"Poochie" Martin
Plattsburgh
— Carl J. "Poochie" Martin, 59, of Sears Boulevard,
died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000.
He was
born in Plattsburgh, the son of Earle and Grace (Tacy) Martin.
Carl
graduated from St. John's in Plattsburgh and Champlain College in
Burlington, Vt. He married the former Rose Portera on July 10,
1965, in Alabama.
Carl was
a U.S. Army veteran. He worked in the Parole Office at Clinton
Correctional Facility in Dannemora. Carl was a communicant at St.
John's Church in Plattsburgh. He was an avid New York Yankees and
New York Giants fan.
Survivors
include his wife, Rose Martin of Plattsburgh; three daughters and
two sons-in-law, Angela and James Fleming of Plattsburgh, Leslie
and Rahn Marion of Plattsburgh and April Martin of Plattsburgh;
one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Helen Martin of
Chateaugay; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Joyce and Leo
LaChappel of Sherburne, N.Y., June Squires of Plattsburgh and
Wanda and Robert Papineau of Plattsburgh; five grandchildren,
Joshua Fleming, Ariel Martin, Dereck Fleming, Brantley Marion and
Jessica Fleming; and several nieces and nephews.
He was
predeceased by one brother, Tyrone "Buzz" Martin.
Calling
hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W.
Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial
will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Church in
Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Ellenburg
Depot — Rita M. Rabideau, 65, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at
her residence.
She was
born in Champlain on April 13, 1935, the daughter of Wilfred and
Elizabeth (Ebare) Roberts.
She was a
member of St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg and was a 1954 graduate
of Mooers Central School.
She is
survived by her husband, Rufus J. Rabideau; a son, Mark Rabideau
of Ellenburg Depot; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Jeff
McNeil of Ellenburg Depot; a stepson and stepdaughter and their
spouses, Brian and Mary Rabideau of Ellenburg Depot and Beverly
and Eddie Nichols of Churubusco; four brothers and sisters-in-law,
Francis and Helen Roberts of Champlain, Morris and Pauline Roberts
of Champlain, Ronald and Janet Roberts of Mooers and Gerald and
Joan Roberts of Mooers; five sisters and two brothers-in-law,
Evelyn Beebe of Coopersville, Doris and Daylord Trombly of Mooers,
Dora Filion of Mooers, Margaret and Jack Dragoon of Mooers and
Elizabeth Babbie of Champlain; three grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley
and Joshua McNeil; six stepgrandchildren, Timothy, Jason, Bradley
and Adam Nichols and Matthew and Lucas Rabideau; and several
nieces and nephews,
She was
predeceased by her parents; a brother, Richard Roberts; and two
sisters, Pearl Babbie and Leita LaPier.

hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. A Mass of Christian
burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday from St. Edmund's
Church in Ellenburg. Burial will follow in Whispering Maples
Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.

Francis
W. "Toot" Coolidge,
73, of Spruce Street in Lake Placid, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at
the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Mr.
Coolidge was born in Lake Placid on June 24, 1927, the son of
Ralph and Marjorie (Carson) Coolidge.
There
will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Monday
morning at 11 a.m. at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake
Placid, with the Rev. Mark Demers, pastor, officiating. Burial
will be in the North Elba Cemetery.

Rena Payton, 28,
of Marietta, Ga., died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000.
She was
born in Fulton County, Ga.
The
family will receive friends after 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4,
2000, at the Medford-Peden Funeral Home, 1408 Canton Highway,
N.E., in Marietta, Ga. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on
Sunday, Nov. 5th, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Georgia

80, of North Main Street in AuSable Forks, died Friday, Nov. 3,
2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks. A funeral Mass
will be celebrated on Monday at the Holy Name Catholic Church in

