Mary Frances Fitzgerald St. Maxens

Champlain — Mary Frances Fitzgerald St. Maxens, 97, of 5 Main Street in Champlain, died Thursday, July 13, 2000, at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Greenwich, Conn., on Sept. 11, 1902, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Cooke) Fitzgerald.

Her husband, Ferdinand St. Maxens, passed away Dec. 6, 1970. Frances lived in Chazy and Champlain, since moving here in 1914.

She played the piano beautifully and accompanied the young Catholic Daughters, High School graduations and Glee Clubs. She was a charter member of the Champlain Literary Club beginning in 1923. From 1935 until 1951 she served as secretary of the Clinton County Chapter of the American Red Cross. She received many honors including Queen of the Winter Carnival in 1984, Alumnus of the Year of Chazy Central Rural School in 1986 and Grand Marshall of the Memorial Day Parade in 1990. She received a 1996 letter of appreciation from the Village of Champlain stating "Because of your tireless efforts and enthusiam you helped make Champlain a better place to live."

Mrs. St. Maxens is survived by five grandchildren, Thomas L. Elmore of Asheville, N.C., Thomas F. St. Maxens of Washington, D.C., Susan E. Childs of Knoxville, Tenn., Timothy K. St. Maxens of Maryland and Meg S. Schweitzer of Loveland, Colo.

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain. Rev. Donald Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to St. Mary’s Church in Champlain or the Friends of the Champlain Memorial Library.

Deborah M. Fraley

Santee, Calif. — Deborah M. Fraley of 9518 Hallbers Blvd. in Santee, Calif., died July 12, 2000, at her home.

She was born in Plattsburgh, Dec. 6, 1953. She is the daughter of Bernard and Joan (Lushia) Comstock Sr.

Survivors include her husband, Allen Fraley; three sons, Gary Boyd Jr., James Boyd of Washington and Scott Boyd of Texas; two brothers, Bernard Comstock Jr. of Plattsburgh and Brian Comstock of Washington; five sisters, Mrs. Frederick (Katherine) Parent Sr. of Morrisonville, Mrs. Richard (Tammy) Thomson, Mrs. Kurt (Heather) Dore, all of Washington and Mrs. Kelly (Nancy) Hermann of California; and seven grandchildren.

She is predeceased by one brother, John Comstock of Plattsburgh, who died in 1975.

She was cremated and a memorial service will be held on July 16, 2000, in Santee, Calif.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.

Elizabeth "Betty" J. Tatro, 74, of 70 Sawyer Ave. in Malone, died Friday morning, July 14, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. She had been a patient there since July 12.

Born in Syracuse on Dec. 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Viola (Yando) Supernault.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

Eugene R. Rabideau

Mooers — Eugene R. Rabideau, 85, died Monday, July 10, 2000, at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point.

He was born in Mooers Forks on Aug. 5, 1914, the son of Alexander and Lelah (Fisher Poissant) Rabideau.

Gene was a man of many talents. He was a bus driver and a farm equipment mechanic for Ralph Lamberton and Dragoon’s Farm Equipment until the age of 75. He also was a beekeeper, an electrician, an avid gardener and horseshoe player, barber and carpenter. He created many grapevine wreaths and baskets which are still enjoyed by many family members and friends. He was always ready and able to help anyone in need. Gene was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a Republican Committee member.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Audrey Rabideau of Mooers; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Ronald Munnik of Rouses Point, Gloria and Anthony Brown of Ruther Glen, Va. and Dianne and Philip LaBombard of Mooers; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Rene and Marcella Rabideau of Mooers, Gilbert and Shirley Rabideau of Mooers Forks and Donald and Norma Rabideau of Mooers; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Irene Premo of Cohoes, Cecile and Donald LaPierre of Mooers and Beatrice and Emile Tetreault of Baldwinsville; and two sisters-in-law, Theresa Rabideau of Champlain and Clara Rabideau of Mooers Forks; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his wife Beatrice, who died Aug. 18, 1998; his parents, Alex and Lelah Rabideau; his brothers, "Little Alex", Hector, Philip and Raymond; and one grandson.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, July 13, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at E.F. Drown Funeral Services in Mooers. The 4th degree K of C will meet at 7 p.m. for ritualistic services at the funeral home. The 3rd degree K of C will meet at 7:30 p.m. for ritualistic services. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 14, 2000, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Mooers Rescue Squad or the Mooers Senior Housing.

