Matthieu John Moran
Champlain
— Matthieu John Moran, the infant son of Michael Moran and
Juanita Munoz, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at the Fletcher Allen
Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt.
Matthieu
was born on Oct. 11, 2000.
Matthieu
is survived by his parents, Michael Moran and Juanita Munoz of
Champlain; two brothers, Michael Moran and Robert Dobson; one
sister, Ashley Moran; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leamon
Moran; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Darriel Demers; two
great-grandmothers, Mrs. Mary West and Mrs. Adelaide Pierce; and
several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Matthieu
is predeceased by his great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard
Babbie.
Calling
hours will be private and at the convenience of the family. A
Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000,
at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain.

Nettie M. Santori
PLATTSBURGH
— Nettie M. Santori, 96, of Leonard Avenue, died Friday, Oct.
20, 2000, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home.
She was
born in Mooers Forks on Jan. 13, 1904, the daughter of John and
Agnes (Miller) LaValley.
Nettie
married Michael Santori at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks in
1926. Mr. Santori died in 1986.
Mrs.
Santori was a member of St. John's Church and the Altar Rosary
Society. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking. She worked
for Pall Blade for 10 years.
Survivors
include two daughters and one son-in-law, Mrs. Ephraim (Carmela)
Defayette of Morrisonville and Helen Santori of Plattsburgh; four
sisters and one brother-in-law, Helen Nephew of West Chazy, Leona
Mooso of Nevada, Irene Nephew of Plattsburgh and Mrs. Stephen
(Mildred) Percey of Ingraham; and many nieces and nephews.
Three
sisters, Mary Goodman, Ida Hebert and Lillian Blades and three
brothers, Edward LaValley, Zepher LaValley and Amos LaValley, all
predeceased her.
Calling
hours will be held Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial
will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. John's Church. Burial
will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Isabel E. Trudeau
Ticonderoga
— Isabel E. Trudeau, 88, of Schuyler Street in the Town of
Ticonderoga, died following a long illness at the home of her
daughter on Friday, Oct. 20, 2000.
She was
born in Paradox on Dec. 10, 1911, the daughter of Samuel and Belle
(McMurtry) Letson.
Mrs.
Trudeau worked for the New York Telephone Company, was employed by
the former Pearl's Department Store in Ticonderoga and she was
former school tax collector for the Ticonderoga Central School
District.
She is
survived by one son, David Trudeau of Colonie; one daughter, Susan
Watts of Ticonderoga; one sister, Una Forcier of Queensbury; three
grandchildren, Matthew Watts, David Trudeau Jr. and Diane
Barbagallo; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
She is
predeceased by her husband, Howard Trudeau; two brothers, Ernest
Letson and Carroll Letson; and two sisters, Grace Mott and Lena
Courtney.
Calling
hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Connery & Gunning Funeral Home in Ticonderoga. A traditional
Catholic Wake Service will be held at the funeral home Sunday
evening at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at
10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23rd, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in
Ticonderoga, with the Rev. Richard Huber officiating. Burial will
follow in the Trudeau family plot in Mt. Hope Cemetery in
Ticonderoga.

of flowers, the family suggest memorials in Mrs. Trudeau's memory
to the High Peaks Hospice, PO Box 195, Mineville, NY 12956.
Evelyn N. Passino
Cadyville
— Evelyn N. Passino, 79, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at her
home, surrounded by her family.
She was
born in Sciota on Sept. 19, 1921, the daughter of Roma and Carrie
(Monette) Neverett.
She
graduated from Mooers High School at the age of 15. She was a
member of the Mooers High School Alumni Association and was a
member of St. James Minor Church in Cadyville.
She is
survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Leonard
Ducatte of Cadyville and Sandy and Ross Rabideau of Cadyville;
four granddaughters, Melissa Carrier, Michelle Recore, Mallory
Ducatte and Heidi Mather; five great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
Her
husband, Donald Passino, died in 1985; and two brothers, Floyd and
Leo Neverett, died before her.
There
will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday from St. James Minor Church in
Cadyville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Memorial
donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation or the Juvenile
Diabetes Foundation in care of the family.
The

