Donald J. Reyell
Morrisonville
— Donald J. Reyell, 72, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at the CVPH
Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born
in Plattsburgh on Feb. 1, 1928, the son of John S. and Rose (Laundry)
Reyell.
He was
employed for over 43 years at the Imperial Paper Mill in Plattsburgh
and owned and operated D&H Auto on the Morrisonville Road for many
years. He was a member of St. Alexander's Church.
Donald and
Dorothy cared for many foster children over several years.
He is
survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Rivers, whom he married in
April of 1946; his mother, Rose Reyell of Morrisonville; two daughters
and a son-in-law, Linda Bodette of Morrisonville and Renee and Wayne
LaPierre of Morrisonville; a foster son, Richard and Joyce Recor of
Berne; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Pauline Reyell of
Morrisonville; a sister, Barbara Lyman of Morrisonville; his
grandchildren, Brian and Rhea Reyell, Laurie Harvey, Eric Harvey,
Charlene Branham and Michael DuBrey; a foster grandson, David Recor;
his great-grandchildren, Anthony Harvey, Keshia LaPoint and Cierra
Harvey; a stepgreat-grandson, Caleb Branham; and several nieces and
nephews.
Bobby King
and Floyd Tellstone, both foster children raised by Donald and
Dorothy, predeceased him.
Calling hours
will be held on Sunday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown
Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated at noon Monday from St. Alexander's Church in
Morrisonville. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.
Dolores Duteau
Rouses Point
— Dolores Duteau, 77, of Rouses Point, died Feb. 17, 2000, at
Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
She was born
on July 28, 1922, in LaColle, Quebec, the daughter of Valentin and
Louisa (Bouchard) Girard.
She is
survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Real and Dorothy Duteau of
Uninoville, Ontario; three sisters, Yvette Bourdon, Dora Remillard and
Rita Richard; three grandsons, Michael Duteau, Eric and his wife,
Michelle Duteau and Corey Duteau.
She is
predeceased by her husband, Bernard, who died in 1981; two sisters,
Beth Guay and Alice Langlois; and a brother, Lord Girard.
Calling hours
will be Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. Rev. Wilfred DeRoche will pray the
Rosary at 2:30 p.m.
A Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 21 at St.
Patrick's Church in Rouses Point at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mont
Carmel Cemetery in LaColle, Quebec in the spring.
Dennis J. O’Connell
PLATTSBURGH
— Dennis J. O'Connell, 49, of 26 Cornelia St., formerly of
Cadyville, died Thursday February 17, 2000, at his home.
He was born
in Cadyville on April 24,1950 the son of Donald and Marjorie (Howard)
O'Connell.
Dennis was a
Vietnam War Combat veteran serving for three years. Upon returning to
the states he lived in California for several years where he went to
school. Later he moved to Texas to work for five years in the oil
fields. He returned back to the Plattsburgh area in 1985 and in recent
years worked for the NYS Department of Transportation as a surveyor.
Survivors
include his mother, Marjorie O'Connell of Cadyville; one son, Ledell
R. O'Connell of Vista, Calif; one daughter, Meredith O'Connell of
Vista Calif; two brothers, Roger O'Connell and his wife, Deanna and
Patrick O'Connell and his wife, Joan all of Cadyville; one sister,
Johanna "Jody" Adams of Plattsburgh and several nieces and
nephews.
He was
predeceased by two brothers, Donald "Ducky" O'Connell and S.
Ransford "Rance" O'Connell; one sister, Catherine
"Cassie" O'Connell and a nephew, Patrick M. O'Connell, Jr.
Calling hours
hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.
W. Walker Funeral Home.
A Mass of
Christian burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. James Minor
Church in Cadyville.
Burial will
be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

