Norma A. Brown

Plattsburgh — Norma A. Brown, 89, of Edgewater Estates and formerly of Morrisonville, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Keene Valley on Aug. 5, 1911, the daughter of Raymond and Lena (Egglefield) Edmonds.

Norma married G. Norman Brown in 1934 in Beekmantown. She moved to Plattsburgh in 1938. Norma enjoyed music and dancing.

Mrs. Brown was a registered nurse, graduating from the 1932 nursing class at Physicians Hospital. From 1932 to 1934 she was a nurse at the Plattsburgh Army Base. Mrs. Brown was on the nursing staff and was, eventually, director of nursing at Physicians Hospital for many years. She later was director of the Clinton County Nursing Home in East Beekmantown for eight years, before retiring in 1973.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert N. Brown and his wife Donna of Kensington, Conn.; one daughter, Barbara Elliott Trautman and her husband George of Avon, Conn.; four beloved grandchildren, Robert and Kristine Brown of Kensington, Todd Elliott of Bali, Indonesia and Tracey Elliott of Del Mar, Calif.; her sister-in-law, Florence Edmonds of Keene Valley; one nephew, Travis Edmonds; and one niece, Joan Barnum.

A brother, Wilbur Edmonds, predeceased her.

There will be no public calling hours. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the CVPH Chapel.

Memorial donations in her name may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert G. Post

Plattsburgh — Robert G. Post, 58, of Cliff Haven, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at his home.

He was born in the Bronx on April 2, 1942, the son of Irving and Kathryn ( Harrington) Post.

Mr. Post attended Otterbein College in Ohio. He later served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired at the rank of Major. He was a member of the Barrack’s golf course, a member of the United Methodist Church and a former member of the Cumberland Bay Chorus.

Survivors include his wife, Susan of Plattsburgh; one daughter, Erin Post of Plattsburgh; one stepson, Jeff Dumas of Plattsburgh; one brother and sister-in-law, Irving Post and his wife Barbara of Reading, Pa.; two nieces, Michelle Datko and Suzanna Barlow; one nephew, Ethan Post; one uncle, Edward Harrington; and one aunt, Ruth Harrington, both of Ogdensburg.

Robert has requested that his remains be donated for Science to Albany Medical School. He will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held for all family and friends on Tuesday at the United Methodist Church at 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association or Hospice of the North Country.

Sarah Ann Ford, 70, of Mohican Lane on Cumberland Head, died Aug. 11, 2000, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.

She was born on June 30, 1930, in Dover, Del., the daughter of Elsie and Sarah Hill.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time with the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Jeanne Fowler LeFevre Sutch

Amsterdam — Jeanne Fowler LeFevre Sutch died at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam on Aug. 7, 2000, at age 86. Mrs. Sutch most recently resided at 15 Hewitt Street in Amsterdam.

She was born in Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 21, 1913, the daughter of Manfred Worrell LeFevre and Dorothy Cossitt (Marsh) LeFevre. Over the years, she lived in Troy, Elsmere, West Stockbridge, Mass., Delmar, Galway, and, lastly, in Amsterdam for 33 years.

She completed her education at the Elsmere School, Milne School (Albany) and Normal School for Teachers at Oneonta, where she received her teaching license. She taught at the Bethlehem Center School, Elsmere Grade School, the Bethlehem Central School District for eight years and the Scotia Glenville School District for 15 years.

She spent her retirement years visiting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad, as well as maintaining an active social and civic life.

Mrs. Sutch is survived by her son, Rev. Gerald Sutch of Willsboro and grandson Joel Sutch of Prattsville; her son, Daniel Sutch and his wife Judith of Ormond Beach, Fla. and grandchildren Dennis, Brian, Scott and Laurie; her son, Fred Sutch and his wife Susan of Galway; her son, Rodney Sutch and his wife Lovella and grandchildren Trevor and Gretchen of Knoxville, Tenn.; her sister, Margaret Roush and her husband Robert of Sebring, Fla.; also her ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Wilson Sutch, in 1958; her husband, David Shaeffer, in 1989; her brother, Daniel, in 1994; her companion, Harold Johnson, in April 2000; and her grandson, Alfred "Alfie" Sutch in March 2000.