Beatrice A. Brodi

Plattsburgh — Beatrice A. Brodi, 80, of Bridge St., died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 5, 1920, the daughter of the late Arsene and Helen (Guavin) Tremblay.

Bea was the owner and operator of Brodi's Bar & Grill, the Chicken Coop in Rouses Point and the Office Bar on Bridge St. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church.

Bea is survived by her husband, Michael S. Brodi of Plattsburgh; two sons, Arsene "Mike" Brodi of Plattsburgh and Stephen Brodi of Plattsburgh; a daughter, Janice Brodi of Florida; a sister, Jean Thomas of Vermont; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Helen Brodi; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Brodi.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 17, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, with the Rev. Floyd "Jerry" Bleaux, pastor, celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Caroline B. Lagree Gray

Malone — Caroline B. Lagree Gray, 90, of Burke, died this morning, July 13, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Nursing Home.

Born July 4, 1910, in Churubusco, she was the daughter of Peter and Rose (Recore) Lagree,

Mrs. Gray attended rural schools in Churubusco and Chateaugay High School.

She married Thomas A. Gray in St. Philomena’s Rectory in Churubusco on Dec. 27, 1929. He predeceased her on April 23, 1983.

Mr. and Mrs. Gray owned and operated a dairy farm on the Jamieson Line Road in Burke for many years, moving to Malone in 1964. Mrs. Gray was employed by the Alice Hyde Hospital for 11 years, retiring in 1978.

She was a member of the Burke Adult Center and a communicant of St. George’s Church in Burke.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs, Noel (Janet) Basiliere of Burke; her son and daughter-in-law, William and Sally Gray of Bel Air, Md.; one sister, Mrs. Alice Silver of Chateaugay; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband; a daughter, Jean Palmer (1967); four brothers, Arthur, James, Wallace and George Lagree; and a sister, Betty Thaw.

Friends and family may call at the Spaulding Funeral Home Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, July 15, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart Church in Churubusco. Interment will be in the Morningside Cemetery in Malone.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Burke Fire and Rescue or the Burke Adult Center.

Arrangements are by the Spaulding Funeral Home of Malone.

Sven Johnson, 75, of Route 86 in Wilmington, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Sven was born in New York City on Sept. 2, 1924.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 15, at 7 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks. Burial will be at a later date in Pleasant View Cemetery in Wilmington at the convenience of the family.

George E. Besaw Sr., 77, of Vermontville, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

He was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Ray Brook.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Vermontville.

Peryea — A memorial service will be held for Rhoda R. Peryea at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2000, at the Plattsburgh Church of the Nazarene on Broad Street. The Reverend Wendle Lahr will officiate. Interment will be in the Schuyler Falls Cemetery on Felton Road following the service.

Lawrence P. Bedore

Morrisonville — Lawrence P. Bedore, 71, of 28 Pine Ridge Drive in Morrisonville, died on Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 3, 1928, the son of Philip and Jennie (Brousseau) Bedard.

Lawrence graduated from Sallaz Academy in Redford in June of 1945. Following his graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. As a pilot, his career included tours of duty in Okinawa, Labrador and Thailand, where he flew helicopter rescue missions into Vietnam.

Lawrence married the former D. Fay Young of Elizabethtown, Pa., on Aug. 17, 1958. They have one daughter, Yvonne, also of Morrisonville.

After his retirement from the Air Force with the rank of Major, Lawrence made his home in Washington, D.C. and attended the University of Maryland, where he obtained his degree in business adminstration and transportation. Subsequently, he was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration until his retirement, after which Lawrence moved with his family back to his "roots" and made his home in Morrisonville

Since moving back to this area, Lawrence has been very active in work with the Advocacy Resource Center. He is a past member of the board of directors serving on the Finance Committee and the Building Committee. He is presently a member of the board of directors of the Retardation Services, Inc. The Bedores were the recipients of the "Good Neighbor Award" in 1994 in appreciation of their generosity in the donation of the property on Pine Ridge Drive, which now houses a residence for six adults. The residence was dedicated to the Bedore family in September 1994. They are also on the "Wall of Friends" in recognition of their many charities.

