Greg Coryea on Sept. 10, 1988, in St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville.

Mrs. Coryea is survived by her husband, along with three children, Lauren, age 10, Brandon, age 8 and Jared, age 5, all at home; her parents, Robert and Edith Surprenant of Mooers Forks; a brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Lisa Surprenant of Mooers; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and John Coulum of Kingston and Darcy and Michael Connelly of Norfolk, Va.; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Nina Coryea of Morrisonville; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Jodi Coryea of Indiana and Jill and Alvin McClean of Massachusetts; and four nieces and two nephews.

Donna was a graduate of Northeastern Clinton, the Class of 1981, and Our Lady of Victory Secretarial School. She was employed by Amidom Medical Group for 13 years, then CVPH Medical Center for a year, before illness forced her to stay home with her family. Donna had great love for her children and husband. Donna was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 17th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18th, in St. Ann's Church, with Rev Gerald Cerank officiating. Burial will take place at St. Ann's Cemetery in Mooers Forks.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Ann's Church or the Leukemia Society.

Robert Weed DeLano

Ticonderoga — Robert Weed DeLano, 86, of Ticonderoga and North Hudson, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home of Ticonderoga.

Catherine L. Bell

Rotterdam, N.Y. — Catherine L. (Ottman) Bell, 78, of Keator Drive in Rotterdam, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Ellis Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 28, 1922, in Rotterdam and was a lifelong resident.

She married Richard A. Bell on Dec. 20, 1947. Mrs. Bell was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard A. Bell of Rotterdam; a daughter, Sharon Ann Lewis of Peru; a sister, Gladys Zickler of Rotterdam; and two nieces and two nephews.

She was a graduate of Draper High School and Russell Sage College and a member of the Fishers United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bell was a 50-year member of the George Hope Chapter of the Eastern Star and a member and former Noble Grand of the Hillhurst Rebeccah Lodge.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue in Schenectady, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held on Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at 9:30 a.m. at the Fishers United Methodist Church, 1913 Helderburg Avenue in Schenectady. Rev. Dana Carroll of Fishers Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be at the Satatoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, 2000.

Inger Marie Blanchfield

Saranac Lake — Inger Marie Blanchfield, 57, of Roosevelt Street in Bloomingdale, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center at Saranac Lake.

She was born on Sept. 14, 1943, in Oslo, Norway, the daughter of Harry T. and Aase (Gulbrandsen) Gregersen.

Inger Blanchfield moved to the North Country in 1967 from St. James, Long Island. From age 13 until 19, she modeled in television commercials, magazine covers and advertisements in New York City. Inger was a self-employed florist and interior decorator in Saranac Lake. Inger was responsible for decorating the first floor of 3-5 Riverside Drive apartments during its renovation. She owned and operated Tupper Lake Florist from 1985 to 1991. From 1990 until present, she was the proprietor of the Saranac Lake Florist, which will continue to operate within the family.

Survivors include her husband, John R. Blanchfield Jr., of Bloomingdale; her mother, Aase Gregersen of Saint James, Long Island; a daughter, Kimberly Karin Botto of Saranac Lake; a son, Charles Michael Botto and his wife Valerie Cookson-Botto of Pawcatuck, Conn.; a daughter, Michele Elizabeth Botto Studlack and husband George Studlack III and children, George Studlack, Gregory Studlack and Ellen Studlack, her grandchildren, all of Malone; a brother-in-law, C. Russell Jordan and his son, her nephew, Erik Jordan and his daughter, her niece, Jennifer Karin Jordan, all of Long Beach, Calif.; as well as many aunts and uncles in Norway.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry T. Gregersen; and sister, Karin Helene Jordan.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale, with Father Joseph Trombley officiating and Deacon James Ellis assisting.

Nancy J. Sanders

Liverpool, N.Y. — Nancy J. (McConley) Sanders, 55, died at her home in Liverpool on Nov. 15, 2000.

She was born in Mineville and attended Mineville High School and Albany Business College.

She worked for eight years as a seamstress for Joseph J. Pietrafess Company in Liverpool. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Liverpool.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Kenneth Sanders; two sons, Mark of Liverpool and Darren with the U.S. Army stationed in Germany; and a brother, Robert McConley of Roxbury, N.J.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second Street, in Liverpool, with a funeral service at 8 p.m. Calling hours will also be held at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry on Monday, Nov. 20th, from 9 to 11 a.m., with a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery in Moriah.