John F. Dixon
Lake
Placid — John F. Dixon, 75, of Forest Street in Lake Placid,
passed away Friday morning, Oct. 20, 2000, at the Adirondack
Medical Center in Saranac Lake after a lengthy illness.
He was
born in the Bronx, N.Y., on Oct. 2, 1925, the son of Felix A. and
Constance Stevens Meehan Dixon.
Jack
graduated from the Lake Placid High School Class of 1943 as
Salutatorian. He was also a graduate of Cornell University in
1950.
He was
employed by the Lake Placid School District from 1954 to 1979 as
district clerk, business manager, teacher, vice-principal and
principal. He was the high school football coach for many years
and his teams won several championships. He served as a member of
the Lake Placid School Board for 18 years and was manager of the
Greenwood for 18 years. Jack was a former member of the Lake
Placid Lions Club, the New York State Retired Teachers Association
and the Lake Placid American Legion Post 326.
He served
in the 10th Mountain Division in World War II from January 1944 to
August 1945, when he was wounded in action in Italy. For this, he
was awarded the Purple Heart.
He is
survived by his wife Elena (Shtcherbakova) Dixon and a
stepdaughter, Veronica Shtcherbakova, both of Lake Placid; his
former wife, Therese Kendrick Patnode of Lake Placid; four
daughters, Mary Pat Baker and her husband Michael, Suzanne Dixon,
Amy Beaney and her husband Philip, Mona Stevens Dixon and one son,
John K. Dixon and his fiancee, Valerie Abraham, all of Lake
Placid. He is also survived by one sister, Joan Dixon Peacock of
Lake Placid. Jack is also survived by four grandchildren, Erica
and John Bickford and Dan and Megan Baker; and several nieces and
nephews.
His
stepfather, Curtis P. Stevens, an infant daughter Sarah and a
brother, Thomas M. Dixon, died earlier.
Friends
may call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Sunday, Oct.
22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be an American Legion
Prayer Service on Sunday evening at 8 p.m., followed by a Bible
Vigil Service at 8:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St.
Agnes Church on Monday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Michael
Gaffney, pastor, officiating. Full military honors will be
provided at the graveside at St. Agnes Cemetery by the 10th
Mountain Division, Fort Drum.

Dr. Alfred A. Hartmann Sr.
Malone — Dr. Alfred A. Hartmann Sr., 89, of Elm Street, died
Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at his residence.
Born Sept. 13, 1911, in New York City, he was the son of Alois
and Ella (Friedrich) Hartmann.
He married Alice Reilly on Sept. 24, 1940, in St. Borremo
Church in Brooklyn. She predeceased him on Aug. 11, 1997.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Dr. Alfred
A. and Kathleen Hartmann Jr. of Malone and Col. Karl and Julia
Hartmann of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren and a spouse, Alfred
and Katie Hartmann of New York City, Kenneth Hartmann of
Charleston, S.C., Maureen Hartmann of Bozeman, Mont., Karl M.
Hartmann, Geta Hartmann and Anna Hartmann, all of St. Louis, Mo.
Besides his wife of 56 years and his parents, a sister,
Elizabeth Higgins, predeceased him.
He attended schools in Brooklyn, at P.S. 48 and later graduated
from St. Francis Xavier High School in Manhattan in 1929. In 1932,
he received a bachelor of arts degree from Fordham University
before entering Long Island College of Medicine. He received his
M.D. degree in 1936. After three years of post-graduate training
in general medicine and surgery, he entered the general practice
of medicine in Malone on Nov. 1, 1939.
Following his marriage, he and his wife made their home in
Malone, until he went on active duty in the U.S. Army in 1941
until 1946. The World War II years for Dr. Hartmann were spent
with the Fourth Infantry Division. He participated in the D-Day
landing and Utah Beach. He earned five campaign stars, one each
for the battles of Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes (Battle
of the Bulge) the Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the
Bronze Star and also holds a Medical Battalion Unit Citation for
work in Normandy and the Hurtgen Forest.
Because of his fluency in the German language, Dr. Hartmann was
transferred to the U.S. Military Government Unit after VE Day and
served as Director of Public Health for Upper Bavaria until June
of 1946. Following his separation from the Armed Forces, he
remained active in the U.S. Army Reserve where he retired with the
rank of full colonel in 1970.
His general practice of medicine was resumed in 1946 at the
Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone. In addition to a rewarding patient
practice, Dr. Hartmann was an active member of the Franklin County
Medical Society, where he was a long-standing delegate to the New
York State Medical Society. He also served as president of the
Fourth District Branch of the New York State Society and was
active in the American Medical Association functions. From
1968-1970, Dr. Hartmann was a program consultant for the
Department of Post-graduate Medicine at Albany Medical Center. He
also served as Director of the Franklin County Mental Health
Board. Dr. Hartmann retired after more than 50 years of active
medical practice.
Dr. Hartmann was a member of the Malone School Board from
1950-1960. For many years he was also a Director of the Citizens
National Bank in Malone. Despite his growing up in New York City,
Dr. Hartmann acquired a passion for the countryside and
particularly for trees. Following the Dutch elm disease in Malone,
he spearheaded a program to replant with hearty maple trees. He
worked diligently on this project well into his retirement years.
Dr. Hartmann was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Malone.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will
be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, in St.
Joseph's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lake
Titus Road.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alice Hyde Hospital or
Hospice of the North Country.
Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home,
Inc., in Malone.

