Marie J. Sharrow
WITHERBEE — Marie J.
Sharrow, 78, a life-long resident of Witherbee, and recently of Robert
Gardens South, Queensbury, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000 at St. Mary’s
Hospital, Troy, after a long illness. She was born Jan. 11, 1922 in
Witherbee, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Vartuli) Corbo.
She married Chester J.
Sharrow on Dec. 13, 1942 in Witherbee.
She was predeceased by her
son, David Sharrow, and her brother, Joseph Corbo.
Survivors beside her husband
of 57 years include, two daughters, Emma Kay Blair and her husband,
Kenneth of Clifton Park, and Donna Anderson and her husband, Wayne, of
Raleigh, N.C. Her son, Michael J. Sharrow, and his wife, Allison, of
South Glens Falls. Four grandchildren, Amy Blair Styslinger, and her
husband, James, of Houston, Texas, Kenneth Blair, and his wife,
Michelle of Glenmont, Michael and David Sharrow of South Glens Falls.
She is also survived by three
sisters, Rachel Strazza and Catherine Tagariello of Queensbury and
Elizabeth Goodspeed of Port Henry. Three brothers, Nicholas Corbo of
Rensselaer, Michael Corbo of Middle Village, and Francis Corbo of
Essex Junction, Vt.
A funeral mass will be
celebrated Monday, Jan. 24, 2000 at 10 a.m. from St. Patrick’s
Church, Port Henry. Rev. Michael Toth is officiating Friends and
relatives may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday Jan. 23, 2000 at the
Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. Spring burial will be in St.
Patricks Cemetery, Port Henry.
Virginia Van Patten
SCOTIA — After living in three centuries,
Virginia Van Patten, 101, of Concord Street, Scotia, died Jan. 21,
2000 at the Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs, after a long
illness. She was born March 6, 1898 to Eugene and Laura (McGuire)
Couchey in Westport.
Virginia had been a Scotia resident for
many years. She was a graduate of Plattsburgh State Teacher’s
College, retiring from the profession in 1955 after teaching at
Schalamont High School in Schenectady for 20 years. Her prior
employment included Bellrose Grade School in Belrose L.I., Mt.
Pleasant High School and Washington Irving High School. She belonged
to Beugendahl Eastern Star, Scotia and Daughters of the Americas,
Scotia.
Mrs. Van Patten was fond of animals and
crocheting. In 1998 President Reagan acknowledged her 90th birthday
with a flag which was flown onver the White House for her birthday.
Mrs. Van Patten was a devote Methodist and belonged to the Scotia
Methodist Church.
She is predeceased by her husband, Carl Van
Patten, Sept. 1973, her parents; her brothers, Alec Couchey, George
Couchey, Nelson Couchey and Lester Couchey; her sisters, Frances
Suits, Rena James, Evelyn (Billie) Benware, Edna Dempster, Ellen
Merro, and Jospehine McGowan.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Carol
Rathbun of Ballston Spa, five grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Monday, Jan. 24, 2000
from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mevec Funeral Home, Ballston
Spa. Methodist Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 24,
2000 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Whallons Bay Cemetery
in Essex in the spring.

Virginia T. Gonyea
PLATTSBURGH —Virginia T. Gonyea, 85, of
17 Tom Miller Road died on Friday, Jan. 21, 2000 at the CVPH Medical
Center. She was born in Plattsburgh on April 6, 1914, the daughter of
Louis M. and Ida M. (Brault) Masella.
She married Victor N. Gonyea on June 14,
1935 at Our Lady of Victory Church. Mr. Gonyea died Feb. 28, 1996.
Mrs. Gonyea was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne M. Gonyea
of Morrisonville and New Port Richey, Fla., and James C. Gonyea and
his wife, Pam of New Port Richey, Fla.; one daughter, Marilyn M.
Niland and her husband, Peter. A. of Washingtonville; one brother,
John Masella and his wife, Kathleen of Plattsburgh; a sister, June
Parker and her husband, Robert of Plattsburgh; three grandchildren,
Leslie Tanneberger of St. Albans, Vt., Lisa Sherman of New Port
Richey, Fla., Korie Gonyea of Palm Harbor, Fla.; three great -
grandchildren, Kassandra Sherman of New Port Richey, Fla., Matthew
Tanneberger and Alicia Tanneberger of St. Albans, Vt. and several
nieces and nephews.
A brother, Roswell Masella, and a sister,
Mary Masella died earlier.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 7
to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home with funeral services to be
held at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St.
Peter's Cemetery in the spring.

