NORTH HUDSON Evelyn L. Clark, 83, died
peacefully at the Moses Ludington Hospital, Ticonderoga, Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, after a
long illness.
She was born Feb. 1, 1916, in North Hudson. She
was the daughter of the late William and Angie (Atwell) Walker.
Evelyn was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School.
After high school, she was employed by Essex County and later she was a founding employee
of over 40 years at Frontier Town in North Hudson. She was honored by Frontier Town in
1994 for being the longest serving employee.
Evelyn was a member of the Town Board of North
Hudson since 1971. Recognized as "Citizen of the Year" for the Town and also
selected as Grand Marshal for the Town of North Hudsons 150th Sesqui-Centennial
celebration.
Evelyn was a member of the Schroon Lake Community
Church. Evelyn loved traveling and music. She was always available to help family and
friends. Her passing will be truly felt by all her family and friends.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Norman H.
Clark, in 1970.; her daughter, Gail Endras, in 1961; her son, Gary W. Clark, in 1983; and
a brother, Clarence Walker, in 1971.
Survivors include two grandsons, Chris T. Clark
and Scott N. Clark, both of North Hudson, and their mother, Joyce Leddick of Olmstedville;
eight great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson.
Friends may call Saturday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, Schroon Lake. Funeral service will be Sunday, Jan. 9,
2000 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Cathleen Maker officiating. Burial will
be at the Schroon River Cemetery. Bearers will be members of the North Hudson Town Board.
After the burial, everyone is invited to the
North Hudson Fire House for refreshments. In lieu of flowers, donations to American Cancer
Society, 380A Glen Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801.
James E. Bradley
TUPPER LAKE James E. Bradley, 67, of 1
Palmer Ave, Tupper Lake died Thursday January 6, 2000 at the Adirondack Medical Center in
Saranac Lake. Born on July 24, 1932 in Tupper Lake, he was the son of Harold and Hazel
(Barber) Bradley.
Mr. Bradley attended local schools and went to
work at the Oval Wood Dish as a young man. On December 19, 1951 he entered the U.S. Air
Force. Mr. Bradley served overseas during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on
December 13, 1955. He received the National Defense Service Medal , Korean Service Medal
and the Korean Battle Star. After returning from the service, Mr. Bradley married the
former Rosella Skiff on July 6, 1956 at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale. He worked
various jobs in the area and in 1974 went to work at Sunmount DDSO and retired in 1994.
Mr. Bradley was a past member of the V.F.W. and member of the Honor Guard. A member of
the. Moose Lodge #640, Station brook hunting club and AARP. He was an avid outdoorsman
enjoying hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and enjoyed spending time with family,
grandchildren and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, five
sons, James and Sherry of Tupper Lake, David and Joli of Stoudsburg, Pa, Theodore and
Elaina of Tupper Lake, Brian and Adell of Piercefield, Joseph and Shannon of Tupper Lake;
two daughters, Mrs, John (Catherine) Amell of Heuvelton, and Ms. Patricia Reandeau of
Tupper Lake; 17 grandchildren, one brother Alfred of Tupper Lake; three sisters, Elizabeth
Edwards of Tupper Lake, Mary Degone of Tupper Lake, Francis Bradley of Tupper Lake, and
several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents and one grandaughter
Jennifer Rose in 1990. Calling hours will be held on Sunday January 9 from 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p.m. at the Fortune-Keough-Rennell F.H. in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will
be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus church with the Rev. Donald Kramberg
Celebrant. Burial will be in St, Alphonsus Cemetery in the spring with full military
honors. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider, High Peaks
Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

