Mark Alan Sinclair

CHICAGO -- Mark Alan Sinclair, Jan. 18, 1972, stricken with a brain aneurysm at 34, died Friday, April 14, 2006.

He was a joy to all who knew him. Mark served as Comedy and Sports editor for Time Out Chicago, a weekly publication. Before his years there, Mark was part of the team that launched the online ESPN magazine and did graphic design for Newsweek, in New York City. Along with business partner and longtime friend, Matt, he created and continued to contribute to Big Empire.com, an internet travel and event Web site. Mark lived life with enthusiasm, humor, purpose and integrity. He was an avid traveler, and baseball enthusiast. Committed to improving the environment, he could be seen on his bicycle commuting along the lakefront to and from work, or participating in organized rides. Mark did much to publicize the biking community and the benefits of using foot power and mass transportation. He also championed new talent in the world of comedy. During his student years at University of California, Irvine, where he earned a degree in English, Mark was a member of the comedy club and served as DJ on their local radio station.

Mark leaves his very proud and loving parents, Pat and Jay Sinclair of Carmel, Calif.; his beloved brother, Mike (Dorota); adored niece and nephew, Alexis and Dominick of Portland, Ore.; grandparents, June and Wally, of Mesa, Ariz.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. He also leaves his cherished girlfriend and life partner Sara Walker Bosworth and faithful canine pal, Yoshi. What a gift to have had this adventure-loving, comic, witty, gentle and loving man in our lives. He will be missed beyond comprehension but he lives on in the hearts of each of us who knew him.

A gathering will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Lula Cafe, 2537 N Kedzie Ave. A celebration of Mark's life will be held at a later date in Chicago.