Plattsburgh — Elizabeth H. Wrann of Plattsburgh died at the
age of 79 on Sept. 7, 2000.
A native of New York City, Elizabeth is survived by two
daughters and two sons-in-law, Clarice and Rolland Pulsifer of
Lewis and Jane and Jospeh DiMisa of Tampa, Fla.; a son and
daughter-in-law, Walter and Phyllis Wrann of Great Kills, Staten
Island; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Carol DuRen of
Great Neck; grandchildren Beatrice Disogra of Plattsburgh,
Christina and Kenny Whittemore and Nick and Karen Disogra of
Lewis, Carie Ann and Mark Herrera, Christopher and Christie
DiMisa, Gregory DiMisa, Jennifer and Geoff Rhoades and Noel DiMisa
of Tampa, Fla., Joseph and Natalie DiMisa of Atlanta, Ga., and
Jennifer McCave of Staten Island; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. Elizabeth’s Church in
Elizabethtown on Oct. 21, 2000, at 4:30 p.m.
Shyanne M. Martin, age 18 months, of Main Street in
Chateaugay, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, Oct. 18, 2000, at
the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, after being stricken at
her home.
Born in Malone on April 11, 1999, she is the daughter of Kevin
Jeror and Crystal Martin.
Calling hours will be Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, from 10 to 11:45
a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral
service will be held Saturday at noon in the funeral home chapel,
with the Rev. Fay Ager officiating. Burial will be in St.
Patrick's Cemetery in Chateaugay.

Lois W. Walker
CUMBERLAND HEAD — Lois W. Walker, 83, of Cumberland Head and
Pompano Beach, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Fletcher Allen
Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.
She was born on Jan. 30, 1917, in Ormstown, Quebec, the
daughter of Samuel J. and Mildred E. (Osmond) Gray.
Lois married Robert W. Walker at the Christ Church Cathedral in
Montreal on June 12, 1937. He died March 27, 1986.
She was a member of the North Country Alliance Church in West
Plattsburgh and the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort
Lauderdale, Fla. Mrs. Walker founded, owned and operated the R.W.
Walker Funeral Home with her husband, Robert W. Walker, from 1938
to 1979.
Lois began to collect antiques during the early 1940's and
later was an antiques dealer at the Pearl S. Buck Antiques Center
in Danby, Vt., for ten years. She continued at Martin House
Antiques in No. Ferrisburg, Vt., for 12 years, along with Cherry
Hill Antiques in her home on Cumberland Head for many years,
retiring in 1998.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law, Dick and
Lorraine Walker of Cumberland Head and John and Vicki Walker of
Plattsburgh; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Philip Hurd
of Ausable Chasm; five grandchildren, Johonna Walker, Cassie
Walker, Joshua Walker, Kristen Hurd and Jessica Walker; one
brother, Hollis Gray of St. Catherines, Ontario; one nephew,
Robert Gray of Brampton, Ontario; one niece and her husband, James
and Colleen Wallace of St. Catherines, Ontario, and their
children, Robert and Marissa.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service
will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Turnpike Wesleyan Church.
Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Chazy.

