Mary Ann Abraham
Plattsburgh
— Mary Ann Abraham, 60, died March 18, 2000, at her home.
She was born
in Syracuse on April 21, 1939, daughter of William C. and Margaret A.
(Kelley) Lundquest.
Mary Ann was
a graduate of St. John's Academy in Plattsburgh and obtained her
master's degree from Plattsburgh State. She had been employed by
Clinton County ARC for over ten years. She recently was employed by
Sunmount DDSO.
Mary Ann was
a member of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. She enjoyed cooking and
was an animal lover. She was involved with Greyhound Rescue of
Vermont.
Mary Ann is
survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kelley and Bernard Brault of
Chazy; a son, Christopher Abraham of Bellingham, Mass.; three brothers
and sisters-in-law, James and Arlene Lundquest of Corning, William and
Joan Lundquest of Styvescent and Jon and Claire Lundquest of Dennis,
Mass.; two aunts; several cousins; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was
predeceased by her husband, Jerome S. Abraham, on Jan. 17, 1986.
Calling hours
will be Monday, March 20, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at 11 a.m. from St. Peter's Church
in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later in the spring in St. Peter's
Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Clarence E. Wade
Willsboro —
Clarence E. Wade, 81, of the Middle Road, Willsboro, died at the
Elizabethtown Community Hospital on Friday, March 17, 2000.
He was born
in Reber, April 2, 1918, the son of Ernest and Anna (Mere) Wade.
He worked for
the NY and Penn Paper Company until it closed and then became a
self-employed butcher. He was a avid outdoorsman and gardener and
belonged to the Willsboro Fish and Game Club.
Mr. Wade is
survived by one son and his wife, Edward and Sharon Wade of Willsboro;
three daughters, Janice Drew of Willsboro, Denise and her husband Joe
Goddeau of Cadyville and Joyce and her husband Elton Barton of
Willsboro; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces
and nephews.
He was
predeceased by his wife Bernice (VanOrnam) in 1998; and two sisters,
Ruth Sayward and Norma VanOrnam.
Calling hours
will be held at the Huestis Funeral Home in Willsboro on Sunday, March
19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the
funeral home on Monday, March 20, 2000, at 11 a.m.

Glen
Robert Ashley, 36, of Lakeland Drive, Raleigh, N.C., formerly of
Massena and Plattsburgh, died unexpectedly Friday, March 17, 2000, at
the Western Wake Medical Center in Cary, N.C.
He is the son
of Glen F. and Jane Ashley of Plattsburgh and formerly of Massena.
Funeral

Massena.
Bernard A.
Schork, 80, of Margaret Street in Malone, died Friday, March 17,
2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.
He was born
in College Point on April 30, 1919, the son of the late Carl and Irene
(Wick) Schork.

will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers
Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone, with Msgr. Dennis

Robert James Trombley
Plattsburgh — Robert James Trombley, 58, of Flynn Avenue, died on
Friday, March 17, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Saranac Lake on Feb. 23, 1942, the son of Clifford
Trombley and Mary Trombley.
Bob cooked at several North Country restaurants for 17 years,
including the Quanset Steak House in Potsdam, the Roman Gardens
Restaurant, Mama Mia's and Arnie's. Mr. Trombley was a member of the
First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Roberta Butchino; four sons,
Kevin and Shelby Trombley of Plattsburgh, Larry Trombley of
Plattsburgh, Robert J. Trombley of Plattsburgh and Jeffrey Trombley of
Redford; two daughters, Tina and Peter Downey of Morrisonville and
Sandra and Gary Wells of Peru; two sisters, Shirley and George Hart of
Beekmantown and Barbara Dennis Infantino of Rochester; 13
grandchildren, Danielle Renadette, Christopher, Matthew and Jennifer
Trombley, Andrew, Shawn and Nakia Trombley, Scott, Ryan and Kristie
Downey, Allison and Erin Trombley and Brittany Wells; and several
nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at
the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday at
the First Assembly of God Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St.
Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

