Margaret (Marcoux) King
Willsboro
— Margaret King, 88, died at the Horace Nye Home in
Elizabethtown on Friday, Sept. 22, 2000.
Mrs.
King, formerly of Willsboro, had been a resident at Horace Nye
Home since November of 1999.
She was
first and foremost a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and
homemaker. She was a member of St. Philip's Church and a former
and charter member of The Catholic Daughters Court St. Joan of Arc
867.
She is
survived by sons and daughters-in-law and daughters and
sons-in-law, Wayne and Ellie King of Memphis, Tenn., Janice and
Conrad Hutchins of Elizabethtown, James and Danice King of South
Glens Falls, Gary and Beverly King of Willsboro, Charlotte and
Robert Burt of Willsboro, Michael and Carol King of Plattsburgh,
Warren King of Willsboro, and Daniel and Bonnie King of Willsboro;
33 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
She was
predeceased by her husband Mark in 1984; one son, Stephen; two
grandchildren; three sisters, Serena Frenier, Irene Liberty and
Leda Patnode; and one brother, Donald Marcoux.
Calling
hours will be at St. Philip’s Church at 9 a.m., preceding a 10
a.m. Mass on Monday, Sept. 25, 2000. Burial will follow at Calvary
Cemetery.
In lieu

Butler, 90, of
Champlain Street in Plattsburgh, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at
the CVPH Medical Center.
She was
born in Estille, S.C., on July 4, 1910, the daughter of Allen and
Bessie Jones.

Lawrence
E. Adlis, 55, of
State Route 11B in North Bangor, died unexpectedly Wednesday,
Sept. 20, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, after
being stricken at his home.
He was
born in Thief River Falls, Minn., on April 26, 1945, the son of
Joseph and Elphie (Hegstrom) Adlis.
There are
no calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2
p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. Burial will be
in the Bethesda Cemetery in Strandquist, Minn.
Donations
may be made in his memory to either the North Bangor Volunteer
Fire and Rescue Department or to the American Heart Association.

Lela Paddock Witherbee,
73, of Syracuse, and formerly of Mineville, died Tuesday, Sept.
19, 2000, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.
She was
born in Syracuse.
There
will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on
Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at 3 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s
Witnesses at 7758 Maple Road in Baldwinsville. Burial will be in
Union Cemetery in Port Henry.

Margaret Drinkwine
Port
Henry — Margaret Drinkwine, 83, of the Lee House Apartments,
Main Street in Port Henry, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at the
W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Conn.
She was
born on Feb. 17, 1917, the daughter of Frederick and Lottie Wells.
Margaret
is survived by her daughter, Lana Ferris of Norwich, Conn.; her
son, Robert Williams of Owego; three sisters, Bernice Delorm,
Cecile House and Shirley Johndrow, all of Ticonderoga; six
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was
predeceased by her husband, Lenus Drinkwine; and her daughter,
Carol Evens.
Calling
hours will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral
Home in Port Henry. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at
9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s
Cemetery in Ticonderoga.

