Philip J. LeBlanc
PLATTSBURGH — Philip J. LeBlanc, 88, of Margaret
Street, Plattsburgh, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at the CVPH Medical
Center.
He was born in Rouses Point on June 8, 1911, the son
of Peter and Melanie (Turgeon) LeBlanc.
Mr. LeBlanc was a member of St. John's Church.
Philip owned and operated a barber shop in Rouses Point from 1930 to
1939. In 1941, he entered the service and served in the Pacific
Theatre of World War II until 1945; in 1946, he became owner and
operator of the City Hall Barber Shop until his retirement in 1978.
Survivors include a close friend, Jacklyn Prairie,
of Plattsburgh.
Two brothers, Roland and Leo LeBlanc and one sister,
Estelle DeCelle, died earlier.
There will be no public calling hours. A funeral
service will be held Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at 1 p.m. in the R.W.
Walker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in the
spring in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Chazy.
EUGENE R. GLADD, 72, of 3
Riverside Drive, Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000 at his
home. He was born May 17, 1927 in Saranac Lake.
Calling hours and services will be private at the
convenience of the family. The Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac
Lake is in charge of arrangements
CHRISTINE WALLACE, 64, of
Kickersville Road, Long Lake died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000 at the
Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Calling hours will be held from 6-9 p.m. on
Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Richer Funeral Home in Tuppper Lake. The
Eastern Star will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service
will be held on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist
Church in Long Lake with Harold Austin officiating. A graveside
service will follow at The Long Lake Cemeteray.

Marie L. Taccia
MORRISONVILLE
— Marie L. Taccia, 87, of Barcomb Avenue, Morrisonville, died
Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was born
in New York City on Aug. 1, 1912, the daughter of Anthony and Lucy
(DeMarinis) Taccia.
Marie
attended St. Catherine Elementary School, St. Catherine Academy High
School, Hunter College and Colombia University. She was a New York
City elementary teacher for over 30 years, retiring in 1989.
Marie was a
member of St. Peter's Church and Altar Rosary Society; Catholic
Daughters of America, Plattsburgh 479; Regina Maria Retreat House;
Senior Citizen’s Council of Clinton County; and the United
Federation of Teachers.
Marie was a
literacy volunteer teacher, an AARP tax volunteer who helped senior
citizens fill out tax forms and a religion teacher for St. Peter's
Church.
Survivors
include one brother, Joseph Taccia and his wife Jo, of Palm Desert,
Calif.; nine nieces, Antoinette Gleason and her husband George,
Barbara Chliek, Lucy Arsics and her husband George, Margaret Hutter
and her husband Walter, Nancy Holston and her husband Bill, Frances
Morrison, Patricia Stephens, Lori Irvin and Gina Schauer; 21
great-nieces and nephews; and 16 great-great-nieces and nephews.
Marie was
predeceased by a sister, Anne Chliek; a nephew, Thomas Chliek; and a
great-niece, Rose Defayette.
Calling hours
will be held Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. W.
Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church. Burial will
be in St. Peter's Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Peter's Church
Memorial Fund.
Laura Goyette
CHAMPLAIN —
Laura Goyette, 96, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at the Cedar Hedge
Nursing Home in Rouses Point.
She was born
in Champlain on Nov. 11, 1903, the daughter of Ledger and Laura
(Lafontaine) Coulombe.
Survivors
include a son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Geraldine Goyette of
Champlain; a brother, Maurice Coulombe of Champlain; four
grandchildren, Michael, Mark and Ricky Goyette and Tina Baker; and six
great-granddaughters.
She was
predeceased by her husband, George, in 1959; a son, Donald; and two
brothers, Fred and Ivan Coulombe.
There will be
no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on
Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Champlain.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of
flowers, donations in her memory may be made in Masses or to the
renovation of St. Mary's Church in Champlain.