John V. Flora
Willsboro —
John Vaughn Flora, 60, of West Road, Willsboro, died on Thursday,
March 16, 2000, at his home.
He was born
on June 26, 1939, in Plattsburgh, the son of Claude and Dorothy
(Stanley) Flora.
He married
Stella M. Eubar on June 27, 1959, in Willsboro.
He was a
veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked at NY Penn until it closed in 1965
and then worked as a truck driver. He was an avid coonhunter and loved
the outdoors.
He is
survived by his beloved wife of 41 years; a son, John Jr. and his wife
Sharon of Peru; two daughters, Jodie and Wayne of AuSable Forks and
Tammy and Neil Champagne of Fairfield, Conn.; five grandchildren,
Wayne, Dustin and Chelsea Fredrick of AuSable Forks and Danielle and
John Flora of Peru. He is also survived by his mother; one brother and
his wife, Stanley and Annette Flora; two sisters, Claudia Flora and
Eleanor (Flora) Stafford and her husband Spencer Sr., all of
Willsboro; a nephew, Spencer Jr. and his daughter, Skiler; a niece,
Samantha; and several aunts and uncles.
He was
predeceased by his father and his brother, Thomas O. Flora.
There will be
no calling hours. The family has requested that donations in John’s
name be made to the Willsboro Rescue Squad.
Gordon LeClair
CHURBUSCO —
Gordon LeClair, 61, of Liberty Pole Rd., Churbusco died Thursday,
March 16, 2000, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice
of the North Country.
He wasborn in
Churbusco, Oct. 7,1938, he was the son of Roy and Odile (LaClair)
LeClair.
On October
30, 1958, he married the former JoEllen Ryan at St. Patrick's Church,
Chateaugay.
Mr. LeClair
is survived by his wife of 41 years, his mother, Odile LeClair of
Churbusco; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Marylou LeClair
of Churbusco, Patrick and Julie LeClair of Churbusco; one brother and
sister-in-law, Herman and Elaine LeClair of Burke; three
grandchildren, Harry, Thomas and Rebecca LeClair of Churbusco; several
nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his father Roy in 1980.
Mr. LeClair
lived his whole life in Churbusco and was a dairy farmer. A memorial
mass will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at 1 p.m. at Immaculate
Heart of Mary Church in Churbusco. Burial will be private and at the
convience of the family. Memorial donations in his memory may be made
to Hospice of the North Country.

Philip A. Molfetta
MINEVILLE —
Philip A. Molfetta, 76, of Sherman Street in Mineville died Tuesday,
March 14, 2000, at his home.
He was born
Sept. 4, 1923, in the Bronx, New York City, the son of Giusseppe and
Anna (Chirico) Molfetta.
He was a
retired electrician with the Metro-North Railroad in New York City.
He was a
veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific
campaign and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mineville Post
5802.
He was also
an avid golfer.
He is
survived by two daughters, Katherine Molfetta of Mineville and Dolores
LaScala of Great Falls, Va.; two sisters, Elizabeth Scialabba of Cape
Coral, Fla. and Rose Cafaro of Valley Stream; and three grandchildren,
Christine, Valerie and Michael.
His wife,
Dolores C. Molfetta, died Feb. 12, 1986.
Calling hours
will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral
Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Church of All Saints in Mineville, with
Rev. Michael Toth officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Peter and

Floyd L. "Let"
Wilkins
PLATTSBURGH
— Floyd L. "Let" Wilkins, 73, of Route 9, died Tuesday,
March 14, 2000, at the Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington,
Vt.
He was born
in AuSable Forks on March 5, 1927, one of the 16 children of Nathaniel
and Lillian (Potter) Wilkins.
He was
married to Raymonde M.J. Coupal on Nov. 23, 1950; she died on Nov. 28,
1996.
Floyd worked
for forty years as a mill sawyer for LaGoy Lumber Company in AuSable
Forks and Ward Lumber Company in Jay and also as a self-employed
building contractor until 1987, when he became disabled from heart
disease.
Survivors
include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Bob Craig of
Plattsburgh and Lisa and Angelo Sutton of St. Albans, Vt.; eight
grandchildren, Holly A. Jones of Oklahoma City, Okla., Leahan Johnson
of St. Albans, Vt., Karrie Staley of Ellenburg, B.J. and Anika Craig
of Plattsburgh, Ashley, Jacee and Jhai Sutton of St. Albans, Vt.;
three great-grandchildren, Karlee Rae Craig of Ellenburg, Joslyn Jones
of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Colby Staley of Ellenburg; two brothers;
five sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours
will be Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in
Plattsburgh, with funeral services to follow at 6 p.m.