Leona F. Depo
Keeseville
— Leona F. Depo, 73, of Keeseville Country Gardens, died
Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in
Plattsburgh, with her family by her side.
She was
born in Keeseville on Nov. 14, 1926, the daughter of Raymond Sr.
and Nellie (Martin) McLean.
She
married Charles "Maynard" Depo Sr. on May 10, 1944, at
St. John's Church in Keeseville. He died July 12, 1983.
Mrs. Depo
was a cook for many years at McLean's Dairy Bar in Keeseville.
Leona was a member of the Keeseville VFW Post 1505 Ladies
Auxiliary, a life member of the AuSable Forks American Legion Post
504 Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Keeseville Senior Citizens
Club, a past member of the Keeseville Catholic Daughters and a
communicant of St. John's Church in Keeseville. She enjoyed
playing bingo and shuffleboard.
Survivors
include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Jr. and Nancy Depo of
West Chazy; five daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Randy
Thomas of Peru, Carol and Clifford Vassar of Keeseville, Linda and
Robert Douglas of Clintonville, Gloria and Stanley Bordeau of
Keeseville and Cindy and Roger Douglas of Clintonville; 20
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
She was
predeceased by her husband; two sisters, Frances Rivers on April
11, 1976, and Beulah Spooner on Dec. 16, 1988; and one brother,
Raymond McLean Jr. on March 28, 1982.
Calling
hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial
will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Church in
Keeseville. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Dora S. Shaw
Altona
— Mrs. Dora S. Shaw, 97, formerly of Altona, died Thursday,
Sept. 21, 2000, at the Birchwood Terrace Health Care Facilty in
Burlington, Vt.
She was
born in Altona on Sept. 25, 1902, the daughter of the late William
and Emma (Clark) Baker.
Dora made
her home in Altona until the death of her husband, William Shaw,
in 1965. She then moved to Glens Falls to live with her daughter,
Delia Gilman, until Delia passed away. Dora then made her home in
Vermont.
She
enjoyed crafts, crocheting and was a member of the Church of the
Nazarene.
Other
family members who have gone before her are a son, Carl Shaw; four
brothers, Henry, Edward, Leo and Francis; a granddaughter, Susan
Moulton; a daughter-in-law, Elsie Shaw; and two sons-in-law,
Lawrence Ratta and William Gilman.
Dora is
survived by four sons and four daughters-in-law, Floyd and Louise
Shaw of Governeur, Harold and Nancy Shaw of Olmstedville, Robert
and Susan Shaw of Altona and Donald and Diane Shaw of Altona; five
daughters and three sons-in-law, Catherine and Floyd Fifield of
Orange, Mass., Bertha and Harold Page of Brattleboro, Vt., Eleanor
Ratta of Williston, Vt., and Velida Kyttle, Mary and Bernard Page
of Lyndonville, Vt.; a sister, Anna Meseck of Mooers Forks; 28
grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four
great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling
hours will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Brown Funeral
Home in Altona with a funeral service to follow at noon. Interment
will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Altona.

Bertha H. Robinson
Champlain
— Bertha H. Robinson, 82, of 46 Route 276, died Tuesday, Sept.
19, 2000, at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point.
She was
born in St. Bernard, Quebec, on May 9, 1918, the daughter of Ulri
and Blandine (Deneault) Racine.
Bertha
was a loving and caring person. She was active in Home Bureau,
secretary of the Champlain Grange, a member of the Pamona Grange
and joyfully devoted many hours of leadership to the youth of the
4-H club.
She is
survived by her loving husband, Leon C. Robinson. They were
married 60 years ago on Sept. 5, 1940, at St. Mary's Church in
Champlain.
Bertha
was a homemaker and devoted mother. She is survived by two sons
and daughters-in-law, Donald and Nancy Robinson of 546 North
Cherry St., Celina, Ohio, and Ronald and Judy Robinson of 2835
North Troy Piqua Rd., Troy, Ohio; and one daughter and son-in-law,
Jane and Gerald Arno of 569 Mason Road, Champlain.
Also
surviving are four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lorreta
Favreau of Tampa, Fla., Blanche Girard of Wallingford, Conn.,
Claire and George Tetreault and Irene Tetreault of Champlain; and
four brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Gladys Racine of
Champlain, Roland and Patricia Racine of Plattsburgh and Maurice
and Lucille Racine of Champlain.
She was
predeceased by her parents and four brothers, Arthur, Alfred,
Allyre and Rene.
Bertha
was greatly loved and admired by her seven grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.

Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Church in Champlain. Burial

Odisa M.
Nesbit, 87, of
the Vale Haven Adult Home and formerly of Duane Street in Malone,
died Wednesday morning, Sept. 20, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical
Center in Malone. She had been a patient there since Sept. 11th.
She was
born in Massena on March 20, 1913, the daughter of the late Hugh
and Margaret (Collette) Grant.
Calling
hours will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers
Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held Friday at
10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Thomas Davis