Reginald F. Joyal
Harkness —
Reginald F. Joyal, 74, of Harkness, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at
his home while under the care of his family and Hospice of the North
Country.
He was born
in Vergennes, Vt., Nov. 26, 1925, the son of Loren and Mabel (Keyes)
Joyal.
He served in
the Army from 1944 to 1946 and was in the European Operations during
World War II. Reginald married the former Gertrude Louise Thompson,
Nov. 5, 1949. A celebration was held for their 50th anniversary in
1999. He traveled all over as the Assistant Director of the Brigadier
Drum and Bugle Corp.
He was a
correction officer having retired from the Dannemora Correctional
Facility following 26 years of service.
He was a
member of the Keeseville Fire Department for 25 years, the Clinton
County Fire Police Association, and served as captain of the fire
police for several years. A member and vice-president of Essex County
Fire Police Association, chairman of fire prevention at KVFD for
several years, working with daycare centers and head start and
Keeseville Elementary School. Member of the Keeseville VFW Post 1505,
President of the Keeseville Field Day Association, and was parade
chairman for many years.
He was a
member of the Harkness United Methodist Church. Served as trustee and
member of the administrative council. Served as lay delegate to Troy
Annual corderence for Keeseville and Harkness United Methodist
Churches for several years. For many years, he was chairman of the
Harkness Cemetery Association. Member of the Keeseville Senior Citizen
Club, and the AuSable Valley Senior Citizen Drop-In Center, to which
he served as vice president. Past Chairman of the Town of AuSable
Grievance Board.
His hobby was
woodworking and he enjoyed making toys for children, Adirondack Lawn
Chairs, and baby cradles for his grandchildren.
Survivors
include his wife, Gertrude Joyal of Harkness; two sons and one
daughter-in-law, George and Brenda Joyal of Morrisonville, and Robert
and his companion; Jennette Hoy of Peru; four daughters and three
sons-in-law, Candace and Harley Roberts of Concord, N.C., Deborah
Joyal of Keeseville, Trudy and Rodney Hall of Albany, and Patricia and
Charles Anzalone of Kannapolis, N.C.; 13 grandchildren, Charles, Kyle,
Tamara, and Albert Roberts, Kenneth Joyal, Mallory Valk, Wallace and
Ann Hall, Christopher Joyal and Candace Joyal, and Jessica, Nicole,
and Stephanie; one great-grandchild, Andrew Roberts; one uncle,
Orville (Jack) Keyes; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother,
Adrian Joyal, and one sister, Betty Rondeau, predeceased him.
Calling hours
will be held Friday, Jan. 21, 2000 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A funeral service will be held
Saturday, at 11 a.m. at the Harkness United Methodist Church, with
Rev. Dr. Campbell C. Laker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the
spring in the Harkness Cemetery.