During her lifetime Mrs. Sutch was active in Cub Scouts of America, the American Red Cross, Big Sisters of Amsterdam, the Amsterdam YMCA, the Inman Center, the Trailblazers Square Dance Club, the Galway United Methodist Church, the Amsterdam United Presbyterian Church and a volunteer in the museum and library in Amsterdam. She was a member of the Schenectady County Historical Society, the Huguenot Historical Society, the Cossitt Association, the LeFevre Association and the New York State Retired Teachers Association.

There will be no calling hours. A private graveside ceremony will be held for the family at the Galway Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on her birthday, Nov. 21, 2000. There will be a service of worship celebrating her life at the United Methodist Church on Golf Course Road at 6 p.m. followed by a reception at 15 Hewitt Street in Amsterdam.

Elizabeth J. Nels

Mineville — Elizabeth J. Nels, 80, of 491 Plank Road in Mineville, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000 at her home.

She was born on July 4, 1920, in Mineville, the daughter of John and Antoinette (Chesla) Petro.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly McCabe of Port Henry; five sons, Walter Nels of Syracuse, Edward of Rockford, Ill., John of Saranac Lake, David of Syracuse and Thomas of Mineville; her sister, Antoinette White of Westport; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Walter S. Nels, died October 3, 1991.

Calling hours will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of All Saints in Mineville, Father Michael Toth officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

Gertrude "Trudy" Lucile Jarvis

Plattsburgh — Gertrude "Trudy" Lucile Jarvis, 80, of 50 Truman Avenue, died Aug. 10, 2000, at the Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, Vt.

She was born in Rouses Point on April 14, 1920, the daughter of Jesse and Ellen (Frenya) Forgays.

Mrs. Jarvis was a member of St Peter’s Church.

She married Herbert D. Jarvis on Oct. 24, 1972. He predeceased her on Jan. 4, 1999.

Trudy was a World War II Coast Guard veteran serving in Portsmouth, N.H. Following World War II, she was employed in several downtown Plattsburgh businesses and completed her career working at Urban Renewal/Hud as a secretary for 12 years, retiring in 1974.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, William and Cindy LaWare of Williston, Vt.; one brother and sister-in-law, Francis "Frank" and Elaine Forgays of Florida; one sister, Ella Mae Weldon of Plattsburgh; and two grandchildren, Sara Donnelly LaWare and Adam Jarvis LaWare.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday in St. Peter’s Church at 9 a.m., with Rev. William Reamer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Memorial donations, in her name, may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Albert Michael Donna

Plattsburgh — Mr. Albert Michael Donna, 78, of Prospect Ave., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Sheldon, Vt., on Jan. 1, 1922, the son of Roy and Ellen (Demar) Donna.

Albert was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army from February 1941 to January 1946. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years and was a Postal Inspector in Bayshore, Long Island, Oneonta, Plattsburgh and New York City, retiring in 1973.

He was a member of and a service officer for the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). He was also a member of the Fr. Real LaBrie Knights of Columbus Council 7248 in Treadwells Mills, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 in Plattsburgh, the American Legion in St. Albans, Vt. and the National Association of Retired Postal Inspectors.

Albert is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen (Roche) Donna of Plattsburgh. They were married Aug. 27, 1946, in St. Albans, Vt. Albert also leaves four daughters and two sons-in-law; Barbara and I. John Neubauer of Lake George, Susan Bordeau of Plattsburgh, Kathleen Donna of Rutland, Vt. and Karen and Richard Conner of Fultonham. He took great pride in his four grandchildren; Michael Bordeau and his wife, Mandi of Plattsburgh, Dr. Kevin Bordeau of Norfolk, Va., Kelly and Mary Neubauer of Lake George; and his great-grandson, Dominick Michael Roger Bordeau. He leaves four sisters, two brothers-in-law, two brothers and sisters-in-law; Lillian Reed, Marguerite and James Messier, Arthur and Janet Donna, all of Sheldon, Vt., Theresa Gendreau of St. Albans, Vt., Gordon and Marjorie Donna of Burlington, Vt., Anne and James Sanderlin of Moyock, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

Albert was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Ronald Donna and Leo Paul Donna; and a son-in-law, Roger Bordeau.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in. St. Peter’s Church. Entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Mausoleum. Members of the Knights of Columbus are asked to meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home.