Anabelle V. Ward
Plattsburgh
— Anabelle V. Ward of Plattsburgh and formerly Willsboro Point, died
at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh on March 15, 2000.
Anabelle was
born in Boonton, N.J. on Aug. 17, 1905, the daughter of Anna (Hiler)
and John Voorhees.
She graduated
valedictorian of her class and began a career in New York City, first
as a Spanish translator for an import-export company and later as
executive secretary to the owner of Standard Brands (General Foods).
Anabelle
married Frederick C. Ward on June 29, 1929, a graduate of Tufts
University and an electrical engineer with Bell Telephone
Laboratories. They resided in Cranford, N.J. and Willsboro Point and
were both active in school and church. Anabelle had been President of
the Presbyterial Society of Central New Jersey for several years.
Anabelle and
her husband retired in 1966 to Willsboro, where they were active in
the Congregational Church. In later years, she volunteered at CVPH.
Her husband
of 49 years died in 1987.
She is
survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frederick and Linda Ward of
Plattsburgh; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Lecky of
Beekmantown; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Ward of Boston, Mass.,
Lindsay Ward of Plattsburgh, Ned Lecky and spouse Phyllis of
Williston, Vt. and Thomas Lecky and spouse Amanda of New York City and
Keene Valley; and two great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Ryan of
Williston, Vt.
Funeral
services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

John J. Gallagher
Oneonta —
John Joseph Gallagher, 81, of Otego Road, Southside, Oneonta, died on
Wednesday, March 15, 2000, after an extended illness.
He was born
on Dec. 19, 1918, in Mechanicville, the son of John H. and Margaret
(Carless) Gallagher.
He married
Catherine J. Muirhead on Sept. 27, 1941, at Clinton Heights in
Rensselaer.
A member of
the Fourth Infantry Division, he landed with the assault troops on
D-Day, June 6, 1944, as a platoon sergeant. During combat, he was
promoted to first sergeant and was awarded a battle field commission
as well as various citations, including the Silver Star, Bronze Star
and the Purple Heart. He was retired for disability as a lieutenant in
1946.
He was
educated at Saint Mary's School and Oneonta High School. After his
military service, he earned his bachelor and masters degrees from SUNY
College at Oneonta. He taught American history for many years at
Sidney Junior High School, retiring in 1976.
Mr. Gallagher
was a member of the Oneonta Country Club, the OCC Board of Directors,
past board president and club manager. He was also a member of the
American Legion, the Oneonta Elks Club, the National 4th Infantry
(IVY) Division Association, the Retired Officers Association, the NYS
United Teachers, the Alumni Association of SUNY Oneonta College and
St. Mary's Church.
He is
survived by his beloved wife of 58 years; a son, Dr. John W. Gallagher
and his wife Barbara of Plattsburgh; two daughters, Jean E. and her
husband Robert B. Hobkirk of Oneonta and Maureen G. and her husband
Andrew V. De Bonis of Oneonta; five grandchildren, Sean M. Gallagher
and his wife Paula of Baltimore, Md., Patrick J. Gallagher of Saranac
Lake, Catherine L. Hobkirk of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Cara J. and her
husband Kenneth Mussaw of Oneonta and Robert W. Hobkirk of Oneonta;
two great-grandsons, Kevin J. and Jonah D. Gallagher of Baltimore, Md.
He is also
survived by one brother and his wife, Edward and Dorothy Gallagher of
Otego; four sisters, Mary G. and Ronald Smith of Brooksville, Fla.,
Katherine and William Reilly of Oneonta, Patricia and Ted Gorton of
Venice, Fla. and Rosalie Pollman of Syracuse; and a sister-in-law,
Doris B. Gallagher of Oneonta.
He was
predeceased by his brother, Charles T. Gallagher; and a
brother-in-law, Donald Pollman.
Friends may
call at the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St. in Oneonta after 3
p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2000. The family will be in attendance from
7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10
a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2000, at St. Mary's Church, Walnut Street,
Oneonta, with the Rev. Paul Roman officiating.