WESTPORT Jean M. Downs, 59, of Pleasant
St., Westport, died Friday, January 07, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Keeseville, October 28, 1940 the
daughter of Matthew and Marion (Prefontaine) McDonough.
She married Michael E. Downs, May 2, 1963 at the
Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville.
Jean graduated from Keeseville High School and
continued her education at Plattsburgh State University. She took time off from work to
raise her two daughters. She was employed approximately 15 years at the Champlain National
Bank in Westport
Survivors include her husband, Michael E. Downs
of Westport; two daughters, Jennifer of Albany and Mary Kate of Hampton, Va; three
brothers, James "Dan" McDonough of Spring Hill, Fla, Colin McDonough of
Keeseville, and Michael McDonough of Hartford, Conn; three sisters and two

and Pat and Robert Fisch of San Jose, Calif; two brothers-in-law, and spouses, Jerome and
Janet Downs of Peru, and Thomas and Ruth Downs of New Paltz; one sister-in-law, Barbara

Daniel E. Ryan
Plattsburgh Daniel E. Ryan, longtime public servant to the people of
Plattsburgh and Clinton County, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000 at his residence at Meadowbrook
Healthcare. In a career that spanned parts of four decades, Mr. Ryan served as alderman
from Ward 5 of the City of Plattsburgh, supervisor representing the City of Plattsburgh on
the Clinton County Board of Supervisors and for 18 years as Clinton County Treasurer.
He was born on Arnold Hill in the Town of AuSable on Nov. 24, 1908 to Michael and
Winifred (Ryan) Ryan and shortly thereafter moved to Clintonville where he spent his
youth. After high school, he went to work for his uncle, Matthew Ryan, founder and owner
of the M.E. Ryan Construction Company of Schenectady, where he learned the trade of a
bricklayer and plasterer. His career took him throughout the North Country and the Capital
District. Among many public and private projects on which he worked were Clinton
Correctional Facility, Hawkins Hall, the buildings on the Old Plattsburgh Air Force Base,
the Franklin County Courthouse and Franklin Academy. Although his active career in the
buildings and trades industry would end with the commencement of his full time
governmental service, he maintained his membership and involvement in the union and was
subsequently awarded the 50 year recognition gold pin for his service.
In 1938 he married Gertrude Coffey of Schuyler Falls in Troy and the couple returned to
the Plattsburgh area to settle and raise a family. In 1945, he was elected alderman, a
position he held for two terms. In 1949, he was elected supervisor and served three terms
until 1955 when he was elected Clinton County Treasurer. He retired on Jan. 1, 1974 after
serving six terms.
He was a member of the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge for over 50 years, a member of the
Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Clinton County Democratic Party Committee.
He was a well known and beloved figure throughout Clinton County and enjoyed helping
people in all walks of life. He was a "people person" before that term was
coined. He was a devoted husband and father.
His wife of 50 years died in 1989. Also predeceasing him were his brother Michael and
his sister Jane Coffey. He is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, Daniel Ryan
of Chico, Calif., Thomas and Nancy Ryan of Freehold, N.J., John and Mary Ryan of Toms
River, N.J., James and Sara Ryan of Clifton Park and Kevin and Mary Ryan of Plattsburgh
and 14 grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O'Neill -
Redden - Drown Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at
10 a.m. at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be in the spring at St.
Augustine's Cemetery in Peru.
Helen M. Carpentier
PLATTSBURGH Helen M. Carpentier, 91, of Bailey Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000
at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born on Aug. 11, 1908 in Plattsburgh, the daughter of
Robert and Isabel (Darrah) Baker.
Mrs. Carpentier graduated from Plattsburgh Normal School in 1929 and was a high school
teacher for several years on Long Island before her marriage to Urgel Carpentier. She was
a member of the United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh, the CVPH Auxiliary, and a former
member of the Ladies of the Elks.
Survivors include her husband, Urgel, of Plattsburgh, one son, Frederick Carpentier of
Berwyn, Pa.; one daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Richard (Joan) Felak of Niskayuna; one
sister, Mildred Baker of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; three grandchildren, and several nieces and
nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2000 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the R.W.
Walker Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will take place in the spring in Riverside Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Plattsburgh United Methodist Memorial Fund
or a charity of choice.
Yvonne B. LaBonte
Rouses Point Yvonne B. LaBonte, 96, formerly of Rouses Point, died Thursday Jan.
6, 2000 at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. She was residing at Valehaven Home for
Adults in Malone.
She was born on July 30, 1903, in St. Valentine, Quebec, the daughter of Modese and
Matilda (O'Dette) Langevin.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Carl Dale of Malone; three
sons and daughters-in-law, Armond and Marylin LaBonte of Benton, Pa., Alfred and Lena
LaBonte of Rouses Point, Hector and Violet LaBonte of Rouses Point; also surviving are 17
grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Wilfred, on Oct. 29, 1968, four sons;
Roland, Wilfred, Jr. (Fritz), Arthur, and Maurice (Spike); and a daughter, Anna; she was
also predeceased by her brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was the last
survivor of her generation.
Calling hours will be Saturday Jan. 8, 2000 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Clark
Funeral Home in Rouses Point. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Patrick's
Church in Rouses Point at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart
Association.