Ruth H. Bull
Corpus
Christi, Texas —
Ruth (Hart)
Bull of Haverhill Lane, Corpus Christi, Texas and formerly of
Plattsburgh and Peru, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at her home after a
long illness. All of her children were at her side.
She was born
in Schenectady on March 4, 1919, the daughter of Harry and Everil
Hart.
She was a
former member of St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh and St. Augustine’s
Church in Peru. A homemaker, she enjoyed her family and friends. She
liked bowling, doing crafts and crossword puzzles.
Ruth was
married in St. Helen’s Rectory in Schenectady to Carl J. Bull Jr.,
who died May 24, 1984.
She is
survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Carl J. Bull III of
Douglasville, Ga. and Michael and Ann Marie Bull of Rochester, N.H.;
two daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and George Larsen of Snead’s
Ferry, N.C. and Christine and James Priddy of Corpus Christi, Texas; a
sister-in-law, Loretta Bull of Peru; four brothers and sisters-in-law,
Larry and Ruth Hart of Scotia, Loren and Marion Hart of Schenectady,
Robert and Judy Hart of Schenectady and Norman and Colleen Hart of
Schenectady; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her
husband, she was predeceased by her son, Steven Bull, in 1982; and a
brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Marian Hart.
A Memorial
Mass was celebrated in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Saturday. Burial will
be in Plattsburgh in the spring.
Sara Dee Kegan
WicCopee —
Sara Dee Kegan, 53, of Wiccopee, died Feb. 15, 2000, at St. Francis
Hospital, Poughkeepsie, from complications of breast cancer.
Born in
Colfax, Wash., Dec. 5, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Dana F.
Crumb and Delia C. (Meiner) Crumb. On Feb. 5, 1966 in Wells and on
June 18, 1966, at St Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls, she married
John J. Kegan.
She was a
speech pathologist at Orange/Ulster BOCES, Goshen. She was a 43-year
Dutchess County resident, having previously resided in Walla Walla,
Wash. She was a member of the Chelsea Yacht Club; Sara was a world
class sailor, having competed in national and international
competitions. Sara was an accomplished folk music singer/songwriter
and guitarist. She was the lead vocalist for Druid Moon, an Irish folk
group, and she had sung with such artists as the Chapin Brothers.
Sara also was
an avid gardener. She was a graduate of Roy C. Ketcham High School,
receiving a Regents diploma. Sara attended SUNY Plattsbugh. She was an
honors graduate of SUNY New Paltz, where she received her B.S. in
speech pathology, and where she was pursuinq her masters degree in
reading, K-12.
Survivors
include her mother, Dee Crumb, Walla Walla, Wash.; her husband, John
J. Kegan, Salt Point; one son, Kevin J. Kegan, Wiccopee; two
daughters, Kellie Ann Kegan and Britt Erin Kegan, both of New York
City; a sister, Chris Bosbach, Austin, Texas; two brothers, Dan R.
Crumb, Lakewood, Colo. and Neil R. Crumb, Kennewick, Wash.; several
aunt and uncles; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is
Friday, Feb. 18, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Robert H. Auchmoody
Funeral Home, 126 Main Street, Fishkill, where funeral services will
be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Most Reverend James F.
McCarthy, a long time family friend, officiating. Burial will follow
in St Denis Cemetery, Hopewell Junction.
In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Sara D. Kegan to
Orange/Ulster BOCES, Special Education Facility, c/o Marguerite Flood,
Director of Special Education, 53 Gibson Road, Goshen, N.Y. 10524, for

KEENE VALLEY—
Karen Ann Smith, 42, of Port Henry and Keene Valley died Wednesday at
Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh. She was born May
4 1957 in Keene the daughter of Charles and Roberta L. (Manley) Smith.
She enjoyed
watching videos, traveling to Florida, Disney World, dining out and
spending time at home with her family, She was always concerned for
others and her memories will always be with her family.
She is
survived by her parents of Keene Valley; two sisters, Brenda L. Smith
and William Kiernan of Jacksonville Fla., and Darlene L. and Kevin
Gero of Altona; several aunts uncles and cousins, as well as many of
her friends at Essex Country ARC.
No calling
hours will be held. A memorial service will be held Saturday 10 a.m.
at W.M. Marvins Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. In lieu of flowers

(NED) MCINTYRE, 80, of Putnam Station died Thursday, Feb. 17,
2000, at his home after a short illness.
He was born
Jan. 8, 1920, in Putnam Station.

Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at the Uihlein Mercy Center Nursing Home in
Lake Placid where she had been a resident since 1985.

