Marie G. Parrotte

Silver Lake — Marie G. Parrotte, 78, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Black Brook on July 31, 1921, the daughter of Victor and Margaret (LaFountain) Betters.

She was active in the Saranac R.S.V.P. program and was a communicant of the Church of the Assumption.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Wilfred and Joyce Parrotte of Redford, and Ricky and Karen Parrotte of Silver Lake; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Patrick Allen of Silver Lake; a sister, Rose Sheffield of Ausable Forks; eight grandchildren, Todd and Scott Parrotte, Michelle Parrotte, Kimberly Couture, Nicholas and Ryan Parrotte and Ty and Kristy Allen; six great-grandchildren, Samantha Parrotte, Pacey Couture, Holly and Corey Parrotte, Parker Couture and Sarah Parrotte; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Wilfred Parrotte, died on Jan. 18, 1999; a son, Harold; and a sister, Violet Hackett, also died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday from the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery in Black Brook in the spring.

Memorial donations may be made to the Saranac Rescue Squad.

Kate Brady

West Columbia, S.C. — Kate H.R. Brady, 77, of West Columbia, S.C. died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 1, 1923, the daughter of the late Alick and Kate Francis and came to the United States from England with her parents in 1946.

She served in the Land Army in England for four years in World War II. She was employed as a seamstress with Olga Knitting mills and Clayton Manufacturing Plant in New York for many years.

She was married to Eugene W. Brady on Aug. 3, 1952, at Orleans Four Corners. They operated a dairy farm in LaFargeville until 1962, when they relocated to Chateaugay and Chazy. In 1991, they retired to West Columbia, S.C.

Surviving are her husband, Eugene W. Brady of West Columbia, S.C.; two sons, Kyle Brady of Lexington, S.C. and Drew Brady of Winter Haven, Fla.; three grandchildren, Natasha and Nathaniel Brady of Lexington, S.C. and Heather Brady of West Columbia, S.C.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Shiloh Methodist Church, West Columbia, S.C.. Rev. Roger Goupil will officiate and Mr. Lyles Hughes of New York will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in Grove Cemetgery in LaFargeville in the spring.

Memorials donations may be made to Shiloh Methodist Church, the Alzheimers Association or the American Cancer Society.

Janet Patnode, 66, of State Route 374, Chateaugay, died March 3, 2000, at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. She was born in Chateaugay on Aug. 12, 1933, the daughter of Edmund and Anna Boyea Jarvis.

Visitation will be at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday, March 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at noon on Monday, March 6, 2000, in St. Patrick’s Church with Rev. Fay Ager officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Chateaugay in the spring.

Arrangements are by the Chateaugay Funeral Home in Chateaugay.

Hubert M. Donahue, 68, of Fort Covington, died March 3, 2000, at his home. He was born in Fullerville on June 23, 1931, the son of the late John and Olive (Dashnaw) Donahue.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington, with the Rev. Martin Farrell officiating. Burial will be in the old St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Covington in the spring.

Arrangements are through the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home of Fort Covington.

Lucus Benjamin Bishop, beloved baby son of Timothy and Melissa (Bortnick) Bishop of Castle Rock, Colo. was stillborn on March 2, 2000 at the Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo.

Cecil R. Gee

Addison — Cecil R. Gee, 70, of County Route 85, Addison, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Corning Hospital in Corning after a long illness.

He was born in Campbell on Sept. 22, 1929, the son of Daniel R. and Ruth (Platt) Gee.

A graduate of Campbell Central School, he was employed for 34 years as a forharth operator at Corning, Inc. A member of Elkland Lodge LOOM and the Addison Eagles Club, he was a former member of Local 1000 American Flint Glass Workers Union, a member of the Robert N. Austin Post American Legion War Dads of Campbell and a social member of the Howard S. Lines Post Veterans of Foreign Wars of Knoxville, Pa.

He married Velma M. Vona on Jan. 19, 1962, who survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Cheryl Draper of Hammondsport, Deborah Polaski of Hickory, N.C., Alicia Simpkins of Dublin, Va. and Linda Gee of Addison; two sons, Cecil W. Gee of Bath and Robert Gee of Distant, Pa; one brother, David Gee of Savona; two sisters, Greta Jessup of Beaver Dams and Berneta Hess of Clay Center, Kan.; and several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday, March 4, 2000, from 1 - 3 p.m. at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St., Woodhull, where funeral services will be conducted immediately following visitation. Rev. Brian Diffenbacher will officiate. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.

