Oliver L. Soulia

PERU -- Oliver L. Soulia, 82, of Telegraph Road, Peru died Saturday, April 22, 2006, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.

He was born in Lewis, Feb. 24, 1924, the son of John B. and Gertrude (Denton) Soulia.

He married Blanche M. Busha, Feb. 22, 1944, at St. John's Church in Keeseville. She predeceased him, Saturday, July 15, 2000.

Oliver served in the United States Army during World War II. He entered March 8, 1944, and was honorably discharged Jan. 20, 1946. He was an iron worker for VanDorn of Cleveland, Ohio, and Murnane Associates in Plattsburgh for many years. Oliver was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville and a member of the Eugene G. Santor Knights of Columbus 469 in Keeseville. He enjoyed farming and his family. Oliver enjoyed visiting and will be fondly remembered for his quiet, unassuming way with people and quick wit. He would rarely be seen without his smile.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Riley of Kansas and Sandra Ashline of West Chazy; two sons, John Soulia of Peru and his fiancée Evelyn Brown and her daughter, Ashley, both of Plattsburgh, and Terry and Barbara Soulia of Peru; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Lucille Parsons of Peru and Josie and Gary Howard of Peru and Florida; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Sheridan and Grace Soulia of Plattsburgh and Peter and Joanne Brelia of Maryland; 11 grandchildren, Sheryl, Maurice and Danny Riley, Edward and Shelly Ashline, Karolyn, Jamie and Wayne Soulia and Lisa, David and Sara Soulia; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his parents; one son, Wayne Soulia; his stepfather, Hartwell Brelia; and sister, Mary LaBounty.

Calling hours were held Tuesday, April 25, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. Members of the Knights of Columbus met at the funeral home for a 7 p.m. service. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors accorded by the Military Forces Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Oliver's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country or the Immaculate Conception Church.

James Jubert

CHAMPLAIN -- James "Jim" Jubert, 80, passed away March, 25, 2006.

He was born on April 23, 1925, and raised in Champlain, N.Y. Grandson to John and Agnes Dupont.

Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lucy Jubert.

Survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jean Jubert; and children, Jo-Anna Reems, Ron (Sandy) Reems, Cheryl (Bob) Davis, Jimmy (Annette) Jubert and Jeffrey (Rose) Jubert; also survived by nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, G. Elmer of Plattsburgh, Paul R. in Clarkston, Wash. and Dick in Lancaster, N.Y.; sisters, Mary Nichols in Batavia, N.Y., Doris Walker in Mooers Forks, N.Y., and Rita Podsiadlo in Depew, N.Y.; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Shatze.

He served our country honorably in World War II and the Korean War. He served in the Air Force and the U.S. Army and retired as a 1st Sergeant after 23 and a half years. He flew 25 Bomber missions over Germany during World War II of which he was a Top Turret Gunner. Graduate of St. Mary's Academy.

Services were held Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Our Lady of Meadows Church in Pueblo, Colo.

Mary Felicitas Wells

LAKE PLACID -- Sister Mary Felicitas Wells, R.S.M., passed away Thursday, April 20, 2006, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Sister was born in Ticonderoga, N.Y., Feb. 8, 1911, the daughter of Thomas J. and Leila M. (White) Wells.

Sister was a resident of St. Margaret's Convent in Uihlein Mercy Center. Sister started, her ministries in 1930 as a Novitiate in Terrytown, N.Y., from 1931 to 1934 she studied music in Gabriels, N.Y., and in 1933 Sister was assistant postmistress in Gabriels. From 1934 to 1949 she was a music teacher at St. John's School in Plattsburgh, N.Y. In 1943, Sister earned a Certificate of Art at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., from 1949 to 1951 she was sister superior and music teacher in Brasher Falls, N.Y., from 1951 to 1954 she was assistant Mistress of Novices, Terrytown, N.Y., from 1954 to 1980 Sister taught grade three, four, and five at St. John's School in Plattsburgh, N.Y. In 1965, she received her bachelor's degree in education and major in art from Rosary College in Buffalo, N.Y., from 1980 to 1999, Sister was a Pastoral Associate at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh, N.Y. In 1999 she moved into St. Margaret's Convent, Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Sister is survived by one sister, Sister M. Emerita R.S.M. of St. Margaret's Convent, Lake Placid, N.Y. She is also survived by four nephews, Edward, Thomas, Joseph and Bernard Wells; and two nieces, Margaret Daby and Ann Marie Suprenant.

There are no calling hours. Sister had arranged to donate her body to UVM College of Medicine in Burlington, Vt.

A Mass will be held Thursday, April 27, 2006, at noon at Reiss Memorial Chapel in Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. The Rev. James Seymour will be the main celebrant.

The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid, N.Y., is in charge of arrangements.

Pearl Yvonne Russo

CHESTERTOWN, N.Y. -- Pearl Y. Russo, 69, died Sunday, April 23, 2006, at Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls, N.Y.