Lake. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will
take place at Noon on Monday, Feb. 21, at the Uihlein Mercy Center

Roy L. Manor
Champlain —
Roy L. Manor, 64, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at the CVPH Medical
Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born
in Ellenburg on April 10, 1935, the son of Albert and Leona (Rabideau)
Manor.
He was a
veteran and served during the Korean War. He was employed as a
production foreman for over 38 years at Wyeth-Ayerst in Rouses Point.
He is
survived by his wife, the former Doreen Saunders of Champlain; three
sons and two daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Robin Manor of Champlain,
Garry and Barbara Manor of Champlain and James Allen Manor of
Champlain; a daughter and son-in-law, Lauria Ann and Kevin Cayea of
Champlain; five grandsons; and a granddaughter.
His parents
and two brothers, Edward and Cyril Manor, died before him.
There will be
no calling hours. Private services will be held for the immediate
family. Burial will be in St. Edmund's Cemetery in Ellenburg in the
spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the
American Kidney Foundation.

Adelaide C. Parrott
WEST CHAZY
— Adelaide C. Parrott, 85, of Cemetary Road, died Wednesday, Feb.
16, 2000, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.
She was born
in Plattsburgh on April 15, 1914, the daughter of Albert and Zella
(Guyette) Lamoy. Adelaide married Arthur Parrott in 1942 in Peru.
Survivors
include her husband, Arthur, of West Chazy; one daughter and
son-in-law, Gwendolyn and Jim Seiner of West Chazy; seven
grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
Adelaide was
predeceased by one daughter, Linda Walters, in 1995.

will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker
Funeral Homic in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Friday at
10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Garvin Demarais, pastor of

Catherine B. Wilcox, 75, of the Cayea Road, Peru, died Wednesday, Feb.
16, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born
in Peru, March 28, 1924, the daughter of Edward and Mary (LaPan) Rock.
She was a
communicant of St. Augustine's Church. She enjoyed bingo and playing
the lottery.
Survivors
include her husband of 35 years, Harold Wilcox of Peru; one daughter,
Paulette Pride of Florida; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and
Sandy Rock of Maryland; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Aletha
and Tom McAndrew of Essex Junction, Vt., Hilda and Richard McGivney of
Stuyvesant and Karla and James LaMont of Peru; one stepson, Robert
Wilcox and his fiance, Debra Shifflett of Peru; two sisters, Melvina
Trudeau of Ticonderoga and Margaret Falcone of Peru; several
grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was
predeceased by five brothers, Frank, Victor, Leo, Bud and Joe; two
sisters, Thelma Rock and Victoria Elmore; and one son, Charles Bruno.

Germaine L. Benoit
Malone —
Mrs. Germaine L. Benoit, age 96, a resident of the Franklin County
Nursing Home, Malone, since September 1990, passed away Monday
evening, Feb. 14, 2000, at the nursing home. She had previously
resided at 8 Franklin Street.
Born in
Valleyfield, Quebec, on March 23, 1903, she was the daughter of
Wilbrod and Clementine (Fountaine) Avon. She attended schools in
Montreal.
On Oct. 7,
1924, she was united in marriage to Rosario Benoit in Ste.
Jean-Baptiste Church in Montreal, Quebec. Mr. Benoit predeceased her
on Nov. 13, 1968. She was a homemaker.
Survivors
include a son, Gerald Benoit of Canton; three daughters and a
son-in-law, Mrs. Lillian Yando of Malone, Rita and Marcel LaRocque of
Plattsburgh and Mrs. Claire Poupore of Malone; a half-brother, Edward
Avon of Montreal; a half-sister, Mrs. Jeanine Knuckle of Montreal; 17
grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her
parents and husband, she was predeceased by six brothers and sisters,
Germain Avon, Mrs. Graziella Tetreault, Mrs. Jeanette Menard, Yvonne
Avon, Mrs. Bernadette Paquette and Mrs. Blanche Corbeil; five
half-brothers and half-sisters, Maurice Avon, Theresa, Lucille and
Mary Lou Avon and Mrs. Carmen Allard; and two sons-in-law, Lawrence
Yando and Wallace (Baldy) Poupore.
She was a
communicant of Notre Dame Church of Malone, a member of the Altar and
Rosary Society, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, a
former member of the Notre Dame Church Choir, a member of the Malone
Adult Kitchen Band and R.S.V.P.
Calling hours
will be in the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, Malone on Wednesday from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at noon in Notre Dame Church, Malone.