James Francis "Frank" Perrin

Lake Placid — James Francis "Frank" Perrin, 88, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at the Uihlien Mercy Center in Lake Placid.

Born in Owls Head on June 27, 1911, he was the son of Frederick and Nellie (Coughlin) Perrin.

He was married to Josie Howard in Lake Placid. His wife predeceased him.

Mr. Perrin worked for the Paul Smith Electric Co and later Niagara Mohawk, retiring in 1974. He and his wife resided in Bloomingdale.

Mr. Perrin was a very active member of St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale, the Knights of Columbus of Saranac Lake, the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department and for many years was involved in local politics, serving as a member of the Bloomingdale Town Board. For 55 years he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, James and Sherry Perrin of Westport and Frederick of North Palm Beach, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Marion Gonyea of North Bangor; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Lawrence; three sisters, Miss Margaret Perrin, Mrs. Gertrude Proper and Mrs. Clara Conners.

Calling hours for friends and family were held Thursday March 2, at the Spaulding Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph’s Church in Malone. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Bloomingdale

Memorial gifts may be given to the Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.

Lee Arthur Vincent

Burke — Lee Arthur Vincent, 54, of Burke died at his home Thursday, March 2, 2000.

Born in Malone on May 24, 1945, he was the son of Silas Morton and Ruth (Armstrong) Vincent.

He graduated from Franklin Academy in 1963 and Canton ATC in 1965. He became a partner with his father and brothers and was involved with the management and operation of the Vincent Farms in Burke.

On April 27, 1983, he married Janie Vincent at their family home in Burke. She survives.

Mr. Vincent was a member of the Methodist Church, Empire State Potato Growers Association, Franklin County Cooperative Extension, Franklin County Farm Bureau, Maple Producers Association, a member of the Malone Lodge of Moose, a former Director of the Franklin County Agricultural Society and former Burke Town Justice.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Ruth Vincent of Burke; a son, Paul of Carolina Beach, N.C.; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Amy Wagner of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mrs. James Leanne Bair of Cortland and Brenda Lee Vincent of Allentown, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Melissa Myers of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Silas and Sandra Vincent Jr. and David and Mary Vincent, both of Burke; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jim Lobdell of Chateaugay; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gloria and Hal Mullin of Vestal; a grandaughter, Gabriella Vincent Bair; and stepgrandchildren, Tristan, Kira, Alina and Joshua Wagner.

He was predeceased by a son, Marc Allen Vincent, on Oct. 24, 1989; and his father, Silas, on May 8, 1998.

Calling hours for friends and family will be Saturday, March 4, 2000, at the Spaulding Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday at 2 p.m. Rev. Derek Trudell will officiate. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to the Burke Call Firemen and Rescue Squad.

Emma Lee Keith

Saranac Lake — Emma Lee Keith, 67, of Vermontville, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born Dec. 2, 1932, in Vermontville, she was a daughter of Robert and Hazel (Tyler) Goff.

Mrs Keith had been a 4-H leader and was a member of the Catholic Daughters Court Rosary of Fatima. She enjoyed doing search-a-word puzzles, knitting, sewing and hemming pants. She was special to all her family members and whenever anyone needed anything, she would provide it.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph W. Keith, whom she married Nov. 24, 1955, in St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale; two daughters, LuAnne Gadway of Saranac Lake and Teresa Moore of Old Town, Fla.; a son, Bryan Keith of Vermontville; three grandchildren, Janelle McCormick and her husband Jeff, Wade and Tiffiny Holtz; three sisters, Mary Ellen Keith of Vermontville, Lulu LaBrake of Lake Clear and Betty Wilson of Vermontville; five brothers, Thomas (Bud) Goff, Gene Goff, Donald Goff, David Goff, all of Vermontville and John Goff of Spencer; a sister-in-law, Genevieve Goff of Vermontville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Anna Yott; a brother, Robert Goff Jr.; and a son-in-law, Michael Holtz.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Friday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Father Francis Flynn, pastor of St. Paul's Church, officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Vermontville in May.

Doris E. Brown

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Doris E. Brown, 83, formerly of Romeo Circle, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home.

Doris was born on Feb. 14, 1917, in Beekmantown, daughter of Hector and Anna (Grube) Lamora.

Doris had been employed at the YMCA in child care for several years. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Doris enjoyed gardening, fishing and bowling.