Mildred Mae Bordeau
West
Chazy — Mildred Mae Bordeau, 68, of Silver Creek Lane, returned
to the arms of the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at her home,
surrounded by her loving family.
She was
born in Plattsburgh on May 7, 1932, daughter of the late Albert G.
and Mabel G. (Fordham) Brown.
Mildred
had attended a one-room country schoolhouse. She attended St.
Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Mildred enjoyed camping, fishing
and ceramics and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mildred
is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gerald "Mike"
Bordeau of West Chazy. They were married on May 25, 1950, at St.
Peter's Church in Plattsburgh.
She is
also survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gerald M. and
Brenda Bordeau of Ausable Forks and David J. Bordeau of
Plattsburgh; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Sharron Bordeau
of West Chazy, Karen and Robert Jock of Plattsburgh, Nancy and
Kenneth Champain of Plattsburgh, Lori and Martin Relation of West
Chazy and Helen and David Wentzel of West Chazy; a special family
friend, Jamie Trombley of Plattsburgh; a sister and
brother-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" and Frank Gregory of
Waldwick, N.J.; a brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Mildred
Brown of Plattsburgh; ten grandchildren, Robert and his wife Ana,
Christian and his wife Heather, Shari, Jennifer, Sarah, Andrea,
April, Justin, Heather and D.J.; a great-granddaughter, Kaetlyn;
and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred
was predeceased by a sister, Mary Burkette; two brothers, Thomas
Brown and William Brown; and a granddaughter, Jessica Dawn
Champain.

Gary W. Dodson
DANNEMORA
— Gary W. Dodson, 53, of Emmons Street, died Sunday, Sept. 17,
2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was
born in Martinsville, Va., on March 1, 1947, the son of Ernest and
Pansy (Sawyers) Dodson.
Mr.
Dodson served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972. He worked
as a technical representative for the Department of Defense on the
Plattsburgh Air Force Base for 28 years until his retirement in
1995. He was a big NASCAR fan, enjoyed working on computers and
liked to work on woodworking and house renovations.
Survivors
include his wife, the former Patti Wrisley of Dannemora; one
brother, Kenneth Hanks of Shady Grove, N.C.; one sister, Janet
Parmeley of Pinellas Park, Fla.; two nieces and five nephews.
There
will be no public calling hours. Funeral services will be held at
the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Roselawn
Cemetery in Martinsville, Va., at a later date.
Donations
in his memory may be made to the Dannemora Volunteer Fire
Department.

John Lander Newbegin
Point Au
Fer — John Lander Newbegin, 89, of Point Au Fer, passed away on
Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was
born in Portland, Maine, on June 8, 1911, the son of Francis and
Ida (Knight) Newbegin.
John
received his degree in civil engineering from MIT in 1934. He was
a veteran of World War II and was honorably discharged from the
U.S. Army as a lieutenant.
He was an
accomplished rock climber and skier, but he wasn't so hot at golf.
He was active in Boy Scouts, receiving the Silver Beaver award in
1963. He was also a Mason and a member of Kiwanis.
He
successfully sailed his boat "'The Kitty" through the
hurricane of 1938 off Rhode Island, surviving winds exceeding 120
mph - an event he called "the adventure of my life."
He spent
his retirement years at the home he built on Point Au Fer with his
wife of 57 years, Helen (Parker), who survives him. He is also
survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert and Gaye
Newbegin of East Berne, and David and Brenda Newbegin of Basking
Ridge, N.J.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Rob McDowell of
Plattsburgh; seven grandchildren, Adam, Heather and Robin
Newbegin, Damian, Brooke and Parker Stafford and David McDowell.
There
will be no public calling hours. A memorial service will be held
at a later date.
He was
the best.

PLATTSBURGH
— Adrieth M. Daily, 68, of South Catherine Street, died Monday,
Sept. 18, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was
born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 1, 1932, the daughter of George and
Bertha (Reil) Ducatte.
Mrs.
Daily was a member of St. Peter's Church. She was a devoted sister
and aunt. Adrieth worked as a custodial worker at Our Lady of
Victory Secretarial School for over 25 years, retiring in 1985.
Survivors
include two brothers and one sister-in-law, Alvin Ducatte and his
wife Carol of Plattsburgh and Larry Ducatte of Plattsburgh; three
sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mrs. Donald (Maidge) Hewson of
Plattsburgh, Mrs. James (Brenda) Stockdale of Plattsburgh and Mrs.
Linda Justus of Plattsburgh; and several nieces, nephews,
great-nieces and great-nephews.
One
sister, Gloria Collins; her husband Robert Collins; and one infant
son predeceased her.