Gregory L. Roy Sr.
Keeseville
— Gregory L. Roy Sr., 52, of AuSable Street, Keeseville, died
Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at his home.
He was born
in Plattsburgh, Sept. 29, 1947, the son of Leo and Anna (LaHue) Roy.
He graduated
from Keeseville Central School in 1966, and went on to serve in the
U.S. Marine Corps.
He was
employed as a machine operator with the Village of Keeseville Public
Works Department. He coached little league baseball for a time.
Survivors
include his wife, the former Cheryl Blaise of Keeseville; four sons
and one daughter-in-law, Greg Roy Jr. of Peru, Jay and Laurie Roy of
Silver Lake, Eric Roy and Chad Roy, both of Keeseville; three
daughters and one son-in-law, Tammy and Tom Hathaway of Keeseville,
Amanda Roy of Watertown and Nicole Roy of Keeseville; four sisters and
one brother-in-law, Joan Stannard of Keeseville, Ruth and Bob Barbour
of North Carolina, Mary Dzik of Keeseville and Jean Stevens of
Florida; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was
predeceased by his parents; two grandchildren, Raymond Roy and Kori
Lynn Roy; and one sister, Shirley Trombley.
There will be
no public calling hours. Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be
celebrated Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at 2 p.m. at St. John's Church in
Keeseville, with Monsignor Joseph Aubin, pastor, celebrating.
Donations in
his memory may be made to the Oncology Department at the Adirondack
Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Robert G. Filion
Rouses Point
— Robert G. Filion, 52, of Rouses Point, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000,
at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington, Vt.
He was born
on Sept. 27, 1947, in Plattsburgh, the son of Romeo and Jeanne
(Pinsonneault) Filion.
He graduated
from Champlain Central School in 1967. He was a member of the U.S.
Army Reserves from 1967 to 1973. He was employed by Anchor Motor
Freight in Champlain in 1970 and worked there until 1988 as Shop
Maintenance Foreman. From 1990 to the present date, he worked at
Champlain Peterbilt as Fuel Island Manager/ Sales Associate.
"Bobby"
belonged to the Ridgeview Hunting Club and was an avid NASCAR
enthusiast. He was also a member of the Champlain Knights of Columbus.
He is
survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary A. (Bombardier) Filion of
Rouses Point; two sons, Jason R. Filion and Barry A. Filion, both of
Rouses Point; his mother, Jeanne Filion of Plattsburgh; a brother and
sister-in-law, Thomas Filion and his wife Becky of Jacksonville, Fla.;
two sisters and brothers-in-law, Theresa Davis and her husband Loren
of Denver, Colo., and Beverly Duffina and her husband Donald of
Mooers; and several nieces and nephews.
He is
predeceased by his father, Romeo Filion, who died in 1980.
Calling hours
will be held Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at
the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. The Knights of Columbus
members will meet at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening and
Rev. Wilfred DeRoche will be there at 8 p.m. to pray the Rosary.
A Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m.
at St, Patrick's Church in Rouses Point. Burial will be in the parish

Richard W. Kelly
Plattsburgh
— Richard W. Kelly of 27 Olivetti Place, Plattsburgh, died on
Monday, Feb. 14, 2000. He was under the care of Hospice of the North
Country.
Born Aug. 21,
1920, he was the son of Hugh and Edith (DuBray) Kelly. He married Lita
V. Lynch of Point au Roche on July 13, 1946, in the rectory of St.
John's Church, Plattsburgh.
Richard
"Tich" Kelly grew up in Saranac Lake and graduated from
Saranac Lake High School in 1939, returning in the fall of 1940 for a
postgraduate semester. He played football, basketball and ran track in
high school. He was named to the All-Northern football squad in 1939
and 1940 and held a record for playing 22 consecutive football games
without a substitution. In track, he was the 1939 section champion in
the 220-yard hurdles.
After
graduation, he worked in the Republic Steel iron mines in Lyon
Mountain and attended Plattsburgh Normal School.
Following the
death of his brother, Hugh L. Kelly, in World War II, Mr. Kelly
enlisted in the Marines and served in the Pacific Asian theatre as a
field radioman. His engagements included the Aleutian Islands, the
Kwajallin Atoll, Saipan, Tinian and the invasion of Iwo Jima. He was
involved in the occupation of Japan, including occupying the city of
Nagasaki five days after the atomic bomb was dropped. He was honorably
discharged at the rank of sergeant on Nov. 25, 1945.
Mr. Kelly
lovingly raised a family of six children while working as a correction
officer at Clinton Correctional Facility and the prison ward at CVPH,
retiring after 32 years of service. He also worked as an insurance
broker and co-owned Mountain Valley Insuring Agency in Dannemora with
his son, Michael.
He enjoyed
roaming on the Kelly family homestead on Shingle Street in Schuyler
Falls and was a member of several animal advocacy organizations. He
also was a member of the Dannemora American Legion and the Veterans of
Foreign Wars (VFW) Plattsburgh Post 125.
He is
survived by his wife of 53 years, Lita Lynch Kelly; his sister-in-law,
Hilda Casey-Jenkins; his brother-in-law, James D. Lynch.
Also
surviving are his children and their families: son Michael L. Kelly,
his daughter Melissa (Kelly) and her husband, Sean O'Farrell and his
son, Michael N. Kelly; daughter Sara Kelly Johns, her husband Frank
Johns, her son Ryan Brenizer and her stepchildren, Robin and Doug
Brenizer and Anthony and Tyler Johns; daughter Lita Kelly Paczak, her
husband David Paczak, and her son Jay Lesage; daughter Donna L. Kelly,
her son Brian Chreitzberg and daughter Amanda (Chreitzberg) and her
husband, Jamie Recor; son Hugh V. Kelly, his wife Louise Wagner Kelly,
and their children, Hugh R., Timothy, Jennifer and Kieran; and
daughter Mary Kelly Sutphen, her husband Matthew and their children,
Andrew and Conor.
He was