Irma J. Wood
FORT JACKSON
— Mrs. Wood passed away Wednesday morning Feb. 9, 2000 at the Uhlein
Mercy Center in Lake Placid where she had been a resident for the past
12 years.
Mrs. Wood was
born August 16,1918 in Parishville, daughter of Glenn and Nina
Copeland Remington. She was raised by John and Edith VanKennan of
Norfolk.
She attended
the local rural schools in Parishville. Irma married Ben Wood on June
9, 1940 in Nicholville.
Mrs. Wood is
survived by two sons, Ross A. and Stephanie Wood of Brant Lake, and
Ernest A. and Susan Wood of Hopkinton; three daughters, Mrs. Robert
(Dolores) Roberts of Glen Falls, Thelma J. Wood of Cassayuna, and Mrs.
Anthony (Nola) Ercole of Willsboro; One brother, Wayne (Louise)
Remington of Mitchell, Ind; One sister, Mrs. Ardis (Mardith) Nelson;
One cousin, Mrs. Wendell (Serena) Carr of Massena and Zephyrhills,
Fla; Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews.
Mrs. Woods
was predeceased by her husband, Ben Wood; one daughter, Joan S.
Hinson; one brother; Glenwood Remington and one sister, Gladys
Snickles.
Mrs. Woods
was a member of the Nicholville Order of the Eastern Star and
Nicholville United Methodist Church. She was a devoted mother,
grandmother and wife. She ejoyed gardening and refinishing furniture
and her family cow.
Her family
has suggested that memorials be given in the form of Donations to
Uihlein Mercy Center of Lake Placid, Potsdam Animal Shelter, Tri-Town
Rescue Squad or the Hopkinton - Ft Jackson Fire Department.
Funeral
services for Mrs. Irma J. Wood will be held Saturday morning at 11
a.m. at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop with the Rev. Roger
Waldron officiating. Friends may call at the Hammill Funeral Home in
Winthrop, Thursday from 7-9 and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9. Burial will
be in the Hopkinton - Ft. Jackson Cemetery .
Minnie M.
WilliamS, 104, of the
Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone, and formerly of the Farrar Home and
West Street, Malone, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at the nursing
home.
She was born
in Malone, April 3, 1895, the daughter of the late Peter and Mellicet
(Supernault) Champagne.
There will be
no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
Saturday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in
the parish cemetery in the spring.
Donations may
be made in her memory to the Alice Hyde Nursing Home Activity Fund.

— Martha Monette, 81, of Rouses Point, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000,
at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born
in Dannemora, on Nov. 27, 1918, the daughter of William and Eva
(Robare) Kehoe.
She was
married to Stanley Monette, who died Jan. 18, 1996.
She was a
member of the Catholic Daughters Court Patricia 962 of Rouses Point
for over 50 years.
Survivors
include a sister, Esther Adams of Altamont; a brother-in-law, Benedict
Chenevert of Rouses Point; six nephews, James Chenevert and his wife
Susan of Rouses Point, Donald Chenevert and his wife Nancy of Rouses
Point, Gary Adams and his wife Linda of Altamont, Larry Adams and his
wife Kathy of Altamont, David Adams and his wife Cindy of Schenectady
and George Adams and his wife Erin of Schenectady; and a niece, Nancy
Chestnut and her husband Danny of Castleton.
In addition
to her husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, Dorothy
Chenevert, who died in 1984.

John Bailey
DANNEMORA —
John Bailey, 82, of Smith Street, Dannemora, died Tuesday, Feb. 8,
2000, at CVPH Medical Center, surrounded by all of his loving family.
John was born
on Aug. 31, 1917, in Pittsfield, Mass., the son of Arthur Hanley and
Mabel Bailey.
John was a
veteran of World War II. John married Barbara Gilroy in Dannemora on
Sept. 6, 1947. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora,
past president of the Lions Club in Dannemora, former president of the
C.S.E.A., former president of St. Joseph's Home and School Club,
former member of the Elks Club and formerly the head of the Dannemora
Youth Commission.
Survivors
include his wife, Barbara Bailey of Dannemora; six daughters and four
sons-in-law, Maureen and Rob Camp of Swanton Vt., Kathleen Valhos
Bailey of Dover Plains, Eileen Overbaugh of Dannemora, Barbara and
Bill LaDuke of Lyon Mountain, Bonnie and Jim Proulx of Dannemora and
Carol and Mike Gibson of Glens Falls; one brother, Earl Smith of Ft.
Myers, Fla.; one sister, Marie Farrands of Rhode Island; nine
grandchildren, Jeremy and Ryan LaDuke, Jonathan and Jessica Proulx,
Stefanie Gibson, Nick Valhos, Sean Conley and Michael and Kristin
Camp.
He was
predeceased by one son, John Jr.; two brothers, Donald Hanley and
Francis Bailey; and one sister, Eileen West.