Isola "Nana" Martin
Plattsburgh — On All Saints Day, Nov. 1st, 2000, our beloved
Isola "Nana" Martin of Russell Barnard Apartments,
Plattsburgh, died at CVPH Medical Center at the age of 99.
She was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 28, 1901, the daughter of
Edmond and Ella (Savage) Bourgerie.
She married Edward Martin in January 1918 at St. Peter's
Church. He died in 1956.
She was brought up at the Point Au Roche lighthouse, where her
grandfather was the lighthouse keeper.
She spent many years of her life as a loving mother and nana.
She worked for ten years at Merkel’s Department Store. Over the
years, she made many beautiful hand crafts and ceramics.
Survivors include her devoted daughter and caregiver, Wanda
Martin, who resided with her; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa
and Raymond Gallant of Silver Lake Road and Bradenton, Fla.; a son
and daughter-in-law, Curtice and Betty Martin of Titusville, Fla.;
12 grandchildren and spouses, Sharon and Dave Gade of Rotterdam,
Judi and George O'Brien of Plattsburgh, Nancy and Lee Price of
Alexandria, La., Patti King of Plattsburgh, Connie and Gary Giles
of Morrisonville, Suellen and Thomas Garabedian of Bradenton,
Fla., Dawn and Tony Russo of Titusville, Fla., Richard and Linda
Martin of Chazy, Bonnie and Leo O'Brien of Burlington, Vt., Jami
and Michael Whiteman of Monroe, Conn., Kimberly and Jamie Hall of
Stuarts Draft, Va., and Eddie Martin of Florida.
She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and 11
great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her oldest
son, William Martin, in 1985; a brother, Ogilman Bourgerie and a
sister, Electa Guay.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral
Mass celebrating her life will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from
St. Peter's Church and burial will follow in the family plot in
St. Peter's Cemetery.
Masses may be offered in her memory.
William David LaMountain
Westport — William David LaMountain passed away on Nov. 1st,
2000, at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, Vt.
"Bill", as he was called by his family and friends,
was born on Nov. 14, 1924, to Frederick and Nellie (Hayes)
LaMountain in Essex.
He came from a family of ten brothers and sisters. Bill worked
diligently for Rock Harbor Farm for over 40 years, along with many
other jobs. Among many things, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
This husband, father and grandfather greatly influenced the
lives of those he touched.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn Pearl (Clark)
LaMountain; four children, Bernard and his wife Monika LaMountain
of Columbus, Ga., Gary and his wife Diana LaMountain of Chester,
Va., Janet and her husband Frank Holland of Idaho Falls, Idaho,
and Nancy and her husband Donald Miller from Elizabethtown; three
sisters, Helen Sharrow of Whallonsburg, Grace Garand of Westport
and Esther Auclaire of Pottersville; ten grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in his honor on Saturday, Nov.
4th, at the New Burt Cemetery in Whallonsburg at 10 a.m.

Andrew J. Russo Sr.
Witherbee — Andrew J. Russo Sr., 90, of Broad Street in
Witherbee, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at the Fletcher Allen
Health Care in Burlington, Vt., following a short illness.
He was born on April 19, 1910, at Witherbee.
Andy was employed at the Republic Steel Iron Mines in Mineville
for 42 years. He was a member of the Port Henry Council 384
Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Colleen and
Brian Curler of Vergennes, Vt., and Karen Russo of Mineville; a
son and daughter-in-law, Andrew Jr. and Lori Russo of North
Hudson; two grandchildren, Darren Curler and Nicole Curler; five
sisters, Angie Allard of Renssalear, Theresa Martin of Rhode
Island, Evelyn Barbetta of Clifton Park, Josephine Brace of
Mineville and Delores Burhart of Mineville; three brothers, James
Fernandez of Moriah, Anthony Fernandez of Witherbee and Louis
Fernandez of Mineville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Nina Russo; his son, Michael
Russo; and three brothers, Joseph Russo, John Russo and Manuel
Fernandez.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial
will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Church of All
Saints in Mineville. Father Michael Toth will officiate. Burial
will follow in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

Frances Mary Carlucci, 92, of Main Street in Warrensburg,
died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at the Hallmark Nursing Home in
Glens Falls.
She was born in Morrisonville on Sept. 5, 1908, the daughter of
William and Mary (Miller) LeCuyer.
At Frances’ request, there will be no calling hours. A
graveside service will be held Saturday at noon at the old St.
Alexander's Cemetery in Morrisonville.