Harold "Shum" Shumway

AuSable Forks — Harold "Shum" Shumway, 77, of Sheldrake Road in AuSable Forks, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at his daughter’s home at Fern Lake.

He was born in Wilmington on Aug. 22, 1922, the son of Austin and Marion (Borrette) Shumway.

Shum was a veteran of World War II and an avid fisherman. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 504 of AuSable Forks and a lifetime member of the DAV of Plattsburgh. He also was weatherization director for the Committee of Economic Improvement of Elizabethtown.

Shum is survived by his wife, Marion (La Votraw) Shumway of AuSable Forks, whom he married Aug. 20, 1947, in AuSable Forks; two daughters, Sue Garcia and Jan Shumway, both of AuSable Forks; two grandsons, Jamie Garcia of AuSable Forks and Chad Garcia of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours will be Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the AuSable Forks United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Virginia Pierce officiating.

Frances E. Carpenter

Port Henry — Frances E. Carpenter, 78, of 23 Spring Street in Port Henry, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.

Frances was born on July 27, 1922, in Plattsburgh, the daughter of Edward and Adella (Boyle) Sweet.

She is survived by her husband, William H. Carpenter; her daughter, Judy C. Hundley of Vienna, Va.; her son, John E. Carpenter of Vienna, Va.; her sister, Helen Kedmenec of North Riverside, Ill,; her brother, John Sweet of Port Henry; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Moriah.

John Kowalowski

Lyon Mountain — John Kowalowski, 84, of First Street in Lyon Mountain, died Aug. 8, 2000, at CVPH Skilled Nursing in Plattsburgh.

Born April 8, 1916, in Lyon Mountain, he was the son of Thomas and Anna Opet Kowalowski Sr.

On Dec. 28, 1940, he was married to the former Anna Urban at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Witherbee by Rev. Thomas Kowalowski. She predeceased him on April 27, 2000.

Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Scott of Malone; five sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Donna Kowalowski of Lyon Mountain, Tony and Linda Kowalowski of Plattsburgh, Jim and Linda L. Kowalowski of Lyon Mountain, Charlie and Sandra Kowalowski of Plattsburgh and Peter and Laurie Kowalowski of Saranac; 15 grandchildren, Tommy Jr., Jerry, Tammie, Jim Jr., Rachel, Joe, Kate, Kyle, Nancy, Laura, Michael, Jillian and Kody Kowalowski and Meagan and Nicole Scott; a sister, Annie Chase of Lyon Mountain; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas, Walter and William Kowalowski.; a sister, Patricia Grogan and a son-in-law, Richard Scott.

Mr. Kowalowski attended Lyon Mountain High School and was employed by Republic Steel in Lyon Mountain as a machinist in the head frame operation, retiring there when the mine closed. In 1968 he worked on the air base as a certified steamfitter, then for NYS Forest Service as a fire observer for over ten years.

He was a communicant of St. Bernard’s Church in Lyon Mountain, a member of the Lyon Mountain Fire Department, active on the rescue squad and worked the firemen’s bingo for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a past member of the Lyon Mountain School Board of Education and volunteered at the Lyon Mountain Movies every Sunday evening for many years.

An active baseball fan, he played the sport until the age of 44 when he began to coach high school summer teams and the Lyon Mountain Miners. His favorite teams were the Miners and the New York Yankees. He enjoyed bowling, bingo, fishing, hunting, trapping, and picking berries.

The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday, Aug. 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lyon Mountain Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 11 at 2 p.m. in St. Bernard’s Church in Lyon Mountain. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations may be made in his memory to Lyon Mountain Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

Arrangements are through the Chateaugay Funeral Home in Chateaugay.

Corinne S. "Cosie" Cronin

Elizabethtown — Corinne S. "Cosie" Cronin , 78, formerly of Plattsburgh, died July 16, 2000, in Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, N.H. after a brief illness.

She was born in New York City on Jan. 11, 1922.

Mrs. Cronin attended Hunter College in NYC and was also one of the first trans-continental flight attendants for Pan American during the 1940's. She also worked for the American Red Cross during World War II.

Mrs. Cronin was a homemaker in Stamford, Conn. for over 20 years prior to her move to Plattsburgh in 1970. She was a founding member of St. Leo Parish in Stamford in 1961. Along with her late husband, Thomas A. Cronin, she owned and operated the Inn of the Nations in Plattsburgh from 1969 through 1974. While in Plattsburgh she was a communicant of Saint Peters Roman Catholic Church. She had resided in Elizabethtown for the past 20 years.