Doris is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Maryann Brown of Peru and Thomas and Terry Brown of Melrose; one sister, Margaret Howard of Syracuse; a brother-in-law, Frank Capone of Plattsburgh; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Doris was predeceased by her husband, David W. Brown; a sister, Pearl Capone; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Fay Lamora; and a brother-in-law, Frank Howard.

Calling hours will be Friday evening, March 3, 2000, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Friday evening at 9 p.m. from the Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be later in the year in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Mary E. (Ryan) Ives

Ticonderoga — Mary E. (Ryan) Ives, 86, of The Portage, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2000, at the Moses Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga.

Born in Ticonderoga, May 23, 1913, she was the daughter of Daniel C. and Anna (Semple) Ryan.

Mrs. Ives was a lifetime Ticonderoga resident. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Of St. Mary's #794 of Ticonderoga.

She is survived by one son, Daniel C. Ives of Putnam Station; one daughter, Mrs. William (Mary Lou) Drinkwine of Fairhope, Ala.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon J, Ives, on July 25, 1998; and one grandson, Robert Ryan Drinkwine.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 4, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ticonderoga. The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor, will officiate. Interment will take place at the family plot of St. Mary's Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga in the spring.

Alma C. Lavigne

PLATTSBURGH — Mrs. Alma C. Lavigne, 85, of Stetson Ave. died Friday March 2, 2000, at the CVPH MedicalCenter.

She was born in Plattsburgh on April 4, 1914, the daughter of the late William C. and Arma (Rollier) Carr. She was a graduate of the Champlain Valley School of Nursing Class of 1936. Alma was a member of St. Peter's Church and was the widow of Edward C. Lavigne, Sr. who died in 1992.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Edward C. and Barbara Lavigne of Plattsburgh; two daughters and a son-in-law, Suzanne Brunet of Plattsburgh, Judith and Barry Haley of Plattsburgh; a brother and a sister-in-law, George and Jean Carr of Syracuse, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Plattsburgh.

DEBORAH L. CUSTER, 40, of Lake Ozonia Road, in Hopkins died Wednesday, at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital after a long illness.

She was born Feb. 24, 1959, the daughter of Frederick and Edith Debiew Mourick.

The Anderson Funeral Home in North Lawrence will be open on Monday, March 6, 2000 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. for calling hours. There will be no funeral at the request of the family. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

MARION E. BURKE, 90, of Potsdam, died March 2, 2000, at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena.

She was born Sept. 2, 1909, in Brasher. She was the daughter of John and Catherine Arquitt Burke.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, March 6, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the St. Lawrence Church in North St. Lawrence, with Rev. Clark White officiating. The Anderson Funeral Home in North Lawrence will be open on Saturday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. for calling hours. Deborah Payette Slater

Plattsburgh — Deborah Payette Slater, 48, formerly of Concord Avenue, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston.

She was born in Plattsburgh on June 24, 1951, the daughter of Francis and Ethel (Duley) Payette.

Debbie was a graduate of St. John's Academy Class of 1968 and received her bachelor of arts in English from SUNY Albany in 1972. She then received her masters in education and counseling from Plattsburgh State in 1977. Debbie was a English/Literature teacher at Plattsburgh Senior High School from 1972 until 1990.

In addition to her love of teaching and working with students, she taught adult education at BOCES in Plattsburgh. In the 1970's she worked at Planned Parenthood. Debbie was a member of the Kiwanis Club, After School Theater Productions and Book Club. A lover of music and folk singing, she was a member of a folk group which provided the weekly music at the Newman Center. Debbie was a lifelong member of St. John's Church.

Debbie is survived by a son, Evan Slater of Plattsburgh; her loving partner, Steve Fugate of Prescott, Ariz.; five sisters, Barbara Payette Hiney of Catskill, Jo Anne Soto of Texas, Mary Papa of Plattsburgh, Sue Ann Payette of Defreestville and Sara Hammond of Easley, S.C.; two brothers, Frank Payette of New Hampshire and Christopher Payette of Keeseville; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Church. Following the funeral Mass, family and friends are invited to a reception in celebration of Deborah's life in the church hall.

Mrs. Doris E. Brown, 83, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home.

Larry D. LaVoie, 40, of East Main Street, Chateaugay, died at his home on March 1, 2000, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Malone on Dec. 8, 1959, the son of Yvon and Kay (Jackson) LaVoie.