Besides his wife and daughter, Lawrence is survived by eight sisters, Mrs. Earl "Nora" Pinkman of Plattsburgh, Mrs. Melvin "Theresa" Bruno of Morrisonville, Mrs. John "Euna" Liberty of Fern Lake, Mrs. Tommy "Ellen" Coates of Morrisonville, Mrs. Andrew "Jennie" Tomasi of Barre, Vt., Mrs. Randy "Sally" Gibson of Peru, Miss Judy Bedard of Willsboro and Mrs. Robert "Phyllis" Owens of Falls Church, Va.; also three brothers, Ernest of Harkness, Philip of Jay and Roy "Chuck" of Schuyler Falls.

A brother, Edmund and a sister, Alice predeceased him.

In accordance with the wishes of the deceased, all services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Mary L. "Lucy" Daniels

Beekmantown — Mrs. Mary L. "Lucy" Daniels, 80, of the Seymour Road, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh on April 16, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Scott) Rivers.

She and her family owned and operated a dairy farm on the Seymour Road from 1936. Mary enjoyed bingo, needlepoint, reading and was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Joseph P. Daniels and Herbert Stacey; and a son, Vernon Rivers.

Mary is survived by her children, Thomas Daniels and his wife Nancy, Annette Ferguson and her husband Chris, Herbert Stacy and his wife Sally and Dawn "Dolly" Pratt, all of West Chazy; stepchildren, Austin and Julia Jubert of Altona, Robert and Maude Daniels of Chazy, Armand and Mary Ellen Daniels and Arthur and Anne Marie Daniels, both of West Chazy; brothers, Henry Joseph Rivers, who was her partner in the farm and shared residence at the farm since 1936, Robert Rivers and his wife Thelma and Lawrence Rivers and his wife Delores, all of West Chazy; a sister, Alice Turner, also of West Chazy; 13 grandchildren; 22 stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Brodi — A burial Mass for Beatrice A. Brodi will be held at OLVA on Monday, July 17, 2000, at 11 a.m. Following the Mass, a burial service will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery for Beatrice and Donna Brodi.

Mrs. Pearl A. Harrison, 75, of the Wallace Hill Road in Plattsburgh, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh on May 1, 1925, the daughter of William and Florence (Coon) Bushey.

There will be no calling hours. Following cremation, interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh at the convenience of the family.

Beverly Ann Patzelt, 46, of Independence Drive in Plattsburgh, died Monday, July 10, 2000, at her home.

She was born in Hartford, Conn., on June 10, 1954.

A funeral service will be held Friday, July 14, 2000, at 7:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsburgh, with Rev. William Reamer, chaplain at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, officiating.

Edmund J. Rouselle, 82, of 50 Mill Street in Malone, died Wednesday morning, July 12, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. He had been a patient there since July 8.

Born in North Burke on Jan. 7, 1918, he was the son of the late Edward and Josephine (Duquette) Rouselle.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in St. Augustine’s Cemetery in North Bangor.

Breckinridge Chapin, 67, of the Harrietstown Rd. in Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at his home.

He was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Central Square.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake.

Charles John Juricek

Jay — Charles John Juricek, 43 years of age, died at home of cirrhosis of the liver. He was being treated for his condition at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Charles John was born on June 26, 1957, in Manhattan. He is the son of Charles and Libuse Juricek.

Charles attended primary school and high school on Long Island. He graduated from Half Hollow Hills High School in 1975. He was very well liked both by his teachers and classmates. At school he excelled in sports, namely soccer and hockey as well as running. He received the President’s Fitness Award.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting in the highlands of Canada, as well as catching trout in the AuSable River as well as in the region’s many beautiful lakes. He was also a very good gardener who enjoyed cultivating a vegetable garden every spring and summer. He spent many autumns splitting and preparing wood for the winter months. Carpentry and cooking were also his hobbies.

Charles served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1978 until 1982. He graduated from Parris Island, S.C. and then went on to Camp Lejeune, N.C., as well as serving in Okinawa, Japan. He received top honors as an expert marksman and was recommended for Officer’s Training School. He studied and worked in the field of communications while in the Marine Corps.

After serving in the Marine Corps, Charles worked at the GTE Sylvania Plant in Portsmouth, N.H. and building fiberglass boats at the S2 Yachts in Fort Pierce, Fla.

Charles studied computer sciences in Berlin, Germany, where he learned to speak and write fluent German and obtained his degree in computer technology upon graduation.

He worked a few winters at Whiteface Mountain and at Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Wilmington.

Charles is survived by his sister, Maria Harris; a brother-in-law, David Harris; and niece, Catherine Harris. He is also survived by cousins and an uncle residing in Canada as well as relatives in Europe.

