Shirley E. Hastings, 56, of the Converse Road in Ft. Jackson, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at her home after a long illness with cancer.

Born Jan. 11, 1944, in Malone, she was the daughter of Jack and Violet Barney Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in North Lawrence, with the Rev. Donald Work officiating. The funeral home will be open Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. for calling hours. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dickinson Center.

Jeannette Rose Janos, 84, formerly of Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in Queensbury.

She was born Nov. 16, 1915, in St. Louis de Gonzague, Quebec, Canada.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake. Interment will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.

Florence Hogan, 80, of New Port Richie, Fla., and formerly of Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in New Port Richie.

She was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Vermontville.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Bible vigil will be held at 8 p.m. on Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 11:15 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake. Interment will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.

Lena M. Trippany, 98, formerly of 215 Elm Street in Malone, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at Highland Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for a week.

Born Jan. 24, 1902, in Bellmont, she was the daughter of Frank and Mary Chapple Tougas.

Calling hours will be Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home chapel from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Notre Dame Church. Burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery.

Sr. Alexis De Marie, aka, Sr. Euphemie Chagnon, 88, of Mt. Sacred Heart Convent, passed away at the convent on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, after a brief illness.

She was born in Champlain, the daughter of Alexis and Marie (Riche) Chagnon.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Mt. Sacred Heart Convent in Littleton, N.H., on Friday, Aug. 18, and burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Newport, Vt.

The Ross Funeral Home in Littleton is in charge of arrangements.

Betty M. Harnden, age 67, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at the Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown.

Betty was born on March 16, 1933, in Moriah, the daughter of Ralza and Martha (Malborn) Jaquish.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Moriah. Rev. Alice Hobbs will officiate. Burial will be in the Moriah Union Cemetery.

The Harland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clifford Duquette

Champlain — Clifford Duquette, 81, died Aug. 6, 2000, at Largo Medical Center in Largo, Fla. He had been under hospice care.

He was born April 24, 1919, in Champlain.

He was an industrial engineering analyst for Harris Corporation in Champlain. He served in the Navy during World War II, was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a long time member of the American Legion Post 767 of Champlain.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Agnes; a son, Gregory and daughter-in-law Sandy of West Chazy; a daughter, Candace; and daughter-in-law, Mary of Rotterdam. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Michelle Duquette of Cordova, Tenn., Heather Duquette of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Natasha Cucinella of Auton, Mass.; and a great-grandchild, Isabelle Cucinella.

There will be a memorial Mass on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus in Champlain.

In lieu to flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

Helen E. Turner

Rouses Point — Helen E. Turner, 83, passed away at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000.

Mrs. Turner was born in Lyon Mountain on July 11, 1917, the daughter of William and Claire (Revoir) Cordick.

Prior to retiring, she had been a brokerage clerk for F.W. Myers in Rouses Point. Her husband, Raymond Turner, passed away in 1972.

Mrs. Turner is survived by one daughter, Janice Butler and her husband, Lawrence of Plattsburgh; one sister, Geraldine Sayward of Willsboro; two grandchildren, Chris Butler and his wife, Danielle Butler of Plattsburgh and Kevin Butler, also of Plattsburgh. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Michaela and Jacob Butler of Plattsburgh.

Four brothers, William, Robert, Donald and Martin Cordick died earlier.

Mrs. Turner was a member of the Legion of Mary of St . Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday morning, Aug. 18, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church. Burial will be in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery.

Guy B. Fenwick III

Morrisonville — Mr. Guy B. Fenwick III, 57, of Pinebrook Drive, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Baltimore, Md., on July 14, 1943, the son of Bernard and Eleanor (Brady) Fenwick.

He graduated from the University of Maryland and from Officers Candidate School as a Second Lieutenant. Guy had served in the U.S. Army from 1966 until 1969 and was discharged as a First Lieutenant.

He was the owner of Alchemy Environmental Labs of Plattsburgh. Guy served on the board of directors for PARC and the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Plattsburgh and was a member of the Plattsburgh Rotary Club.

He was an avid reader, enjoyed flying and boating, but most importantly, his family. He was a member of St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville.