Visitation will be at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Friday, March 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2000, in St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Fay Ager officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay in the spring.

Wallace Cameron Wright

Murphy, N.C. — Wallace Cameron Wright, 75, of Wine Branch Road, Murphy, N.C., died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at his home.

He was the son of the late Homer Washington and Madeline Eleanor (Rhino) Wright and was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Wilson Wright, who died in 1993.

He was a native of Clinton County, a U.S. Army veteran and was of the Catholic faith. He was retired from General Motors as an office accountant.

Surviving are one brother, Paul Wright of Murphy, N.C.; and ten sisters, Dorothy Wright Loso of Harrisonburg, Va., LaVerna Wright Whisher, Janice Wright Miller, Evelyn Wright Walton, Roberta Wright Furnia and Carol Wright Wisher, all of AuSable Forks, Maude Wright Kennedy of Peru, Mary Wright Whitney of Keene, Anne Wright Cross of Plattsburgh and Goldie Wright Lozier of Corinth.

An entombment was held Wednesday, Feb. 16, in the Chapel of Angels Mausoleum of Crestview Memorial Garden, Gallantin, Tenn.

Townson Rose Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jamie E. Reeves

Rouses Point — Jamie E. Reeves, 29, of Lake Street, died unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at his home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 18, 1970, son of Elmer R. and Veronica E. (Terry) Reeves.

Jamie was a 1990 graduate of Chazy Central School. He worked for various general contractors for several years. Jamie developed such a love for building that he became self-employed. He was currently employed at Wyeth Ayerst for the past four years.

Jamie enjoyed the outdoors, played soccer and especially loved working with his hands.

Jamie is survived by his wife, of Rochester; his mother and stepfather, Veronica E. and Kurt Brasdat of West Chazy; one brother and sister-in-law, David M. and Tammy Reeves Sr. of Plattsburgh; his maternal grandmother, Aline Terry of Chazy; two stepsisters, Brigitte Brasdat of Seattle, Wa. and Elizabeth Brasdat of Rouses Point; and many other family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Elmer R. Reeves, in 1995.

Calling hours will be Thursday, March 2, 2000 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later in the year in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Beryl Barton, 86, of Elizabethtown died Tuesday at Elizabethtown Hospital. She was born in Keene Valley, the daughter of Edwin and Carrie (Pettinger) Hall.

Calling hours will be held at Marvin's Funeral Home, Elizabethtown on Friday, March 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery in Keene in the spring.

Peter G. Farrell, 74, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at his home in Tupper Lake. He was born on Jan. 11, 1926, in New York City, the son of Peter J. and Anne L. (Gorton) Farrell.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church with Rev. Robert Shurtleff officiating. Burial will take place in May at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Augustus James Wilson

Mineville — Augustus James Wilson, 67, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, after a long illness. He was born on Feb. 6, 1933, in Lake Placid, the son of John and Joyce (Sibley) Wilson.

He had worked in the woods as a lumberjack and logger. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing.

He is survived by three brothers, Eugene Wilson of Mineville, Wesley Wilson of Cadyville and Kenneth Wilson of Paso Robles, Calif.; five sisters, Phylis Perry of Vergennes, Vt., Marguareta Vartuli of Witherbee, Marie Mitchell of Plattsburgh, Shirley LeWare of Peru and Betty Scozzafava of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be conducted in the spring at the Norton Cemetery in Keene.

Arrangements are with the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry.

Viola C. Gutelius

Beekmantown — Viola C. Gutelius, 76, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Standish on Nov. 1, 1923, the daughter of Edward J. and Lillian H. (Rivers) Baker.

She is survived by her husband, Frank D. Gutelius of Deweyville, Texas; six sons, Marcus Gutelius of Sulpher, La., Warren Gutelius of Akron, Ohio, Frank Gutelius Jr. of Akron, Ohio, Donald Gutelius of Beekmantown, Scotty Gutelius Jr. of Vinton, La. and Martin Gutelius of Akron, Ohio; four daughters, Carmen Dow of St. Augustine, Fla., Diane of Kentucky and Renee and her twin sister Pamela of Erie, Pa.; three brothers, Edward J. Baker Jr. of West Plattsburgh, Max Baker of Cleveland, Ohio and Arthur Baker of Cadyville; two sisters, Mildred Baker of West Plattsburgh and Helen Chapman of Cleveland, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Three brothers and a sister died earlier.

