Hubert C. Downs

Cadyville — Hubert C. Downs, 79, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at his residence, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

He was born in Saranac on Oct. 17, 1920, the son of Hubert Charles and Dora Mae (Clancy) Downs.

He was a farmer for several years and drove a milk truck for the Dairyman's League in Peru. He later was employed at Saranac Central School, where he retired after 19 years of service. He was a member of St. James Church in Cadyville. He enjoyed camping, gardening, bird watching and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, the former Ann Smith of Cadyville; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Gary and June Downs of Rexford, John and Norma Downs of Chazy, Bill Downs of Plattsburgh and Ray and Carol Downs of Whitehall; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Barbara and Frank LeClair of Cadyville, Peggy and Danny Guynup of Cadyville, Janice and Donny Wood of Schuyler Falls, Mary Lou Moore and Peter Duquette of Plattsburgh and Betty Jean and Bernie Bassett of Morrisonville; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Dennis and Ruth Downs of Deltona, Fla., Dan and Marian Downs of Plattsburgh, James Downs of West Chazy and John and Mary Rita Downs of Plattsburgh; 17 grandchildren, Benjamin and Rebecca Downs, Kelly LeClair, Shawn, John and Laurie Downs, Danielle Downs, Nathan, Christopher and Elissa Guynup, Dennis and Darren Downs, Matthew and Lindsey Moore, Angel, Jessica and Adam Bassett; and many nieces and nephews.

His parents and a brother, Robert died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday from St. James Church in Cadyville. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country or a charity of one's choice.

Noel B. Quintal, 29, of South Williams Street in Malone, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Fletcher-Allen Medical Center. He was born on Aug. 31, 1970, in Malone, the son of James M. And Starr (Dufore) Quintal.

Calling hours will be Monday, April 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 18, at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church. Burial will take place in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Constable.

Rita Brunet

Cornwall, Ontario — Mrs. Rita Lucette Brunet, 72, died on Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at the Versa Care Centre in Cornwall, Ontario.

Rita Lucette Brunet (nee Bertrand) lived in Cornwall, Ontario and was formerly of Ellenburg.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Maurice Brunet of Ellenburg; her dearly loved children, Gilles (Nancy) of Malone, Ronald (Betty) of Ellenburg, Dale (Darlene) of Ellenburg, Claude of Plattsburgh, Carol (Mike Bechard) of Champlain and Steven (Candy) of Ellenburg Depot; her dear sister, Marcel Bertrand (Doris) of New Jersey; and 12 grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Albani Bertrand and Beatrice Houle; and by one sister, Pauline Brunet (Emile Brunet) of Cornwall.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Brownlee Funeral Home on Maple Street in Ingleside, Ontario, on Friday, April 14, 2000, from 6 to 10 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection with commendation and farewell will be celebrated in St. Edmond’s Roman Catholic Church in Ellenburg on Saturday, April 15, 2000, at 2 p.m. Call 613-537-8376 for directions to the Brownlee Funeral Home.

Sophia M. Ledger, 100, of 56 Howard Ave. in Malone, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone. She had been a resident there since 1989.

Mrs. Beatrice M. Rushford

Saranac — Mrs. Beatrice M. Rushford, 93, of Ryan Road, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Chazy on Sept. 17, 1906, the daughter of Frank and Delia (Lucia) Bell.

Beatrice enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She was the widow of William Rushford, who died in 1974. Beatrice had worked at Diamond International for 21 years.

She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Eulala and Donald Drollette of Saranac, Belva Forkey of Plattsburgh and Shirley Caldwell of Manchester, N.H.; a son, Harold Corron of Milford, N.H.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Bell and two sisters, Florence Duncan and Jennie Garrow.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery.

Kerry R. MacDougal

ELIZABETHTOWN — Kerry R. MacDougal, age 43, died peacefully, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at the Fletcher Allen Health Center in Burlington, Vt.

He was born on Oct. 3, 1956, to Douglas and Carolyn (Gauthier) MacDougal.

He attended Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School until 11th grade, then he moved to Oswego where he graduated in 1973. He moved back to Elizabethtown and worked for Ernie Girard for several years at Ernie’s Market and the Westport Liquor Store. He eventually bought the liquor store from Ernie and operated it until buying the Boquet Liquor Shop in Elizabethtown, which he ran until his death. He enjoyed coin collecting, fishing, music and baseball. He was an avid Mets fan.