— Grace A. Bruso, 78, of Bushey Boulevard, Plattsburgh, died
Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born
in Plattsburgh on June 10, 1921, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth
(Doucette) Bruso.
Grace had
been employed at Aranac Ribbon Mill in Plattsburgh. She was a member
of Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh.
Grace is
survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joyce Surace of
Utica, Eleanor and Robert Reeves of West Chazy and Carol A. and
Richard Raymond Sr. of Williamstown, Vt.; one son and daughter-in-law,
Frederick and Joyce Bruso of Clarksville, Tenn.; two sisters and
brothers-in-law, Theresa and Kenneth Aldridge of Massena and Shirley
and Olin Fountain of Plattsburgh; many grandchildren; many
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be
no calling hours or funeral services. Burial will be later in the year
in St. Peter's Cemetery.

High Banks
— Mrs. Freda I. Gadway, 90, of the Standish Road died Monday, Feb.
14, 2000, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility.
She was born
in Ellenburg on May 20, 1909, the daughter of the late Fred and Ada
(Welch) Bruso.
Freda was a
member of the High Banks Seventh Day Adventist Church. She enjoyed
crocheting, knitting, sewing and cooking.
She is
survived by two sons, Dr. Ronald Gadway and his wife Judy of South
Royalton, Vt., and Donald Gadway and his wife Lois of High Banks;
three daughters, Penny and Eugene Dickerman of Redford, Joyce and
Roger Windover of High Banks and Sandy and Robert Caster of Saranac;
two brothers, Truman "Jack" Bruso of Plattsburgh and Harley
and Dorothy Bruso of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Leah Gadway of Duane
and Connie Fifield of Schenectady; 23 grandchildren; 29
great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
Freda was
predeceased by her husband, Orville E. Gadway and a son, Wayne Gadway.
Calling hours
will be 2 to 4 p.m. with a funeral service to be held at 4 p.m. at the
Brown Funeral Home, Park Row, Cadyville, with Pastor Gene Thomas
officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Independence
Cemetery in Saranac.

— Uhald G. Favreau, 83, of Johnson Avenue, Plattsburgh, died
Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born
in Mooers Forks on Feb. 5, 1917, son of Delore and Rose (Young)
Favreau.
Ubald
attended St. Patrick's School in Rouses Point. He was a member of Our
Lady of Victory Church where he was a Trustee and had served on the
Parish Council. Ubald was a machinist and had been employed by
Sheridan Iron Works, Imperial Paper Mill and Clinton Auto. He retired
from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1980. He was
still doing machine work from his home.
Ubald is
survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Loretta M. Racine of
Plattsburgh. They were married in St. Mary's Church in Champlain on
May 21, 1938. He is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law,
Mary Anne and Roger Renadette of Plattsburgh and Alice and Charles
Bombard of Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Ann Vogts of Tampa, Fla.,
Georgiana Newman of Chicago, Ill. and Loretta Drollette of
Plattsburgh; four grandchildren, Mark Renadette, Lorrie Stowell, Lisa
Young and Holly Bombard; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
His son,
Richard, died in 1962; three brothers, Eugene, Girard and Paul; and
two sisters, Theresa Rossing and Agnes Webber, also died previously.
Calling hours
will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. from the Brown Funeral
Home in Plattsburgh. A prayer service will be held at 3 p.m. A Mass of