Howard C. Marsha
Waterford,
Pa. — Howard C. Marsha, 58, of Waterford, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 7,
2000, at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
He was born
in Buffalo and graduated from Sweet Home High School in Amherst. Mr.
Marsha spent 25 years as an animal control officer and manager of the
Elmore SPCA in Peru, from 1972 to 1997.
He served in
the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1969, stationed in Germany, Korea and
Vietnam. He belonged to the Disabled American Veterans Post 20 in
Plattsburgh, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
1505 in Keeseville.
Survivors
include his wife, Patricia A. (Rossney) Marsha of Waterford, Pa.; one
son, Todd K. Marsha of Henrietta; one sister, Marcia and her husband
Richard Challgren of Cheektowaga; three brothers, Lawrence and his
wife Elaine Marsha of Lancaster, John and his wife Linda Marsha of
Boynton Beach, Fla., and Terrance and his wife Susan Marsha of Orchard
Park; his goddaughter. Courtney Marsha; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours
will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zurbrick-Amigone
Funeral Home, 5615 Broadway, Lancaster. Funeral services will be held
Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial in Mt. Calvary
Cemetery. A disabled veteran, Mr. Marsha will be accorded full
military honors from the U.S. Army.

Fla. — Lawrence (Jim) Leonard Bouvia, of El Sol Avenue, Zephyrhills,
Fla., died Feb. 3, 2000. He was born June 15, 1930 in Plattsburgh.
Mr. Bouvia
retired from Imperial Paper Company after 40 years of service. He was
a member of the Loyal Order of Moose 2390, Plattsburgh. He attended
St. Joseph Church of Zephyrhills, Fla.
He is
survived by his wife, Eleanor (June) (Doucette) Bouvia; four sons and
three daughters-in-law, Lawrence P. Bouvia of Andover, Mass., Robert
L. and Mary Bouvia, Plattsburgh, Steven M. and Deborah Bouvia of
Knoxville, Tenn. and James M. and Deborah Bouvia of Macon, Ga.; a
brother, Arthur Bouvia of Plattsburgh; a sister, Shirley (Bouvia)
Santo of Plattsburgh; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was
predeceased by an infant son, Mark J. Bouvia, in 1954.
A memorial
service will be held at the Spanish Trails West Clubhouse,
Zephyrhills, Fla. on Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at 1 p.m.

Yvon A. St. Hilaire
North Fort
Myers, Fla. — Yvon A. St. Hilaire, 64, of North Fort Myers, Fla.,
passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, unexpectedly. He was born in
Lisbon, N.H. on Sept. 8, 1935.
He graduated
from Lyndon Institute in Lyndon Center, Vt. and then joined the U.S.
Air Force, where he served for four years. He attended U.V.M. College
and joined the U.S. Border Patrol. He graduated from the Federal Law
Enforcement Training Center and spent eight years with the U.S. Border
Patrol before transferring to U.S. Immigration Service for 24 years.
He retired with a total of 36 years of service and received many
prestigious awards presented throughout his career.
He was a
member of the American Legion and the National Association of Retired
Federal Employees
He was the
son of Edmund St. Hilaire and Diana Dion of Lyndon Center, Vt., where
he met and married Joyce A. Hartigan on Jan. 1, 1955. His employment
with the federal government took them to several places throughout the
country, after which, they retired in Alburg, Vt. and North Fort
Myers, Fla.
He is
survived by his wife Joyce; a daughter-in-law, Susan of Rouses Point;
a son, James and wife Donna of Oceanside, Calif.; a daughter, Donna of
Vista, Calif.; and a daughter, Lisa (Steadman) and husband Brian of
Cornwall, Vt. He is also survived by eight grandchildren as follows:
Erin, Bryan, Heather, Hilairy, Eric, Kaley, Corey and Amy. He was from
a family of ten siblings and is survived by seven brothers and
sisters.
He was
predeceased by his son, Gary Y. St. Hilaire; a brother, Odoric; and a
sister, Lellianne.
A funeral
service will be conducted at the North Fort Myers Memorial Funeral
Home on Feb. 9, 2000. A burial service will be held for family and
friends in Rouses Point in the month of July, the date to be
announced.
The family
would prefer memorial contributions be made to any Shriners Hospital
for Children in memory of Yvon A. St. Hilaire.
Jane E. Neddo Newell
Ticonderoga
— Jane E. Neddo Newell, 78, of the Baldwin Road in Ticonderoga died
on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at the Glens Falls Hospital following a
brief illness.
She was born
in Ticonderoga on Nov. 29, 1921, the daughter of Roscoe and Jennie
(McKiernan) Carey.
A lifelong
resident of Ticonderoga, she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in
Ticonderoga.
She is
survived by two sons, Thomas and his wife Linda Neddo of Crown Point
and Daniel and his wife Wanda Neddo of Ticonderoga; one daughter, Ann
and her husband Rod Moore of Ticonderoga; four grandchildren, Ronnie
Neddo, Teresa Neddo, Thomas Neddo and Travis Moore; and one
great-grandchild, Philip Neddo.
She is
predeceased by her two husbands, Spencer Neddo and Edgar Newell; and
two brothers, Thomas and James Carey.

