Joan M. Garrow

DANNEMORA -- Joan M. Garrow, 77, of Dannemora, was called home surrounded by her loving family Sunday, March 26, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born on Jan. 16, 1929, in Dannemora, the daughter of Irving and Mabel (Garrand) Dukette.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and grandma's house felt like home to everyone. She was employed at Frennette's store in Dannemora for several years, drove a bus for B.O.C.E.S. and later retired from Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility as a nurses aide.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Brent and Kathy Garrow of Plattsburgh, Brenda and Donald "Bonhomme" Goddeau of Beekmantown, Keith Garrow and companion Tina Dezan of Plattsburgh and Cheryl Mangum of Dannemora; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Arlene and Ray Mancuso, Ann Pursel, Barb and Richard Pursel, Marilyn and Donald Pursel, all of Leroy, N.Y., Margaret Churchfield of Buffalo, Rita Dukette of Peru and Victor Ashline of Florida; a close friend, Barb Baughn of Harkness; her grandchildren, Dawn, Mark, Maggie, Jonathan, Zack, Nikki, Danielle, Ed, Kristi, Aaron, Travis, Ryan, Ashley, Megan and Ethan; her great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Joey, Noah, Tyler, Kamryn, Shawnee, Amanda, Montana and Brianna; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Joseph E. Garrow died on Jan. 3, 1990. A son, Mark died in 1971; a granddaughter, Sara Goddeau died in 2004. A brother, Blake Dukette; and a sister, Carol Ashline, also died earlier.

Calling hours were held Tuesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday from St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.

George L. Darrah

WINDSOR, Conn. -- George L. Darrah, 57, of Windsor, Conn., beloved husband of Bonnie (Hamilton) Darrah died Monday, March 6, 2006, at his home.

Born Oct. 11, 1948, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the son of the late George and Marie (Pelkey) Darrah, he lived in New York before moving to Windsor over 30 years ago.

He was a truck driver with Teamsters Local 559 for many years before his retirement. George was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Italian American Club in Windsor Locks.

Besides his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by a son, George N. Darrah of Manchester; a daughter, Charlene Fortenbach and her husband Robert of Tolland; a grandson, Nicholas Robert Fortenbach; a sister, Kathryn Wade and her husband Charles of Manchester; his mother-in-law, Angeline Usher; an uncle, Nicholas Pontillo and his wife Maryann; brother-in-law, Ronald Hamilton; sister-in-law, Dawn Ackerson; sister-in-law, Nancy Winters and her husband Eric; an aunt, Rosemarie Sorensen; six nieces, Josephine, Angeline, Kelly, Debbie, Patty and Trinita; six nephews, Shane, Christopher A., Jimmy, Charles, Quintin and Christopher G.; and many other relatives and friends.

Florence E. Tusa

BEEKMANTOWN -- Mrs. Florence E. Tusa, 74, of Stoney Acres Drive, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side.

She was born in Beekmantown on Aug. 9, 1931, the daughter of John and Margaret (Dowd) Corcoran.

Florence was an excellent seamstress, cook and crafter. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy.

Florence was predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret Corcoran; her husband, Ken Tusa; a brother, Francis Corcoran; and two sisters, Mary Corcoran and Ruth Martin.

She is survived by two sons, Wayne Tusa of New York City and Harley Tusa and his wife Lynn and their son Zachary of Stamford, Conn.; two daughters, Dawn Tusa-Palmer her husband Dr. George Palmer of Plattsburgh and their children Crystal, Gregory, Glenn and Timothy of Plattsburgh and Karen Tusa and her son Matthew of Latham; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Interment will be at a later date at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Chazy.

Lillian Jane Mason

CROWN POINT -- Lillian Jane Mason, 64, of Crown Point, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born in Ticonderoga, Jan. 6, 1942, she was the daughter of the late James G. and Dorothy Mae (Trainor) Blanchard.

Mrs. Mason lived most of her life in Ticonderoga and Crown Point and also lived for several years in Ballston Spa.

She was employed by Curtis Lumber in Ballston Spa for many years. Most recently, she owned and operated the "Poor Man's Paradise Bait and Tackle Shop" of Crown Point.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Lawrence G. Mason; two sons, Dale P. Mason of Ellenburg Depot and Larry J. Mason of Mechanicville; seven brothers, James G. Blanchard of Ticonderoga, Charles E. Blanchard of Crown Point, Paul E. Blanchard of Crown Point, Thomas Blanchard of Crown Point, Robert A. Blanchard of Queensbury, John F. Blanchard of Port Henry and Gary L. Blanchard of Manchester, N.H.; and three sisters, Rose M. Allen, Ramona Jordan and Joan F. Pulling, all of Ticonderoga. She is also survived by five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will take place Friday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Alice Hobbs will officiate. Interment will take place at the family plot of the Congregational Church Cemetery.

GEORGE P. HAMMOND III, of 1306 Route 9, Keeseville, died on Sunday, March 5, 2006, at his home in the presence of family after a long battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh.

SALLY L. EMMONS, 58, of Oswegatchie Trail Road, Oswegatchie, N.Y., died Saturday, March 25, 2006, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y.

She was born in Malone, N.Y., Jan. 15, 1948, the daughter of the late Jessie and Evelyn Cox Parley.

There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Malone. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone.