Rolland LeBlanc, 94, of Rt. 9, Chazy, died Wednesday January 5,
2000 at CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Rouses Point on June 19, 1905 the son of Peter
and Melanie (Turgeon) LeBlanc.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on
Saturday, January 8, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will
be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Chazy in the Spring. The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
Sadie Hagood, a long time resident of Port Henry, died in NYC on Jan.
4, 2000. She was born in Spartanburg, S.C. on Nov. 18, 1922.
Burial will be in Brooklyn, following memorial services at The Mother A.M.E. Zion
Church, 140-6 West 137th Street in Harlem on Friday, Jan. 7, 2000.
Frances "Frank" J. Howard, 77, of Chittenango, formerly of
Plattsburgh, died Jan. 6, 2000 at Francis House in Syracuse. He was born in Beekmantown,
May 5, 1922 to William and Alice (Fredette) Howard.
Visitation will be 12:30-1 p.m. Jan 9, 2000, with services to follow at the Traub

Plattsburgh Mr. Donald J. Betters, 69, of
Rugar St. died Tuesday Jan. 4, 2000 at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Black Brook
on June 19, 1930 the son of the late Levi and Mary (Irwin) Betters. Donald was a veteran
of the Korean Era serving in Germany in the U. S. Army. He was a Life Member of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 Plattsburgh. fie enjoyed woodworking, fishing and most
of all, his family.
He was predeceased by his wife Erma M. Betters on
May 9, 1990, two brothers Levi Betters, Clarence Betters and a sister Dorothy.
Donald is survived by a son and a
daughter-in-law, Gregory and Cindy Pruett of Morrisonville, a daughter and a son-in-law,
Debra and Rodney Bonnett of Morrisonville; four grandchildren Angie Medley, Kristy Arnold,
Scott and Michelle Bonnett, four great grandsons Matthew, Tyler, Noah and Kody, six
sisters and three brothers-in-law, Evelyn Senecal of Peru, Kathleen and Melvin Seguin of
AuSable Forks, Joan and Homer Snow of AuSable Forks, Nancy and Abe Bombard of AuSable
Forks, Mary Goyette of AuSable Forks, Helen Rhino of AuSable Forks, two brothers and a
sister-in-law, George and Jackie Betters of Stillwater; Charles Betters of AuSable Forks;
several nieces and nephews also survive him.

at the Brown Funeral Home Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at
the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hal Meyers officiating. Interment will be at a

Irene M. Anderson, 95, formerly of Thayers
Corners, died Jan. 4, 2000, at Franklin County Nursing Home, Malone. She was born in
Bellmont, Mar. 28, 1904.