Leonard "Ed" Shappy

Westport — Leonard "Ed" Shappy, 64, of Westport, died Nov. 15, 2000, at the Ftetcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.

He was born Oct. 4, 1936, at Lewis, the son of Leonard and Elnora (MacDougal) Shappy.

Ed married Patricia Munson on Nov. 22, 1958.

He retired from International Paper Co. in Ticonderoga with 16 years service.

Ed was an avid horseman and hunter. He had a great love of horseracing and he raced for many years at Saratoga Raceway and the county fairs.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Shappy; his son and daughter-in-law, Floyd "Buddy" and Joanne Shappy of Port Henry; his daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Randy Fleming of Moriah; his grandchildren, Brittany, David and Brandon Fleming of Moriah, Jack and Tristan Shappy of Port Henry, Amy and Brandy MacDonald of Peru and Stacy and Matt Maneri of Ticonderoga; two great-grandchildren, Frank and Cole of Peru; his sister, Iola Collinson of Lewis; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church in Lewis. Burial will follow in the Lewis Cemetery.

Imogene Lavigne, 75, recently of Massena and formerly of Bloomingdale, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at the Massena Memorial Hospital in Masena.

She was born Jan, 2, 1925, in Saranac Lake.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Vermontville.

Fleurette T. LaFontaine, 71, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Church in Champlain. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery on Church Street. Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.

Mary D. Marino

Ticonderoga — Mary D. Marino, 84, of Mt. Vista Apartments on Alexandria Avenue in Ticonderoga died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, while visiting in New Haven, Conn.

She was born in Ticonderoga on June 19, 1916, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Young) Durand.

Mary worked in Connecticut with Sikorsky Aircraft until she was 55. She then returned to her hometown, where she owned and operated Mary's Taxi for over 30 years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Marino.

She is survived by one sister, Theresa Hawthorne of Florida; one brother, Earl Durand of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday morning, Nov. 17th, from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at the Connery & Gunning Funeral Home in Ticonderoga. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at St. Mary's Church in Ticonderoga, with the Rev. Richard Huber officiating.

Burial will follow in the Marino family plot in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery in Ticonderoga.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials in Mary's name to the Adopt a Student Program in care of St. Mary's School in Ticonderoga.

Daniel Dean Raymond, 40, of Cornelia Street in Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at his home.

Arthur Stanley Potopinski, 83, of Church Street in Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center at Saranac Lake.

He was born May 8, 1917 in Buffalo.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation took place at Whispering Maples Crematory in Ellenburg Depot.

Marjorie J. Cote, 64, of Lindsay Avenue in Tupper Lake, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Mrs. Cote was born on Sept. 17, 1936, in Tupper Lake, the daughter of Van. N. and Beulah (Laramee) Staves.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Nov. 16th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake on Friday, Nov. 17th, at 10 a.m., with Fr. Donald Kramberg officiating. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Harriet M. Washburn

Crown Point — Harriet M. Washburn, 78, of the Bridge Road in Crown Point, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at her home.

She was born at Mooers Forks on Dec. 23, 1921, the daughter of Ralph and Ann (LaFountain) Hurlburt.

She was married to Robert Washburn on June 7, 1947, at the United Church in Bethel, Vt.

She was a member and past matron of the Laetitia Chapter 263 and the Order of the Eastern Star in Mineville. She was a member of Mineville Post 6802 VFW Auxiliary and the founder of the Coot Hill Stompers.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Washburn; her son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Carol Washburn of Bethel, Vt., and their children, Loren and Matthew; her son, Douglas Pilon and family of West Chazy; her sister, Virginia Barcomb of Peru; and her brother, Ralph Hurlburt of Plattsburgh.

She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Theresa Atkinson and Amelia Cote; and her brother, Eugene Hurlburt.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, with Rev. Alice Hobbs officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Rochester, Vt.

Dorothy A. Tellstone

Plattsburgh — Dorothy A. Tellstone, 90, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility.

She was born in Baltimore, Md., on Feb. 4, 1910, the daughter of James and Amelia (Vogel) Heywood. Dorothy married Joseph Tellstone in Elton, Md., on Dec. 7, 1933.

Dorothy graduated from Strayer Business School in Baltimore, Md. In 1946, she moved to Plattsburgh with her husband and in 1953 worked as a Clinton County Court stenographer and secretary for Judge Sherlock Haley, then for Judge Robert Feinberg.