Guy was predeceased by his father, G. Bernard Fenwick Jr.; and a brother, Francis Lightfoot Fenwick.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Hutti) Fenwick of Morrisonville; his mother, Eleanor Fenwick of Lutherville, Md.; two sons, Robert Fenwick of Plantation, Fla., and Michael Fenwick of Plattsburgh; four stepsons and two daughters-in-law, Christopher and Jody Hutti of Beekmantown, Paul Hutti of Dannemora, Dismas and Lil Hutti of Morrisonville and Roger Hutti and his friend, Kim of Plattsburgh; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jack and Molly Fenwick of Washington, D.C., and George and Rita Fenwick of The Plains, Va.; eight stepgrand-children, Kimberly, Joseph, Victoria, Mary Louise, James, Shaun, Kayla and Jesse; his first wife, Rennie Fenwick of Lake Worth, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville. Interment will follow in St. Alexander’s Cemetery.

Edward "Ed" Callanan

Willsboro — Edward "Ed" Callanan, 70, passed away early Monday morning, Aug. 14, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center after a long illness.

He was born on Aug. 19, 1929, in Corry, Pa., to Ethel (Duquette) and Edmund Callanan.

Ed attended and graduated from Saint John’s Academy, class of 1946 and the Plattsburgh Business Institute in Plattsburgh. Ed worked for the D&H Railroad and was, at one time, the owner and operator of the North End Tavern in Willsboro. Ed assisted in coaching the Willsboro Basketball Town Team and was a committeeman of the Essex County Democratic Party.

He had sung midnight Mass for 50 years and directed the church choir. An avid New York Yankees fan, Ed also enjoyed playing golf and watching other sports.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Theresa (Buckley) Callanan; and their five children and spouses, Patricia (Callanan) Wehmeyer and Robert Wehmeyer of Atlanta, Ga. and Schenectady, Maureen (Callanan) Picone and Al Picone of Glens Falls and Hollywood, Fla., Casey Callanan of Buffalo, Theresa (Callanan) Kempf and Joe Kempf of Glens Falls and Kathleen (Callanan) Johnson and John Burke of Plattsburgh and Burlington, Vt. Mr. Callanan is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, Joshua Wehmeyer of Atlanta, Ga., Jamie Wehmeyer of Schenectady, Patrick Picone of Glens Falls, Megan Callanan, Christine Callanan, Eamon Callanan and Erin Callanan, all of Rochester, Sarah Kempf and Caitlin Kempf of Glens Falls and Conor Cooley and Logan Cooley, both of Plattsburgh.

A memorial Mass is to be conducted on Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Philips of Jesus in Willsboro, with a reception to follow the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westport or Willsboro Rescue Squads.

Nellie Ella Foley, 85, of Brushton and formerly of Chateaugay, died Aug. 15, 2000, at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

Born in Norwich on Aug. 4, 1915, she was the daughter of Horace and Rene (VanName) Wilcox.

Visitation will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. immediately following calling hours in the Chateaugay Funeral Home, with Rev. Eleanor Bellows officiating. Burial will take place at Eastside Cemetery in Chateaugay.

Arrangements are by Chateaugay Funeral Home.

Evelyn S. Proulx, 92, of Salmon River Road, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at her daughter’s home, with whom she had been living, following a short illness.

Born March 3, 1908, in North River, she was the daughter of the late Emery and Alice (Keith) Cleveland.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Alexander Funeral Home at 3809 Main Street in Warrensburg, with Rev. Dawn Robbins-Wood, pastor of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call on the family from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery.

Harold Patnode, 73, of Onchiota, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

He was born July 29, 1927, in Onchiota.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Bible vigil will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday. Sarah Ann Ford

Plattsburgh — Sarah Ann Ford died on Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at the Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.