Sister John Dominic Girard, OP

Fall River, Mass. — Sister John Dominic Girard, 100, of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at the Dominican Sisters of Hope in Fall River, Mass.

She was born Marie Anne Girard on Aug. 18, 1899, in Fall River, Mass., the daughter of the late Edward and Delia (Dube) Girard.

Her date and place of entrance was Aug. 30, 1917, in Fall River, Mass., with the date of first profession March 7, 1919, and final profession on March 25, 1922.

Sister John Dominic was involved in Catholic education for more than 40 years. Between 1928 and 1936, and between 1940 and 1961, she taught elementary and high school level, directed the high school glee club, taught piano lessons, moderated the high school band and the Sodality of Our Lady and served as principal of St. Peter’s School in Plattsburgh.

She taught elementary students at St. Anne School in Fall River, Mass. during the late 1930’s and early 1970’s and religious education classes in the 1960’s in three parishes in Chateaugay, Mooers Forks and Ellenburg.

She is survived by two sisters, Bertha and Yvonne Girard of New Bedford, Mass.; and a nephew, Raymond Girard of Tiverton, R.I.

Calling hours were Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at the Convent of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, 37 Park Street, Fall River, Mass. with a wake service held at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, Feb. 28, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. in the convent chapel, with burial immediately following in Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.

Arrangements were with the Boule Funeral Home, 615 Broadway, Fall River, Mass.

William H. Toussaint

PLATTSBURGH — William H. Toussaint, 92, of Park Avenue, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Chazy on Jan. 23, 1908, the son of Fred and Sarah (LaBombard) Toussaint. William married the former Mildred G. Robare, who died in 1988.

Mr. Toussaint was a member of St. Peter’s Church and a retired member of the Civil Service Employees Association. Mr. Toussaint worked as a power plant engineer for the Dannemora Correctional facility for 37 years, retiring in 1963 due to illness.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) DeSimone of Keeseville, Mrs. Patricia Dubrey of Chazy Lake and Mrs. Adele Sams of Plattsburgh; one sister, Mrs. Helen Hines of Swanton, Vt.; ten grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Chazy in the spring.

Donations may be made to the Dannemora Volunteer Fire Department in his memory.

William Palmer Daul, 58, of Dannemora, died Friday Feb. 25. 2000 at the Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. He was born May 7, 1941, in Plattsburgh.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora at a later date to be announced. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dannemora.

Arrangements are with the Fox-McLellan Funeral Home in Ogdensburg.

Fred Parkinson, 74, of Seminole, Fla., died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at VAMC Bay Pines.

He was born on April 9, 1925, in Fall River, Mass., the son of Fred and Mildred (Brown) Parkinson.

A graveside service will be held at the Long Lake Cemetery in Long Lake on Thursday, March 2, 2000, with Rev. Dorothy Okray officiating.

Donations in his name may be made to the Long Lake Medical Center Building Fund.

Local arrangements are with the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake.

David A. Mitchell, 36, of Tupper Lake, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Mass. He was born on Feb. 15, 1964, in Tupper Lake, the son of Arthur G. and Patricia A. (Gauthier) Mitchell.

Calling hours were held on Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 29, at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Church in Tupper Lake. Burial with full military honors will be held in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in May.

Ubald Joseph Picard

MALONE — Ubald Joseph Picard, 88, of the Farrar Home, Malone, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, where he had been a patient since Feb. 16.

Born in St. Louis, Quebec, Aug. 8, 1911, he was the son of Felix and Emma (Veiu) Picard.

Mr. Picard is survived by a brother, Real Picard of Tonawanda; six sisters, Germaine Reid of South Brownsbrook, N.J., Lucille Jarvis of Pleasant Valley, Mrs. Lester (Deneige) LaBarre of Port Richey, Fla., Mrs. Harold (Margaret) LaVarnway of Plattsburgh, Mrs. Carl (Gertrude) Murray of Port Richey, Fla., Mrs. Edward (Rita) Murphy of Holiday, Fla.; a close friend, Ada Frank of Malone; and many nieces and nephews.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents; three bothers, Lucien Picard, Charles Picard and Gerald Picard; and a sister, M. Cecile Demarse.

Mr. Picard enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1942 and was honorably discharged in November 1945.

His employment includes 16 years at Buffalo Steel, 11 years at the V.A. Hospital in Buffalo and 11 years at Sunmount Hospital in Tupper Lake, retiring in 1966.

Upon his retirement, he returned to Chateaugay until 1973 when he moved to Malone.