Harold F. Brown
Malone —
Retired newspaper editor, Harold F. Brown, 86, of Malone, died
Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in Leesburg, Fla.
Born in
Malone on July 9, 1913, he was the son of Walter A. and Anna (Smith)
Brown.
He attended
Notre Dame Parochial School and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy.
He took courses at the former Adirondack Commercial School,
Plattsburgh State and North Country Community College.
On May 29,
1939, he was married to Gladys Ruth Tobey in a ceremony at Notre Dame
Church with the Rev. Charles Desrosiers officiating; she survives.
A veteran of
World War II, he served three and a half years in the Signal Corp,
including two years in the European Theater.
At age 16, he
started work after school in the mailroom of the Malone Evening
Telegram. Later, he became a full-time linotype operator, a trade he
learned from his father, an employee of the Telegram for more than 45
years.
In 1952, he
was transferred from the composing room to editorial staff and was a
reporter until 1965, when he became managing editor. He held that
position until Feb. 1, 1977, when he retired. After retirement, he
continued to write a column for the paper entitled "Our Man In
Florida," from his home in Satsuma, Fla.
During his
career, he wrote features and was a stringer for the Watertown Daily
Times, the Syracuse Post Standard, the Syracuse Herald Journal and
other newspapers.
Surviving
besides his wife, Gladys, are a son and daughter-in-law, William and
Delilah "Dee" Brown of Malone; a sister and brother-in-law,
Thelma and Donald Cooper of Malone; two grandchildren, Michelle Brown
of Malone and Jeff Brown of Rainbow Lake; a great-granddaughter,
Cassandra; and several cousins.
He was a life
member of Malone Lodge of Elks, a member of Malone Council Knights of
Columbus and Holy Name Society of Notre Dame Church. He was a former
trustee of Franklin County Museum and Historical Society and former
director of the Malone Chamber of Commerce. He was also a former
member of Malone Post of Amvets and state public relations officer, a
former member of Malone Post American Legion and North Star Post
Veterans of Foreign Wars, past president of Malone Rotary, past member
of Malone Golf Club, past president of Malone Badminton Club and past
president of the former Malone Photography Club. His hobbies included
golf, photography, hunting, fishing and badminton.

Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
Saturday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in

Beatrice McGee
Plantsville,
Conn. — Beatrice (Lesperance) McGee, 98, of Date Drive, Plantsville,
Conn., widow of Ernest McGee, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at
Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington, Conn.
Born in
Keeseville on Oct. 29, 1901, a daughter of the late Joseph and Exilda
(Young) Lesperance, she lived most of her life in Keeseville before
moving to Plantsville one year ago.
She worked as
a clerk at Village Bazaar in Keeseville for many years before her
retirement. She was a parishioner of St. John's Church in Keeseville,
a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Ladies of the Elks in
Keeseville.
She leaves
two daughters and a son-in-law, Jean Perry of Plantsville, Conn. and
Ruth and Roger Bigelow of Bristol, Conn.; a daughter-in-law, Pauline
McGee and a son-in- law, Warren Barber, both of Keeseville; eight
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven
great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her
husband, she was predeceased by a son, Herman McGee; a daughter, Doris
Barber; a stepson, Kenneth McGee; and a grandson.

will be Saturday, March 18, 2000, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hamilton
Funeral Home in Keeseville. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 11
a.m. from the Hamilton Funeral Home to St. John's Church in

June Goven
Bottner, 65, of New
Port Richey, Fla. died March 13, 2000, at Community Hospital in New
Port Richey, Fla.
She was born
in Champlain on June 3, 1934, the daughter of Henry and Mable
(Hemingway) Goven. She moved to New Port Richey 41 years ago from
Champlain.
A funeral
will be held at City Hall Place, New Port Richey. Arrangements are
with the Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home, Congress Street Chapel, in New
Port Richey.