Bear" Matthews

— Jerry Steven "Jer Bear" Matthews, 16, of Route 189,
Churubusco, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center,
Plattsburgh.
Born in
Plattsburgh on June 16, 1983, he was the son of Steven and Marion
(Dupuis) Matthews.
Jerry was in
the junior class at Northern Adirondack Central School in Ellenburg,
where he was taking CV-TEC Class for heavy equipment mechanic. He was
a member of the Churubusco Fire Department Junior Firefighters, the
Key Club at NACS and a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church,
Churubusco. Jerry enjoyed farming, hunting, gardening and
snowmobiling, but most of all, the friendships he had with his
classmates and buddies.
Jerry is
survived by his parents of Churubusco; a brother, Scott, at home;
paternal grandparents, Lester and Marjorie Matthews of Churubusco;
maternal grandmother, Leona Dupuis of Ellenburg Center; paternal
great-grandmother, Lillian Matthews of Churubusco; and many aunts,
uncles and cousins.
His maternal
grandfather, Jerome Dupuis, predeceased him.
Visitation
will be at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be
at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in Immaculate Heart of Mary
Church with Rev. Howard McCasland officiating. Burial will take place
at Immaculate Heart Cemetery, Churubusco, in the spring.

— Ethel Marie "Pat" Arthur, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000.
Ethel was born in Plattsburgh on July 16, 1911, daughter of Charles

survived by a sister, Hazel Kahn of Plattsburgh, and several nieces
and nephews.
Ethel was
predeceased by her husband, Charles "Chic" Arthur.

Louise Catherine Lalla

— Louise Catherine Lalla, 78, formerly of Lightner Drive, Tampa,
Fla, died on Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Meadowbrook Health Care
Facility. Mrs. Lalla was born on March 8, 1922, in New York City, the
daughter of Francis E. and Eileen (Barker) Rascoe.
She married
Louis Lalla October 1958 in Gibraltar. Mr. Lalla died on February 6,
1998. Mrs. Lalla worked as an inspector at the Pal Blade Company
before moving to Tampa, Fla. She then worked as a sales associate for
Belk-Linsey's Department Store in Tampa. She was a member of St.
John's Church in Plattsburgh and St. Patrick's Church in Florida where
she resided previously.
Survivors
include a stepson, Louis W. Lalla of Antelope, Calif; a stepdaughter,
Deborah J. Beal and her husband, Steven of Larkspur, Calif; two
brothers, Kenneth Rascoe and his wife, Wanda of Plattsburgh, and
Herman Rascoe and his wife, Joan of Plattsburgh; two sisters,
Genevieve Bigley and her husband, Vincent of Kensington, Conn, and
Veronica Giguere and her husband, Loren of Plattsburgh; and several
nieces and nephews.

Beatrice Baker
TUPPER LAKE
— Beatrice Priscilla LaRocque Baker, 89, of Tupper Lake, died Sat.
Feb. 12, 2000 at Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital in
Plattsburgh, N.Y.
She was born
on Dec. 31, 1910 in Tupper Lake, the daughter of Villa U. and Rose H.
(Martin) LaRocque. She attended local schools, graduating from Holy
Ghost Academy. She then attended St. Rose College in Albany, N.Y., and
went on to graduate from Marywood College in Pennsylvania in 1933 with
a B.A. in teaching. She returned to Tupper Lake and began her teaching
career at the Tupper Lake High School teaching French and English. She
taught elementary kindergarten for some years and then returned to the
High School.
Beatrice
married Fred C. Baker on July 2, 1941 at St. Alphonsus Church in
Tupper Lake. The couple had met at Tupper Lake High School where he
was also a teacher. They made their home in Tupper Lake. Fred died in
1991.
Beatrice was
a member of the Women’s Golf Interclub & League. She enjoyed
skiing, knitting and sewing, and was an avid bridge player. She also
worked as a volunteer for the Literacy Volunteer program.
She is
survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary Bedard and her
husband Stephen of Plattsburgh, and Ann Prenatt and her husband
William of St. Louis, Mo.; one son, Joseph Baker of Greensboro, N.C.;
and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also
survived by three sisters, Sister Pius (Theresa LaRocque) of Marywood,
Penn., Regina McGill and Mary Hayden, both of Tupper Lake; and two
brothers, Paul LaRocque and Martin LaRocque, both of Tupper Lake. She
was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard and Charles LaRocque and one
sister, Lucille LaRocque.
Calling hours
for Mrs. Baker will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 9:30 a.m. to
11:45 a.m. at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. The funeral Mass
will follow at noon at St. Alphonsus Church with the Rev. Donald
Kramburg officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in May.