Herman M. Rabideau Sr.
Rouses Point — Herman M. Rabideau Sr., 93, formerly of the
Cannons Corners Road in Mooers Forks, died Wednesday, Oct. 18,
2000, at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point, where he had
been a patient since October 1995.
He was born in Mooers Forks on Sept. 5, 1907, the son of
Mitchel and Rose (Surprenant) Rabideau.
He was married to Clara Rabideau on Nov. 24, 1930, in St. Ann's
Church in Mooers Forks by Rev. A. M. Gilbert. Mrs Rabideau
predeceased him on June 15, 1988.
Mr. Rabideau is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law,
Herman and Rhoda Rabideau Jr. of Mooers Forks, Rufus and Rita
Rabideau of Ellenburg Depot and Harold and Shirley Rabideau of
Mooers Forks; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Marilyn and
Gerald Gadway of Mooers Forks, Marie Trombley of Mooers Forks,
Edith and Robert Surprenant of Mooers Forks and Jane and Jim
Forkey of Mooers; a sister, Mrs. Richard (Amelia) Monette of
Mooers Forks; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-granddaughter.
Those that preceded in death were a grandson, Terry L.
Rabideau; a brother, Lawrence Rabideau; and three sisters, Eva
Baker, Edith Tolosky and Flora Rabideau.
Mr. Rabideau was a dairy farmer on the Cannons Corners Road and
also drove a school bus for the Mooers School District for several
years. He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks
and former member of Knights of Columbus, Mooers Council 6136.
Active in politics, he served as a councilman for the Town of
Mooers for 16 years, a member of the Mooers Republican Committee
and board member of A.S.C.S. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on
Thursday, October 19th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral
services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20th, in St. Ann's
Church in Mooers Forks, with Rev. Gerald Cerank presiding.
Entombment will take place at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens
in Ellenburg Depot.
Donations in his memory may be made to the fire department and
rescue squads of Mooers or Ellenburg Depot.
Helen T. Guerin
Mooers Forks — Helen T. Guerin, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 17,
2000, at her residence.
She was born in Standish on April 3, 1921, the daughter of
Joseph and Minnie (Brooks) Garrow.
She was a member of St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene N. Guerin of Mooers
Forks; four sons, David J. Garrand Sr. of Malta, Carl E. Garrand
of Mooers, Eugene G. Guerin of Mooers Forks and Francis A. Guerin
of Schenectady; three daughters, Carolyn Babbie of Mooers Forks,
Bernice Grimshaw of Champlain and Shirley Gladd of Rouses Point; a
sister, Leona Couchie of Batavia; and many grandchildren,
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her first husband, Carson C. Garrand and a son, Sidney Garrand,
both died before her.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held
at 10 a.m. Saturday from the E.F. Drown Funeral Home chapel in
Ellenburg Depot. Burial will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial
Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.

Plattsburgh — Elizabeth H. Wrann of Plattsburgh died at the
age of 79 on Sept. 7, 2000.
A native of New York City, Elizabeth is survived by two

Ethel C. Baker, 89, formerly of Riverside Drive in Saranac

Henry E. Martin, 70, formerly of Saranac Lake and Madrid,

Morris Joseph Charette
Cadyville — Morris Joseph Charette, 71, of Cadyville, died
Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Ellenburg on Aug. 30, 1929, to the late Francis
Xavior and Florence (LeClair) Charette.
Mr. Charette attended Ellenburg Central School and was a dairy
farmer for several years. He was later employed by Gagnier
Brothers Potato Farm for 39 years and was a part-time employee of
McCadam Cheese Factory in Chateaugay.
He was a communicant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in
Churubusco and a long time member of the Knights of Columbus
Council 04441 in Ellenburg.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Della Louise
(Boadway) Charette; four sons, Leonard and Christine (Marlow)
Charette of Olympia, Wash., Ronald and Suzanne (LaValley) Charette
of Cadyville, Marshall and Carol (Dunn) Charette of Chateaugay and
Anthony and Heidi (Schaffer) Charette of Peru; four daughters,
Maureen and Anthony McPherson of Chicopee, Mass., Angela and
Joseph McPherson of Moira, Joanne and Kevin Goodman of Rutland,
Vt., and Roseanne and Louis Clark of Waterford; one
daughter-in-law, Anne (Scott) Charette of Churubusco; two
brothers, Leo Charette of Norristown, Pa., and Royal and Liz
Charette of Pahrump, Nev.; four sisters, Veronica and Harry
LaClair of Utica, Bertha Snay of Ellenburg, Elaine and Ivan
Trombley of Ellenburg and Lorraine and Paul Tatro of East Hampton,
Mass.; 25 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many
nieces and nephews.
Relatives who died previously include his parents; four
brothers, Ernest Charette, Joseph and Francis Charette and Raymond
Charette; two sons, Arthur Charette and James Charette; and two
grandsons, A.J. McPherson and Ronald Charette II.

