John D. HathawayKEESEVILLE -- Mr. John D. Hathaway, 50, of Main Street, Keeseville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Sidney, N.Y., on Nov. 24, 1955, the son of John L. and Dorothy S. (Morenus) Hathaway. John had a passion for working with children, playing piano and accordion, baking pies and decorative cakes. He enjoyed the out of doors and woodworking, but will be remembered for his sense of humor. John had taught at the Adirondack Christian Day School and was later principal. He then taught and was principal at New Life Christian Academy in Plattsburgh. His career in educating children spanned 30 years. John was a member of the Willsboro Congregational Church where he played piano and co-director of the choir. He is survived by his parents, John and Dorothy of Sidney Center, N.Y.; his children, Seth Hathaway, USMC, at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Zachary Hathaway of AuSable, Isaac Hathaway of AuSable; two brothers, Jeff Hathaway of Cicero, N.Y., James Hathaway of Sidney Center, N.Y.; one sister, Jeanne Dahl of Sarasota, Fla.; several nieces, nephews; a special friend, Donald Garner of Greensboro, N.C.; dear friends Nancy Marrs of Jay, N.Y., Sally Sheldrake of AuSable, Glenn Cohen of Peru and many other friends also survive him. At John's request, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church, Plattsburgh. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to his family for a trust fund to be established for his children. Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. Francis A. Neri Jr.PLATTSBURGH -- Mr. Francis A. Neri Jr., 63, of Hartwell Street, Plattsburgh, passed away Friday, April 7, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on July 5, 1942, the son of Francis A. and Agnes (Althizer) Neri. Francis enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his family. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church. Francis was predeceased by his father, Francis A. Neri Sr. and his wife Nancy L. Neri. He is survived by a son, Francis A. Neri III and his wife Stephenie of Saranac; a daughter, Rose Breyette of Plattsburgh; a stepson, Michael A. Napolitano and his wife Jocelyn of Cibolo, Texas; two brothers, Edward Althizer of Plattsburgh, Terry Neri of Plattsburgh; a sister, Kathy Moore of Plattsburgh; four grandchildren, Francis and Shawn Neri and Kaithlyn and Andrew Napolitano; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 8:30 p.m. with the Rev. Floyd "Jerry" Bleaux, pastor of Our Lady of Victory Church, officiating. Friends wishing may make donations to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center.