He was active in fire departments in Buffalo, Chateaugay and Tonawanda where he was a lifetime member of Tonawanda Hose Company 3, a member of the Gold Age Club in Malone and a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Malone.

He was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Chateaugay and Tonawanda.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Chateaugay Funeral Home.

services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, in St. Patrick’s Church in Chateaugay with the Rev. Fay Ager officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Magdalina Robbins

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Magdalina Robbins, 95, formerly of Braim Road, Greenfield, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs.

Born on June 11, 1904, in Deerfield, she was the daughter of George W. and Margaret (Loughlin) Brucker.

She married Alvin F. Robbins on Nov. 16, 1929. He died on Nov. 3, 1997.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include a son, Alvin F. Robbins, Jr., of Saratoga Springs; a daughter Mrs. Edward (Beverly J.) Bechard, of Rouses Point; two sisters, Louise Kemler of Newport and Edna Martin of Utica; a sister-in-law, Helen Brucker; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, a sister, Lora Brucker and a brother, Chris Brucker, died before her.

No calling hours are scheduled.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the family plot at East Schuyler Cemetery in Schuyler.

Alice B. Swain

SARANAC LAKE — Alice B. Swain, 102, of 12 Fairview Ave., Saranac Lake, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid where she had been a resident since April 13, 1998.

Born in Beekmantown April 2, 1896, she was the daughter of Phillip and Mary (Cummings) Beeman.

She met her husband, John Swain, while they were both working at Stonywald Sanitarium at Lake Kushqua. They were married Oct. 7, 1919, at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake with Father Waters officiating. He predeceased her Feb. 1, 1949.

Mrs. Swain was a resident of Saranac Lake since 1914, coming from West Chazy. She was employed by various restaurants including the Hotel Saranac, the Elks Club and Durgan’s.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Bernard and was a communicant of St. Bernard’s Church. She also loved knitting, needlepoint and playing cards.

She is survived by one daughter, Mildred S. Dupree of Saranac Lake; two sons, Robert J. Swain of Saranac Lake and Arthur E. Swain of Oxford, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Susan Smith of Fredericksburg, Va., Thomas Swain of Saranac Lake, Dr. Margaret Swain-Grey of Oxford, Pa., Dr. John Swain of Tucson, Ariz., Dr. Stephen Swain of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., Douglas Swain of Lewiston, Pa., Albert Swain of Cochranville, Pa., and Jeffrey Swain of Norfolk, Va. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc. in Saranac Lake Tuesday, Feb. 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Catholic Daughters service will take place Tuesday evening at 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake with the Rev. Timothy Soucy officiating.

Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May.

Friends wishing to remember Alice B. Swain may make memorial contributions to St. Bernard’s School or Uihlein Mercy Center in care of the Funeral Home.

AUGUSTUS J. WILSON, 67, of Mineville, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at CVPH Medical center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Lake Placid Feb. 6, 1933.

There will be no calling hours. Spring burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

GARY F. DEBIEW, 59, of Fulton, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Crouse Irving Hospital in Syracuse after a long illness.

Born May 6, 1940, in St. Regis Falls, he was the son of Henry and Emma (Ashlaw) Debiew.

Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Anderson Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton, with the Rev. John Demo officiating. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery in the spring.

VIOLA C. GUTELIUS, 76, of Beekmantown died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at CVPH Medical center in Plattsburgh.

Van A. Lopez

Ellenburg Depot — Van A. Lopez, 35, of Route 11 in Ellenburg Depot, died Feb. 24, 2000, at his home. He was born on June 13, 1964, in Plattsburgh, son of the late Paul and Gloria (LaPierre) Lopez.

Van was a nature lover and loved camping and hiking. Van worked for the Blue Haven campground in Ellenburg f'or the past three years.

He is survived by one sister, Donna LaFave of Plattsburgh; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Jay and Carol Lopez of Mooers and Shawn Lopez and his companion Alain David of Montreal; three nieces and a nephew, Katrina, Bryant, Naomi and Alicia; and many friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at 5 p.m. from St. Joseph's Church in Mooers. Donations in his memory may be made to his family.

Martha M. Kent

Massena — Martha M. Kent, 83, formerly of Chateaugay Lake and currently of Massena, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Massena Memorial Hospital in Massena.

Born in Racquette Lake on April 6, 1916, she was the daughter of Robert and Jennie (Rork) Thompson.