Friday, Jan. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. only. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Jan. 7 in
Chateaugay Funeral Home, with Rev. Eleanor Bellows of Chateaugay United Methodist Church,

Linda H. Russell, 56, of Plattsburgh, died
Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born on June 29,

Barbara (Evans) Boe
Schuyler Falls Barbara (Evans) Boe,
85, of Norrisville Road, Schuyler Falls, beloved wife of Norman O. Boe died Dec. 29, 1999
at Cherry Brook Health Care Center, Collinsville, Conn. She was born April 18, 1914 in
Paterson, N.J., daughter of the late William Wadsworth and Isabel Urquhart Blauvelt Evans
and had lived in Schuyler Falls 25 years prior to purchasing a second residence in Canton,
Conn.
Mrs. Boe was a graduate of Kent Place High School
in Summit, N.J. and a graduate of the Child Education Foundation in NYC. She was employed
as a kindergarten teacher for the Mahwah School System in Mahwah, N.J. After her
retirement she was a nursery school teacher at the Church of the Epiphany in Allendale,
N.J.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church
in Keeseville and a frequent parishioner of Trinity Episcopal Church in Collinsville,
Conn.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son,
Eric N. Boe and his wife Barbara of Mahwah, N.J.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betsy B.
Jahne and her husband, Gregory, of New Hartford, Conn., Robin B. Mengual and her husband
Joseph of Harwinton, Conn., eight grandchildren; Erik, Tara and Adam Boe; Emily and
Jessica Jahne; Jaime, Cory and Molly Mengual.
She was predeceased by a brother, William W.

A "Celebration of Life" service will be
held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Keeseville on Sunday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. Burial
will be in Trinity Memorial Garden at convenience of the family. There are no calling
hours.

Rosemary Hildreth
Mechanicville Rosemary Hildreth, 75, of
Broadway, Mechanicville, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy,
following a brief illness. She was born in Mechanicville, May 10, 1924, the daughter of
the late Henry C. and Alice L. (Storey) Sumner.
She was the wife of Patrick M. Hildreth Sr., whom
she married Dec 7, 1943. She was a graduate of the former St. Paul's School and a graduate
of Mechanicville High School. She was co-owner and founder of Hildreth's Restaurant in
Mechanicville, formerly known as the West Virginia Paper Mill Diner. She was widely known
as the creator of Mrs. H's sinfully delicious homemade desserts. She was also the manager
of the food services contract at Northway Auto Auction in Clifton Park for the past 30
years. She was a communicant of Assumption-St. Paul's Church in Mechanicville; a former
member of the Catholic Daughters of the America's Court St. Paul 71, a member of the
Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, and past member of the Mechanicville Womens
Republican Club.
Survivors in addition to her husband include
three sons; Patrick A. Hildreth, Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Mechanicville; Peter J.
Hildreth of Glenmont; and Edward R. Hildreth and his wife, Melanie, of Mechanicville; two
daughters, Mrs. James (Judy) Levesque of Mechanicville; and Mrs. Hal (Alice) Recore of
Dannemora; one brother, James Sumner of Mechanicville; ten grandchildren, Patrick T.,
Kevin R., and Thomas J. Hildreth, Mrs. Lisa Dyer, Deirdre M., Kirsten L., James E. and
Marc S. Levesque, Michael J. and Kelly E. Recore; and three great-grandchildren, Haileigh
Hildreth, Travis Dyer, and Makayla Rose Recore. She is also survived by her faithful
canine companion, Freckles and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by two brothers, William
Sumner and Samuel Levin; and two sisters, Mary Sumner and Margaret Kelly.

from Assumption-St. Paul's Church, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends may call

Osborne C. Gordon
MOOERS Osborne C. Gordon, 70, of the
Gilbert Rd., died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Mooers on Aug. 12, 1929, the son
of Frederick and Elizabeth (Greer) Gordon. Mr. Gordon was a Army Veteran, serving in the
Korean War fighting in the 92nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion "Red Devils".
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 in Plattsburgh, and a former
member of the Mooers Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge in Champlain.
After the war Osborne worked for the
International Lime Corporation in Chazy, then took a job with R. Deso Company in Champlain
for many years. Mr. Gordon retired from the Cumberland Bay State Park in 1998 due to
illness.
Osborne married the former Joyce Hawksby in
Mooers on Nov. 11, 1964.
Survivors include, his wife, of Mooers; one son,
John and his wife Tracy Gordon of Mooers; and one sister, Irene Gordon of Mooers.
Calling hours will be held Thursday Jan. 6, 2000,
from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Mooers Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m.
at the Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Mooers in the spring.