(Miller) Langlois.
She is
survived by a sister, Mrs. David (Charlotte) Virzi of Plattsburgh;
three nieces; and one nephew.
She was
predeceased by her husband, Harold V. Jones, who died in 1961. A
bother, Henry M. Langlois, died in 1956.

— Ethel D. "Nan" Amlaw, 97, formerly of Point au Roche,
died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in
Plattsburgh.
She was born
in Rouses Point Feb. 21, 1902, the daughter of Fred and Julia (Young)
Brow.
Ethel lived
in Plattsburgh from 1935 until her death.
She had been
employed by Shubert’s Clothing Store in Plattsburgh for 20 years and
CVPH Medical Center for seven years, retiring in 1973.
Ethel married
Clifford Amlaw in 1929. He died in 1977. A son, Reed Amlaw, died in
1996.
Ethel is
survived by a daughter, Carol Hunter of Bloomingdale; a
daughter-in-law, Suzanne Amlaw of Clinton; four grandchildren, Teri
Monica, Reed "Butch" Amlaw, Lynne Hamilton-Coolidge and
Tonya St. Denis; seven great-grandchildren, Laura, Tara, Therese,
Billy, Jessica, Matthew and Benjamin; and many nieces and nephews.

Lucille Bushey MacGillivray
Plattsburgh — Mrs. Lucille Bushey MacGillivray, 74, of Bushey
Blvd., Plattsburgh, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at the CVPH Medical
Center, after having been recently diagnosed with cancer, surrounded
by her family.
She was born in Bismark, N.D. on April 18, 1925, the adopted
daughter of the late Xavier and Elizabeth (Klug) Heidt. She married
Leo Bushey Dec. 22, 1945.
She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. Lucille was a past
docent for the Kent-Delord House. She enjoyed square dancing, reading,
gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.
Lucille is survived by her children, Marta Taylor, her husband
Peter and their children, Jana and Grant; Daniel Bushey and his wife,
Linda; Richard Bushey, his wife Ann and their daughter, Brynn; Michael
Bushey, his wife Carol and their children, Shawney, Cody, and Devan
Rose; David Bushey, his wife Loyce and their children, Julie and
Melissa; Mary Jo Jubert, her husband Lee and their children, Katie and
Tanner; Jamie Hall, her husband Bobby and their children, Taylor and
Spencer; a son-in-law, Gary Leavine and his children Scott and K'Cee.
She is also survived by her siblings, Marilyn Dickinson, James Heidt
and Nancy Gehring; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and several
nieces and nephews.
Lucille was predeceased by her first husband, Leo Bushey; her
daughters, Barbara Bushey and Elizabeth "Mikey" Leavine; and
her second husband, Hugh MacGillivray.

Esther was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 309,
Peru Ladies Auxillary; a life member of the Champlain Valley Ham Radio
Club; a member of St. Joseph's Church, Treadwells Mills; the Ladies of
St. Joseph's; and the Senior Citizens Club.
Esther is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Loyal and
Florence Lecuyer of Plattsburgh; Francis Lecuyer of St. Thomas, U.S.
Virgin Islands; a daughter and son-in-law, Gabrielle and Jefferson
Dukette of Plattsburgh; a sister, Edna McCafferty of Philadelphia,
Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Loyal Lecuyer; a son, Lawrence
Lecuyer; a grandson, Louis Lecuyer; a granddaughter, Colleen Bonnier;
a great-grandson, Maurice Bonnier; brothers John, Charles and Edwin
Callaway; and a sister, Ethel.