Keeseville Fire Department.
Wilfred K.
"Maynard" Rougier
CHAZY —
Wilfred K. "Maynard" Rougier, 71, of 98 Ratta Road died
Thursday Jan. 20, 2000 on Route 191 in Altona. He was born in
Plattsburgh on July 15, 1928 the son of Elmo and Marguerite (Chagnon)
Rougier.
Mr. Rougier
married Helen Sanger in Plattsburgh on April 23, 1950.
He served in
the U.S. Marine Corps in the early 1950's. He then worked on area
construction sites, including Plattsburgh A.F.B., Interstate 87 and
the missile sites.
For several
years he was a boat mechanic for Haylet Marine at Point au Roche, and
their successors, and later with the Day Brothers of Plattsburgh.
He was a
member of the White Tail Deer Hunting Club and formerly a member of
the Moose Club.
Survivors
include his wife, Helen; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Edmund
and Sue Rougier of Chazy and Maynard Owen Rougier of San Jose, Calif.;
one daughter and son-in-law, Melinda Mae and Gary Moreau of Whitby,
Ontario, Canada; one brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Annette
Rougier of West Chazy; one sister, Mary Rougier of Fall River, Mass.;
six grandchildren, Danny and Nichole Rougier of Chazy, Jared and
Miranda Rougier of San Jose, Calif. and Jason and Brian Moreau of
Whitby, Ontario, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.
One son,
Michael Anthony Rougier, died in 1979.
Calling hours
will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker
Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services at the funeral home
chapel will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Ingraham
Cemetery in the Spring.

Mrs. Mary
Ellen Gerrish, 70, of
227 State Highway 72, Potsdam, died Jan. 18, 2000. Born Feb. 25, 1929
in the Town of Lawrence, she was the daughter of James and Josephine
(Wells) Calnon.
Funeral
services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 22, at Holy Cross
Church, Hopkinton. Rev. John Demo of Holy Cross Church and Rev. John
Kennehan of St. Mary's Church, Potsdam will officiate. Burial will be
in the spring in St. Mary's Cemetery, Potsdam. Friends may call at the
Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam on Thursday evening and on Friday
afternoon and evening.
Gertrude H.
Newell, 85, of Hague
Road, Ticonderoga, died on Jan. 19, 2000 at the Fletcher Allen Health
Care in Burlington, Vt. She was born on June 19, 1914, in Crown Point,
the daughter of the late Patrick and Jane (O'Rourke) Bradshaw.
There will be
no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10
a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000 at the Sacred Heart Church in Crown
Point, with the Rev. William Muench officiating. Burial will follow in
the spring.

Darrell Stone, 74, of
the Franklin County Nursing Home and formerly of Whippleville, died
Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000 at that facility. Born March 25, 1925 in
Malone, he was the son of Hermon and Mary (Dupree) Stone.

79, of Shamrock Hill Road died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000 at the Moses -
Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga. She was born Sept. 25, 1920 in
Hanover, Pa.

2000 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga.

John R. Brown, Sr.
Sciota —
John R. Brown, Sr., 75, of Route 22, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000 at
the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. John was born in Burlington,
Vermont on Nov. 19, 1924, son of John and Irene (Curtis) Brown.
John was
employed by North American Philips Corporation for over 30 years,
retiring in 1989. John was a veteran of World War II, serving in the
European Theater as a member of the United States Army, receiving
numerous awards including the Purple Heart. John was a member of
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1418 in Champlain and a former member of
Knights of Columbus Council in Mooers Forks.
John is
survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Blanche M. Delano of
Sciota; two sons, John R. Brown, Jr., of Sciota, Brooke W. Brown of
Burlington, Vt.; one daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Scott LaBarge
of Sciota; eight grandchildren, Tara Hemingway, Kristi LaBarge, Ashley
LaBarge, Jennifer Brown, Ryan Brown, Anthony Brown, Ethan Brown and
Paige Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
John was
predeceased by his sister, Betty Shaffery.
Calling hours