Lenore Huckans DeGolyer
Gloversville, N.Y. — Mrs. Lenore Huckans DeGolyer, 80, of 59
Fifth Avenue in Gloversville, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at
Nathan Littauer Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1920, in Gloversville, the daughter of
Leonard and Ava L. (Varnes) Huckans. She was a lifelong area
resident.
Mrs. DeGloyer was a 1938 graduate of Gloversville High School
and attended the former Gloversville Business School. She was a
legal secretary with Wood, Wood Holtzworth & Seward in
Gloversville for many years. She retired in 1975.
Mrs. DeGloyer was a member of the North Main Street United
Methodist Church in Gloversville, where she was also a Sunday
School teacher and member of the United Methodist Women. She was a
former secretary of the Board of the Gloversville Free Library for
many years, a former Cub Scout den mother and a Columbia School
PTA member.
Mrs. DeGolyer enjoyed the outdoors, especially canoeing,
camping and horseback riding. She owned a horse and was a member
of the Johnstown Horse Club.
She married Victor L. DeGolyer on July 6, 1947.
Survivors include her husband of Gloversville; two daughters,
Cynthia L. DeGolyer of Johnstown and Christine A. Schoonmaker of
Gloversville; a son, James L. DeGolyer of Port Kent; a
daughter-in-law, Bonnie L. Smith DeGolyer of Port Kent; a
son-in-law, Peter R. Schoonmaker of Gloversville; a brother,
Leonard Huckans of Gloversville; two sisters, Dorothy Naple of
Wells, N.Y., and Audrey Ferro of St. Augustine, Fla.; three
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Her sister, Jeannette Lanzara of Venice, Fla., predeceased her.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on
Friday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Inc., 51 Fremont
Street in Gloversville, where a funeral service will be conducted
at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the Rev. Dr. Alan C. Rhodes, pastor of
the North Main Street United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will take place at Broadalbin Mayfield Rural Cemetery in
Broadalbin.