hours will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be

Nancy C. Sutkoff, 48, of Telegraph Road in Peru, died Sept. 19,
2000, at the home of her daughter in Plattsburgh.
She was
born in Oklahoma City, Okla., the daughter of John and Donna
(Cutnose) Henderson.
She
married James M. Sutkoff on March 21, 1971. She was a communicant
of St. Augustine's Church in Peru. She enjoyed spending time
working on and decorating her home.
Survivors
include her husband, James M. Sutkoff, of Peru; one son, Paul
Robins of Savanna, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Marie
and Sean Dresser of Plattsburgh and Theresa and James Griffin of
Deland, Fla.; her mother; eight grandchildren, Heather, Jade and
Cheyenne, Cameron, Laila, Jule, Victoria and Bradley; and several
nieces and nephews.

— Flora M. Rock, 82, of Route 9 in Plattsburgh, died Monday,
Sept. 18, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was
born in Plattsburgh on May 16, 1918, daughter of the late William
and Lucy (Premore) Macey.
Flora had
attended Elizabeth Street School and Plattsburgh High School. She
was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Cumberland Head.
Flora is
survived by a sister, Dorothy Supernaw, of Plattsburgh; and
several nieces and nephews.
Flora was
predeceased by her husband, Everest Rock, in 1986; two brothers,
Ernest Macey and Floyd Macey; and a sister, Grace Sevek.

Isabell F. Fountain, 76, of Route 22, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000,
at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was
born March 19, 1924, in Keeseville, the daughter of Nelson and
Mabel (LaMountain) Blaise.
Isabell
worked in Peru at the orchards as a packer and then for Sacred
Heart Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.
She was
predeceased by her husband, Clifford Fountain; one brother,
Sherman Blaise; and two sisters, Margaret Blaise and Leona
Mousseau.
Survivors
include her companion of 23 years, William R. Grube of Peru; two
daughters and one brother-in-law, Mary and Robert Miner of Niagara
Falls and June Kennedy of Plattsburgh; three sisters and two
brothers-in-law, Theresa Manning of Keeseville, Joan and Robert
Doyle of Keeseville and Jane and Donald Fountain of Keeseville;
one brother, Laurence Blaise of Keeseville; one aunt, Beatrice
White of Plattsburgh; two sisters-in-law, Betty Blaise of
Keeseville and Rita Fountain of Plattsburgh: several
grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A

Church in Peru, with Rev. Vicente F. Jazmines, pastor. Burial will
follow in the parish cemetery.

Adam Christopher Sarazen
PERU — Adam
Christopher Sarazen, infant son of William L. and Bridget M.
(Maher) Sarazen, died Friday, September 15, 2000 at the CVPH
Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
Adam is survived
by his parents of Peru; a brother, Alexander Sarazen of Peru; his
maternal grandmother, Judith Maher of Tupper Lake; paternal
grandparents, Leo and Elaine Sarazen of Piercefield; maternal
great-grandmother Kathleen Ross of Tupper Lake; paternal
great-grandmother, Rena Drew of Piercefield; paternal
great-grandfather, Leo J. Sarazen of Tupper Lake; and many aunts,
uncles and cousins.
Adam was
pre-deceased by his maternal grandfather, Donald C. Maher;
paternal great-grandfather, Harlan "Peanut" Drew;
paternal great-grandfather, William LaPradd and paternal
great-grandmother, Clara Sarazen.
Funeral services
will be private at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in
St. Augustine’s Cemetery in Peru.