Thomas A. Douglas
AuSable Forks
— Thomas A. Douglas, 63, died on March 13, 2000.
He was born
in AuSable Forks on June 13, 1936, the son of the late Arthur J.
Douglas and Ida Chasolen Douglas Longtemps.
He was the
Town of Jay Supervisor from November 1972 to August 1980 and then
again from January 1998 to the present. He chaired numerous committees
while serving on the Essex County Board of Supervisors. He was the
Essex County Democratic Chairman from 1985 to 1990.
He served as
parade announcer for many local parades held in both AuSable Forks and
Jay and master of ceremony for numerous organizations and local fund
raisers. He played a key role in locating a physician to the town and
was successful in the recruitment of Dr. Richard Bremer.
He was the
Holy Name School Road Runner basketball coach from 1983 to 1990 and
past president of Holy Name School Board, parish council, and Holy
Name School alumni committee.
He was a
charter member of both the AuSable Forks Jaycees and the Keeseville
BFOE Elks Lodge. He was the former owner/operator of Art’s Village
Inn. He served as co-chairman of the AuSable Forks original ambulance
fund drive, past Little League coach for the Youth Commission,
including Babe Ruth and Pee-wee baseball coach, was on the
organizational committee for CVBL AuSable Spirits and an organizer and
past treasurer of the AuSable Forks Fast Pitch Organization. He was
also a past member of the AuSable Forks Fish and Game Club.
Tom's family
will remember him most as being a very loving and caring family man.
He was especially proud of his grandchildren, with each one of them
having a very special place in his heart. He was a role model and his
devotion to his family and community will never be forgotten.
He leaves
surviving his wife, Ava Tuttle Douglas, whom he married on June 12,
1956, at Holy Name Church in AuSable Forks. Survivors also include his
mother, Ida Douglas Longtemps; his daughter, Debra D. Straight and her
husband Robert of Jay; two sons, Kevin A. Douglas and his wife
Caroline and Randy T. Douglas and his wife Peggy of AuSable Forks;
five grandchildren, Nathan Straight, Carrie Douglas, Michael Douglas,
Savannah Douglas and Shane Douglas; one sister and brother-in-law,
Joan and Orville Brown of Jay; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert
E. and Pat Douglas of AuSable Forks; four nephews, Brian Douglas,
Craig Douglas, Scott Brown and Jeffrey Brown; one brother-in-law,
Edward R. Tuttle of Roy, Utah; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law,
Lynda and Bill Straight of Jay; his mother-in-law, Ruth Tuttle
Laundree of Ogden, Utah; and several nieces and nephews.
He was
predeceased by his father, Arthur J. Douglas, on Sept. 1, 1972; a son,
Timothy E. Douglas, on July 27, 1970; and a niece, Marla M. Brown, on
July 27, 1970.

Geraldine M. Lancto
MORRISONVILLE
— Geraldine M. Lancto, 84, of S.F. Vilas Home and formerly of Main
Street, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was born
in Standish on Sept. 22, 1915, the daughter of Jerry and Hattie
(Yelle) Jette.
Geraldine
married Arthur Lancto in 1933; Arthur died in 1985.
Mrs. Lancto
was a member of St. Alexander's Church. She was in the church choir,
the Rejoice Always prayer group and Rejoice Always singers. She taught
Catechism and was also a member of the Altar Rosary. Geraldine was
also a member of Home Bureau. Mrs. Lancto worked as a sales associate
in the accounting office for Montgomery Ward for 15 years.
Survivors
include one son and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Dawn Lancto of
Morrisonville; one daughter and a son-in-law, Sandra and James Hogle
of Morrisonville; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one
great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
A daughter,
Joan Lancto; two brothers, Harold Jette and Jerry Jette; and two
sisters, Violet Marcoux and Loretta Conley, died earlier.