Sarah was born in Milford, Del., on June 30, 1930. She was one of six daughters born to Elsie and Sarah Hill. She was raised in a Christian home and believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Sarah Ann Hill was married in Dover, Del., on Feb. 28, 1961, to Staff Sergeant Luke Ford, U.S. Air Force. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Jon Ashley Ford of Las Vegas, Nev., Marvella Elizabeth Ford of Detroit, Mich., and Anthony Wellington Ford of Plattsburgh; Sara Ann Ford has two daughters-in-law, Bonnie (Nephew) Ford of Las Vegas, Nev., and Carrie Relation of Plattsburgh; Sarah Ann’s five grandchildren are Steven, Kevin, Mychal and Allison Ford of Las Vegas, Nev., and Tavon Relation-Ford of Plattsburgh.

She leaves behind two sisters, Dorothy Cubbage and Louella Baines of Delaware, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Sarah Ann Ford worked as a nurses aide for 15 years at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital. She was an excellent bowler and an avid baseball fan. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and crocheting.

Sarah Ann Ford impressed all who knew her with her knowledge, wisdom and quick wit. She had great compassion and love for others and was well loved. Her body is now at rest and her spirit lives in Christ.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home with funeral services on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Plattsburgh.

Mauricio C. León

Plattsburgh — Mauricio C. León, MD, 75, of Brookfield Manor, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born on June 10, 1925, in San Luis, Oriente Province, Cuba.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Havana School of Medicine in 1951. Dr. León began his medical practice at the Saturnino Lora Hospital in Santiago de Cuba. He practiced medicine in Cuba at the Saturnino Lora Hospital as an emergency room physician and an anesthesiologist from 1951 until 1963.

Dr. León and his family immigrated to the United States in 1964. In the United States, Dr. León was affiliated with the State Hospital in Winfield, Kan., from 1964 to 1965 before completing his American residency in anesthesiology at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kan., in 1967. He practiced anesthesiology at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Marion, Ind., from 1967 to 1968 and at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh from 1968 to 1991. In 1970, he was a founding member of Anesthesiology Associates in Plattsburgh.

Dr. León is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eugenia León; his daughter, Maria León and his son, Paul León.

Calling hours will be held at the Brown Funeral Home on Broad Street in Plattsburgh from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000. A private service will be held in Paramus, N.J.

Doris E. "Tootsie" LaDuke

West Chazy — Doris E. "Tootsie" LaDuke, 65, of the LaPlante Road, died Friday evening, Aug. 11, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

Mrs. LaDuke was born in Plattsburgh on May 13, 1935, the daughter of Felix and Mabel (Todd) LoveJoy.

She was married to Ralph LaDuke at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy in 1954; he died in 1977.

Mrs. LaDuke was a member of St. Joseph’s Church. She was a nurses aid at a hospital in New Jersey for several years and later at Sacred Heart Nursing Home in Plattsburgh for five years.

Survivors include four sons, Michael LaDuke and his wife Rachel of Ellenburg, Ralph LaDuke and his wife Susan of Mooers, Alan LaDuke and his wife Michelle and Shawn LaDuke and his fiancee Amanda Martin, all of West Chazy; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Debra) Taylor and Mrs. Shirley Bordeau and her companion Michael Sherman, all of West Chazy; five sisters, Mrs. Elijah (Melvina) Tomkiewicz, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Sorrell and Mrs. Pricilla Jubert, all of Altona, Mrs. Richard (Rosemary) Shaw of Florida and Rita LoveJoy of West Chazy; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Felix LoveJoy and Carl Avery; four sisters, Mabel LoveJoy, Eleanor Vance, Mae LaDuke and Louilla Supernaw; and a son-in-law, Wendell Bordeau, all died earlier.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, followed by burial in the parish cemetery.

Donations may be made to the LaDuke family in her memory.

Eugenia C. "Gene" Howley

Plattsburgh — Eugenia C. "Gene" Howley, 84, formerly of Lynde Street, died on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility.

She was born on March 3, 1916, in Rochester, the daughter of Eugene and Mary (Glantschnig) Scheid.

Mrs. Howley was a graduate of the University of Rochester. She was a grammar school teacher in Perry and later a production manager for Eastman Kodak.

She married Joseph Howley at the Church of St. Mary Margaret in Rochester in 1952. Mr. Howley died in 1998.

She was a member of St. John’s Church, the Mothers’ Club, the CVPH Ladies Auxiliary and the Monday Club and was an avid swimmer and golfer.