There will be a memorial service at The Holy Name Church in AuSable Forks, with Rev. Father Bruce Favreau officiating, on July 17, 2000, at 10 a.m.

Zaumetzer-Sprague is handling arrangements.

Daniel L. Padula

Ticonderoga — Daniel L. Padula, 47, of 349 Amherst Ave. in Ticonderoga, died unexpectedly on July 10, 2000, at the Moses Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga.

He was born in Brooklyn on July 21, 1952, the son of Francis and Domenica (Lucarello) Padula.

Mr. Padula was a physicians assistant at Moses Ludington Hospital and the Mineville Health Center. He also worked in other hospital emergency rooms throughout the Adirondacks. He currently served as president of the Adirondack Physicians Association.

He was a veteran, having served in the Army and specifically, Germany, from 1972 to 1975.

He currently was the Town of Ticonderoga’s Health Officer. He was the captain of the Ticonderoga Emergency Squad as well as serving as the Squad’s medical director.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Ticonderoga and he was a member of St. Issac Joques K of C Council 333.

Besides his parents, Mr. Padula is survived by his wife, the former Maureen McKenna; one son, Gerard Padula and one daughter, Lisbeth Padula, both of Ticonderoga; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dominic and Janice Padula of Plattsburgh, Ronald and Patricia Padula of Neola, Pa. and Francis and Trish Padula of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Ronald Hoenig of Seaford; several aunts and uncles; and also several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Connery & Gunning Funeral Home in Ticonderoga on Thursday, July 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Ticonderoga Knights of Columbus will meet at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 8 p.m. for the observance of a traditional Catholic Wake Service. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2000, at St Mary’s Church in Ticonderoga, the Rev. William Muench officiating. Members of the Ticonderoga Emergency Squad will serve as bearers. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.

Lorraine V. Lewis, 55, of 42 Greenbush Str. in Cortland, died Monday, July 10, 2000, at the Cortland Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient there since Dec. 20, 1999.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, April 29, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Georgianna May Laurin Lewis.

There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Herdman, Quebec.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service of Malone.

Raymond J. Pierce

CROWN POINT— Raymond J. Pierce, DVM., (89) of Creek Road, Crown Point, N.Y., died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vt..

Dr. Pierce was born on August 29, 1910, in Wadhams, N.Y., the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Close) Pierce.

He graduated in 1935 from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., with a degree in veterinary medicine, and, thereafter, practiced in Crown Point and the surrounding area for 58 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Weeks) Pierce.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 11, 2000 at 1:00 p.m., at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Crown Point, N.Y.

Peter Derek Titherington

PLATTSBURGH — Peter Derek Titherington, 64, of Prospect Avenue, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 8, 2000, at his home. He was born in Liverpool, England, on July 11, 1935, son of William Edward and Eunice (Roberts) Titherington.

Derek was a veteran of the British Army serving in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineering Corp. He emigrated from England in 1962 to Montreal, Canada and again in 1970 to the United States. Derek was a major contributor to the start-up and success of Mold-Rite Plastics, concentrating in mold making and design, contributing to the success of the company. At the time of his death he was the technical service manager at Mold-Rite Plastics. Derek enjoyed golf, kayaking, spending winters in Florida, following British soccer and was an avid traveler.

Derek is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, the former Muriel Davis of Plattsburgh. They were married in Liverpool, England in 1958. He is also survived by a son, Philip Derek Titherington of Valcour, a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Joseph Casey of Plattsburgh, two brothers, William Titherington of Plattsburgh, Geoffrey Titherington of Plattsburgh, one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and George Syniski of Buxton, England, three grandchildren, Chelsey Marie Titherington, Chase Derek Titherington and Carlee Ryan Casey, and many nieces and nephews residing in England, the US, and Australia.

Derek was pre-deceased by a sister-in-law, Barbara Hessey of Liverpool, England, and his uncle, William Roberts of Prestatyn, Wales.

Derek will be sadly missed by everyone and loved by all.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 12, 2000 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh.

Donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.

James E. Adams

MORRISONVILLE — James E. Adams, 76, of the Soper Rd., died Friday, July 7, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Watauga County, North Carolina, the son of Frank and Gertrude (Tester) Adams.

He served in the United States Army Air Corp. during World War II, having served in Korea and Normandy.