Robert "Joe" Scott
Dannemora — Mr. Robert "Joe" Scott, 78, formerly of
Cook Street, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at the Meadowbrook Health
Care Facility, following a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.
He was born in AuSable Forks on Aug. 31, 1922, the son of the
late Dr. Joseph W. and Genevieve (Horrigan) Scott.
Joe was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine
Corps, stationed in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a graduate of St. Lawrence University, Class of 1950 and
was a member of the 1952 U.S. Olympic Bobsled Team, which traveled
to Oslo, Norway.
Joe married the former Katherine "Katie" Yelle at
Holy Name Church in AuSable Forks on Aug. 2, 1952. He began his
career as a correction officer at Clinton Correctional Facility
and later became a Pre-Release Coordinator, retiring in 1990 after
35 years of service.
Joe was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. He was a
member and past post commander of the former Adirondack Mountain
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1514, Dannemora and the Dannemora
Volunteer Fire Department, having served as its president for more
than 20 years. In 1985, Joe was named Dannemora Fireman of the
Year. Joe was active in community service having served on the
Saranac School Board and the parish council of St. Joseph's
Church.
He enjoyed spending time at his family camp on Silver Lake. He
also enjoyed golfing, hunting and dancing with his wife, Katie.
Joe will be fondly remembered for calling cadence in the numerous
parades the Dannemora Fire Department marched in.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Katie, on
May 20, 1994.
He is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Betsy
and Alan Durkee of Morrisonville, Joanne and John Schilling of
Reston, Va., Emilie and Pat Davenport of Hope Mills, N.C.,
Kathleen and Rob Karnbach of Dover, Del., and Margaret Scott and
her companion Marc Dudley of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters and a
brother-in-law, Loretta "Rebbie" and Frank Stover of
Falls Church, Va., and Katherine "Tootie" Welsh of
Plattsburgh; nine grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct. 19th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 20th, at 11 a. m.
at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Interment will follow in Holy
Name Cemetery in AuSable Forks.
Friends wishing may make donations to the Dannemora Fire
Department or the Third Age Adult Center at Sibley Hall.
Laura N. Martin
Syracuse — Laura N. Martin, 87, formerly of Syracuse and
Cazenovia, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Rosewood Heights Health
Canter in Syracuse. She was the widow of Harold F. Martin, who
died in 1994.
Mrs. Martin was born in New Jersey and had resided in the
Syracuse area for many years. She was a 1934 graduate of St.
Luke's School of Nursing in New York City and had been a
registered nurse at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. She
was a member of the Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church., O.E.S.
and an active member of the American Field Service.
She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Martin of Alexandria,
Va., and Diana Cleary of Oceanside, Calif.; two brothers, Frank
Nutt of Apple Valley, Calif., and Glenn Nutt of Rouses Point; one
sister, Phyllis Gokey of Rouses Point; and two grandsons.
Memorial services will be conducted at Rouses Point at a time
to be announced. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Syracuse.