Gerald D. Cross, Sr.
Chazy Lake
— Mr. Gerald D. Cross, Sr., 78, of the Wilfred King Rd. died Tuesday
Jan. 18, 2000 at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Essex, NY on
Dec. 30, 1921 the son of the late Gordon and Iva May (Crowningshield)
Cross.
Gerald was a
veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army. He received numerous medals
for valor including three Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. Gerald
was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 179. He was a
farmer and later worked for G & G Tire Co. in Plattsburgh. Gerald
enjoyed gardening and reading.
Gerald was
predeceased by his wife Violet L. Cross Aug. 13, 1996.
He is
survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Andrew and Ollie
LaPorte of Alberta, Canada, Gerald and Lisa Cross Jr. of
Morrisonville, Bryon and Laurie Cross of Dannemora; five daughters and
three sons-in-law, Eleanor and Bill Light of West Chazy, Sally Souza
of Chazy Lake, Sandra Ashcroft of Peru, Laurie and Chico Wilson of
Cadyville, Tammy and Walter Stark of Barton; three brothers and three
sisters-in-law, Silas and Pauline Cross of Lewis, Friend and Virginia
Cross of Willsboro, David and Clara Cross of Cooperstown; one sister,
Betsy Muzzy of Burnt Hills; 16 grandchildren; several
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition
to his wife, Gerald was predeceased by two brothers, Jefferson Cross
and Herbert Cross; and one sister, Cella Patnode.

Lucas C. Morrow, 2 months, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000 at the CVPH
Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born
in Plattsburgh on Nov. 16, 1999, the son of Charles Morrow and Melinda
Gardner.
He is
survived by his parents of Dannemora, his maternal grandparents,
Eldoris and Doris Gardner of Saranac; his paternal grandparents,
Donald and Brenda Morrow of West Chazy; his maternal
great-grandmother, Margaret Gardner of Syracuse; his godparents,
Meagan Liberty of Redford and Nick Tamer of Cadyville and several
aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be
no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11
a.m. Saturday from the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Burial
will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

Adrienne Beaudin
Chateaugay
— Adrienne Beaudin, 82, of River St., Chateaugay died Monday Jan.
17, 2000 at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, where she had been a
patient since Nov. 9, 1999. Born in St. Antoine Abbe, Que. on March
14, 1917, she was the daughter of Hermas and Rose (Provost) Yelle.
She was
married to Ivan Beaudin on July 26, 1938 in St. Antoine Abbe, Que. He
predeceased her on Nov. 7, 1989.
Mrs. Beaudin
is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Gilles and Evelyn
Beaudin of Chateaugay, Marc and Vicki Beaudin of Winthrop, Gary and
Renne Beaudin of Plattsburgh, Michael and Kathy Beaudin of Chateaugay;
two daughters and sons-in-law, Henrietta and Vance Smith of
Chateaugay, Colleen and John Beckett of Chateaugay; two brothers and
sisters-in-law, Gerald and Henrietta Yelle of Massena, Geston and
Vivian Yelle of Churubusco; two sisters, Mary Paul Raminllard of
Montreal, P.Q., Odette Trombley of Valleyfield, P.Q.; 17
grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Those that
preceded in death were her husband, a daughter; Nicole Glennon; a son;
Yves Beaudin, several sisters and brothers.
Mrs Beaudin
moved to the United States in 1946, she was employed by Tru-Stitch
Dress Factory, Malone for 15 years retiring in 1979. She loved working
in her garden.
She was a
communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay and the Altar and
Rosary Society.
Visitation
will be at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 19 from 2-4 and
7-9 with a prayer vigil at 3 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m.
on Thursday Jan. 20, 2000 in St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Fay Ager
officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery,
Chateaugay in the spring.

Mooers Forks
— Mrs. Hazel M. Young, 79, of Miller St. in Plattsburgh died Monday
Jan. 17, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Mooers Forks. She was
born in Cadyville on Oct. 5, 1920, the daughter of John and Maude
(Rule) Provost.
She was a
member of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. She had worked for
Mercury Industries in Plattsburgh. She worked at Longs Laundry. She
enjoyed bowling.
She is
survived by two daughters, Carolyn Jones of Mooers Forks, Theresa
LaFlair, of Syracuse; two sons, Lloyd Young, of Denver, Colo., Wayne
Young, of Plattsburgh; three sisters, Beatrice Thomas, of Plattsburgh,
Lucille Daniels, of Plattsburgh, and Pauline Chagnon, of Plattsburgh.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, and three
great-grand-children and several nieces and nephews.
She was
predeceased by her husband, George Young, who died in 1989.

Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be

Theresa (Pawlack) Diedrich
Hoyle
Plattsburgh
— Mrs. Theresa (Pawlack) Diedrich Hoyle, 80, of Elm St., died Monday
Jan. 17, 2000 at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Jacobs
Creek, Pa. on June 13, 1919, the daughter of Leon and Euphemia (Anna
Markovic) Pawlack.
Mrs. Hoyle
was a graduate of Ambridge, Pennsylvania High School Class of 1937 and
attended the Robert Morris School of Business in Pittsburgh, Pa. She
worked in Detroit at the Hudson Motor Car Company Human Resources
Department. She married William C. Diedrich of Crafton, Pa. on Jan.
20, 1946 in Eric, Pa. and they moved to Niagara Falls in 1946. Mr.
Diedrich died in 1961. Employed as a secretary at Bell Aerosystems,
Hooker Chemical Corp., Carborundum and Moore Business Forms, she
earned the Manpower Tiffany Award for excellence in service. She
married G. E. "'Ted" Hoyle Oct. 22, 1977. He died in 1981.
She attended the Messiah Lutheran Church and was Past President of the
Lewiston Service Guild. Mrs. Hoyle may be remembered for her annual
presentation of the "Miss Congeniality" award at the
Lewiston Peach Queen Finals. This award was given in memory of her
husband, Ted Hoyle who was known as "Mr. Congeniality'' to the
Lewiston Kiwanis Club. Mrs. Hoyle enjoyed gardening, reading, current
events and had been a member of the Sweet Adelines. While living in
Lewiston, she had been giving much hope and encouragement to members
of her cancer survivor group, Niagara Oncology Association.
She had made
her home here in Plattsburgh since May 1999.
Survivors
include three daughters, Donna Diedrich Carr of Kannapolis, N.C., Ruth
Diedrich Biehl of Los Angeles, Calif., Kathy Diedrich Baumgarten of
Plattsburgh; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one niece
and four nephews. nephews.
She was
predeceased by a sister, Julia Pastrick and a brother, John Pawlack.
Calling hours
will be Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home
Plattsburgh followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m. Interment will be
held at a later date at the Chartiers Cemetery in Carnegie, Pa.

Plattsburgh
— Mrs. Ruth S. Wood, 87, of Court St. died Monday Jan. 17, 2000 at
her home. She was born in Syracuse on June 23, 1912 the daughter of
the late William Payne and Alice B. Smith.
Ruth was a
teacher who had retired from the Plattsburgh City School District. She
was the widow of Claude Wood who died in 1985. Ruth was a member of
St. John's Church.
She is
survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, David and Elaine Wood of
Plattsburgh; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Claudia and Jon
Baldwin of Branchport, Barbara and David Paschke of Stow, Mass.; a
daughter-in-law, Alice Wood of Exeter, N.H.; eight grandchildren; and
two great-grandchildren.
She was
predeceased by a son, John Wood; and two brothers, Arthur Smith and
Raymond Smith.
Calling hours
will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p. m. at the Brown Funeral Home,
Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Thursday 12 noon at the
Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at a later date in St.
Alexanders Cemetery in Morrisonville.

Mrs. Ruth
Boynton Bradshaw, 78, passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000 at the
Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid where she had resided since May
10, 1999. She was born in Port Henry Aug. 7, 1921.
There are no
calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000
at 4 p.m. at St Eustace Episoopal Church.
Memorial

James C.
DeForest died at his residence on the Pulisifer Road, Jan. 18,
2000. He was born in Boston, Mass., May 4, 1904, the son of John and
Lavinia (Muniz) DeForest.
Cremation
will take place at the Adirondack Burlington Crematory and services

arrangements.