Stanley G. Pierce died Monday, March 13, 2000, at the Elizabethtown

in Essex, Sept. 21, 1937, the son of Gerald and Marion (VanOrnam)
Pierce.
Mr. Pierce
owned and operated his own garage in Boquet for over 30 years. He was
a lifetime member of the Essex Volunteer Fire Department, an Army
Veteran and served as a town councilman for the Town of Essex for 20
years.
He is
survived by his wife Thurla (Tillie Moynan) Pierce; three sons and
their wives and children, Gerald (Jerry) and Robin and sons Ryan and
Tyler of Essex, Kevin and Yvonne and children Derrick, Lucas and
Elliot of Willsboro and Todd and Angela and children TJ, Cole and
Chase of Essex; one daughter and her husband, Shari and Matthew Morris
and children Austin and Joel of Lewis; and two sisters and their
husbands, Stella and Stanley Brown of LaGrangeville and Brenda and
John Teichman of Plattsburgh.
Calling hours
will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at
the Huestis Funeral Home in Willsboro. Funeral services will be held
at the Essex Methodist Church on Thursday, March 16, 2000, at 2 p.m.
Burial will follow in the New Bert Cemetery in Whallonsburgh.
In lieu of
flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Essex Rescue
Squad.
ohn M. Pollic
Malone —
John M. Pollic, 80, of Fourth Street, Malone, died Tuesday morning,
March 14, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, He had
been a patient there since March 9, 2000.
Born in Stone
Mills on Aug. 9, 1919, he was the son of the late John and Mary
(Kovacs) Pollic.
He served in
the U.S. Army, stationed in North Africa during World War II. He was
wounded in action three separate times. He was honorably discharged.
On Oct. 22,
1944, he was united in marriage to the former Margaret Dupras at St.
Patrick's Church in Rouses Point; she survives.
In January of
1944, Mr. Pollic was employed by the U.S. Border Patrol Agency. He
served in Rouses Point, Fort Covington and Malone. He retired in 1975
as a senior patrol agent.
Mr. Pollic
was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of the Holy Name
Society. He was also a member of the Malone Lodge of Elk, Malone Moose
Club, Malone Senior Citizens, Malone Knights of Columbus, Malone
American Legion, Amvets and Disabled American Veterans. He was also a
member of the Fraternal Order of Retired Border Patrol Agents. He was
an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and
boating.
Besides his
wife, Margaret, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John J.
and Lucia Pollic of Southgate, Mich.; one brother and sister-in-law,
George and Ginny Pollic of Richland; two sisters, Mary Wise of
Richland and Anna Davis of Watertown; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with
his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Ella and Katherine
Pollic.
Calling hours
will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers
Funeral Home in Malone. The Notre Dame Holy Name Society and the
Malone Knights of Columbus will hold a joint wake service at 7 p.m. on
Thursday at the funeral home. The Malone American Legion, Amvets and
DAV will call together at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. A
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Notre
Dame Church in Malone, with the Rev. Scott Seymour officiating. Burial
will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in the spring,

be made in his memory to either the Malone Volunteer Fire and Rescue
Department or to the Owl's Head Mountain View Volunteer Fire and
Rescue Department.

Guzy, 77, of River
Street, Lake Placid, died at his home on Monday, March 13, 2000.
He was born
in Cohoes on June 4, 1922, the son of Anthony and Mary (Cyran) Guzy.
Friends may
call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Friday from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. An American Legion prayer service will be held Friday
evening at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at
the Saint Agnes Church in Lake Placid with Rev. Michael Gaffney,
pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the North Elba Cemetery.
Raymond W.
Tarbox, 81, of
Piercefield, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical
Center in Saranac Lake.
He was born
in Richford on Feb. 17, 1919, the son of William and Lola (Hamilton)
Tarbox.

will be held on Thursday, March 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass will be held on
Friday, March 17, at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Church with the Rev. Robert

Geraldine A.
Earlin, 91, died
Sunday, March 12, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac
Lake.
She was born
on Dec. 7, 1908, in Millville, N.J., the daughter of Christopher and
Cora (Parent) Albertus.