She was married to Donald L. Kent on Nov. 11, 1939, in Chateaugay Presbyterian Church, Chateaugay, by Rev. Stenson. Mr. Kent predeceased her on July 31, 1995.

Mrs Kent made her home at Chateaugay Lake since 1979, after she and her husband returned from Silver Bay, Minn. In 1999, she moved with her daughter, Anna, to make her home in Massena. She and her husband cared for 28 foster children and 14 fresh-air children during their lives. She enjoyed her flower garden and often dressed the altar table in church with her fresh flowers.

Mrs. Kent is survived by two daughters, Anna Becker of Massena and Donna Hodge of Mansfield, Ill.; four sons, Gary Kent of Isabella, Minn., Christopher Kent of Chateaugay Lake, "Skipper" Kent of Mahwah, N.J. and Eugene Kent of Appleton, Wis.; three foster children, Iola Messier of Colon, Mich., Nancy Chilton of Delon and Dawn Staley of Keeseville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Those that preceded her in death were her husband and parents; three brothers, Eugene Thompson, Douglas Thompson and Robert Thompson; and three sisters, Fredericka Armstrong, Mae Gadle and Mina Buckless.

Visitation will be at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in Brainardsville United Methodist Church with Rev. David Stanton, assisted by Rev. Anna Becker, her daughter. Burial will take place at Eastside Cemetery in Chateaugay in the spring.

Donations in her memory may be made to the United Methodist Churches at Brainardsville, Grace in Massena and Hogansburg or Chateaugay Rescue Squad.

Eva Rose Favreau

Champlain — Eva Rose Favreau, 85, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Champlain on July 15, 1914, the daughter of Gilbert and Philia (Bouffard) Pelletier.

She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Favreau and his wife Susan of Rouses Point and Ronald Favreau and his wife Elaine of Rouses Point; a daughter and son-in-law, Anita Poissant and her husband Joseph of Malone; a sister, Marjorie Pelletier of Champlain; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, George Favreau; a sister, Amelia Tatro; and two brothers, Andrew Pelkey and Henry Pelletier.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 28, at St. Mary's Church in Champlain at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Mooers in the spring.

Bernice D. Lamora

Redford — Bernice D. Lamora, 67, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at her residence.

She was born in Tupper Lake on April 4, 1932, the daughter of Henry and Aurora (Pellerin) Briquer Sr.

She was a member of the Church of the Assumption in Redford. She enjoyed embroidering and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Lamora of Redford; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne and Ann Lamora of Cadyville and Joseph Lamora of Saranac; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sherry Facteau of Morrisonville and Lori and Patrick Robinson of Morrisonville; a brother, Henry Briquer of Saranac; a sister, Shirley Shiflett of Plattsburgh; and nine grandchildren.

A sister, Theresa Carter, died before her.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

Memorial donations may be made to the Saranac Fire Department Rescue Squad.

David Henry Blazer

Lake Placid — David Henry Blazer of Liberty Hill Road, Lake Placid, passed away Feb. 25, 2000, at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, Vt.

He was born Oct. 10, 1921, in Phillipsburgh, N.J., the son of Ruth and Charles Blazer.

He graduated from Stamford Central School in 1940 and served in the U.S. Air Force 345th Bomb Group in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1945.

He was the Town Supervisor of the Town of Kortright, Delaware County, for ten years. He was employed at National Bank of Hobart for 27 years and the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets on the Commissioner’s Staff for 13 years. He also worked part-time for the U.S. Department of Agriculture after his retirement.

He was a member of Rotary International, the Lake Placid American Legion Post 326 and seved as an elder in St. Eustace Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret Tyler Blazer of Lake Placid; a sister, Mary Blazer Dorn of Oneonta; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Andrew Charles Blazer of Riverside, Calif. and Ted Tyler Blazer and his wife Catherine Kayser Blazer of Lake Placid; three grandchildren, Andrew of Montana and Christian and Mary Lauren of Lake Placid; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and 15 nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday, Feb. 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. There will be an American Legion prayer service at the funeral home Monday at 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at the St. Eustace Episcopal Church in Lake Placid with Father Peter Francis officiating. Burial will be in the North Elba Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to the New York Ski Education Foundation in Wilmington.

ANNE RYAN VOLTZ, 77, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Buffalo. She was born in Plattsburgh, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Ryan.

Calling hours and a funeral Mass will be held early next week in Buffalo, with burial in the family plot.