will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

William Rutherford Jr.
Bloomingdale
— William Rutherford Jr., age 82, of Prospect Avenue, Bloomingdale,
died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac
Lake.
Born in
Locksprings, Mo. on April 21, 1917, he was the son of William and Lela
Rutherford.
Mr.
Rutherford enlisted in the U.S. Army in May of 1942. He served in the
79th Division in the European Theater from Normandy to Czechoslovakia.
He received four campaign stars and Bronze Star Medal with cluster and
retired Lt. Col. AUS.
Mr.
Rutherford graduated from Central Methodist College with an A.B.
degree and from the University of Michigan with a BSF and a M.F. He
was Head of the Forestry Department at Paul Smith’s College for 32
years. Mr. Rutherford was a life member of the Northern Loggers
Association and a fellow Golden Member, Society of American Foresters.
He was a member of the Saranac Lake Masonic Lodge and of the First
United Methodist Church of Saranac Lake. He was an active volunteer in
a number of organizations.
He is
survived by his wife Louise (Beall) Rutherford of Bloomingdale, whom
he married in August of 1946 in Buffalo, Ala.; two sons, William A. of
Houston, Texas and David of Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Linda
Cunningham of Ticonderoga; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
and one sister, Phoebe Gilmour of Bonita Springs, Fla.
There will be
no calling hours. A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. on
Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church of
Saranac Lake with Rev. William Neil officiating. Interment services
will take place at the convenience of the family.
Funeral

Lake.

— Andrew Colin Ross, one-month-old infant son of Colin Ross and
Shawna Goewey of Champlain Avenue in Ticonderoga died Sunday, Feb. 6,
2000, at the Moses Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga.
Besides his
parents, he is survived by paternal grandparents, Douglas Ross of
Crown Point and Sandy Ross of Crown Point; maternal grandparents,
Edward and Michelle Jordon of Ticonderoga; and one brother, Marick of
Ticonderoga.
Funeral
services will be private. Burial will be in the Crown Point
Congregational Cemetery in the spring.

HAMMILL, 57, of Elm Street, Malone, died Feb. 6, 2000, at the
Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. He was born in Malone, Oct. 6,
1942, the son of the late Ernest and Beatrice (Richards) Hammill.

Messina Kelly Kilburn
AUSABLE FORKS — Messina Kelly Kilburn, 97, died
Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at the home of Cecile McCarthy, Peru, who cared
for her the past six years.
Born in 1902 in Santa Marina, a rural village near
Rome, Italy, she was the daughter of Tom and Lucy Chasolen.
Five years after her birth, she came to the United
States with her family. They settled in AuSable Forks, where her
father worked at the Rogers Paper Company until his retirement.
Messina attended AuSable Forks Central School and
graduated from Albany Business College.
She married James McDonald in 1924. He died in
1927. In 1929, she married Bernard Kelley, who died in 1959. In 1967,
she married Basil Kilburn and lived for 61 years in the Jersey section
of AuSable Forks. He died on January 27, 1997.
She is survived by four children, Eleanor Wardell
of AuSable Forks, Sister Marie Cordata Kelly, SSJ, of Plattsburgh,
Bernard Kelly of Essex, William Kelley of Schenectady; two sisters,
Mary Hynes and Ida Longtemps, both of AuSable Forks; 10 grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous
nieces and nephews.
She worked for many years at the AuSable Grocery
Co., later known as Kelly’s IGA, owned by her husband, Bernard J.
Kelley. After his death, she worked for a time at the North Pole and
was manager of the Army/Navy Store in AuSable Forks.
She was a member of Holy Name Church in AuSable
Forks, where she was an active parishioner and supportive of the
church in many ways.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at
Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at
Holy Name Church.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers,
donations be made to Holy Name School.
SARA E. LEHMANN, 69, of Route 9, Chazy, died
Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at her home.
She was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 26, 1930, the
daughter of Randal and Marjorie (Saxe) McCullough.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the
R.W. Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsburgh. Burial will be in New
Hampshire at a later date.
Donations in her memory may be made to the
Champlain Memorial Library.
HAROLD E. LAVIGNE, 80, of Overlook Apartments,
Bloomingdale, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Fletcher Allen Health
Care Center in Burlington, Vt.
Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Wednesday at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.
The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at
the funeral home, with the Rev. William Neil officiating. Burial will
be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in May.