She was born Aug. 2, 1936, in Port Henry, N.Y., the daughter of Joe Forgette and Helena Forgette.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Anthony A. Russo Sr. of Chestertown, N.Y.; two sons, Anthony A. Russo Jr. of Brant Lake, N.Y., and Francis L. Russo of New Hampshire; four grandchildren of Brant Lake, Anthony, Nicole, Dawn and Helena; two great-grandchildren of Brant Lake; three surviving sisters, Charlene Phinney of Colorado, Loraine Ribeiro of Potsdam and Betty Tyrell of Schroon Lake, N.Y.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry, N.Y. A funeral service will be held at a later date at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Moriah, N.Y.

Warren F. Taylor

KEESEVILLE -- Warren F. "Bud" Taylor, 73, formerly of Pine Tree Drive, Keeseville, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at the CVPH Skilled Nursing Unit in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Keeseville, Aug. 30, 1932, the son of Walden D. and Ida E. (Ford) Taylor.

He married Martha Jane Brelia, Saturday, Jan. 16, 1954, at St. John's Church in Keeseville. She predeceased him Aug. 26, 1992.

Bud received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1959.

Bud served in the United States Navy from Nov. 28, 1950, until his honorable discharge, Aug. 30, 1954. He was employed at the Rochester Gas & Electric, Torrington Construction in Keeseville, J&J Rogers Paper Company in AuSable Forks, Newton Falls Paper Company and lastly Pepsi-Cola Bottling of Keeseville prior to retirement. Following retirement, he and his son Ed owned and operated BT Repair.

He was a former member of the AuSable Valley School Board and served as president in 1967 and was a 4th degree member the Eugene G. Santor Knights of Columbus 469 in Keeseville. Bud enjoyed meeting and working with people. He enjoyed solving for long term, machinery and related problems and working with and teaching others the techniques he learned over the years. He also enjoyed music, golfing, cooking, woodworking and reading.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Carol Taylor of Oswego, Edward and Julie Taylor of Port Kent, Thomas and Sheila Taylor of Keeseville and Mark and Diane Taylor of Oswego; four daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia Taylor of Port Kent, Melissa Light of Plattsburgh, Donna Taylor of Chazy and Jennifer and Steve Bashaw of Peru; two brothers and one sister-in-law, John and Neda Taylor of Las Alamos, N.M., and Frank Taylor of Keeseville; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. Members of the Keeseville Knights of Columbus will meet at the funeral home for a 7 p.m. service. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, at 1 p.m. at St. John's Church in Keeseville with the Rev. Peter R. Riani, celebrating and the Rev. Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, concelebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Dorothy M. Raudenbush

SELLERSVILLE, Pa. -- Dorothy M. Raudenbush, 96, a lifelong resident of Sellersville, passed away Monday, April 24, 2006, in the Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township.

She was the beloved wife for 74 and a half years of the late Russell T. Raudenbush, who died April 26, 2003.

Born in Naceville, she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Annie (Wenhold) Wagner.

On Sept. 15, 1928, she married Russell T. Raudenbush in a small plane that took off from the former Patco Airfield in Norristown. They became famous as the area's first couple to be married in an airplane.

As a teenager, Mrs. Raudenbush had worked in a cigar factory and a shirt factory in Sellersville. She had also been a seamstress for both the former Penn Pants Factory in Sellersville and the former Quaker Safety Products in Quakertown and a sewing machine operator for the former DeLoux Factory in Sellersville

She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Sellersville, where she had played the piano and organ for Sunday School and church services. At the time of her death, Mrs. Raudenbush was the oldest living member of the church. She also had been a member of the Eastern Star.

She enjoyed baking and cooking and had won the Best Pie Contest at St. Paul's UCC. Mrs. Raudenbush loved spending time with her beloved family.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet M. Raudenbush of Sellersville and Beverly A. Raudenbush of Alexandria, Va.; two sons, R. James Raudenbush and his wife Marilyn of Dannemora, N.Y., and R. Terry Raudenbush and his wife Deborah of Telford; four grandchildren, Pamela Prenoveau and her husband Michael of Morrisonville, N.Y., R. James Raudenbush Jr. and his wife Pamela of Dannemora, N.Y., Christina Raudenbush of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Charlotte M. Snyder and her husband Brad of Green Hills, Pa.; and 5 great-grandchildren, Leanne, Bethany and Jonathon Raudenbush, all of Dannemora, N.Y., and Olivia and Michael, Prenoveau Jr., both of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; two sisters, Claire Lofland of Sellersville and Naomi Cressman of Quakertown.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lucretia (Peg) Carr.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 27 at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 104 Green St., Sellersville, Pa. Relatives and friends may call Thursday morning at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment in Sellersville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 104 Green St., Sellersville, PA 18960.

Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home in Sellersville, Pa., is in charge of arrangements.

NANCY ANN HUNTER, 70, of Rouses Point died Friday, April 21, 2006, at the Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2006, at the First Presbyterian Church in Rouses Point.

HARRY J. GRANGER SR. of Witherbee, N.Y., died March 2, 2006, at the Moses Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga, N.Y.