Sister Mary Agatha Quinn
Yardley, Pa. — Sister Mary Agatha Quinn, GNSH, 92, died
Oct. 29, 2000, in St. Joseph's Community, Grey Nuns Motherhouse,
Yardley, Pa., in the 66th year of her religious life.
Sister was born in Lowell, Mass., to the late Timothy and Julia
(Coughlin) Quinn, on Aug. 12, 1908.
Sister Mary Agatha attended Immaculate Conception Elementary
School, Lowell High School and obtained her certificate in nursing
from Massachusetts State Hospital in Tewksberry in 1933. Sister
was a licensed RN in the states of Massachusetts and New York.
Sister Mary Agatha (Agnes J. Quinn) entered the Grey Nuns of
the Sacred Heart on Jan. 3, 1934, and professed her vows on July
16, 1935.
At A. Barton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg, Sister served for
18 years, 1937 to 1955, in the roles of supervisor and instructor
in obstetrics. Her labors there were highly valued by her
co-workers. Sister worked a year at Griffin Memorial Hospital in
Kodiak, Alaska, 1955 to 1956, and in St. Joseph's Nursing Home in
Ogdensburg for five years, 1956 to 1960, before taking on
elementary teaching assignments in Depew, 1960 to 1963, and
Jackson Heights, 1964 to 1974, both in New York. She retired to
the Motherhouse in 1974.
In addition to her religious family, Sister is survived by
several nieces and nephews. Her brothers, William and Dominic,
both Oblates of Mary Immaculate, and John, as well as her sisters,
Molly, Kay and Fran, have predeceased her.
A wake service was held at the Motherhouse at 7 p.m., Monday,
Oct. 30, 2000, followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m.
on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000. Burial is in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in
Philadelphia, Pa.
Edna M. Dupree
Chateaugay — Edna M. Dupree, 75, of East Main Street Road in
Chateaugay, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at Alice Hyde Medical
Center in Malone.
She was born in Churubusco on March 28, 1925, the daughter of
Joseph and Isabelle (Rushford) Decosse.
She was married to Robert Dupree on Aug. 25, 1948, in
Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Churubusco.
Mrs. Dupree is survived by her husband of 52 years; three
daughters, Donna Barnes and her husband Barry of Chateaugay,
Margaret "Peggy" Wood and her companion Marty Shaw of
Malone and Lori Dupree and her companion Greg Fleury of
Chateaugay; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Ricky Dupree of
Brushton, Stephen and Lisa Dupree of Malone and Alice Dupree of
Malone; a sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Alex Taillon of
Massena; and ten grandchildren.
Those that preceded in death were a son, Daniel Dupree on April
17, 2000; and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Dupree graduated from Chateaugay High School and was
employed at several different locations, including General
Electric during World War II and also at Chateaugay Central School
in the cafeteria, under the Green Thumb Program. Edna was a
communicant of St. Patrick's Church, a member of St. Patrick's
Altar and Rosary Society, the Chateaugay American Legion and
formerly served on the Town of Chateaugay Board of Elections.
Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on
Tuesday, Oct. 31st, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Chateaugay
American Legion Auxiliary will conduct their service at 8 p.m. A
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov.
1, 2000, in St. Patrick's Church, with Rev. Fay Ager officiating.
Burial will take place at Immaculate Heart Cemetery in Churubusco.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Chateaugay Rescue
Squad for Rescue Truck Fund.
Lorne A. Schnell
Bourbonnais, Ill. — Lorne A. Schnell, 67, of Woodstock Lane
in Bourbonnais, Ill., and a former resident of Mooers, died Oct.
12, 2000, in Las Vegas, Nev., after a sudden illness.
He was born on Jan. 3, 1933, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan,
Canada, the son of Albert and Maude (McBride) Schnell. His parents
are deceased.
Survivors include his wife, the former Joanne Kline, of
Bourbonnais; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Gina Schnell
of Alexandria, Va., and Michael and Lisa Schnell of Temecula,
Calif.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jennifer and David
Dearborn of Manchester, N.H., and Julie Schnell and special friend
Michael Chellino of Kankakee, Ill.; two grandsons, Jakob Dearborn
and Eric Schnell; and many cousins.
One sister, Florence Schnell, is deceased.
Mr. Schnell was an executive for Centeon-Aventis Behring from
1984 until he retired in 1994. He was on the Board of Directors
and former member of the Kankakee County Symphony and a founding
member of the Kankakee Valley Youth Orchestra.
He worked as a consultant at the Kankakee County Training
Center, volunteered as a tutor for English as a Second Language at
the King Center and was Sergeant-at-Arms for the Kankakee Rotary
Club.
He was an accomplished violinist and loved to restore violins.
He enjoyed golf, woodworking and being a grandpa.
He had gained his U.S. citizenship and was looking forward to
voting in his first election.
Visitation was held at the Hertz-Thoma Chapel in Kankakee, with
services at the Asbury United Methodist Church, where he was a
member. Pastor Leah Pogemiller officiated. Cremation rites were
accorded, with inurnment in the Belvidere Cemetery in Onawa, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to the Glaucoma Research Foundation, or
the Kankakee Valley Youth Orchestra, where a fund will be set up
at the Capstone Bank in Kankakee.
Albert J. Charland
Malone — Albert J. Charland, 64, of the Bruso Road, died
Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center.
He was born on Feb. 2, 1936, in Malone, the son of Leonard and
Dorothy (Smith) Charland.
He married Genevieve Tebo on Sept. 17, 1960, at St. George's
Church in Burke. She survives.
Besides his wife and his mother, Dorothy Smith Charland
LaPlante of the Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone, he is survived
by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Pam and Philip Denny,
Nanette and William Godin and Jeanette Tummons, all of the Malone
area and Laura Charland of Syracuse; three sons and two
daughters-in-law, Brent and Rebecca Charland and Michael Charland,
all of the Malone area and Scott and Dana Charland of Maryland;
two sisters, Mrs. Emerson (Joanne) Ward and Mrs. Lawrence (Mary
Anne) Jock, both of Malone; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert
and Rose Charland of Toledo, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Adam
Charland, Colleen Charland, Trent Tummons, Chadd Charland, Aimee
Denny, Daniel Charland, Tanner Godin and Joseph Godin; also
several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Mr. Charland lived all his life in the Malone area and attended
local schools in Malone. He worked in the dairy business for 32
years. He was employed by Sentinel Elm Dairy on the Porter Road
through the 1950’s and 1960’s. He owned and operated his own
dairy farm and drove bulk milk trucks for Malone Dairy and the
Chateaugay Co-op. He later became the manager of the Malone Dairy
milk plant on the West Main Street Road in Malone.
He retired in 1995, and was a family home care provider for the
last 12 years. His hobbies were gardening, yard work, fishing,
hunting and spoiling his grandchildren. He was a loving and
devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Notre
Dame Church.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will
be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, in Notre Dame
Church, with Msgr. C. John McAvoy officiating. Burial will be in
St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lake Titus Road.
Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home,
Inc.
Ronald J. Rondeau, 67, of Spring Street in Colton, N.Y.,
died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
He was born Jan. 20, 1933, in Black Brook, the son of Joseph
and Viola (Douglas) Rondeau.
Graveside services with full military honors were held on
Thursday, Oct. 26th, at 11 a.m. at the Stark Cemetary in South
Colton, with Rev. Howard Venette presiding.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Buck Funeral Home in
Colton.