Garry R. Robbins
Keene, N.H. — Garry R. Robbins, 70, of 65 Rule
Street, Keene, N.H., died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at Cheshire
Medical Center in Keene, N.H.
He was born in Ticonderoga, June 2, 1929, son of
the late Claude and Bessie (Gladd) Robbins.
He served in the New York National Guard for many
years and was in the quartermaster corps. He had lived in Keene since
1974.
Mr. Robbins was a journeyman printer and had worked
for American Stratford and the Book Press in Brattleboro for 12 years,
retiring in 1990. He had been a foreman at the Ticonderoga Sentinel
for 25 years. He also owned Pica & Points in Keene and R&R
Hotdog stand in Ticonderoga.
Mr. Robbins was an accomplished carpenter and World
War II authority. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and
organized a men’s barbershop group; he was a member of Elks Lodge
1494, all in Ticonderoga. In Keene, he was a member of the Loyal Order
of Moose. He held a pilot’s license and was a member of the local
flying club.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Marilyn
(Kalland) of Keene; a son, Christopher E. Betts of Keene; two
daughters, Leslie Anderson of Crown Point and Julie Weisberg of
Harrisville; three sisters, Norma Broadwell of Morrisonville, Ruth
Beauchamp of Cohoes and Janice Robbins of Crown Point; five
grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Gerald and
LeRoy of Ticonderoga and two sisters, Pauline Coley of Ticonderoga and
Beatrice Smith of Cohoes.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Fletcher
Funeral Home, Keene.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers,
contributions be made in Mr. Robbins’ memory to the Monadrock Humane
Society, P.O. Box 678, West Swanzey, N.H. 03469.
Viola M. Chartier
Saranac — Viola M. Chartier, 77, died Friday,
Feb. 4, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Standish on Nov. 28, 1922, the
daughter of Jessie and Laurel (Lamoy) Strock.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She also enjoyed crochet, bingo, puzzles and reading.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law,
Lawrence and Teresa Chartier of Saranac; two daughters and
sons-in-law, Viola and Norman Collins of Plattsburgh and Judith and
Earl Tibodeau of Waterford; two brothers, Vey Strock and Lionel
Strock, both of Troy; a sister, Mrs. Ted (Carolyn) Cave of Lake
Placid; a sister-in-law, Juel; seven grandsons; a granddaughter; 15
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Alfred Chartier, died on Feb. 15,
1969. Three brothers, Clinton, Jessie and Peter Strock; and two
sisters, Ruth Ruppert and Emerald "Betty" Airington, also
died earlier.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial services
will be held in the spring.
The O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in
Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to the Fitzpatrick
Cancer Center.
Robert J. Taylor
PLATTSBURGH — Robert J. Taylor, 58, of Wallace
Hill Road, formerly of Saranac, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at CVPH
Medical Center. He was born on March 2, 1941, the son of Martin and
Florence (Helm) Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was a Vietnam army veteran. He was a
member of the Local Laborers Union and worked in the construction
field in Northern New York from 1958 until retiring in 1996. He was a
member of the Conklins Pond Hunting Club, the Laborers Local 186, and
the Lyon Mountain American Legion.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Beth Taylor
of Saranac and Bobbie Jo Taylor of Plattsburgh; five stepdaughters,
Shiela Wright of Fredrickburg, Va., Mrs. Chris (Sallie) Heckard of
Plattsburgh, Mrs. Richard (Diane) Coss of Beekmantown, Mrs. Norman
(Sharon) Lapoint of Dannemora and Mrs. Richmond (Betty) Clark of
Harkness; three brothers, Martin and Nancy Taylor of Unitilla, Fla.,
William Taylor of Schroon Lake and Norman and Angela Taylor of
Saranac; three sisters, Mrs. Edward (Betty) Chartier of Saranac, Mrs.
Wayne (Meridith) Staley of Saranac and Shirley Dubray of Albany; ten
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother, George Taylor,
and one sister, Adelaide Pray.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000,
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in
Plattsburgh. The Lyon Mountain American Legion will conduct a service
at 7:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday
at 10 a.m. in the Assumption of Mary Church in Redford.
Donations in his memory may be made to the American
Heart Association.
Sara E. Lehmann
CHAZY — Sara E. Lehmann, 69, of Route 9, Chazy,
died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at her home. She was born in Plattsburgh
on Dec. 26, 1930, the daughter of Randal and Marjorie (Saxe)
McCullough.
Mrs. Lehmann attended the Chazy Presbyterian Church
and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was a graduate of Chazy Central High School in
1949 and Green Mountain College in Vermont in 1951. Mrs. Lehmann lived
in Vermont and New Hampshire most of her life, returning to Chazy in
1991. She was the librarian at the Champlain Memorial Library in
Champlain from 1991 until her death.
Survivors include one son, Stephen Knox and his
wife Linda, of Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H.; one daughter, Mrs. Harry
(Susan) Direen of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one brother, Hugh
McCullough and his wife Jean of Chazy; and six grandchildren,
Christopher Knox of Orlando, Fla., Michael Knox, Jennifer Knox and
Michelle Knox, all of Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H., Randal Direen and
James Direen, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Private calling hours will be held at the
convenience of the family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10
a.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in New
Hampshire at a later date.
Donations may be made to the Champlain Memorial
Library in her memory.
Lawrence (Jim) Leonard Bouvia
Zephyrhills, Fla. — Lawrence (Jim) Leonard
Bouvia, of El Sol Avenue, Zephyrhills, Fla., died Feb. 3, 2000. He was
born June 15, 1930 in Plattsburgh.
Mr. Bouvia retired from Imperial Paper Company
after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose
2390, Plattsburgh. He attended St. Joseph Church of Zephyrhills, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (June)
(Doucette) Bouvia; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Lawrence P.
Bouvia of Andover, Mass., Robert L. and Mary Bouvia, Plattsburgh,
Steven M. and Deborah Bouvia of Knoxville, Tenn. and James M. and
Deborah Bouvia of Macon, Ga.; a brother, Arthur Bouvia of Plattsburgh;
a sister, Shirley (Bouvia) Santo of Plattsburgh; nine grandchildren;
and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by an infant son, Mark J.
Bouvia, in 1954.
A memorial service will be held at the Spanish
Trails West Clubhouse, Zephyrhills, Fla. on Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at
1 p.m.