MADELINE L. ABARE. 84, of Hudson, Fla.,
formerly of Scotia, died Jan. 3, 2000.
Cremation will be in Florida with burial at St.
Augustine Cemetery, Peru, in the spring.
Rae Barish, 94, died Tuesday, Jan. 4,
2000, in Brooklyn.
Funeral services will be held Thursday in
Rockland County. Shiva will be held at the home of Barbara and Mel Lichtig, 24 Trafalgar
Drive, Saturday evening and all day Sunday. Kaddish is at 7 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

Lillian L. Rabideau
SCHUYLER FALLS Lillian L. Rabidcau, 92, of
the Salmon River Road died Saturday January 1, 2000 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home. She was
born in Chazy Lake, on June 29,1907 the daughter of Henry and Angelina (Rivard) Varin.
Mrs. Rabideau was a member of St. Alexander's
Church in Morrisonville. She married Medor Rabideau at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora on
August 6, 1929. They moved from Chazy Lake to the Irish Settlement Road in Schuyler Falls
in 1945. Mr. Rabideau died on March 26,1988. Mrs Rabideau was a homemaker and operated a
roadside produce stand on the Irish Settlement Road for many years. She will be remembered
for her love, pride, hard work, crafts and interest in politics. Until recently, she lived
by herself on the Salmon River Road in Schuyler Falls.
Survivors include her daughter and her husband,
Rachel and Robert Fischetti of Wappingers Falls; four sons, Darryl Rabideau and his wife,
Judi (Adams) of Scottsdale, AZ, Clyde Rabideau and his wife Gail (Kobayashi) of Hawaii and
Plattsburgh, Alvin Rabideau and his wife, Bonnie (Hart) of Schuyler Falls and LeRoy
Rabideau and his wife Shirley (Kramer) of Delmar; a sister-in-law, Margaret Varin of
Clifton Park; 21 grandchildren, including Clyde Rabideau, Jr. former mayor of Plattsburgh;
45 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephew. A son Jay Rabideau, who was the
Highway Superintendent, of the town of Schuyler Falls at the time, died in 1984. A
granddaughter, Lisa Fischetti, died in 1979. Two brothers, Vivian and Adrian Varin and one
sister Ida Guadagnola died earlier, Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at