He Is survived by his mother and stepfather, Carolyn and James Duplessis of Oswego; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Terry and Francine MacDougal of Elizabethtown and Larry MacDougal of Elizabethtown; two stepbrothers, Michael and Mark Duplessis of Oswego; one stepsister, Michele Torbitt of Oswego; three nieces, Melissa Woodard of Ballston Lake, Tara MacDougal of Smyrna, Ga. and Rachel MacDougal of Beekmantown; one nephew, Douglas MacDougal of Elizabethtown; one great-aunt, Jennie Mitchell of Elizabethtown; one aunt, Genie Smith of Albany; one uncle, Stanley MacDougal of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Douglas MacDougal, in May of 1969.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at W.M. Marvin’s Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Elizabethtown. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

William D. Frenyea

Garfield, N.J. — William D. Frenyea, 48, of Garfield, N.J., died Wednesday, April 12, 2000.

He was the beloved son of Ruth Frenyea LaPier and stepson of Roland LaPier.

William was Director of Food Service Management at the Allendale Nursing Home for many years. Bill's avid hobbies included gardening and traveling.

He is survived by his brother and sisters, Robert, Douglas, Joel, Ann Carter, Amy Arquette and Lawrence DeMarco; and several nieces and nephews.

He was precedeased by his father, Harold J. Frenyea, in 1961.

A funeral service will be held at the C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood on Saturday, April 15, 2000, at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, April 14, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J.

Gordon Herbert Garrow

Plattsburgh — Gordon Herbert Garrow, 79, of Palmer Street, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Dannemora on Feb. 16, 1921, the son of Silas and Eva (Wemette) Garrow.

Gordon had attended Plattsburgh High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. Gordon was the owner and operator of Garrow Oil Co. in Plattsburgh. He was a member of the American Legion Post 20 in Plattsburgh, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 in Plattsburgh and a member of the Plattsburgh Lodge of Elks 621. Gordon was active in American Legion baseball. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh.

On Feb. 5, 1944, at the Methodist Church on Court Street in Plattsburgh, Gordon married Helen Berquist. She predeceased him on March 24, 1998.

He is survived by his two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan and Richard Dandrow of Plattsburgh and Cynthia Garrow of Glens Falls; a sister, Dorothy Camp of Plattsburgh; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Carolyn Garrow of Plattsburgh; two granddaughters, Keri Gadbois and Julie Dandrow-Reidy; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Emily and Hayden; and several nieces and nephews.

Gordon was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Garrow and Donald Garrow.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Members of the American Legion Post 20 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 will meet on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Virgil J. Jubert

West Chazy — Virgil J. Jubert, 77, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in West Chazy on Aug. 18, 1922, the son of Jeddie and Bertha (Pombrio) Jubert.

He was a dairy farmer for over 55 years and was awarded the "Dairy of Distinction" award. He was a member of St. Louis de France Church and a former member of the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge 621. He was a member of the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service and was an Agricultural Community committeeman. He served as a flight engineer on B-24 bombers during World War II.

He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Melody Eichler of West Chazy and Holly and Richard Castine Jr. of West Chazy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald and Sherry Jubert of West Chazy and Paul Jubert of Calif.; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Vivan Jubert of Conn., Vincent and Dorothy Jubert of Plattsburgh, Victor and Teresa Jubert of Plattsburgh, Vernon and Millie Jubert of Plattsburgh and Pauline Rock of Keeseville; six grandchildren, Shawn Eichler, Marni Filion, Chris Jubert, Nicole Sterling and Pete and Mike Castine; and two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Jonathan Filion.

His wife, Joy, died on Feb. 4, 1995. A sister, Viola Snow, and a son-in-law, John Eichler, also died before him.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday from St. Louis de France Church in Sciota. Burial will be in the Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.

Tyler W. Gray

PLATTSBURGH — Tyler W. Gray, 86, of Algonquin Park Road on Cumberland Head, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at his home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on March 28, 1914, the son of Elmer and Aurora (Bouvier) Gray.

He married Marian K. McCurry in Fort Edward on June 21, 1938. Mrs. Gray died Sept. 3, 1995.

Mr. Gray was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church. He belonged to the Boy Scouts of America and was one of the two first Eagle Scouts in Clinton County. Tyler worked at the Dannemora prison for ten years and later worked for 30 years as a professional engineer on Long Island, retiring in 1972 from the NYS Office of General Services.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tyler and Lesley Gray of Bloomington, Ill. and James and Marlene Gray of Latham; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Thomas Fleming of Cumberland Head, Susan and John Morrison of Brightwaters and Nancy and Jay Fischer of Watertown, Conn. and Cumberland Head; one sister, Evangeline Payson of Plattsburgh; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

One great-grandchild, Matthew Tyler Brault, died Dec. 30, 1991.