D. Cross, Sr., 78, of Chazy Lake died Tuesday Jan. 18, 2000 at the
CVPH Medical Center.

Eleanor Laing Washbourne
WILMINGTON,
DEL — Eleanor Laing Washbourne, 96, formerly of York, Maine died at
Shipley Manor, Wilmington, Del on Jan. 16, 2000
Born in
Flushing, in 1903, she attended Flushing High School, graduated from
New Rochelle High School and attended Mount Holyoke-College. She
worked for the Bowery Savings Bank for 10 years.
She was
tennis club champion in Douglaston and golf club champion in
Plattsburgh and York, Maine. She was a Girl Scout troop leader and
Council board member. She was a member of First Parish Congregational
Church in York, Maine.
She was
married to John L. Washbourne (died in 1986) for 55 years and is
survived by her children, Lynn W. Williams ofWilmington, Del, Anne W.
Garrett of Sarasota, Fla., and Robert Washbourne of Plattsburgh; 10
grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A memorial
service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Ranson G. Patnode
CADYVILLE —
Ransom G. Patnode, Jr., 80, of 227 Rabideau St. died Saturday, January
15, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in West Chazy on May
5,1919 the son of Ransom G. and Dora (Pickle) Patnode. He married the
former Florence Belanger at the W. Chazy Wesleyan Methodist Church in
1939, she died in 1987.
Mr. Patnode
worked first at the BFD Mill, then Diamond National and after 38 years
retired as a paper maker from Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in 1983.
Survivors
include a companion, Katherine Hart; one son, Rodney Patnode and his
wife Gail of Morrisonville; two daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Dobbie-Fisch
of Maidens, VA and Mrs. John (Charlene) Davis of Grottoes, VA; one
brother, Raymond Patnode and his wife Mary of Cadyville; eight
grandchildren, Deborah Schepker of Virginia, Lori Hia of Scottsdale,
Ariz, Randy Patnode of Dannemora, Todd Patnode of Wasilla, AK, Scott
Patnode of Melbourne, Fla., Tracy Calderon of Grottoes, VA., Brian
Davis and Angela Davis of Grottoes, VA. Calling hours will be held
Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home in
Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 19,
2000 at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Ingraham

—- Lena Garrow, 74, died Saturday, January 16, 2000 at her
residence.
She was born
in Saranac on July 20, 1925, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Macey)
Parrott.
She is
survived by her husband, Norman Garrow of Plattsburg;a son, Donald
Garrow of Plattsburgh; a sister, Stella Perry of Plattsburgh; three
grandchildren, Donald Garrow Jr. of Plattsburgh, Candice Garrow of
Fla. and Jamie Garrow of Plattsburgh; a great-granddaughter, Kristie
Garrow of Plattsburgh and a great-grandson, Lance Garrow of
Plattsburgh.

— Patricia A. Clarke, 57, of Creek Rd., Crown Point died Sunday,
January 16, 2000 at her home. She was born on May 25, 1942 at Port
Henry, the daughter of Joseph and Christine (LaMarque) Pertak.
She was
employed as a Home Health Aide.
She is
survived by her husband, LeRoy (Eugene) Clarke, two daughters and a
son-in-law, Penny and William Beeman of Crown Point, Velinda Clarke
and companion, Robert Lacey of Crown Point; her son, Joseph Clarke of
Crown Point; her sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Richard Abare
Jr. of Ticonderoga; her brother and sister-in- law, Francis and Bette
Pertak, Crown Point; her grandchildren, Chad, Billy, Chelsey, Bobby,
Christina,Trisha and Hope. Several nieces and nephews.
There will be
a gathering for family and friends at the Crown Point United Methodith
Church for a celebration of her life, 10 a.m. Wed. January 19, 2000

COLO — Keith Walter, 20 of Thornton, Colo., died Friday, January 14,
2000.