Gene and Joe are survived by two sons, Michael Howley and his wife Joan of Plattsburgh and Timothy Howley and his wife Kim of Chazy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Kacy Gardner and her husband Leonard of Chittenango and Teri Howley and her husband Thomas Sullivan of Carson City, Nev.; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brian and Evan Howley, Jennifer and Bradley Gardner and Caitlin and Shea Howley; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimers Disease Association.

Mary Ellen Sharron, 67, of Banbury Crossing, Old Saybrook, Conn., died Aug. 13, 2000, at her daughter’s home in Newtown, Conn.

She was born in Olean on Sept. 27, 1932, the daughter of the late Frank J. and Marian (Dunn) Caple Sr.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Old Saybrook, Conn. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Norwalk, Conn. at 1:30 p.m.

Mary (Evelyn) Mischenko

MINEVILLE — Mary (Evelyn) Mischenko, 72, of 20 Park St., Mineville, N.Y., died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vt.

Evelyn was born in Ticonderoga, N.Y., on Sept. 20, 1927, the daughter of Glenn and Hazel (Mattraw) Varmette.

She studied to be a licensed practical nurse in Brooklyn, N.Y., and thereafter worked at Moses-Ludington Hospital, Ticonderoga, N.Y., and the Horace Nye Home, Elizabethtown, N.Y.

She is survived by the following: Her husband, John Mischenko of Mineville; two sons, Thomas Mischenko of Schnectady and Martin Mischenko of Lewis; two brothers, Donald Varmette of Crown Point and Stanley Varmette of Virginia; three sisters, Patricia Dziuba of Clifton Park, Rhea Reynolds of Virginia and Linda Mjaatvedt of Corinth; five grandchildren, Susan, Jeni, Matthew, Amanda and John Mischenko.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at the Church of All Saints, Mineville, with Rev. Michael Toth officiating. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Port Henry, N.Y.

Mauricio C. Leon

PLATTSBURGH — Mauricio C. León, MD, 75, of Brookfield Manor, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Dr. León is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eugenia León, his daughter, Maria León and his son, Paul León.

Calling hours will be held at the Brown Funeral Home on Broad Street in Plattsburgh from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000. A private service will be held in Paramus, N.J.

Roger J. Snow Sr.

Watertown — A memorial service for Roger J. Snow Sr., 76, of Watertown, will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2000, at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks. Immediately following, graveside services will be held at Holy Name Cemetery with American Legion Post 504 conducting full military honors.

Mr. Snow died Friday, June 16, 2000, at his home. There were no calling hours.

Mr. Snow was an oil salesman for Augsbury Oil Corp. in Sackets Harbor for 20 years, retiring in 1985.

He was a member of Elks Lodge 496, American Legion Post 61 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1400, a recorder for the Media Temple Shrine of the Free and Accepted Masons in Sackets Harbor and a life member of the Marine Corps League.

Born July 20, 1923, at AuSable Forks, the son of James M. and Bessie Doyle Snow, he graduated from high school at AuSable Forks. A marriage to Joan Nye on Nov. 12, 1943, in Plattsburgh, ended in divorce in 1994.

He served in the Marine Corps from June 25, 1941, until Nov. 19, 1945, when he was discharged as a technical sergeant. He saw action at Midway and took part in the consolidation of the Soloman Islands and the Okinawa operation.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger J. Jr. and Bonnie of Attleboro, Mass. and Marvin J. of Palm Bay, Fla.; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Kathleen S. and Dennis Goltermann of Liverpool, Lynn E. Lambert of Williamsville, Ellen B. and Richard Tynan of Albion and Lisa and Tim DeSantis of Galloway, Ohio; two brothers, James of AuSable Forks and Keith of Peru; a sister, Doris Noey of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and three nieces and four nephews.

A brother, Curtis, died before him.

Philip G. Joy

Whallonsburgh — Philip G. Joy, 63, died on Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at his home.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1936, to Royal and Orilla (Bowen) Joy.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Polly (Nolette) Joy of Whallonsburgh, three daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and David Doner of Peru, Susan and Scott Bronson of Lewis and Bonnie and Shawn Finnegan of Keeseville; one son, Dennis Joy of Keeseville; three sisters, Agnes Pulsifer of Elizabethtown, Sylvia Joy of AuSable Forks and Helen Wright of Swasticka.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at W.M. Marvin’s Sons Funeral Home, in Elizabethtown. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Deerhead Cemetery in Lewis.