Walter Lance Green
Wappinger Falls, N.Y. — Walter Lance Green, 53, formerly from
Keeseville, died at his home in Wappingers Falls on Oct. 16, 2000.
He was born in Plattsburgh on April 22, 1947, the son of
Charles L. and Ella M. (Pelkey) Green.
He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 and
again in 1977 to 1981.
He had lived in Wappinger Falls for 14 years and was co-manager
of 9D EZ Storage, Inc.
Survivors include Melodie A. Gebo of Wappingers Falls and her
sons, Alan Gebo and his wife Valerie and their children, Alandra
Gebo and Cory Worden of Peru and Arthur Gebo of Hopewell Junction,
N.Y.; his aunts and uncles, Muriel Douglas of Keeseville; John and
Alma Pelkey of Keeseville; and Wallace and Dorothy Russell of
Peru; and several nieces.
He was predeceased by his brother, James Green.
Graveside services will be held at Peru Cemetery in Peru at the
convenience of the family, with interment at the Peru Cemetery.
Lois W. Walker
CUMBERLAND HEAD — Lois W. Walker, 83, of Cumberland Head and
Pompano Beach, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Fletcher Allen
Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.
She was born on Jan. 30, 1917, in Ormstown, Quebec, the
daughter of Samuel J. and Mildred E. (Osmond) Gray.
Lois married Robert W. Walker at the Christ Church Cathedral in
Montreal on June 12, 1937. He died March 27, 1986.
She was a member of the North Country Alliance Church in West
Plattsburgh and the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort
Lauderdale, Fla. Mrs. Walker founded, owned and operated the R.W.
Walker Funeral Home with her husband, Robert W. Walker, from 1938
to 1979.
Lois began to collect antiques during the early 1940's and
later was an antiques dealer at the Pearl S. Buck Antiques Center
in Danby, Vt., for ten years. She continued at Martin House
Antiques in No. Ferrisburg, Vt., for 12 years, along with Cherry
Hill Antiques in her home on Cumberland Head for many years,
retiring in 1998.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law, Dick and
Lorraine Walker of Cumberland Head and John and Vicki Walker of
Plattsburgh; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Philip Hurd
of Ausable Chasm; five grandchildren, Johonna Walker, Cassie
Walker, Joshua Walker, Kristen Hurd and Jessica Walker.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service
will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Turnpike Wesleyan Church.
Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Chazy.

Frances M. Dwyer
Keene Valley — Frances Markey Dwyer, Ph.D., 89, of Keene
Valley, died on Oct. 17, 2000, in Burlington, Vt.
She was born in New York City, the daughter of the late Peter
and Sarah (Speer) Markey. She was a long term resident of
Syracuse.
Dr. Dwyer was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in
Manhattan, received her baccalaureate from Barnard College in 1931
and her doctorate from Columbia University in psychology in 1934.
Dr. Dwyer was a clinical psychologist. In addition to her
private practice, from which she retired in 1996, she taught at
Syracuse University in its College of Home Economics earlier in
her career. She also spent 25 years in adult night education with
the Syracuse public schools and served as a consultant with the
New York State Department of Labor on their Work Incentive
Program. She published several articles in Child Psychology and
authored several of the earliest child development monographs.
She was a member of the American Psychological Association, the
New York State Psychological Association and the Barnard College
Alumni Association.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Dwyer of Fairfield,
Iowa, and Johanna Dwyer of Jamaica Plain, Mass.; a son, Matthew H.
Dwyer of Keene; and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, M. Harold "Pete"
Dwyer, Esq., formerly a partner in the Hancock and Estabrook LLP
of Syracuse; two daughters, Virginia Dwyer (infant) in 1951 and
Elisabeth Brooks in 1971; and her only sister, Elizabeth M. Lyons,
in 1971.

20, 2000, from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on

John (Jack) Montroy
WENDELL, N.C. — John (Jack) Montroy, 69,
formerly of Plattsburgh, died at his home on Sunday, Oct. 15,
2000.
He was born in Ogdensburg on Nov. 7, 1930, the
son of the late Ernest and Crolla (Smith) Montroy.
He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force
and retired from Wyeth-Ayerst Research in 1986 and moved to
Wendell, N.C.
Jack is survived by his wife Patricia of North
Carolina; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Marie
Montroy of Plattsburgh, John and Donna Montroy of Beekmantown and
Andrew and Jennifer Montroy of North Carolina; two daughters,
Michele deJongh and Jean Montroy, both of North Carolina; a
brother, Clifford, of Ogdensburg; and 14 grandchildren.

