Marjorie O'Connell

CADYVILLE -- Marjorie O'Connell, 89, formerly of Route 3, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at The Begor Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Sugar Bush, N.Y., on Aug. 26, 1916, the daughter of Dennis and Anna Mary (Mose) Howard.

She married J. Donald O'Connell in 1933 at the Cathedral in Ogdensburg, N.Y.; he died in 1972.

Mrs. O'Connell was a communicant of St. James Church in Cadyville and the Ladies Altar Rosary Society.

She enjoyed her many house plants and reading.

Mrs. O'Connell worked at Pall Blade Co. for several years and later was a nurses aide at the Clinton County Nursing Home for 22 years, retiring in 1979.

Survivors include one son, Roger O'Connell and his wife Deanna of Cadyville; one daughter, Johanna "Jodi" Adams of Plattsburgh; a daughter-in-law, Joan O'Connell of Cadyville; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and neph-ews.

She was predeceased by four sons, Donald "Ducky," Patrick M., S. Ransford and Dennis O'Connell; one daughter, Catherine "Cassie" O'Connell; one grandson, Patrick M. O'Connell Jr.; and one great-grandson, Jerod Provost.

She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. James Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Oriental Shriner's Hospital and Hospice of the North Country.

Evelyn Margaret Nemeth

PORT HENRY -- Evelyn Margaret Nemeth, 84, of Port Henry, completed her Transition on St. Patrick's Day, Friday, March 17, 2006, at her daughter's home. Though she lived most of her life in New York City, she resided in Port Henry for the last six years.

Born in Kearny, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Anton (1893-1971) and Margaret Ilyes (1896-1983) Nemeth.

Evelyn had a distinguished 8-year career as a police officer with the New York City Police Department, after which she worked as an executive secretary for the Dexter-Carpenter Coal Company for 18 years. On vacations, Evelyn was an inveterate traveler, exploring Hungary ("the Old Country") with granddaughter DJ' and parts of the Far East, India, Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii with friends and family.

Survivors include Evelyn's daughter, Ilyes; Ilyes' sons, Jamie Boyajian of Emerson, N.J., and Neil Sanders of Clovis, N.M.; Evelyn's son, Joseph Emru Jr. and his wife Christina of Long Island; and Joe and Tina's two children, Dara Julie and Joseph John III. Our loving 94-year-old family matriarch and keeper of the family records, Margaret Suppan of Manhattan, also remains with us.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Essex County's High Peaks Hospice in Port Henry, which was incredibly thoughtful, professional and supportive throughout Mom's last weeks, would be appreciated.

Deaths

RICHARD B. DeROSIA, 72, of 5 George St., Ticonderoga, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vt.

He was born in Ticonderoga on July 31, 1933, the son of Norman and Eva (Abare) DeRosia.

At his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry, N.Y., is in charge of arrangements.

KATHERINE M. SMITH, 98, formerly of Fawn Ridge Drive, Lake Placid, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at the Seneca View Nursing Facility in Montour Falls, N.Y.

She was born in Bellmont, N.Y., Feb. 23, 1908, the daughter of Theodore and Emma (Dennis) Debyah.

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Monday, April, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The Catholic Daughters, Court Tom Duley, will hold a rosary service Monday evening at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning, April, at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in May.