Cynthia Janes Kimberley
MALONE — Cynthia
Janes Kimberley, 66, of 141 Webster St., Malone, died Sept. 15,
2000, at Alice Hyde Medical Center where she had been a patient
since Sept. 6.
The daughter of
Edmund D. and Charlotte K. Janes, she was born in Waterbury, Conn.
on Sept. 14, 1934, and was a graduate of St. Margaret’s School
in Waterbury and Colby Junior College in New London, N.H.
Married on June
25, 1955, in Middlebury, Conn., to John C. Kimberley, she is
survived by her husband and three children, Jennifer K. and
husband Daniel Savage of Pembroke, N.H., Matthew J. of Malone, and
Christopher of Albany. There are three grandchildren, also of
Pembroke, N.H., Nicholas B. Kimberley-Sabin, Adam J. Sabin and
Kate K. Sabin. Also surviving are her niece and husband, Mr. and
Mrs. Christopher J. Buttaro, their sons Michael and Stephen of
Glastonbury, Conn., and nephew Timothy and daughter Jillian of
Ivoryton, Conn.
She was
predeceased by her parents and a sister, Charlotte J. Iverson.
Mrs. Kimberley was
a member of the First Congregational Church, active in the Alice
Hyde Medical Center Auxiliary, the Women’s Fellowship of the
First Congregational Church, and she was Sunday School teacher for
many years.
A memorial service
will be held later in the fall.

Gail M. Tatro

— Gail M. Tatro, 56, of Route 22 in Westport, died Friday, Sept.
15, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, following a
brief illness.
She was
born in St. Louis, Mo., Aug. 16, 1944, the daughter of Philip and
Virginia (Hodges) Fortsch.
She
married Gilbert R. Tatro on Feb. 14, 1981.
Mrs.
Tatro was employed as the file clerk with the Town of Westport,
owned and operated Abigail Cakes and Catering and was a former
school bus driver. She was the secretary of the zoning and
planning boards for Westport, secretary for the youth commission
and court clerk for the Town of Westport. She was unit president
for the Clinton County CSEA. She was a member of the Westport Fire
Department Auxiliary.
Survivors
include her husband, Gilbert R. Tatro of Wadhams; two sons and one
daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Carol Schwoebel of Westport and
Lawrence Poremski of Shelburne, Vt.; her mother, Virginia Fortsch
of Chazy; one step-daughter, Judy Vanderhoof of Florida; one
sister, Michelle Gray of New Jersey; one brother and
sister-in-law, Philip and Linda Fortsch of Chazy; two
grandchildren, Danielle Elizabeth Schwoebel and Hannah Marie
Schwoebel; and several nieces and nephews.

He was
born in Piercefield on Mar. 24, 1924, the son of Francis Xavier
and Marion Katherine (Prespare) Godin.
He
attended Holy Ghost Academy, graduating with the class of 1942. He
entered the U.S. Army and served in France and Germany during
World War II and convalesced in England before being honorably
discharged.
He and
Marie Evelyn King were married Nov. 16, 1946, at St. Alphonsus
Church by Father Hervieux. He had worked with his father-in-law at
King's Electric, eventually owning and operating that business
until his retirement in 1986.
He was a
lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and past first
commander and also a lifelong member of the Disabled American
Veterans. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his
grandchildren.
He is
survived by his wife of 53 years; two sons, Paul of Potsdam and
William of Tupper Lake; a daughter, Suzanne (Mrs. Brian) Sherwood
of Tupper Lake; five grandchildren; six brothers, Richard, Robert
and Charles, all of Tupper Lake, Jack of Great Bend, Kan., Maurice
of Long Lake and James of Valrico, Fla.; and two sisters, Jean
Godin of Tupper Lake and Theresa Madore of Malone.
He was
predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Donald.
Calling
hours for Mr. Godin will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17, from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A
funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Sept 18, 2000, at 10 a.m. at
St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake with Fr. Donald Kramberg
officiating. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery with
full military honors.
Memorial
contributions in Mr. Godin's name may be considered to the
American Heart Association.

Mullen, 89, of
the Trudeau Road in Saranac Lake, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000,
at her home.
She was
born March 12, 1911, in Enosburg Falls, Vt.
A
Memorial Service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First
United Methodist Church in Saranac Lake. Burial will be in
Harrietstown Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
Arrangements
are with the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc. in Saranac Lake.
Luca Tara
Downer, 10,
daughter of Roderick and Terri (Otis) Downer of the Davis Road in
Chateaugay, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at her home following a
brief illness.
Calling
hours will be Sunday, Sept. 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Chateaugay Funeral Home with funeral services on Monday at 10 a.m.
in the Brainardsville United Methodist Church in Brainardsville.
Burial will follow in the Brainardsville Cemetery.