Mildred Louise Chase
INVERNESS, Fla. — Mildred Louise Chase,
age 79 of Oak Pond, Inverness, died Sunday, October 15, 2000 at
Citrus Memorial Hospital.
Born in Waltham, Massachusetts on September 19,
1921 to the late Carl Albert & Ida L. (Helgeson) Lindstrom,
she came here in 1998 from Plattsburgh, New York.
Mrs. Chase was a homemaker and member of the
Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Home Demonstration Extension
Services and a volunteer with the CVPH Medical Center all of
Plattsburgh, New York.
She was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54
years, Warren L. Chase; two sons, Warren L. "Bud" (Helen
Z.) Chase of Granville, Ohio and William A. (Rhea B.) Chase of
Plattsburgh; two daughters: Barbara C. (Bruce S.) McCowan, E.
Greenwich, R.I. and Judith L. (Bruce M.) Belrose of West Chazy;
one sister, Elaine M. Johnson of Salem, N.H.; and 12
grandchildren: Sandra, Elizabeth, Anthony, Nicholas, John James,
Corey, Derek, Michael, Natasha, Nicole, Samantha and Matthew.
A memorial service will be conducted on Friday,
October 20, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church
of Plattsburgh.
Inurnment will follow at a later date in the
Mt. Feake Cemetery in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Richard L. Butchino
Rochester,
N.Y. — Richard L. Butchino died at his residence in Rochester on
Oct. 5, 2000, at the age of 60.
He was
born on June 20, 1940, the son of Ozias and Pearl (Cook) Butchino.
He served
in the U.S. Army. He did a tour in Vietnam and received the Purple
Heart, Three Star Cluster and Overseas Bar. He was a member of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is
survived by his wife, Linda Butchino of Rochester; one sister,
Roberta Trombley of Plattsburgh; five brothers, Robert of
Hillsboro, Ore., Ronald of Dannemora, Royce of Plattsburgh,
Reginald of Saratoga Springs and Roderick of Peru.
He was
predeceased by his son, Robby; his father and mother; and one
brother, Roger.

Bernice A. Gagnier

— Bernice A. Gagnier, 79, of Chateaugay, died Friday, Oct. 13,
2000, at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.
She was
born in North Bangor, on June 18, 1921, the daughter of Howard and
Mary (Dickinson) Aldrich.
She was
married to Edgar G.S. Gagnier on Feb. 16, 1945, in St. Patrick's
Church in Washington, D.C.; he survives.
Mrs.
Gagnier is also survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Edgar
Jerry and Michaele Gagnier of Chazy Lake, Glen and Dorothy Gagnier
of Croghan, N.Y., and John and Cindy Gagnier of Valparaiso, Ind.;
two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Daniel Waldron of
Chateaugay Lake and Giesele and Darwin LaClair of Chateaugay; 15
grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother and sister-in-law,
Kermit and Almeta Aldrich of Malone; and a sister, Betty Brigham
of Redmond, Wash.
She was
predeceased by a granddaughter, Danielle Waldron, in 1973.
Mrs.
Gagnier was a 1937 graduate of Franklin Academy. She served in the
U.S. Navy during World War II. She worked at Farmer's National
Bank for several years and then at Key Bank in Ellenburg Depot.
She was also a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay.
Mrs. Gagnier resided in Churubusco for many years before moving to
Chateaugay in the mid-1980's.

hours will be at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 15th,
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services are tentatively set
at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at the Chateaugay Funeral

Gilbert J. Burnell

— Gilbert J. Burnell, 66, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at his
residence.
He was
born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 18, 1933, the son of Earl G. and
Gladys H. (Fink) Burnell.
He
married the former Carol Halahan on Aug. 27, 1955.
He was a
graduate of Plattsburgh State University and was inducted into
their sports Hall of Fame in 1992 in recognition of his
contributions to the college's athletic program. He began his
teaching career in South Glens Falls in 1955. In 1959, he became
elementary principal at North Creek and in 1961 he went to the
Saranac Central School system and retired as elementary principal
in 1989.
Gil was a
member of the Bluff Point Golf and Country Club, where he was past
club champion. He was a member of the School Administrators
Association of New York State and Buck's Hunting Club. He was a
member of St. Joseph's Church in Treadwells Mills.
He is
survived by his wife Carol; three daughters and sons-in-law, Katie
and Tim Rogers of North Canton, Ohio, Christen and John Cardina of
Wooster, Ohio, and Heather and John Tutwiler of Charlotte, N.C.;
two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert "Red" and Margo
Burnell and Earl and Judy Burnell, all of Plattsburgh; a sister
and brother-in-law, Karen and Gene Armstrong of Plattsburgh; two
granddaughters, Caitlin and Mollie Cardina; a grandson, Ryan
Tutwiler; and several nieces and nephews.
There

celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday from St. Joseph's Church in

and Anna Spooner of Plattsburgh; and her grandmother, Georgianna
Spooner of Plattsburgh. Several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles

She was
predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Catherine