Burton E. Rock
PERU — Burton E. Rock, 79, of the Lapham
Mills Road died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at his home while under
the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.
He was born in Saranac Lake, Feb. 17, 1921, the
son of Frank A. and Elizabeth F. (Lamay) Rock.
He married the former Thelma M. Rock on June
24, 1944, at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru. She died Oct. 11,
1998.
He served in the United States Army overseas
from 1940 to 1943, having received a Purple Heart, the French
Cross, Bronze Star, and various medals and honors. He was a
charter and lifetime member of the Peru VFW Post 309, and a member
of the West Plattsburgh American Legion Post 1619. He enjoyed
hunting, fishing and trapping.
Survivors include two daughters and
sons-in-law, Pauline and Ray Ferrara of Coral Springs, Fla., and
Chris Ann and Ross Sartwell of Clintonville; three sons and three
daughters-in-law, Donald and Sue Rock of Schenectady, Michael and
Patricia Rock of Peru, and Frank and Karen Rock of Keeseville; one
brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank "Tom" Rock
of Arizona; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Crouch of
Rensselaer, Julia "Peggy" and Thomas Conway of Arizona,
and Lita and Fran Merrill of Schuyler Falls; 18 grandchildren; 29
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife; and one son,
Walter Daniels in 1994.
There will be no public calling hours. Military
honors will be accorded at the Peru VFW Post 309, Friday, Nov. 3,
2000 at 11 a.m., with a gathering to follow at the Post.
Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice
of the North Country.
Arrangements are with the Lester E. Thew
Funeral Home in Peru.
Cheryl (Dees) Rock
VINELAND, N.J. — Cheryl (Dees) Rock, 44, died
Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 at the S. J. H. S.-Millville Division in
New Jersey, after an extended illness.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she was a resident
of the Vineland area for the past 20 years and attended
Philadelphia Public Schools.
She was employed by Bassetti Photo Inc., of
Minotola, N.J., working in the office and helping with school
photographs. Most of her life she was a homemaker, staying home
and taking care of her children.
She enjoyed selling and buying at the flea
market, collecting Beanie Babies, dolls, Hummel figurines and
baseball cards. She also enjoyed horseback riding, going to the
beach and gardening around the house.
She was an avid football fan, especially the
Philadelphia Eagles, and helped her children practice soccer and
baseball.
She was a covenant member of the Olivet
Wesleyan Church of Glassboro, N.J. and was active in the choir.
Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Dean
Rock of Vineland, N.J.; one son, Kyle Rock of Vineland; two twin
daughters, Samantha and Shannon Rock of Vineland; four brothers,
Leon and Steven Dees of Philadelphia, Jimmy Dees of Maryland, and
William Dees of Maple Shade, N.J.; and two sisters, Linda Puesi of
Rosenhayn, N.J., and Mary Jane Pitman of Vineland.
She was predeceased by her parents, Leon and
Dorothy Dees; one daughter, Deanna; and one brother, Walter.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, Oct. 30,
2000 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Cadyville Wesleyan Church.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.
Burial will take place in St. Alexander’s
Cemetery in Morrisonville following the services.