There will be no public calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2000, at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery followed by a reception at 186 Algonquin Park Road. The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to Boy Scouts of America and the Alzheimers Association.

Rosemary Whalen, 69, of Burchacon Apartments in Burke, died at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone.

Born in Ogdensburg on Aug. 2, 1930, she was the daughter of Oscar and Edna (Anderson) Barnes.

There will be no public calling hours. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2000, in St. Patrick’s Church with Rev. Fay Ager officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Riverside Cemetery in Ellenburg Center.

Sandy L. Laraby, 36, of 253 Springflower Drive in Malone, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. He had been a patient there since April 6, 2000.

Born in Malone on Jan. 24, 1964, he was the son of the late Clarence and Hazel Hodges.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

Eleanor T. Lane Dodge, 44, of 819 Grant Ave. in Schenectady, and formerly of Dickinson Center, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 10, 2000, at the St. Claire Hospital in Schenectady.

Born in Malone on May 8, 1955, she was the daughter of Orin and Eleanor McDonald Pickering.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Norman LaMountain officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Cooks Corners.

Bonnie J. Young, 46, of 327 Main St. in Witherbee, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at the Community Hospital in Elizabethtown.

She was born on Aug. 13, 1953, in Schenectady, the daughter of Grant and Helen Gilette Ryan.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery at a later date.

Stephen F. Bushy

Wilmington — Stephen F. Bushy, 52, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

He was born in Keene Valley on May 3, 1947, the son of Warren and Genevieve (Courtney) Bushy.

He graduated from Harlem Valley School of Nursing in 1974 and had worked as a registered nurse in Albany, Keene Valley and Saranac Lake hospitals until 1994. For the past five years, he was employed at the Grand Union in Lake Placid.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Bushy designed and built his own home on Springfield Road in Wilmington. He enjoyed gourmet cooking and excelled in working with computers.

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Tuesday, April 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 12, at 11 a.m at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid, with the Rev. Linda McIntyre, pastor of the Whiteface United Methodist Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wilmington Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Sylvia Everleth

Schuyler Falls — Sylvia Everleth, 38, of Schuyler Falls, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at the St. Peter's Medical Center in Albany.

She was born in Holyoke, Mass. on Sept. 23, 1961, the daughter of Leo and Hattie (Lafountain) Bertrand.

Sylvia enjoyed crafting and spending time with her children.

She is survived by one son, Michael Annis of Schuyler Falls; three daughters, Cristina Martineau and her companion Jeremy Ladue of Plattsburgh, Jennifer Martineau of Schuyler Falls and Samanthia Martineau and her companion Darrick Taylor of Schuyler Falls; a sister, Betty Brandon of Owls Head; one grandson, Aron Ladue; her former husband, Jeffrey Annis of Schuyler Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 11, 2000, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. from the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Henry J. LaVoie

Champlain — Henry J. LaVoie, 89, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point.

He was born in Champlain on May 2, 1910, the son of Nazaire LaVoie Sr. and Corina Giroux.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 767, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1418, a life member of the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge 621 and a life member of the Champlain Knights of Columbus Council 3525. He attended St. Mary’s School and was a member of St. Mary's Church.

He served in the U.S. Army and participated in the Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns, receiving three Bronze Stars and an Honorable Disability Discharge. He retired from Harris Graphics due to his disability.

He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, the former Frances Falcon, on March 22, 1958; his second wife, the former Margaret LaFontaine on Feb. 19, 1995; his brothers Emile, Nazaire Jr. and Paul; and his sister, Margaret Corbiere.

He is survived by his brother, Joseph Ernest LaVoie of Rouses Point; his stepdaughter, Linda McCray of Dayton, Ohio; two stepgrandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 12, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. The Knights of Columbus will meet at their home at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 13, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Champlain. Burial will be in the parish cemetery later in the spring.

Robert G. Bissonette, 83, of 19 Cedar Street in Malone, died April 9, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone.

He was born in Watertown on June 4, 1916, the son of the late Jerry and Eva (Brown) Bissonette.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

Patrick James Hayes, 41, died April 9, 2000, at his home in Gervais, Ore., after a two-year battle with colon cancer.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 16, 1958, the son of Evangeline Guynup-Brown and Bernard Hayes. Mr. Hayes owned and operated a landscaping business in Oregon.