Mrs. Cronin supported numerous Catholic charities, churches and monasteries throughout her life. Mrs. Cronin was also a member of the Sofia Sisters singing group during World War II, performing throughout the New York City area.

Family and friends loved her for her selfless character, warm spirit, love of music and devotion to family and her church.

She was the widow of Thomas A. Cronin. The couple was married for 44 years.

Family members include six sons, Sean A. Cronin of West Hartford, Conn., Thomas Mark Cronin of Reston, Va., Denis A. Cronin of Bedford, N.H., Matthew A. Cronin of Anchorage, Alaska, Tony F. Cronin of New York City and Xavier A. Cronin of Norwalk, Conn.; and a daughter, Maria A. Cronin of Malibu, Calif. Mrs. Cronin also had 15 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Saint Elizabeth’s Church in Elizabethtown on Friday, Aug. 25 at 11 a.m.

Sheri Latrell Swartos, 55, of Seattle, Wash., died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, in Seattle, Wash.

She was born Sept. 3, 1944, in White Plains.

A memorial service took place in Mt. Vernon, Wash. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the family plot of the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ticonderoga. The Rev. Paul L. Dufford Jr. will officiate.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home in Ticonderoga.

Michael J. McGourty, 41, of Plattsburgh, died unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Born on Sept. 12, 1958, in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of Rosemary (McElroy) Greenwood of Greenfield Center and the late Edward McGourty.

A graveside service shall be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday at Greenridge Cemetery in Saratoga Springs, with the Rev. Owen Shanley, pastor of the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Corinth, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Densmore Funeral Home in Corinth.

Charles H. Nelson, 83, of the Forge in Brainardsville, died Aug. 8, 2000, at Genesis Healthcare in Watertown, where he had been a patient since September 1999.

Born July 28, 1917, in Lyon Mountain, he was the son of Charles and Mabel Jacque Nelson.

Calling hours will be Thursday, Aug. 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Chateaugay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 11 in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m., with Rev. Eleanor Bellows officiating. Burial will take place in Lyon Mountain Protestant Cemetery.

Lois (Merrihew) Brough

Plattsburgh — Lois (Merrihew) Brough, 74, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at her home.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 25, 1925, daughter of George and Irene (Furlong) Merrihew.

Lois was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School. She had been employed by New York Telephone and St. Peter's Church.

Lois is survived by her husband, Floyd F. Brough, whom she married on April 6, 1953, in St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kevin and Colleen Brough of Ganesvoort and Stephen Brough of Merrimack, N.H.; one granddaughter, Ashley Brough; and several nieces and nephews.

Lois was predeceased by three brothers, Harold Merrihew, George Merrihew and Fred Merrihew.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of the North Country, 386 Rugar Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.

Vincent J. Lobdell

Redford — Vincent J. "Vince" Lobdell, 83, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Saranac on April 25, 1917, the son of Harvey and Mabel (Napper) Lobdell.

He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of Local 186 Laborers Union of Plattsburgh and last worked for Bluff Point Country Club. He was a member of the Assumption of Mary Church in Redford.

He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Farrell; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick "Vernon" and Barbara Romeo of Redford; four sisters, Vesta Sullivan of Cadyville, Irene Esser of Hudson Falls, Jean Coryer of Saranac and Patricia Lobdell of Churubusco; a sister-in-law, Mildred Lobdell of Willsboro; nine grandchildren, Patrick II, Barbara, Melinda and Norlene Romeo of Redford, Pat and Rebecca Romeo of Vermontville, Bruce and Maureen Romeo of Redford and Derrick Romeo of Vermontville; two great-grandchildren, Maryssa and Cassidy Romeo of Vermontville; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, two brothers, Spencer and his twin brother Victor and a sister, Nettie Lobdell, all died earlier.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Assumption of Mary School Endowment Fund.

Imre I. Pinter

New Russia — Imre I. Pinter, 62, of Roaring Brook Road, died on Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at his home.

He was born in Budapest, Hungary, on Oct. 11, 1937, to Jozef and Antonia (Feher) Pinter.