Donald J. Lafountain
CHAMPLAIN — Donald J. Lafountain, 61, of
Route 9 died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000 at the CVPH Medical Center in
Plattsburgh.
He was born on Nov. 24, 1938, the son of Wilmer
and Rose Lafountain.
Donald is survived by his wife, the former Mary
Wrye; a son, Rusty Lafountain of Champlain; a daughter, Tracey
Adams of Mooers; a sister, Joan Kaufman of Champlain; and two
grandchildren, Sara and Melany Adams.
Calling hours will be Monday, Oct. 30 from 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the M.B. Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A
funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from St.
Mary’s Church in Champlain. Entombment will follow at the
Whispering Maples mausoleum in Plattsburgh.
Leita M. LaPier
WEST CHAZY — Leita M. LaPier, 65, of West
Chazy died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center in
Plattsburgh.
She was born in Champlain on April 13, 1935,
the daughter of Wilfred and Elizabeth (Ebere) Roberts.
She married Stanley LaPier on June 16, 1956, in
St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks. Mrs. LaPier was a member of
St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley; three
sons and two daughters-in-law, Alan LaPier of Schenectady;
Christopher and Diane LaPier of Dubuque, Iowa; and Dana and
Katrina LaPier of Frederick, Md.; four daughters and sons-in-law,
Sharon and Tony Garrow of Schenectady; Sheila and Hugh LaMoy of
Mooers Forks; Cassandra and Calvin Hewson of Beekmantown; and
Shelley and James Hurd of Phoenix, Az.; three granddaughters,
Michelle and Jennifer Garrow; and Heather Hanson and her husband,
Steve; one grandson, Jason LaMoy; one great-grandson, Kai Hanson;
four brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis and Helen Roberts and
Maurice and Pauline Roberts, all of Champlain; Ronald and Janet
Roberts and Gerald and Alba (Jonie) Roberts, all of Mooers; six
sisters and three brothers-in-law, Evaline Beebe of Coopersville;
Dora Filion and Doris and Daylord Trombly, all of Mooers; Rita and
Rufus Rabideau of Ellenburg; Margaret and John Dragoon of Mooers;
and Elizabeth Babbie of Champlain.
A brother, Richard Roberts, and a sister, Pearl
Babbie, died earlier.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, Oct. 31, from
2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A
funeral service will be Wed., Nov. 1, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St.
Joseph’s Church in West Chazy.
Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Marie Fern Deforge
East
Fallowfield, Pa. — Marie Fern Deforge, 60, of East Fallowfield,
Pa., died on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, in Bryn Mawr Hospital. She
was the wife of Robert P. Deforge, with whom she shared 43 years
of marriage.
She was
born in Burlington, Vt., the daughter of the late Lawrence and
Cecile (Bessette) Gratton.
She was a
graduate of St. Mary's High School, Class of 1958, in Niagara
Falls and she attended Niagara University.
She
resided in New York before moving to Pennsylvania in 1985. While
in New York, she was a member of the Plattsburgh City School
Board, a Pre-Cana Director for the Diocese of Ogdensburg, a member
of the Mental Health Association and a member of Our Lady of
Victory in Plattsburgh.
She was
presently employed as a hostess supervisor at Whitford Country
Club. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in
Coatesville, Pa. She was the matriarch of High Meadows in East
Fallowfield, Pa.
In
addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Lieutenant
Colonel Robert D. Deforge, USMC, of New Bern, N.C., Douglas J.
Deforge of Albany and James P. "Bo" Deforge of Honey
Brook, Pa.; and one daughter, Denise M. Proulx of Ellenburg
Center; five brothers, William Gratton of Iverness, Fla., Lawrence
Gratto of Blackstone, Mass., Timothy Gratto of Lewiston, Thomas
Gratto of Niagara Falls and Albert Olio of Cambridge, Vt.; three
sisters, Jeanne Thomas of Huntsville, Ala., Wanda Wheelock of
Brattleboro, Vt., and Angie Nulty of Williston, Vt.; and eight
grandchildren.

Street in Coatesville, Pa., on Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. A
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 31,
2000, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 80 S. 17th
Avenue in Coatesville, Pa. The interment will be private.
Rose Marie Hickman
St.
Albans, W. Va. — Rose Marie Hickman, 69, of St. Albans, W. Va.,
died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at her residence after a short
illness.
She was
born in Ellenburg and was a 31-year resident of St. Albans, W. Va.
She was a
homemaker and an employee of Harless Printing in St. Albans, W.
Va. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Nitro, W. Va.,
and St. Francis Of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Albans, W. Va.
She was
preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Hickman; her parents,
Ernest and Delia (Bushey) Trombley; and four brothers and two
sisters.
She is
survived by a son, Randy Hickman, of Great Falls, Mont.; four
daughters, Cynthia Hickman of St. Albans, W. Va., Constance Osburn
of Elizabeth, W. Va., Cathy Ross of Huntersville, N.C., and Cheryl
Jones of Great Falls, Mont.; a sister, Bernice Trombley of
Ellenburg; six brothers, Manfred Trombley of Plattsburgh, Ivan
Trombley of Ellenburg, Robert Trombley of Ellenburg, James
Trombley of Dannemora, Ernest Trombley of Massena and Alger
Trombley of Lewisburg, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