Mr. Adams was a truck driver, he owned and operated various restaurants including A and N, and the Campus Corner. He was a police officer with the City of Plattsburgh, and in Virginia for a time. Most recently he was the Postmaster for Morrisonville having retired following several years of service.

He was a member of the Peru Veterans of Foreign Wars # 309, and the American Legion # 1619 in West Plattsburgh.

Survivors include his wife, the former Nellie Durgan of Plattsburgh; two sons, James E. "Butch" Adams II of Maryland, and Edward H. Adams of Morrisonville; three brothers, Dwight of South Dakota, John of Memphis, Tennessee, and Ralph of Florida; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Joan F. Adams; and one sister, Catherine.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 14, 2000, at 1:00 p.m. at the Peasleeville Cemetery. A reception will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Peru VFW Post 309.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

Arrangements are with Lester E. Thew Funeral Home.

Daniel L. Dumas, 35, of La Veta Terrace in Los Angeles, Calif., and formerly of Malone, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, in Los Angeles.

He was born in Malone on Oct. 27, 1964, the son of Paul and Sandra (Tatro) Dumas.

There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in Malone,

Donald "Rocky" Rawson, 72, formerly of Rouses Point, died July 7, 2000, in Reseda, Calif.

He was born Aug. 11, 1927, the son of Addison and Martha Rawson.

A private funeral is being held in California with burial at the Veteran's Cemetery in California.

John L. Faucher, 68, of East Hatfield Street in Massena, died on July 9, 2000, at Massena Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Massena on Jan. 23, 1932, the son of Joseph and Rose (Chartier) Faucher.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews Street, in Massena. The Massena Elks Lodge BPOE 1702 will pay their respects at 7:15 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus Council 1142 will pay their respects at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart, with Rev. Donald J. Manfred officiating. Burial will be in St. Anne’s Cemetery in Mooers Forks.

Raymond J. Pierce

CROWN POINT— Raymond J. Pierce, DVM., (89) of Creek Road, Crown Point, N.Y., died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vt..

Dr. Pierce was born on August 29, 1910, in Wadhams, N.Y., the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Close) Pierce.

He graduated in 1935 from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., with a degree in veterinary medicine, and, thereafter, practiced in Crown Point and the surrounding area for 58 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Weeks) Pierce.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 11, 2000 at 1:00 p.m., at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Crown Point, N.Y.

Peter Derek Titherington

PLATTSBURGH — Peter Derek Titherington, 64, of Prospect Avenue, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 8, 2000, at his home. He was born in Liverpool, England, on July 11, 1935, son of William Edward and Eunice (Roberts) Titherington.

Derek was a veteran of the British Army serving in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineering Corp. He emigrated from England in 1962 to Montreal, Canada and again in 1970 to the United States. Derek was a major contributor to the start-up and success of Mold-Rite Plastics, concentrating in mold making and design, contributing to the success of the company. At the time of his death he was the technical service manager at Mold-Rite Plastics. Derek enjoyed golf, kayaking, spending winters in Florida, following British soccer and was an avid traveler.

Derek is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, the former Muriel Davis of Plattsburgh. They were married in Liverpool, England in 1958. Edward Hicks

Chazy — Mr. Edward Hicks, 66, of Route 9, died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born in Champlain on Dec. 1, 1933, the son of the late Fred and Alice (Dupont) Hicks.

Edward served his country for 10 years, serving two years in Vietnam. He retired in 1996 from Wyeth-Ayerst Labs after 33 years of service and was currently driving school bus for Chazy Central School. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his wife, the former Kelly Fellion, whom he married on May 18, 1985, at their home; one daughter and a son-in-law, Barbara and Randy Poupore of Champlain; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Edward and Debbie Hicks of Champlain, Donald and Liz Hicks of Champlain and Kevin and Marcie Hicks of Champlain; one stepdaughter, Heather Lancto of Chazy; one sister and a brother-in-law, Doris and Herb Johnson of Round Lake, two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert and Martha Hicks of Champlain and Ronald and Eileen Hicks of Orlando, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by an infant brother, Donald Hicks.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at 11 a.m. from Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

Linda T. Felline, 50, of the Essex County ARC Home in Moriah Center, died Friday, July 7, 2000, at the home.

Linda was born on Dec. 1, 1949, in New York City, the daughter of Gregory and Julia (Crane) Felline.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at St Patrick's Church in Port Henry. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Moriah.