After her retirement on July 6, 1973, she worked part time for nine years for Henry VanAcker from 1981 to 1990. Dorothy was an avid reader all her life and a volunteer for many years at the CVPH Medical Center.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Frederick J. Martin of Plattsburgh; two sons, Joseph Tellstone Jr. and his wife Shirley of Long Lake and James Tellstone of Westerose, Alberta, Canada; one brother, James Heywood of Baltimore, Md.; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Tellstone Sr.; a grandson, Frederick J. Martin Jr.; and a sister, Mildred Moore.

Private calling hours and funeral services will be held for the family. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Chazy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in her memory.

The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia (Joyal) Righi

Las Vegas, Nev. — Patricia (Joyal) Righi passed away Nov. 1, 2000, in Las Vegas, Nev.

She was born in AuSable Forks on March 3, 1935, the daughter of the late Howard and Liz Joyal.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jordon Righi, formerly of Plattsburgh; one son, Jordon S. Righi of California; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Don Jacobson, Deya and Phil Hawk and Lorrie and Darrin Heriford, all of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandsons, Mike and Daniel Righi of California, Ted Heriford and Andrew Jacobson of Las Vegas, Nev.; and eight brothers and sisters, Eddy, John and Bobby Joyal, Paula, Margaret, Mary, Laura and Helen.

She is also missed by two close friends, Alma and Ann Mousseau of AuSable Forks.

83, of the Devils Den Road in Altona, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Chazy on Nov. 4, 1917, the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Lucia)Young.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Altona. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. from Holy Angels Church in Altona. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Chazy.

Peter "Pete" Pritchard Sr.,

77, of Factory Street in Malone, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at his home, while under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.

He was born in Malone on Dec. 1, 1922, the son of the late Albert and Anna (LaRocque) Pritchard.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. John Bosco Church, with the Rev. Thomas Moody officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery

Vedora Mabel (Reed) Slattery

Staunton, Va. — Vedora Mabel (Reed) Slattery, 79, of 203 Fraser Lane in Staunton, Va., died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at her residence.

She was born April 28, 1921, in Moriah.

She lived most of her life in Port Henry and was a home health nurse. She moved to Staunton, Va., in 1993, after her retirement.

She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Staunton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Slattery, in 1978; a son, Bernard F. Slattery in 1992; a brother, Durwood Reed; and a sister, Helen French.

Survivors include three sons, Donald J. Slattery and his wife Rita, David L. Slattery and his wife Kathy and Kevin T. Slattery and his wife Mary, all of Albany; three daughters, Carol S. Williams and her husband Frank and Laura E. Slattery, both of Staunton, Va., and Linda K. DeMasi and her husband Tom of Watertown; two sisters-in-law, Jean Reed of Saratoga and Joan Rotella of Mineville; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Gage Anthony Ruddy

Plattsburgh — Gage Anthony Ruddy, infant, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He is the son of John and Courtney (Noble) Ruddy.

Gage is also survived by his sister, Hayley Ruddy of Plattsburgh; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Cheryl Noble of Morrisonville; his paternal grandmother, Lorraine Ruddy of Sagandoga Lake; and his great-grandparents, Edward and Geraldine Noble of Lewiston. Gage is also survived by several aunts and uncles.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000 at 10 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Morrisonville.

Gary A. Sodaro

Willsboro — Gary A. Sodaro, 76, of Lakeshore Road in Willsboro, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center after a short illness.

He was born in Buffalo on Oct. 20, 1924, the son of Anthony and Angelina (LaPalia) Sodaro.

He was the owner of the Willsboro Lanes for many years, a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Essex, a member of Iroqois Lodge 715 A&FM in Essex and a member of the Willian Nolan American Legion Post 405 in Willsboro.

As a World War II veteran, he served in the South Pacific Theater with the 6th Army.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Beverly (Heald) Sodaro; two sons and their wives, Gregory and Maureen Sodaro of Franklin, Vt., and David and Diane Sodaro of Canton, Conn.; one daughter and her husband, Lisa and Curt Boardman of Willsboro; six grandchildren, Brian and Alesha Sodaro of Franklin, Vt., Jessica and Katie Sodaro of Canton, Conn., and Nicholas and Arnie Boardman of Willsboro; a sister, Milly Carroll of Buffalo; a niece, who was his goddaughter, Bonita McMorrow of Buffalo; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Arthur and Averill Heald of St. Albans, Vt.

Calling hours will be held at the Huestis Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Church in Essex on Thursday, Nov. 16th, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Reber Cemetery.