Plattsburgh — Mr. Floyd W. "Bink" Monty, 79, of Russell Barnard Apartments, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Rochester on July 26, 1921, the son of the late William and Stella (Badger) Monty.

Floyd was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He had worked at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill, retiring in 1985. Floyd was a member of the American Legion Post 20 Plattsburgh and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 Plattsburgh. He was an avid bowler and was a member of St. John’s Church.

He is survived by his wife, Christina "Chris" (LaBounty) Monty, whom he married Aug. 8, 1953, at St. John’s Church in Keeseville, of Plattsburgh; a son, Harold "Hal" Monty of Plattsburgh; a sister and a brother-in-law, Isabelle "Issy" and Kenneth Maxwell of Plattsburgh; two grandchildren, Rachell and Sharron; two sisters-in-law, Alma Pierce of Rogue River, Ore. and Janet Rivers of Cadyville; and several nieces and nephews.

Floyd was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Harold Monty and Kenneth Monty; and his sisters, Geraldine Monty, Geraldine Darrah and Doris Fletcher.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Keeseville. Members of the American Legion Post 20 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 are asked to meet Sunday at 7:00 p.m. for services.

Margaret L. "Peg" Seaver

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Margaret L. "Peg" Seaver, 76, of Pike St., died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility.

She was born in Syracuse on Jan. 28, 1924, the daughter of the late Carroll F. and Emma M. (Mills) Dunbar.

Margaret had been the secretary to the Commissioner of Clinton County Social Services. She was a former member of the Ladies of the Elks Plattsburgh Lodge 621 and was a member of the American Legion Post 20 Ladies Auxiliary.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. William L. Seaver, USAF, retired, of Plattsburgh, whom she married June 21, 1968, in Alburg, Vt.; a son, Louis W. Lalla of Antelope, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah I. (Lalla) and Stephen Beal of Larkspur, Calif.; a stepson, William M. Seaver of Crescent City, Calif.; and a brother, Richard M. Dunbar of Issaquah, Wash.

At Margaret’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Following cremation, entombment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Beatrice L. Riley

Peru — Beatrice L. Riley, 83, died Aug. 12, 2000, at home.

She was born in Plattsburgh on March 3, 1917, the daughter of William and Rose (D’Amour) Garrow.

She was a member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Peru.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Rose and Dan Wood of Peru, with whom she lived for the past 15 years; a daughter, Vivian and her husband, Gary LaForest of Plattsburgh; a daughter, Janice Sayward and Greg Bigelow of Willsboro; a son, Joseph Riley of Bradenton, Fla.; a daughter, Teresa and her husband, Ken Sayward of Willsboro; a goddaughter, Linda Jaquish of Willsboro; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sarah Alexander; brothers, John, Earl and Edward Garrow, all of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at St. Philip’s Church in Willsboro, on Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery beside her husband, who died in 1951.

Memorials in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 318, Memphis, TN 38101.

Doris E. LaDuke, 65 of LaPlante Road in West Chazy, died Friday evening, Aug. 11, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

Kathleen C. Mitchell, 71, of 11 Kiwassa Road in Saranac Lake, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at her home.

She was born Aug. 27, 1928, in Saranac Lake.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. at St. Bernard Church. Cremation will follow with burial in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Emely A. Raymond, age 5, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.

Born Feb. 3, 1995, in Summers Point, N.J., she is the daughter of Gary and Kathryn Perkins Raymond of Martinsburg, W.Va.

A Mass of Christian burial will be said Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at 10 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church at Inwood, W.Va., with Rev. Matthew T. Rowgh celebrating. Interment prayers will be in the Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Brown Funeral Home, 327 West King Street, Martinsburg, W.Va., on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, from 7 to 9 p.m., where a wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m.

Lawrence LaPier, 78, of Margaret Street, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Calling hours will be Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. from the Brown Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
