92, of McIntyre Street in Saranac Lake, died Thursday, Oct. 26,
2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center at Saranac Lake.
She
was born Dec. 18, 1907, in Lorraine, N.Y.
Calling
hours will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday at the
Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. The funeral service
will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine
Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
Cheryl
(Dees) Rock,
44, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at the S.J.H.S.-Millville
Division in New Jersey, after an extended illness.
Calling
hours will be held on Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, from 9 to 11 a.m. at
the Cadyville Wesleyan Church. Funeral services will follow at 11
a.m. Burial will take place in St. Alexander’s Cemetery in
Morrisonville following the services.

Lt. Colonel Michael Bernknopf White
Plattsburgh — Lt. Colonel Michael Bernknopf White, USAF Ret.,
58, of Beekman Street, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at the CVPH
Medical Center.
He was born in Brooklyn on April 20, 1942, the son of Philip
and Frances (Greene) Bernknopf.
Michael entered the U.S. Air Force in 1961 and then attended
and graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado with a
degree in engineering science. He holds a master of science degree
in business administration from the University of Northern
Colorado.
Michael was a Distinguished Graduate from pilot training and
upon his graduation, he was assigned to the 417th Tactical Fighter
Squadron as an F-4 pilot in Ramstein, Germany, and then
transferred to the Republic of Vietnam as a pilot in the 0-1E
aircraft as a forward air controller. Michael later was
Instructor/Assistant Course Director and Course Director of
Military Studies at the Air Force Academy from 1973 to 1977. He
was an instructor pilot for the KC-135 and was assigned to
Plattsburgh Air Force Base in 1977. While at Plattsburgh, he was
the Project Officer for the 1980 Winter Olympics.
Michael's decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross
with seven devices, Air Force Commendation Medal with one device,
Air Force Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit
Award, Combat Readiness Medal, National Defense Service Medal,
Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with six
devices, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with four devices,
Small Arms Expert Marksmanship ribbon, Republic of Vietnam
Gallantry Cross with one device and the Republic of Vietnam
Campaign Medal. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1983.
Michael was a Certified Financial Planner and IRS enrolled
agent for MBW Associates of Plattsburgh. He was a member of the
Plattsburgh Noon Rotary Club and was a member and past president
of Temple Beth Israel. Michael was also past president of the
Plattsburgh YMCA and a past president of the United Way.
Michael is survived by his wife of 29 years, Estelle (Elias)
White of Plattsburgh; two sons, Daniel White of Brooklyn and
Theodore White of Plattsburgh; two daughters, Trisha White and
Abigail White, both of Plattsburgh; his mother, Frances White of
Florida; a sister; two brothers-in-law and their spouses, Dr.
Arthur and Carole Elias of Armonk, N.Y., and Gerald and Cecily
Elias of Salt Lake City, Utah; and several nieces and nephews.
He was very proud of the work he did and most proud of his
family.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at noon
at Temple Beth Israel on Bowman Lane in Plattsburgh. Interment
will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to
Hospice of the North Country, the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center, or
Temple Beth Israel.
The family will receive friends on Friday following the
committal services and Saturday evening at their home.
Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
Donald LaBounty
Hephzibah, Ga. — Donald LaBounty, 58, of Castletown Drive and
formerly of AuSable Chasm, died suddenly on Thursday, Oct. 19,
2000, at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon, Ga.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 10, 1942, the son of the
late Richard and Isabel (Morrow) LaBounty.
He graduated from Keeseville High School. Don joined the Army
in 1968 and retired in 1988. During his 20-year service with the
military, he traveled to many places, including various others
countries. He married the former Marcia Roth in Germany.
Following retirement, he was employed for five years with GTE.
His latest employment was with the Augusta Technical Institute,
where he worked as an instructor and technical writer for the
Quick Start Program.
He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post in Augusta, Ga. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and
just being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia LaBounty of Hephzibah, Ga.;
one sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Sherman Blaise of Peru;
two nephews; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the
Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Keeseville, with Rev. Garvin
Demarais, pastor, officiating.
Donations in his memory may be made to the American Wildlife
Association.
Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville.
Edmund J. Woodard III, 33, of Powder Springs, Ga., died
Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, in Powder Springs, Ga.
Calling hours will be held at the Phillips Memorial Home in
Madrid on Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A
funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the
United Church of Madrid. Burial will be in Scotch Cemetery in
Waddington.