held in the Spring at St. Alexanders Church prior to the time of burial in St.
Alexanders Cemetery.
Wesley J. "Pete" Allen
MINEVILLE Wesley J. "Pete"
Allen, of Mineville, died on January 2, 2000 at the Elizabethtown Conununity Hospital
after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family. He was born January 31, 1933 in
Whitehall, the son of Wesley and Viola (Merrill) Allen.
November 17, 1956, Pete and Patricia Connors were
married in St Church in Ticonderoga, by the late Rev. Francis B. Ruddy.
Pete was active in many activities in the area
including Town of Ticonderoga Basketball Team, he started softball teams in the area,
played for the "Grover Hills Softball Team" for many years.
Pete was very active in starting the Moriah
Central School Booster Club, where he served many years as Public Relations officer, as
well as being a member of the Scholarship Committee. Pete has always been an avid sports
fan for Mineville, Moriah, Port Henry, Ticonderoga Crown Point and most of Essex County -
always supporting the athletes in many ways. He never could get enough. He even went to
practices of both boys and girls whenever he could, He went to all Moriah games and
continued to go as often as his illness would allow in recent years He never missed a home
football game. His truck was always parked in the end zone so he could watch the JV &
Varsity teams. For many years he wrote sports pages for the "Ti Times", "Ti
Sentinel", "Valley News" and lastly "The Press-Republican". He
wrote many interesting articles about the people from this area. He wrote about Coaches
and athletes - past and present. Many parents wrote notes thanking him for the
"great" story or just to say they enjoyed his sports page. Every once in a
while, a dad would say "I have articles you wrote about me when I was in School - My
mom made me a scrapbook." He touched the lives of of so so many. He was a man of many
talents. He also was active in organizing and serving on Board as Vice-President of
Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union; Member of Horseman's Assoc. of Essex County, National
American Legion, an official time keeper at the Essex County Fair Race Track; Member of
Quarter Century Club; Town of Moriah Councilman for eight years, member of Moriah Youth
Commission.
Pete is survived by his wife Pat; sons, Peter of
W. Palm Beach, Fla, and Edward of Moriah; Ed's wife Jean; granddaughter, Vicki of Boston;
grandson, Eddie. He is also survived by his mother Viola; sisters, Phyllis and her husband
Marvin James, Grace and her husband Bruce Lamb ; brothers, Jim and companion, Mary, David
and his wife, Adel, Gary and his wife, Rose; his two sisters-in-law, Shirley Allen and
Cheryl Allen. He was pre-deceased by his father Wesley, and a brother, Harold
"Chuck" Allen.
Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, aunts
and uncles and many friends.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
at Harland Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 4, 2000 and funeral services will be held at
10 a.m. at the Church of All Saints in Mineville, on Wednesday, January 5, 2000.In lieu of
flowers, the family asks that donations in his name be made to the Moriah Central School
Booster Club Scholarship Fund.
Beluah J. Tanton
VESTAL Beulah J. Tanton, 67, passed away
at her home in Vestal, on Friday, December 31, 1999. She was born in Lake Placid June 26,
1932, the daughter of Lee and Mildred (Knapp) Lawrence Beulah was a graduate of the Lake
Placid High School Class of 1950, She was married to Alvin E. Tanton. Mr. Tanton passed
away in Endwell, NY March 6, 1990.
Mrs. Tanton is survived by two daughters and
sons-in-law, Audrey and Gary Kamin of Palm Harbor Fla, Tracy and Dean Businelle of
Pearland, Texas; three sons an daughters-in-law, Larry and Debby Tanton of Marlboro, NY,
Brian and Kathy Tanton of Vestal, NY and Randy and Deb Tanton of Milton. She is also
survived by a brother, Frederick Lawrence of Homer, two sisters, Beth Roberson of Hacienda
Heights, Calif. and Darlene Sessions of Binghamton. There are also 10 grandchildren
surviving, Brian Brad, Matt, Chris aid Corey Tanton, Reschell Wendel, Elise Aceto, Chelsea
and Shelby Businelle and Bailey Kamin; one great-grandaughter, Brianna Wendel Tanton and
very dear friends, May and Maurice Branan and Charlotte Lilly.
Beulah enjoyed doing arts and crafts, puzzles and
crossword puzzles, writing poetry and gardening.
There are no calling hours. Funeral services were
held Monday, January 3, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at The Trinity Old Military Road, Lake Placid,
Rev. Mark Demers officiating. Burial will be in the North Elba Cemetery, Lake Placid In
lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her to the Hospice Program c/o our Lady of
Lourdes Hospital,169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY, 13905 or to the of your choice. The
Clark Funeral Home in Lake PIacid is in charge of arrangements.
Florence J. Pointer
PLATTSBURGH Miss Florence J. Pointer, 78,
of the Seltzer Rd. died Monday, January 3, 2000 at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home. She was
born in New York City on September 13, 1921 the daughter of Henry T. and Catherine
(Hallinan) Pointer.
Florence during her school years spent six months
in New York City and six months in Plattsburgh for 21 years. She graduated from Public
School #9 in New York City, Julia Richmond High School and Ballard Finishing School.
Florence received her teachers certificate from Columbia University. She retired as a
manager of Scheraffis Restaurant in New York City after 23 years as a faithful employee,
moving to Plattsburgh in 1962. Florence retired from Pargas as office manager after 17
years.
She was a member of St. Johns Church, the Altar
and Rosary Society of St. Johns Church, the First Friday Club, the Newcomers Club, the
Television Mass Society. Florence had a special devotion to the Sacred Heart.
She is survived by friends and cousins. There
will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January
6, 2000 at 10 a. m. at St. Johns Church. Interment will be at a later date in Riverside
Cemetery. Friends wishing may make donations to St. Johns Endowment Fund or St. Johns
Church. Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home Plattsburgh.
ELIZABETH E. MOROCK, 79, of New
Russia, died Thursday at the, Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown She was born in Duseldorf,
Germany, the daughter of Wilhelm and Lily (Taylor) Kuhl. No calling hours will be held.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. W.M. Marvins Sons funeral
home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements.
CHARLES T. METCALFE, 49, of 2101
Rt. 3, Cadyville died Sunday, January 2, 2000 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in
Burlington, VT. He was born on April 3, 1950 in Plattsburgh. Calling hours will be held on
Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home. A funeral service will be
follow at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home Chapel. The American Legion Post # 1619 will meet