Laurens De Lano
ROUSES POINT—
Laurens De Lano, 90, died Monday January 17, 2000 at the CVPH Medical
Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born
in Rouses Point on September 3, 1909, the son of Roy C. and Elizabeth
H. (Weeks) De Lano.
He worked as
an Immigration Inspector in Rouses Point for 42 years. He was a member
of the Masonic Lodge #239 of Champlain since 1931.
Survivors
include two daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Linda Cote and her
husband, Charles of Chazy Landing, Mrs. Barbara Stopper and her
husband Raymond of Westchester, PA; a brother, Arthur DeLano of
Biloxi, Miss., three sisters, Mrs. Marsha Ross of Rouses Point, Mrs.
Priscilla Dodds of Flint, Mich and Mrs. Shirley Ryan of Sugar Bush;
five grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He is
predeceased by his wife Evelyn (Fisher) De Lano, who died in 1996, two
sisters, Glenice Gallagher and Lois Dodds.

will be Wednesday, January 19, 2000 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the

Denis O. Lafontaine
PLATTSBURGH
— Denis O. LaFontaine, 83, of Beekman St, Plattsburgh, died Sunday,
January 16, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh
He was born
in Champlain, March 22,1916, the son of John and Marie (Thibodeau)
Lafontaine.
He was
employed for several years with the Harris Corporation in Champlain.
Denis enjoyed fishing gardening, and playing piano, to which he played
in a band.
Survivors
include two daughters and one son-in-law, Ann Stevenson of Katy,
Texas, and Carol and William Morison of Howick, Quebec; three
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was
predeceascd by his wife Bernice (Brassard) Lafontaine, February 28,
1998.
There will be
no public calling hours. A memorial mass will be celebrated at a time
to be announced later, at St. Mary's Church in Champlain. Burial will
be in the spring 'in the Glenwood Cemetery in Champlain
In lieu of
flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Glenwood Cemetery
Association.

Ellen L. Prairie
PLATTSBURGH
— Ellen L. Prairie, 85, died Sunday January 16, 2000 at CVPH Medical
Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Manhattan, on January 24, 1914,
the daughter of Michael and Delia (Dermody) Connolly.
She attended
school in New York City. She retired in 1975 from Bausch & Lomb
Optical Co., Rochester.
She is
survived by a daughter and her husband, Cassie and Robert McGee of
Peru; and a son and his wife, Dan and Diana Rock of Rochester, nine
grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews,
and many friends.
Ellen was a
former resident of Longs Apts. Plattsburgh, Keeseville Country
Gardens, she was a resident of Rochester, for 46 years. She was very
active in politics, bowling, and volunteer work at CVPH. She was a
special phone friend to many homebound people.
Ellen was
pre-deceased by two brothers, James of New York City and Walter of
Connecticut. Her first husband, Clifford Rock died in 1957, her second
husband Armand (Frenchy) Prairie died in 1986.
Calling hours
will be at Brown Funeral Home, Tuesday, January 18, 2000, from 7 to 9
p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine's Catholic Church,
Peru, Wednesday, January 19 at 11 a.m.

— Miss Helene Frederick, 76, of Smith St. died Sunday January 16,
2000 at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Plattsburgh on May
24, 1923 the daughter of the late Earl and Jennie (Thew) Frederick.
She had been
employed by Diamond International Corporation retiring after 30 years
of service. Helene enjoyed bowling, bingo and fishing. Helene was a
member of Our Lady of Victory Church.
She is
survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bernadette Jones of
Philadelphia, PA, Evelyn and David Davidson of Plattsburgh; nieces,
Nancy Davidson, Debbie Jones Styer, nephews, John E. Jones, David J.
Jones, a great-niece, Christina Jones. Helene was predeceased by a
twin sister Pauline Frederick.
Calling hours
will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home
Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. with
the Rev. Floyd "Jerry" Bleaux, Pastor of Our Lady of Victory