Benjamin W. Sanger
Ingraham —
Benjamin W. Sanger, 74, of 137 Stratton Hill Rd., died Saturday, March
11, 2000, at his home.
He was born
in Plattsburgh on Oct. 20, 1925, the son of Walter B. and Alice
(Harris) Sanger.
His first
wife, Jean Barber, died in 1975. He then married the former Mary
Violet Reyell in 1977 at the Chazy Presbyterian Church.
He was the
owner of Sanger's Maple Sugar Farm in Ingraham and was also a machine
operator for Brunell & Sons Road Construction in South Plattsburgh
for more than 20 years.
Mr. Sanger
was a member of the Chazy Presbyterian Church and Elks Lodge 621 in
Plattsburgh.
Mr. Sanger is
survived by his wife Violet; two sons, Paul Sanger of Plattsburgh and
Lee Sanger and his wife Kim of Mooers; five daughters, Mrs. John
(Pamela) Zubis of Blind River, Ontario, Mrs. Daniel (Nancy) Vesco of
Chazy, Mrs. Robert (Carol) Skib of Tulsa, Okla., Judy Sanger and her
companion, Carol Casey, of West Chazy and Debby Powers and her
companion, Herb McCasland, of West Chazy; a daughter-in-law, Katie
Sanger of Chazy; two brothers, David Sanger and his wife Ann of
Castleton-on-Hudson and Philip Sanger and his wife Alice Lou of West
Chazy; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces
and nephews.
Private
calling hours will be held for the family. Funeral services will be
held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Chazy Presbyterian Church. Burial
will be in Ingraham Cemetery in the spring.

his memory may be made to the Chazy Volunteer Fire Department Rescue

Anne R. Connell
Port Kent —
Anne R. Connell, 82, of Lumber Street in Port Kent, died Monday, March
13, 2000, at the home of her daughter, Mary Anne, while under the care
of her family and High Peaks Hospice.
She was born
in Peru, April 28, 1917, the daughter of Martin and Mary Anne
(O'Connor) Schofield. She graduated from Peru Central High School.
She married
Leo P. Connell in 1946. He died June 28, 1954, leaving four children,
to whom Anne dedicated her life until the time of her death.
She was the
tax collector for Keeseville Central School for many years. She was a
member of the Golden Apple Club. She was a communicant of the
Immaculate Conception Church.
As a loving
wife and mother, Anne is remembered most for her love of her God and
her family, her flower gardening and everything Irish. She most
enjoyed a good laugh and the sun shining on, and her view, of Lake
Champlain from her home of 45 years in Port Kent. She will always be
remembered for her warmth and kindness to all, her joy of simple
things and her molasses and raisin cookies.
Survivors
include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathlene and Jerry Proper of
Wadsworth, Ohio and Mary Anne and James Goff of Keeseville; two sons
and one daughter-in-law, Martin and Mary Connell and David Connell,
all of AuSable Forks; three sisters-in-law, Claudette Schofield of
Peru, Dorothy Schofield of Massena and Helen Ashley of Atlanta, Ga.;
one brother-in-law, Jack Connell of Keeseville; five grandchildren,
Anne Marie and Eric Miller, Bradford and Tonya Blouin, Kira Krauss and
Leo and Luke Connell; three great-grandchildren, Cate and EJ Miller
and Kyle; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours
will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton
Funeral Home in Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church
in Keeseville, with Rev. Philip T. Allen, pastor of the Assumption of
Mary Church in Redford, celebrating. Burial will be in the parish
cemetery in the spring.
Ann loved to
read and instilled the love of reading in her children. For this
reason, in her memory, donations may be made to the Keeseville Free
Library or High Peaks Hospice.