Orville D. Covey
Findlay, Ohio — Orville D. Covey, 75, of 327 Trenton Avenue
in Findlay, Ohio, died on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at his
residence.
He was born in Beekmantown on Nov. 28, 1924, the son of the
late Ernest E. and Lucy (Arnold) Covey.
He was a school bus driver for 32 years at Beekmantown Central
School. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in
Beekmantown and a member of the New York State Teacher’s
Association. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his son, Michael J. Covey of Dallas, Texas;
two daughters, Mrs. Tommie (Sharon) Schultz of Findlay, Ohio, and
Mrs. Michael L. (Karen A.) Collins of Omaha, Neb.; three
grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers,
Rodney Covey, Ovid Covey and Ernie Covey and one sister, Lulu
Moulton.
There are no calling hours. A service will be held at 10 a.m.
on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, with military rites, at the
Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, 205 West Sandusky Street, in Findlay,
Ohio. Pastor Gene Milioni will officiate. A private burial will
take place in Plattsburgh.
Richard R. Gonyo
Altona — Richard R. Gonyo, 67, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at
the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction, Vt.
He was born in Chazy on April 20, 1933, the son of Ermie and
Mary (Baker) Gonyo.
Mr. Gonyo was a veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member
of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1466 in Beekmantown. He and
his wife Lorraine lived in Altona, where they owned and operated R
and L Trucking for many years.
Survivors include his wife, the former Lorraine Mussaw; one son
and daughter-in-law, Randy and Tammy Ero of Altona; one daughter
and son-in-law, Lori and Jerry Hebert of Mooers; one son, Bruce
Gonyo of Champlain; three daughters, Bonnie and Michael Leonilli
of Syracuse, Lynn Gonyo of Syracuse and Anne Gonyo of Syracuse;
four sisters, Rita and Edwin Sterling of Champlain, Joyce Rushford
of Chazy, Jean Mooney of Chazy and Ruth Parrotte of Chazy; and ten
grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, from 6 to
8 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Home in Mooers. A Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St.
Joseph's Church in Mooers.
Donald L. Pierce, 68, of Park Avenue in Saranac Lake, died
Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Newton-Wellsley Hospital in Newton,
Mass.
He was born March 17, 1932, in Saranac Lake.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home
in Saranac Lake. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on
Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Saranac Lake. Burial
will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
Leila Rork Holman, 97, formerly of Hague and most recently
of the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home of Ticonderoga, passed away
Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at the nursing home.
She was born on July 2, 1903, in Albany.
Calling hours will be Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Wilcox
& Regan Funeral Home, 33 Algonkin Street in Ticonderoga. A
graveside service will follow at the family plot of the Old Hague
Cemetery of Hague. The Rev. Richard Huber of St. Mary's Catholic
Church of Ticonderoga will officiate.
Phillip Barnaby, 92, of Montcalm Manor of Ticonderoga,
passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at the Fletcher Allen
Health Care Center in Burlington, Vt.
He was born on May 28, 1908.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Wilcox
& Regan Funeral Home in Ticonderoga. A funeral service will
follow at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place on
Saturday at 11 a.m. at the family plot at St. Augustine's Cemetery

Lester G. Lapan, 72, of Wawbeek Avenue in Tupper Lake, died
Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at the Adirondack Health Care Facility in
Saranac Lake.
Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A funeral Mass will be held on
Friday at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Church in Champlain.
Walter T. Maroun, 84, of Wawbeek Avenue in Tupper Lake,
died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in
Saranac Lake.
He was born on July 7, 1916, in Tupper Lake, the son of Joe
Assad and Rose Nazha (Abraham) Maroun.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, Oct. 26, from 2 to 4 and 7
to 9 p.m. at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral
Mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus
Church, with Fr. George Maroun officiating. Burial with full
military honors will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Earl Paul Mary Jr.
Schuyler Falls — Earl Paul Mary Jr., age 8, of Schuyler
Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 25, 1992, the son of Earl
Paul and Brenda (Santo) Mary Sr.
He is survived by his parents of Schuyler Falls; paternal
grandparents Louis J. and Marie (DeForge) Mary of Plattsburgh;
maternal grandmother Shirley M. Santo of Plattsburgh; and his
great-grandfather Earl Garrow and his companion Anna of
Plattsburgh. Earl is also survived by four uncles, Louis Mary II
and his fiancee Nancy of Plattsburgh, Bruce DeForge of Logansport,
Ind., Louis J. "Butch" Santo Jr. of Schuyler Falls and
Kevin F. LeBlanc of Schuyler Falls; five aunts, Anne Mary, Linda
Mary and Joy Mary, all of Plattsburgh, Cheri Aronowitz of Pine
Bluff, Ark., and Donna McKee of Schuyler Falls; several cousins
also survive him.
Earl is predeceased by his grandfather, Louis Santo Sr.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at
the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial
will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. from St. Augustine’s