Lynus W. Silver
KEESEVILLE
— Lynus W. Silver, 74, of Keeseeville died Saturda, Jan. 15, 2000,
at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y.
Born in
Churubusco on Jan. 6, 1926, he was the son of Charles and Seamonne
(Ouimet) Silver.
He was
married to Loyola ‘Lou’ Silver on Feb. 5, 1950 in Huntington, Que.
Mr. Silver is
survived by his wife of 49 years of Keeseville; a son, Wayne Silver of
Plattsburgh; two sisters and a brother in law, Mary and Richard Whalen
of Ellenburg and Florence ‘Sis’ Blow of Chateaugay; several nieces
and nephews.
He was
predeceased in death by his parents and a brother, Lester Silver.
Mr. Silver
served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 and was honorably discharged
as a Sgt. He was then employed for NYS Public Works for two years and
in 1952 was employed by NYSEG Power Co. as a lineman working out of
the Chateaugay office for 19 years. In 1970 he transferred to
Keeseville, where he retired in 1986.
His
memberships include VFW in Keeseville, The Elks in Keeseville and
Chateaugay American Legion Post #875.
Calling hours
and funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the
family.
Burial will
take place in the spring at Eastside Cemetery, Chateaugay.
Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
Donelda ‘La’ Willette
KEESEVILLE
— Donelda ‘La’ Willette, 84, of Main St., died Saturday, Jan.
15, 2000, at her home while under the care of her family and Hospice
of the North Country.
She was born
in Keeseville on April 25, 1915, the daughter of William and Effigene
(Flora) Turner.
She was
predeceased by her husband, Sherman G. Willette, on May 16, 1992. They
were both lifelong residents of Keeseville.
She was a
longtime communicant of St. John’s Church in Keeseville.
Survivors
include two daughters, Sharon Ortiz of New York City, and Donnie
Hamilton of Bloomsbury, New Jersey; three grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; one sister, Rachel Winter of Plattsburgh; and one
brother, William Turner of Keeseville.
There will be
no public calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday,
Jan. 19 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Keeseville,
with Monsignor Joseph Aubin, pastor, celebrating. Burial will be in
the spring in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of
flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North
Country, 386 Rugar St., Plattsburgh.

Floyd J. Supernant
PLATTSBURGH — Floyd J. Supernant, 91,
passed away at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh on Jan. 15, 2000.
He was born in Chazy on May 18, 1908, the
son of Orin and Ella (Mattot) Supernant.
He worked 18 years for the A&P Store in
Champlain and 31 years for Sheridan Iron Works in Champlain. He was an
avid baseball player, fisherman and card player. He was an honorary
member of the Knights of Columbus in Champlain.
He is survived by three daughters, Joyce
Young of Altona, Jean Lintner of Champlain and Jackie Harvey and her
husband Charles of Champlain; his life-long companion, Eleanor Gladd
of Rouses Point; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; a
son-in-law, Bryant Meseck; a niece and a nephew.
He is predeceased by his wife, Germaine
Aubertin on Feb. 12, 1962; a brother, Stanley Supernant; a daughter,
June Meseck, on Oct. 8, 1999; sons-in-law, Darryl Lintner and Alfred
Young; and two grandchildren, Peter Lintner and Anna Meseck.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses
Point on Tuesday, Jan. 18th at 1 p.m.
Donations in his memory may be made to the
Rouses Point Fire and Rescue Squad or to the Charity of your choice.

Dorothy Colby
LAKE PLACID — Dorothy Colby, 74, of 74
Sentinel Road, Lake Placid, died Friday, January 14, 2000 at the
Adirondack Medical Canter, Saranac Lake. She was born in Brattleboro,
Vt., March 7, 1925, the daughter of Millard and Julia (Daha) Hayes.
She had been a resident of Lake Placid
since 1944. Her husband, James S. Colby passed away in Lake Placid,
November, 1979. Mrs. Colby is survived by four sons; James M., Thomas
P., Donald M., and Hayes Colby all of Lake Placid. She is also
survived by two daughters and their husbands, Deborah and Frederick
Betters and Nancy and Michael Strack, both of Lake Placid. There are
also three sisters-in-laws, Phyllis Colby, Barbara Colby and Louise
Hayes; thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces
and nephews.
Friends may call at Clark Funeral Home in
Lake Placid Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be
held Monday morning, January 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the Adirondack
Community Church in Lake Placid with the Rev. James Sorley
officiating. Burial will be in the North Elba Cemetery. The family