Irene J. (Samonek) Tuxford
SyLvania, Ohio — Mrs. Irene J. (Samonek) Tuxford,
of Sylvania, 0hio, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at the age of 83.
She was born in Detroit, Mich., where she lived for
37 years, before moving to California for 45 years, and recently moved
to Sylvania, Ohio to live with her son.
She was a member of the P.N.A. and OES 203 Sequoia
Chapter in Menlo Park, Calif., where she served as a past matron. She
also volunteered at local hospitals and supervised on election boards.
Surviving are her sons, Conrad Samonek of Sylvania,
Ohio, Bob Samonek of Fremont, Calif. and Jerry Samonek of Euless,
Texas; a daughter, Joyce Samonek of Chazy; 14 grandchildren; 33
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sisters and one brother.
Services were private in Toledo, Ohio.

Harold L. Clausen
West Chazy — Mr. Harold L. Clausen, 72, of Route
22 died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 30, 1927, the
son of the late Charles and Linnie (Pardy) Clausen Sr.
Harold retired from Georgia Pacific in 1990, after
31 years of service. He was a veteran of Korea, serving in the U. S.
Army. Harold was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Harold is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary
(Clarke) Clausen of West Chazy; one son and a daughter-in-law, Edward
and Linda Clausen of West Chazy; seven daughters and three
sons-in-law, Connie and Emil Martin of West Chazy, Janet and Vance
Daunheimer of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Carol and Dickie Brown of
Plattsburgh, Diana Clausen and her fiance, Don Zimmers, of
Plattsburgh, Donna Clausen and her fiance, Gilbert LaValley, of
Plattsburgh, Barbara Clausen of Chazy and Joyce Clausen of West Chazy;
a sister, Dorothy Rogers of Plattsburgh; a brother and his companion,
Glen Clausen and Patricia Skelton of Plattsburgh; 11 grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Harold was predeceased by three brothers, Charles,
Gerald and Carl; and three sisters, Vera, Florence and Effie.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be
held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Weslyan Church in West Chazy.

DOROTHY M. KOUPASH, 71, of Mill Street, Burke, died Thursday,
Feb. 3, 2000, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center. She was born June 30,
1928, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Charles and Margaret Hissiger
Curtis.
Calling hours will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. at St.
Mary-Murphy Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. George’s Church, Burke, with the
Rev. William Edwards officiating. Spring burial will be in the parish
cemetery.