Todd E. Colvard
WEST CHAZY — Todd E. Colvard, 27, of the Slosson Road and
formerly of Cumberland Head, died Sunday morning, Oct. 22, 2000,
following a hunting accident in Beekmantown.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 20, 1973, the son of Edward
and Julianne (Olson) Colvard.
Todd graduated from Beekmantown High School in 1991 and also
earned a certificate in welding from BOCES. He was a well driller
and worked for B.C. Well Drilling, Inc., a family business, for
over 12 years.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Water
Well Association and was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, horseshoe
and pool player.
Survivors include his companion, Heather Finley; a son, Jacob
Finley of West Chazy; his mother Julianne Colvard of Cumberland
Head; his sister, Kristin Carnright and her husband Gregory of
Cumberland Head; his paternal grandfather, William Colvard of
Cumberland Head; his maternal grandparents, Lavern and Helen Olson
of Waynesboro, Pa.; one uncle, Scott Olson of Little Falls, Pa.;
five aunts, Jacqueline Colvard-Truett and her husband Donald of
Waynesboro, Pa., Tracy Colvard-Pellerin and her husband Allen of
Cumberland Head, Rhonda Colvard and her husband Scott Light of
South Hero, Vt., Jodie Luning and Jill Cook and her husband John,
all of Waynesboro, Pa; one niece and two nephews; and his two
dogs, Hunter and Elliott.
He was predeceased by his father on Dec. 8, 1997, and his
grandmother, Norma (Graham) Colvard on March 26, 1998.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held
Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the St. Louis of France Church in Sciota.
Entombment will be in Whispering Maples Mausoleum.

Russell R. DeChambeau
Chateaugay — Russell R. DeChambeau, 82, of Church Street in
Chateaugay, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Alice Hyde Nursing Home
in Malone, where he had been a patient since May of this year.
He was born in Burke on Dec. 22, 1917, the son of George and
Lucy (Wing) DeChambeau.
He was married to the former Florence "Polly" Ryan on
Feb. 19, 1970. She predeceased him on Jan. 18, 1996.
Mr. DeChambeau is survived by a nephew and his wife, Marvin and
Kathryn Best of Saranac Lake; a sister-in-law and her husband,
Elizabeth and John Lyons of Chateaugay; and several cousins.
Those that preceded in death besides his wife were his parents;
three sisters, Ellen Louise Risteau in 1934, Dorcas Hay in 1980
and Theresa Best in 1996.
Mr. DeChambeau was a graduate of Chateaugay High School, the
Class of 1935. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II,
taking part in several battles, including Normandy and was
honorably discharged on Sept. 13, 1945.
Russell was a cattle dealer and owned a farm. He retired in
1990. His memberships included the Chateaugay Presbyterian Church
and Chateaugay American Legion.
Calling hours will be held at Chateaugay Funeral Home on
Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services
will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, in the Chateaugay
Funeral Home, with Mr. Scott Gifford of the Chateaugay
Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will take place at Burke
Center Cemetery in Burke.