William 0. Rock Sr., 76, of South Peru Street in Plattsburgh, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Champlain on March 31, 1924, the son of John and Cora (Bouyea) Rock.

Calling hours and funeral services are private at the request of the family. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Marie Edith DeLoria, 82, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at the Uihlein Mercy Center after a lengthy illness. She formerly resided at 30 Greenwood Street in Lake Placid.

Marie was born in Lake Placid on Jan. 29, 1918, the daughter of Edward A. and Floy (Mussen) DeLoria.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 11 a.m. at the North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid. The Rev. Mark Demers, pastor of the Adirondack Community Church, will be officiating.

The Clark Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Fleurette T. LaFontaine, 71, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be at a later date.

Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.

Irvin Clark Reid Sr.

PLATTSBURGH — Irvin Clark Reid Sr., 82, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at his home on 48 Lakeview Drive. He was born in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Feb. 25, 1918, to Absolum Redman and Victoria Clark Reid. Irvin married Frances Guay of Champlain on July 16, 1945, in Naples, Italy after serving as a major in the Army Field Artillery during World War II. He received special commendation from the Italian and French governments and the Legion of Merit from the U.S. government for his service.

After the war, Irvin and Frances returned to Plattsburgh where he and Gordon Burdo were partners in the Lavin Candy Company. After 46 years, Irvin retired and his sons, Irvin Jr. and Philip are now partners in the business.

Irvin was active in the community. He served twenty-five years on the Board of the State Bank of Albany; he worked with the Clinton County United Way Campaign for many years and served as Chairman of the 1975 drive; he was on the Board of the Kiwanis Club and helped build the YMCA Camp on Rand Hill; he was active in the Elk’s Club where he was a Past Exalted Ruler and a member of the Friday Night Men’s Bowling League until 1992. Irvin was active with the YMCA, the New Industries for Clinton County and the Champlain Development Group. He received the Liberty Bell Award for his outstanding community service from the Clinton County Bar Association.

Irvin was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He spent many happy summers with his family at their camp on Cumberland Head and later retired there. He is survived by four daughters and two sons and their families, Irvin Jr., Patti, Andrew, Philip and Joseph Reid of Plattsburgh; Helen Reid of Warwick, R.I.; Frieda and Elizabeth Coursen of Northbridge, Mass.; Mary Jane, Matthew and John Backman of Saco, Maine; Philip, Luke, Maxwell and Laura Reid of West Chazy; and Phyllis, Michael, David and Jake Lieberman of Old Tappan, N.J. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen and Teddy James of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Lila and John Finley of Purvis, Miss., and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Helen Donahue, Darlene Burke, Laura Facteau and Barbara Dey for the excellent care they gave Irvin.

Calling hours will be Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, from 2 to 4 p.m. from the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Cumberland Head. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.

Andrew B. Costic

SAYRE, Pa. — Andrew B. Costic, 61, of Sayre, Pa., passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000 at his home following an illness.

Born April 9, 1939, in Sayre, Pa., the son of Andrew B. and Isabelle Sieminski Costic. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, South Waverly, Pa. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. On June 13, 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Scanlon. In 1963 he earned a bachelor’s degree from Wilkes College. Upon graduation, he joined the Sears Roebuck & Co. management program. He served as manager in many Sears stores in the New York metropolitan area, retiring in 1993 as a general manager of the Plattsburgh, N.Y. store.

He enjoyed his retirement by teaching children, as a substitute aide, in the Sayre schools, and playing golf. He served on the board of the Shepard Hills County Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, at home; his children and their spouses, Andrew and Laura Costic of Queensbury, N.Y., Cathy and Allen Orshal of Sayre, Matt Costic of Henderson, Nev., and Jean and Don Fahy of Somers Point, N.J.; his six grandchildren, Laura, Drew, Mitchell, Kirsten, Ellen and Ryan. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Diane Costic of Kinnelon, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Family and friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 South Main St., Athens Pa.

A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, South Waverly, with the Rev. Vincent Langan officiating.

Burial will be in the Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Athens, Pa.

Carl J. Bevilacqua

SARANAC LAKE — Carl J. Bevilacqua, 79, of Lower Saranac Lake, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Born Nov. 6, 1921, in Ticonderoga, he was a son of Charles and Natalina (Costa) Bevilacqua.