Ernest D. Barcomb
Mooers Forks — Ernest D. Barcomb, 76, died Thursday, March 9,
2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Mooers Forks on Dec. 12, 1923, the son of Delor and
Yvonne (Poissant) Barcomb.
He was a dairy farmer for over 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was a
member of St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks.
He is survived by his wife, the former Regina Roberts of Mooers
Forks; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Martine Barcomb of Mooers
Forks; five daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Stephen Argilan of
Altona, Alice and Bill Wrye of Mooers Forks, Phyllis and Robert Wilson
of Mooers Forks, Karen and Paul Poissant of Champlain and Janet and
Murray Weir of Mooers Forks; a brother and sister-in law, Casper and
Doris Barcomb of Altona; a sister, Clarice Raymond of Champlain; 16
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
A daughter, Betty Barcomb; and two brothers, Leo and Roland
Barcomb, died before him.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the
E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will
be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday from St. Ann's Church in Mooers
Forks. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association or
the Mooers Rescue Squad.
Maria L. Mathia
Chateaugay Lake — Maria L. Mathia, 82, of Chateaugay Lake and
Plattsburgh, died March 11, 2000, at CVPH in Plattsburgh where she had
been a patient since Feb. 19, 2000.
She was born in New York City Dec. 21, 1917, the daughter of Paul
and Laura (Linck) Mathia.
Maria graduated with the first class from Hafstra College in
Hempstead in 1939, and from the School of Library Science of Columbia
University, New York City, in 1945.
She established the Roosevelt Public Library in Roosevelt after
gaining experience in the Yorktown Branch of the New York Public
Library and the Elmont Public Library in Elmont. She left public
library work to become a school librarian in 1943.
She was school librarian at Washington Junior High School in Mount
Vernon, Elmsford High School in Elmsford and F.D. Roosevelt High
School in Hyde Park, before becoming school librarian in the
Greenville Central School system in 1948. After two years in the
Sauquoit Central School system, she accepted a position as elementary
school librarian in the Massena Central School system and was
instrumental in setting up the libraries in four elementary schools.
In June 1973, she retired from the Massena School system to her
home on Chateaugay Lake.
She is a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association,
First Friday Club, Belmont Hi-Riders, Retreat League and Catholic
Daughters. She was a member of St. Jude's Parish in Brainardsville and
also a lector and Eucharistic minister at St. Jude's.
She was one of the original directors of the Bread of Life Food
Pantry in Chateaugay, but left the food pantry to direct the Extra
Helpings Program in Chateaugay as long as her health permitted.
Reading, travel and needlework were among her hobbies.
She is survived by two sisters, Sister Mary Loyola Mathia of
Beverly Hills, Fla. and Laura Frankeny of Lakeville, Calif.; a
brother, Joseph Mathia of Wantagh; and several nieces and nephews.
Three sisters, Charlotte Barber, Rita Mathia and Irene Besig,
predeceased her.
Calling hours will be at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Tuesday,
March 14, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial
will be held at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church in Chateaugay on
Wednesday, March 15, 2000. Internment will be in St. Michael's
Cemetery in Mohawk Hill in the spring.

Department or St. Jude's Church in Brainardsville.
Helen Alys McKee, 74, of the Miner Road, Malone, died Friday,
March 10, 2000, at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Fla. She
was born in Malone on Dec. 28, 1925, the daughter of Archie and Lucy
(Jarvis) Manson.
The family will receive friends at her home on the Miner Road,
Monday, March 13, 2000, from 3 to 6 p.m. A parish vigil service will
be conducted at 5:30 p.m. Monday at her home. A Mass of Christian
burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. in
Notre Dame Church with Msgr. Dennis Duprey officiating. Spring burial
will take place in Morningside Cemetery in Malone.

Robert L. Wright, 70, of Ogdensburg, died March 9, 2000, at
Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. He was born in Plattsburgh on
Jan. 9, 1930, the son of William and Marguerite (Morse) Wright.
Calling hours were Friday, March 10 and a Mass of Christian burial
was held on Saturday, March 11 at St. John’s Church in Morristown
with Msgr. Leeward Poissant officiating. Burial will be in the spring
at Notre Dame Cemetery in Ogdensburg.