Frederick L. "Buzzy" Fitzgerald Sr.
Williston, Vt. — Frederick L. "Buzzy" Fitzgerald
Sr., 67, of Williston, Vt., a native of Burlington, died on
Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at the Arbors in Shelburne, Vt., surrounded
by his loving wife, children, relatives and friends, after a long
and difficult battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born in Burlington, Vt., on Feb. 26, 1933, the son of
the late Frederick J. and Margaret (Cague) Fitzgerald. He was
predeceased by his younger brother Marty, whom he loved and
adored.
Known by all and loved for his spirit, enthusiasm, humor, zest
for life, courage, Irish grin and leadership, he was an
inspiration to all that were lucky enough to have been touched by
him. He now is at eternal rest with the Lord.
He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and St. Michael's
College. He excelled in everything he did, as an athlete, leader
in the business world, a loving and devoted husband and wonderful
father and grandfather. He made many close friends all over the
country wherever he went.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 as a cryptographer
and played for the U.S. Army basketball team. On July 11, 1959, he
married Ruth Peterson in Montpelier, Vt.
He worked for John Hancock Insurance, General Electric and for
Wyeth-Ayerst, where he spent a distinguished 30-plus year career.
He retired in 1994 after reaching the position of Eastern Regional
Sales Manager. He was always involved in the community as a
volunteer fireman, parish counsel member and on the Board of
Education in Cadyville. He also served as president of the Rice
Athletics Booster Club.
Buzzy is survived by the love of his life, Ruth Peterson
Fitzgerald of Williston, Vt.; his proud children, Kathleen
Fitzgerald Reiff and her husband Brian of Brookfield, Conn.,
Thomas Fitzgerald and his wife Lisa of Williston, Vt., Frederick
L. Fitzgerald Jr., MD and his wife Alison of Syracuse and Beth
Fitzgerald Young and her husband Mark of Orlando, Fla.; ten
grandchildren who adore him, Matthew, Jamie and Kelsey Reiff,
Aaron and Kayleigh Young, Thomas Jr. and Jack Fitzgerald and
Emily, Eric and Frederick L. Fitzgerald III. Also surviving are
two sisters-in-law, Nancy Fitzgerald of Burlington, Vt., and Nancy
Allen and her husband Richard of Williston, Vt.; four nephews,
Michael and Daniel Fitzgerald and Brett and Scott Allen; and a
niece, Kelly Fitzgerald Mahoney. He will be missed by his special
cousin, Betty Sourmail of Winooski, Vt.
Buzzy will be missed by all who loved him, with a smile and a
twinkle in his eye.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ready Funeral Home South Chapel, 261
Shelburne Road in Burlington, Vt. A Mass of Christian burial will
be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at 11 a.m. in Christ the
King Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Resurrection
Park Cemetery.

Laura Nutt Martin
Rouses Point — Laura Nutt Martin, 87, died Monday, Oct. 9,
2000, at the Rosewood Heights Health Center in Syracuse.
She was born in Elizabeth, N.J., on May 11, 1913, the daughter
of the late Frank and Jessie (Chelius) Nutt.
She was a member of the Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church
in Syracuse.
The family moved to Rouses Point in 1915, where she attended
Rouses Point High School and graduated from there in 1930. She was
a 1934 graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing in New York City.
Her husband, Harold F. Martin, died in 1994.
She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Martin of Alexandria,
Va., and Diana Cleary of Oceanside, Calif.; two brothers, Frank
Nutt of Apple Valley, Calif., and Glenn Nutt of Rouses Point; one
sister, Phyllis Gokey of Rouses Point; and two grandsons.
Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 28th, at
1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Rouses Point.

Louis A. DuBrey
Fayetteville, N.C. — Retired Army Command Sergeant Major
Louis A. DuBrey, of Fayetteville, N.C., died Oct 7, 2000, at
Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was born on June 23, 1921, in Chazy Lake, the son of Adeline
and Silas DuBrey.
He joined the U.S. Army in February of 1942 and served in the
European Theater during World War II, then Korea and Vietnam, as a
paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division.
He is survived by his wife Hilde; daughters Walburga Huggins of
Hot Springs, N.C., Deborah Snow and Dorothea Rayty of Charlotte,
N.C.; his son, Louis DuBrey of Klamath Falls, Ore.; five sisters,
Dorothea McGarvey of Atlanta, Ga., Madeline Coates, Frieda Walker
and Yvonne DuBrey, all of Plattsburgh and Theresa Root of
Dannemora; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Amelia DuBrey
and Venetta Sebast; and a brother, Archie DuBrey.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church in
Fayetteville with full military honors. Burial was at Sandhills
State Veteran’s Cemetery in Spring Lake, N.C.
Richard R. Gonyo, 67, of Altona, died Monday, Oct. 23,
2000, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River
Junction, Vt.

Irene M. Crudden, 85, of Blanche Road in Merrill, died
Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at her home.
She was born on March 9, 1915, in Lyon Mountain, the daughter
of the late Harry and Bessie (Merrill) Gillette.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, in St.
Mary-Murphy Funeral Home chapel from 10 a.m. until time for the
funeral service at 11 a.m. A service will be held in the funeral
home chapel at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, with Pastor Matt Molnar
officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery in Malone.
Reginald J. Benham, 59, of Riverside Drive in Lake Placid,
died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in
Saranac Lake.
He was born in Lake Placid on Feb. 8, 1941, the son of Stanley
D. and Patricia (De Loria) Benham.

Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. A memorial
service will follow at 8 p.m., with the Rev. Patrick O’Reilly
officiating.
Don Labounty, 58, of Hephzibah, Ga., died on Oct. 19, 2000,

James Edmond McPherson
CHATEAUGAY — James Edmond McPherson, 86, of
Seymour Road, died Saturday, October 21, 2000 at the Alice Hyde
Medical Center in Malone.
He was born in Ellenburg on September 4, 1914,
the son of Myron and Margaret (Whalen) McPherson.
He was married on October 4, 1941 to Genevieve
Rae Huntington and lived in Detroit, Mich., Pavillion, Ellenburg
Center and Chateaugay.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II
and worked at Georgia-Pacific in Plattsburgh and McCadam Cheese in
Chateaugay. He ran a dairy farm for many years and then a hobby
farm in his retirement. Also, James liked woodworking.
Surviving are five sons and four
daughters-in-law; Patrick of Plantation, Fla., Michael and Sharon
(Matthews) of Palmyra, N.Y., and Joseph and Angela (Charette) of
Moira, N.Y., David and Vivian of Storres, Conn., Anthony and Marie
(Charette) of Chicopee, Mass., two daughters and one significant
other, Evelyn Landrie of Manchester, Conn., Elizabeth and Richard
Davis of Malone, 23 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife; his parents;
two brothers, Owen and Hubert; a sister, Evelyn; and three
grandchildren, Karen Jean, Michael John and A.J. McPherson.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4

George Thompson
PLATTSBURGH — George Thompson, 79, of 6
Cherry Street, died Friday, October 20, 2000 at Fletcher Allen
Hospital in Burlington, Vt.
He was born in Plattsburgh on October 27, 1920,
the son of George and Justine (Chagnon) Thompson.
Mr. Thompson graduated from St. John’s
Academy and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church in
Plattsburgh. He was a private in the Army during WWII under the
name of Edward Gerou. George was employed for a number of years by
Esposito and Dorn’s Trucking of Plattsburgh. Mr. Thompson made
his home for the past several years in Plattsburgh with his
daughter Carol Duquette and her fiancee Charles Foster.
He is survived by his former wife, Mary Roberts
of Plattsburgh; close friend and companion of many years, Peggy
Bringle of Minn.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna Gerou
of Massena, Carol Duquette of Plattsburgh, Dawn and Louis Hopkins
of St. Paul, Minn., Donna Agoney, and William Agoney of Dannemora;
one step-daughter, Robin Chiasson of Plattsburgh; four sons and
one daughter-in-law, Donald and Debra Thompson of Minn., Robert
Thompson of Minn., Edward Thompson of Minn., and Leroy Gerou of
Plattsburgh; one sister, Laura Righi of Plattsburgh; 15
grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Thompson,
who died accidentally in the summer of 1969 in St. Paul, Minn.;
one sister, Vi Bezio; and two brothers, Joseph and Alec Thompson.
Calling hours will be held Monday, October 23,
2000 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home
in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh.
Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Virginia I. Evans
Plattsburgh
— Virginia Irene Evans, 78, of the Hospice House, Clark Street
in Dannemora and formerly of Lake Forrest, Plattsburgh, died
Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at her residence.
She was
born in Utica on May 21, 1922, the daughter of the late George and
Marjorie (Seymour) Smith.
Mrs.
Evans and her husband, prior to moving to Peru, lived for nearly
30 years in Endicott.
A devoted
wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived
by her husband of 56 years, James S. Evans of Plattsburgh; two
sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory J. and Jane Evans of Columbia,
S.C., and Donald G. and Shirley Evans of Peru; two brothers,
Richard Smith of North Syracuse and Robert Smith of Cape Coral,
Fla.; one sister, Natalie Williams of Syracuse; five
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
She was
predeceased by her beloved grandson, Jonathan Evans.
Calling
hours will be held Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the
Lester E. Thew Funeral Home in Peru. A funeral service will follow
at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Entombment will follow at the
Whispering Maples Memorial Garden in Plattsburgh.

Ruger Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.

Judware, 83, of
Lawrenceville, died suddenly on Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at the
Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where he was a patient.
He was
born on May 16, 1917, in Malone, the son of Henry and Mildred
(Oakes) Judware.
Calling
hours will be held on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in North Lawrence. A Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at
10 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church in North Lawrence, with Fr. Clark
White officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
