Orpha M. Thomas Barton

MALONE -- Orpha M. Thomas Barton, 87, of Malone died April 10, 2006, at her home under the watchful care of her family.

She was born in Brandon, Aug. 30, 1918, the daughter of Melvin and Thusia Eseltine Thomas.

On June 4, 1941, she married Harold H. Barton in St. John Bosco Church. He predeceased her on Dec. 22, 1988.

She was employed by the Malone Dress Factory and BJ'S Dress Factory in Malone. A communicant of St. John Bosco Church, she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, an active Red Cross Blood donor, enjoyed Bingo, Senior Citizen Bowling and Shuffle Board leagues, a 10 year award RSVP Volunteer with the Malone Adult Center, was awarded the volunteer of the year award in 1997 and was Malone and area's mother of the year in 1963.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Herbert and Sally Barton of Dover Plains, N.Y., Thomas Barton of Malone and Bruce and Dawn Barton of Alaska; six daughters and their husbands, Joann and John Michaud of Norfolk, N.Y., Joan and Heman Matthews of Montana, Mrs. Nancy Benedum of Rochester, N.Y., Wanda and Richard Deuto of Rochester, N.Y., Barbara and Charles Miller of South Rutland, N.Y., Pamela and Norman Symonds of Malone, N.Y.; three sisters, Irean Collette of Malone, Mayfred Prue of Malone and Margaret Russell of Malone; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Mary in infancy; a son, Richard; three brothers, Howard, Erwin and Clifton Thomas; a great-granddaughter, Gabrielle; and a son-in-law, Michael Benedum.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday at the Spaulding Funeral Home in Malone from 2 to 4 p.m. with funeral services following at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Father Martin Cline officiating. Private interment services will be held at a later date at St. John Bosco Cemetery in Malone.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country or the Malone Adult Center.

Robert John Grimes

KEENE VALLEY -- Robert J. Grimes, 76, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh.

Bob was born in Queens, June 16, 1929, son of the late John and Mary (Williams) Grimes.

He was employed by New York Telephone for more than 35 years retiring in 1992.

Bob was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ticonderoga and enjoyed the outdoors, camping and was an avid Brooklyn Dodgers fan.

He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Lussier.

Surviving are his loving sister, Dorothy Hoops of Baileyville, Maine; eight nephews; and his special friends, Bea Finckel of Keene Valley and Brandon of Keene Valley Central School.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, April 17, at St. James the Greater R.C. Church in Baileyville, Maine. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

Irving J. Sheehan

JAY -- Irving J. Sheehan, 92, of Jay, N.Y., passed away at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh on April 11, 2006.

He was born Dec. 20, 1913, in Barre, Vt., the son of John and Anastasia (Murphy) Sheehan.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1946 and was a member of the AuSable Forks American Legion for over 60 years. He was a member of Holy Name Church in AuSable Forks. He also was a member of the AuSable Forks Rotary for 60 years and served as president and also secretary for several years and a recipient of the Harris Award. He was also one of the founders of the AuSable Forks High School Alumni Association. Irv retired from Northern Insuring in 1978 after working there more than 30 years.

Irv is survived by his wife, Lucille (Boynton) Sheehan; a son, Kevin and his wife Patti; and three grandchildren, Trisa and Trever Sheehan and Ashley Pray. Also surviving him are two sisters, Rita (Sheehan) Zalucki of West Hartford, Conn., and Kathleen (Sheehan) Smith of Somers, Conn. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother and father; a sister, Ida (Sheehan) Haley; and two brothers, Harold and Lewis Sheehan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the AuSable Forks Volunteer Ambulance Fund or the Jay Fire Department.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 12, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, April 13, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church in AuSable Forks with burial to follow at the Jay Central Cemetery in Jay, N.Y.

Lisa A. Trudeau

TICONDEROGA -- Lisa A. Trudeau, 44, of Ticonderoga and formerly of Manchester, N.H., passed away Monday, April 10, 2006, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga.

Born in Exeter, N.H., Aug. 3, 1961, she was the daughter of the late William E. Trofatter and Dorothy D. (Lawrence) Trofatter of Hampton, N.H.

Mrs. Trudeau has been a resident of Ticonderoga since 1991 when she moved here from Manchester, N.H.

In addition to her father, she was also pre-deceased by one brother, Robert Trofatter.

Survivors include her husband, Bernard J. Trudeau Sr.; her mother, Dorothy D. (Lawrence) Trofatter of Hampton, N.H.; two sons, Bernard J. Trudeau Jr. of Saranac Lake and Andrew R. Trudeau of Ticonderoga; two daughters, Anita L. Moore of Peru and Kristin M. Shawney of Dover, N.H.; one brother, Alan Trofatter of Newmarket, N.H.; and two sisters, Dale Perkins of Hampton, N.H., and Linda Trofatter of Greenland, N.H. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will follow on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the family plot of the Sacred Heart Cemetery of Crown Point.

Herbert G. Herron

WEST PLATTSBURGH -- Herbert G. Herron, 92, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2006.

He was born in Dannemora on May 5, 1913, the son of Hugh J. and Josephine (Drollette) Herron.

Herbert graduated from Dannemora High School and was a correction officer in Dannemora for 34 years.

Mr. Herron served in World War II. He completed his basic training at Fort Custer in Grand Rapids, Mich. He was then shipped to Australia and served in the Pacific Theater with General MacArther Advance Headquarters to New Guinea and Philippines during 1943-1946. After several operations onboard ship and at Camp Pendleton Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif., LAPE, he was honorably discharged July 18, 1946, from Rhodes General Hospital in Utica. After which he returned to work until his retirement in 1972.

Herbert was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora and St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville, N.Y.

He married Claire E. Gonyea on April 22, 1941, in St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain by Father Edward Burnes. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage. His life, joy and purpose revolved around his family.

Mr. Herron was a past member of Dannemora Fire Department, American Legion 852, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 125 in Plattsburgh and a life member of the Disabled American Vets 179. He helped form Post 1514 in Dannemora. He served several positions in each Post, County, 4th District and State.

Survivors include his wife, Claire; three daughters and sons-in-law, Harriet and Louis DelSole of Queensbury, N.Y., Sandra and Richard Arruda of Plattsburgh and Nancy and Robert Carter of Kent, Ohio; two granddaughters, Lisa (Joe) Hill of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Deborah DelSole of Malta, N.Y.; one grandson, Mark Carter of Napa, Calif.; two great-grandsons, Timothy Michael Carter of Dayton, Ohio and Matthew Hill of Clifton Park, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Joan Herron of Cadyville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Hugh A. Herron and his twin brother, Herman Herron; three sisters, Marjory Ahern, Marion Wing and Joyce Douglas; one granddaughter, Sheila Marie Canning; and one grandson, Michael Carter.

Calling hours were held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Dannemora. A reception will follow at St. Alexander's Jubilee Hall.

Donations in his name may be made to St. Alexander's Memorial Fund or Masses may be offered in his memory.

CHARLES L. BLAKE II, 85, of the Fox Farm Road, Plattsburgh, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Peru, June 1, 1920, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Blake I.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

ALMET B.E. HARRAN, 88, of Laurel Court, Plattsburgh, died on Monday, April 10, 2006, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Springfield, Mass., on June 8, 1927, son of Steven and Beatrice (Belleau) Harran.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

ROBERT W. BOYEA, 67, of Huntington Street, Malone, died suddenly Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

He was born in Merrill, N.Y., on Jan. 18, 1939, the son of the late Wesley and Pearl Roberts Boyea.

There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 13 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church in Malone. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fort Covington Street, Malone.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service of Malone.