Homer Gauthier, 76, of William Street in Saranac Lake, died April 10, 2000, at his home, following a short illness.

Calling hours will be at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc. in Saranac Lake on Wednesday, April 12, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. A Veterans of Foreign Wars service will take place at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening and a funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home, with Rev. James Larsh officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May.

Violet G. Rivers

SCHUYLER FALLS — Violet G. Rivers, 69, of Salmon River Road, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at her son and daughter-in-law’s home.

She was born in Standish, New York, on April 11, 1930, daughter of Frank and Arisa (Clark) LaPorte Sr.

She married Lawrence R. Rivers on February 26, 1969.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Monica Duso of Schuyler Falls; a daughter, Gloria Trost, of Plattsburgh; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and a godchild, Jonathan LaBarge; three sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Margaret) Reome of Plattsburgh, Brenda Provost of Cadyville, and Loretta Fisher of Orange, Mass.; and a brother, Michael LaPorte of Plattsburgh.

Family members who died previously include her husband, Lawrence Rivers, a granddaughter Valerie Duso, a great-grandson Danny Spears Jr., and several brothers.

Calling hours will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at noon from St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville. Burial will be in the Schuyler Falls Cemetery in Schuyler Falls.

Ernest Edward Platt Jr.

TUPPER LAKE — Ernest Edward Platt, Jr., 80, of Tupper Lake, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

He was born in Delmar, N.Y., on August 12, 1919, the son of Ernest E. Platt, Sr., and Anna (Rosa) Platt. He attended area schools.

Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1936. He served with the Pacific Fleet prior to WWII, and was Chief Petty Officer in the boiler room of the ships he was assigned on. Mr. Platt was serving on the U.S.S. Maryland, stationed at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, when the Japanese attacked. When the bombing began, Mr. Platt was in the naval base hospital and was immediately called to action to assist in the rescue of sailors and his fellow shipmates who had been on board ship when it went down with the U.S.S. Missouri. He continued serving on other ships during the war, including battleships, destroyers, carriers and supply ships. He told of the supply ships being targeted particularly by the enemy to prevent them from providing other American ships with fuel and supplies. Mr. Platt served in the Navy until retiring from active duty in 1951.

Following his Navy career, he moved to Tupper Lake, where he worked for the Altamont Dairy. In 1961, Mr. Platt began a new career with the U.S. Post Office in Tupper Lake. He worked as a letter carrier until his retirement in 1978.

Mr. Platt enjoyed golfing, gardening, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a very talented handyman and enjoyed working around the house, keeping things working.

He was married to the former Olive Smith, who predeceased him in November 1994.

Mr. Pratt is survived by a son, Robert, and his wife, Cindy, of Tupper Lake; a daughter, Marlene Tuczinski of E. Chatham, N.Y., and four grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Louise Davis, of Lincoln, NE., and a brother, Raymond Platt, formerly of Westmere, N.Y., and more recently of Lincoln, NE. He was predeceased by a sister, Marie Pratt.

Calling hours for Mr. Platt will be held on Tuesday, April 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Patrick O’Reilly officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held in May at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad.

PLATTSBURGH — Due to inclement weather Sunday, the calling hours for Beatrice I. Trudeau will be today from 5-8 p.m. at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home.

Trudeau, 92, of Cumberland Head, died Friday, April 7, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary’s of the Lake Memorial Fund.

HARRY R. DOUGAN, 87, of Otis Road, Elizabethtown died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Elizabethtown Community Hospital.

He was born on February 11, 1913, the son of Robert and Alice (LaPine) Dougan.

A service will be held today at 10 a.. at the W. M. Marvins Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

ROSALIE M. WOLCOTT, 59, of Western Ave., Albany, formerly of North Lawrence, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany after a long illness with cancer.

Born Jan. 12, 1941, in Malone, she was the daughter of Percy and Ethel Sturgen Wolcott.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in North Lawrence.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the North Lawrence United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery in Dickinson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the North Lawrence United Methodist Church in her name.

SYLVIA EVERLETH, 38, of Schuyler Falls, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at St. Peter’s Medical Center in Albany.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Brian Glenn LaDue

Chazy — Brian Glenn LaDue, 42, of Washington Avenue, a devoted son, loving father and husband, passed away Friday, April 7, 2000, as a result of a tragic automobile accident while he was jogging.

Brian was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 12, 1958, to Leland and Marjorie (Latremore) LaDue.