Mr. Bevilacqua graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy in June of 1948. In 1949, he purchased the Post Office Pharmacy in Saranac Lake from A.B. Husted which he owned and operated until he sold the business to his son James in 1986. He continued to work at the pharmacy with his son following the sale. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1508, Saranac lake, the third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

Mr. Bevilacqua was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps in Radar Counter Measures, B-17s with the 16th Recon Squadron in Africa, and the 15th Airforce in Africa.

Carl married the former Elizabeth "Jim" Gunning on Sept. 12, 1948, at St. Mary’s Church in Ticonderoga. Beside his wife, he is survived by three sons, Michael, James and Robert; three daughters, Mary Raymond, Cherrie Sayles and Janie LaBrake, all of Saranac Lake; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis Bevilacqua of Stuart, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Anita Dedrick, and a brother, John Bevilacqua.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Bible vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Church with Father Joseph Wheelock officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Friends wishing to remember Mr. Bevilacqua may make contributions to the Adirondack Medical Center Renal Dialysis Unit in care of the funeral home.

Sylvia H. Rafferty

TICONDEROGA — Sylvia H. Rafferty, 99, of the Putts Pond Road in Chilson in the Town of Ticonderoga, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000 at the Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury, Vt. following a long illness.

She was born in Ticonderoga on Feb. 10, 1901, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Scott) Fleming.

Mrs. Rafferty was a lifelong member of the Chilson Methodist Church. She was also one of the first to enlist as a nurses-aid at the start of World War II.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Agnes and Donald Smith of the Putts Pond Road; granddaughter and her husband, Sylvia and Fred Hunsdon of the Putts Road; grandson and his wife, Dwinal and Mary Jo Smith of the Putts Pond Road; one sister, Emily Villmore of Ticonderoga; six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

At the request of Mrs. Rafferty there will be no calling hours nor any memorial service. Burial will be conducted in the family plot in the Chilson Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Connery & Gunning Funeral Home, 26 Father Joques Place in Ticonderoga.

JoAnn M. LaPier

SCHUYLER FALLS — JoAnn M. LaPier, 53, of the Peasleeville Road, died Sunday Nov. 12, 2000 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Fort Kent, Maine, Aug. 16, 1947, the daughter of Onezime and Laura (Bourgoin) Herbert.

JoAnn married Marshall LaPier Nov. 16, 1968 in New Briton, Conn.

She was a member of the Peru VFW Post 309 Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed collecting cats and lighthouses.

Survivors include her husband, Marshall of Schuyler Falls; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Kimberly Steele, Marsha and Christopher Blake, Phyllis and Anthony Pettine, Kristine LaPier and Chrystalle LaPier, all of Peru; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Marshall LaPier Jr.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Lester E. Thew Funeral Home in Peru. A funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Peasleeville Cemetery.

Ralph E. Decker

WESTPORT — Ralph E. Decker, 56, of Deshler, Ohio, and formerly of Westport died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Westport, May 1, 1944, the son of Ray and Elizabeth (Caza) Decker.

Ralph was a horse hauler and groomer for many years, and a member of the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association.

He was very much a people person for he had many friends.

Survivors include six brothers and five sisters-in-law, Ray "Skip" and Elizabeth Decker of Westport, Roger and Phoebe Decker of Alder Creek, Ronald and Roberta Decker of Keeseville, Richard and Caroline Decker of Westport, Russell and Fran Decker of Hudson Falls, and Reginald Decker of Saratoga Springs; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Regina and James Westover of Westport, Rena Dickerson of Westport, and Rowena Albert of Plattsburgh; his companion, Pam DiDeminico of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Randall.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at 12 p.m. at the Brainards Forge Cemetery in Elizabethtown.

Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country, or High Peaks Hospice.

Alfred L. Williamson

WEST CHAZY — Alfred L. Williamson, 71, of the Slosson Road died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Los Angeles, Calif. on April 7, 1929, the son of Stanley and Bessie (Lee) Williamson.

Mr. Williamson married the former Mary Ann Wasson in 1962 at the United Congregational in Willsboro.

He was a Korean War veteran and served in the Vermont Air National Guard from 1964 until 1989.

Mr. Williamson was a 1972 graduate of Plattsburgh State University and was a chemist at Wyeth Ayrest Laboratories in Rouses Point for over 30 years, retiring in 1997.

Survivors include his wife Mary Ann; two sons, Matthew Williamson and his wife Samantha of Plattsburgh, and Timothy Williamson of Burlington, Vt.; his mother, Bessie Williamson of Salt Lake City; one brother, Douglas Williamson of Salt Lake City; a granddaughter, Whitney M. Williamson of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

A son, Michael Williamson, died in 1991.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Chazy Presbyterian Church.