As a young adult, he escaped the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, when he fled to France and Germany and worked door-to-door to survive. He was a classical violinest and an outdoor enthusiast. He was a strong member of the Baha'i faith. He served in both the Hungarian and U.S. Army and was a skydiver.

He is survived by his wife, Marlie Baker Pinter of New Russia; one son, Richard Pinter of New Russia; one daughter, Rachelle Pinter of New Mexico; a brother, Bela Pinter of Florida; and a sister, Gizella Veres of Budapest, Hungary.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 3 p.m. at W.M. Marvins Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery in Elizabethtown.

Donations may be made to a charity of your choice in his memory.

Gilles Asselin, 59, of St. Regis Falls, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, after being stricken at his home.

He was born in Montreal, Quebec, on Aug. 7, 1941, the son of the late Raoul and Pauline (LaLane) Asselin.

There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the St. Gregorie Cemetery in Beauport, Quebec.

Donations may be made to the St. Regis Falls Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

Arrangements are through the Anderson Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.

Margery Purcell, of Willsboro, died on Friday, Aug. 4, 2000.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at St. John’s Church in Essex.

George T. Mickalonis

MECHANICVILLE — George T. Mickalonis, 84, longtime resident of Champlain Ave., Riverside, died Saturday at Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt.

Born in Riverside on May 30, 1916, he was the son of the late George and Anna Marcinkiewicz Mickalonis.

Mr. Mickalonis was a foreman of small engine and generator department at the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for many years, retiring in 1973.

He was a charter member of the Riverside Fire Department, a former Justice of the Peace for the Town of Stillwater, former president of the Lithuanian Society in this area, and a former active member of the Town of Stillwater Democratic Club. Mr. Mickalonis enjoyed gardening and was a die-hard Atlanta Braves baseball fan.

His wife Theresa Spickler Mickalonis died on Jan. 21, 1986.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Andrew MacRae of Plattsburgh; two granddaughters, Rana L. Huber of Oneonta and Rory E. MacRae of Plattsburgh; a sister, Victoria Stoliaroff of Stillwater and a brother John Mickalonis of Ocala, Fla; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mickalonis was predeceased by brothers Dominick, Joseph, Anthony, and Bernard Mickalonis and sisters Mary Anusesky and Rose Pozniakas.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Assumption-St. Paul North Main Street Church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

BEN EVERETT SHARP SR., 81, of Cary Road in Mechanicville, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at his residence following a long illness.

A wake will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home in Clifton Park.

A funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:15 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church in Ushers at 9 a.m.

Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margery E. Purcell

Willsboro — Margery E. Purcell, 74, of Farrell Rd. in Willsboro, died at the Elizabethtown Hospital on Friday, Aug. 4, 2000.

She was born in New York City on May 5, 1926, the daughter of Walter and Elsie (Olbert) Halden.

She and her husband, James, have been summer residents of Willsboro for 52 years. Having raised their children in Connecticut, they moved to Fort Myers, Fla., after Jim retired from the New York Times in 1982.

She was a member of St. John’s Episcopalian Church in Essex.

Mrs. Purcell is survived by a daughter, Jean Walter of Laurinberg, N.C.; a son, Thomas and his wife, Mei, of Norman, Okla.; a son, James and his wife, Susan, of Wilmington, Del.; a son, Dennis and his wife, Holly, of Terrace Park, Ohio; a sister, Jean Robinson of Vienna, Va.; a brother, Walter Halden of Brooklyn; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Church in Essex on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. John’s Church in Essex or the Willsboro Rescue Squad.

The Huestis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pattison — A memorial service will be held for Helen P. Pattison, a former resident of Westport, who died on June 27, 2000, in Palm Harbor, Fla.

It will take place at the Westport Federated Church on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at 1 p.m. Georgianna Anson will officiate. There will be a reception afterwards at the home of Emily Dodge to which all are welcome.

Mary L. Demers, age 89, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born on Oct. 28, 1910, the daughter of Archie Longtin and Mary Mesick.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be said on Monday, Aug. 7, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Mooers Forks.

David F. "Pete" Lagoy, 79, of the Robert S. Long Apartments, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Chicopee, Mass., on Dec. 3, 1920, the son of Harry and Mabel (Latour) Lagoy.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Lagoy, on Jan. 5, 1997.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