OSBORNE C. GORDON, 70, of the
Gilbert Rd., died Monday, January 3, 2000 at CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Mooers on

Eugene C. Gene Steady
MORRISONVILLE Mr. Eugene C.
"Gene" Steady, 74, of Rock Road, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2000, at the CVPH Medical
Center.
He was born in Burlington, Vt., Sept. 4,
1925, the son of George L. and Josephine (Jarvis) Steady.
Eugene had been a union carpenter for 50
years, belonging to Local 117 in Albany where he made his home for 18 years, and
Plattsburgh Local 1042. He was a veterans of World War II, serving the U.S. Navy.
A member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
125, he served as post commander for two years, was a member of American Legion Post 20
and served as past governor of Moose Lodge 80 of Albany.
Eugene was an avid sportsman, enjoying
hunting and fishing.
He was a member of St. Alexanders
Church in Morrisonville.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 50
years, Patricia (Lashway) Steady of Morrisonville; a granddaughter, Alicia (Welsh) Pontore
of Albany; a great-granddaughter, Josephine Pontore and a great-grandson, Andrew Schean,
both of Albany; a sister-in-law, Priscilla Tellier of Plattsburgh; three sisters and a
brother-in-law, Hazel and Art Stacey of Springfield, Mass., Connie Stacy of Plattsburgh,
Joan Richards of Springfield, Mass.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard and Linda
Steady, of Morrisonville, Leo and Dana Steady of Dover, Del., Kenneth and Eleanor Steady
of Daytona Beach, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents, George and Josephine Steady; a daughter, Linda P. (Steady) Welsh; a son, Joseph
A. Steady; and a brother, George Steady Jr.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
A Mass of Christian burial will celebrated
at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Alexanders Church in Morrisonville.

Maurice E. Vincellette
FORT COVINGTON Maurice E.
Vincellette, 71, of Water Street, Fort Covington, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at home.
Born in Fort Covington Dec. 3, 1928, he
was the son of Adrian and Elizabeth (Mayville) Vincellette.
He was a graduate of Fort Covington High
School and served in the United States Army in Germany from 1945 until he was honorable
discharged in 1948.
He worked for the Canadian National
Railroad and on the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway Project.
Mr. Vincellette was a custodian at the
U.S. Port of Entry in Fort Covington for more than 20 years and owner of
Vincellettes Welding and Repair in Fort Covington for more than 30 years.
He married Helen M. Kazulak Sept. 17,
1949, in St. Agnes Church, Dundee, Quebec, Canada.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; three
daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Douglas Brockway, Cynthia and Patrick Cromie of
Massena and Pamela and Russell Brockway of Fort Covington; and six grandchildren.
He was predeceased by four brothers,
Emile, Adrian Jr., Gerald and Roland Vincellette; and a sister, Irene Kazulak.
Mr. Vincellette was a communicant of St.
Marys Church in Fort Covington, a member of the Fort Covington Knights of Columbus,
and he enjoyed fishing, gardening and bowling.
Calling hours will be Monday from to 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home, Fort Covington.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10
a.m. at St. Marys Church in Fort Covington. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Fort
Covington Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