Burial will be in Ingraham Cemetery.

Gordon Jones

PLATTSBURGH — Gordon Jones died at age 85 on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at St. Ann's Home in Rochester, N.Y.

Born in North Poultney, Vt., he was the son of the late John J. Jones and Margaret (Williams) Jones.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sophia (Modliszewski) Jones.

He is survived by his children, Emily Jones, Geoffrey (Ann Buerschaper) Jones and Susan Jones, all of Rochester and Barbara (Kevin Cox) Jones-Cox of Sterling, Va.; grandchildren, Kelsey Cox, Lauren Cox and Jason (Jessica) Pleau; brothers-in-law Gene Kolinski and Richard (Dorothy) Modliszewski; sister-in-law, Rose Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

Gordon was an insurance manager for Mutual of Omaha in Plattsburgh.

Funeral services were in Rochester, with interment in Crown Hill Memorial Park in New Hartford, N.Y.

Viola M. Gold

Plattsburgh — Viola M. Gold, 88, of South Peru Street, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh on April 15, 1912, the daughter of the late William and Victorica (Jabaut) Sharron.

Viola was a graduate of Our Lady of Victory Academy, Class of 1930 and had worked at Imperial Wallpaper Mill for 40 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church and the Altar Rosary Society of Our Lady of Victory.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Porter of Plattsburgh; a grandson, Peter Porter and his wife Suk of Mountain Home, Idaho; two adopted grandsons and their spouses, Keith and Cindy Porter of West Chazy and Kevin and Stephanie Porter of Peaseleeville; six adopted great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Lucille Collette; brothers Lester, Harold and Earl Sharron; and a son-in-law, Sherwin "Bud" Porter.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at the Brown Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m., with a funeral service to be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Garvin Demarais, pastor of the Catholic Community of Keeseville, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Wallace H. Russell

Peru — Wallace H. Russell, 84, of Peru Lane, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Peru on May 1, 1916, the son of Philip and Emma (Champagne) Russell.

He married the former Dorothy E. Pelkey on Aug. 5, 1940, in Starksboro, Vt.

Mr. Russell was employed for 30 years with Forrence Orchards in Peru. He enjoyed collecting coins and watching wresting on television.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Russell of Peru; one niece, Edith Hull of Keeseville; and one nephew, Domenic Mini of Massachusetts.

He was predeceased by his parents; and one sister, Isabelle Mini.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Cemetery in Peru, with Rev. Garvin Demarais, pastor of the Catholic Community of Keeseville, officiating.

Donations in his memory may be made to Peru Rescue Squad.

James D. Silver

Beekmantown — James D. Silver, 71, of Durand Road in Beekmantown, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at his home, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Churubusco on June 29, 1929, the son of Lloyd and Catherine (Nichols) Silver.

He was married to the former Sheila Mills on Aug. 7, 1956, in St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay.

Mr. Silver is survived by his wife of 43 years; two daughters, Cynthia Silver of West Chazy and Tammy Silver and her fiancé Gray McCasland of Champlain; three sons and two daughters-in-law, James M. and Deborah Silver of Cadyville, David and Carol Silver of Rome, N.Y., and Scott Silver and his companion Carolyn Gokey of Beekmantown; ten grandchildren, Erin, Kristy, Jamie, Nicole, Zebulon, Robbie, Joanna, Dylan, Elizabeth and Matthew; one great-grandson, Quenton; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Marie and Lawrence Clark of Dover Plains, N.Y., Theresa Skelley of Albany, Irene and Darrell Bow of Chateaugay, Bernadette and Gerald Nichols of Churubusco and Leona and Richard Manor of Ellenburg Depot; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Eunice Silver of Ellenburg Center, Victor Silver and Jean Manor of Churubusco, Gerald and Wanda Silver of Albuquerque, N.M., and Tom and Jill Silver of Wingdale, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Silver.

Mr. Silver attended school in a one-room schoolhouse in Churubusco and then attended Chateaugay High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Army and served four years during the Korean War.

James was a truck driver for over 32 years, retiring in 1991 with St. Johnsbury Trucking in Plattsburgh. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, whose hobbies included woodworking and card playing, but first and foremost was his love for his family.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 13th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14th, in St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay, with Rev. Howard McCasland officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chateaugay.