Brian was a native of Chazy. He graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1975. He attended Lake Placid School of Art and graduated from Alfred University in 1978. He married the former Yvonne Bushey in 1983. Brian, along with his brothers, Bruce and Brent, was a co-owner of Chazy Hardware and Building Supply in Chazy and Rouses Point. He is a past president of the Adirondack Builders’ Association. Brian and his family were members of Sacred Heart Parish in Chazy. Brian was an avid reader, outdoorsman and athlete. Above all, he cherished his family and friends.

Brian's loving family includes his wife, Yvonne; a son, Jordan, 10; a daughter, Abby, 6; his parents, Marjorie and Leland LaDue of Chazy; his brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Gloria LaDue of Chazy; his brother and sister-in-law, Brent and Kim LaDue of Chazy; his maternal grandmother, Pearl Latremore of Chazy; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy LaDue of Chazy; his father and mother-in-law, Francis and Helen Bushey of Chazy; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his infant son, Lucas LaDue; his paternal grandfather, James LaDue Sr.; and his maternal grandfather, Luman J. Latremore, who died on the same day.

Calling hours will be Sunday, April 9, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Brian Glenn LaDue Scholarship Fund at Chazy Central Rural School to be established.

Luman J. Latremore

Chazy — Luman J. Latremore, 91, of Washington Avenue, passed away Friday, April 7, 2000, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side.

He was born on Jan. 18, 1909, in Chazy, the son of William and Harriet (DeCelle) Latremore.

Luman had been employed by New York State as a highway supervisor, Chazy Central Rural School, Dock and Coal and for Georgia Pacific Paper Mill for 25 years, retiring in 1974. After retirement, Luman did custodial work for the Keeseville National Bank for eight years. Luman's enjoyment was his work, his home and, most of all, his family. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Chazy. In 1997 Luman and his wife were crowned King and Queen at Chazy’s Old Home's Day.

Luman is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Pearl A. Forkey of Chazy; a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Mary Latremore of Chazy; a daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Leland LaDue of Chazy; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Steven LaPine of Essex Junction, Vt.; eight grandchildren, Bruce and Gloria LaDue of Chazy, Brent and Kim LaDue of Chazy, Yvonne LaDue of Chazy, Curtis and Lori Latremore of Chazy, Christopher and Amanda Latremore of Chazy, Carol and Peter Lyons of Chazy, Craig LaPine of Colchester, Vt., Wendy and Marc Kenny of Jericho, Vt., and Carrie LaPine of Jericho, Vt. His grandson, Brian LaDue, died on the same day. He was also survived by 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Farrell of West Chazy; a brother, Brooks Latremore of Keeseville; and several nieces and nephews.

Luman was predeceased by two brothers, Curtis Latremore and Francis Latremore; and two great grandsons, Lucas LaDue and Cody Latremore.

Beatrice I. Trudeau

PLATTSBURGH — Beatrice I. Trudeau, 92, of Cumberland Head, died Friday, April 7, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in North Adams, Mass., on June 19, 1907, the daughter of John and Harriet (Coty) Roberts.

She attended Notre Dame French School in North Adams and later married Romeo E. Trudeau on April 29, 1939, at Notre Dame Church. Mr. Trudeau died on Jan. 7, 1987.

Beatrice and her husband moved to Plattsburgh in the spring of 1940 and purchased a farm on Cumberland Head, which they operated for 37 years. She also ran an early "bed and breakfast", then called a "tourist home". She was a member of the Cumberland Head Home Bureau, a member and, for many years, the secretary-treasurer of the Altar Rosary Society of St. Peter’s Church and a member of the Ladies of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Marie Bublitz of Westerly, R.I. and Elizabeth "Betty" LaPier of Cumberland Head; and a brother, Lewis Roberts of North Adams, Mass. She also leaves four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Lisa Bublitz of Westerly, R.I., Kent and Alyssa LaPier and their children, Koby and Keatra of West Chazy, Robert Bublitz and his son, Joshua of Westerly, R.I. and Craig and Julie LaPier and their children, Tyler, Caitlyn, Jessica and Gwendelyn of Weston, Mass.

A brother, William Roberts and a sister, Evelyn Brooks, died earlier.

Calling hours at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home will be Sunday, April 9, 2000, from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Harry R. Dougan, 87, of Otis Road, died on Saturday, April 8, 2000, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital. He was born on Feb. 11, 1913, the son of Robert and Alice (LaPine) Dougan.

A graveside service will be held April 10, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
