Nathalie A. CharlandLYON MOUNTAIN -- Nathalie A. Charland, 72, of First Street, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, surrounded by her family. She was born in Redford on Dec. 16, 1933, daughter of Thomas and Josephine (Rascoe) Collins. Nettie was a graduate of Sallez Academy in Redford. She was a member of the Standish Fire Department Auxiliary; a member of Church of the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Nettie was a dedicated homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. She loved to read, she enjoyed gardening and her family was the center of her life. Nettie is survived by seven children, Thomas and Cynthia Charland of Redford, Kenneth and Sandra Charland of Plattsburgh, Annette and Ron Miner of Redford, David and Sharron Charland of Dannemora, Scott and Rita Charland of Chateaugay, Jeffery and Donna Charland of Altona, Heath and Virginia Charland of West Chazy; six sisters, Rosanna and John Pelletier of Plattsburgh, Juanita Baraniak of Riverview, Barbara Beecher of Redford, Harriett Furnia of Peaseleeville, Geraldine and Paul Mead of Shelburne Falls, Mass., Catherine Furnia of Morrisonville; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Nettie was predeceased by her husband, Euclid Charland; and her parents, Thomas and Josephine Collins. Calling hours will be Sunday, March 19, 2006, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Park Row, Cadyville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 20, 2006, at 10 a.m. from Church of the Assumption in Redford. Burial will be on Friday, May 19, 2006, after 9 a.m. Mass at Church of the Assumption Cemetery in Redford. Donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Sylvia M. BurgessCADYVILLE -- Sylvia M. Burgess, 69, of Rabideau Street, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Cadyville on July 5, 1936, daughter of the late Alfred E. and Clara J. (King) Rock. Sylvia was a graduate of St. John's Academy in 1954 and Loretta Business School in 1955. She was a quilter, an original member of the Champlain Valley Quilting Guild and owned and operated Quilts and More. Sylvia was a member of St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Sylvia is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph H. Burgess of Cadyville; five sons, Steven J. and Anne Burgess of Point au Roche, Jeffrey J. and Peggy Burgess of Las Vegas, Nev., Andrew J. and Susan Burgess of Cadyville, Michael J. Burgess of Cadyville, Edward J. and Sarah Burgess of Plattsburgh; six grandchildren, Anthony Spencer, Sarah Frederick, Garrett, Zachary, Stephanie and Samantha Burgess; one uncle, Harry Garrant; one aunt, Juanita King; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, March 17, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. from Brown Funeral Home, Park Row in Cadyville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 18, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Burial will be later in the year in the parish cemetery. Ronald Frank Joseph LaValleyMOOERS FORKS -- Ronald Frank Joseph LaValley, 69, of Route 11, Mooers Forks, and Silver Springs, Fla., died Monday, March 13, 2006, at the Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla., following a brief illness. Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 19, 2006, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Members of the Monsignor A.M. Gilbert Council 6136 Knights of Columbus of Mooers will gather Sunday at their council home at 3:15 p.m. for a 4:30 p.m. service at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mooers Forks. Most Rev. Robert Cunningham, Bishop of Ogdensburg, will preside. Son, Rev. Terry LaValley, will be principal concelebrant, with Rev. Douglas Lucia as homilist. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Doris (Gadway) LaValley; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra Moore and companion Richard Bushey of Mooers Forks, Sherry and Richard LaBarge of Colchester, Vt., and Sheila and Joseph Miller of Mooers Forks; three sons and one daughter-in-law, the Rev. Terry LaValley of Ogdensburg, Timothy and companion Pamela Weldon of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Scott and Lisa LaValley of Mooers; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Marie Trombley of Ellenburg, and Eileen Blow of Pickens, S.C.; one brother, Richard LaValley of Mooers; and several nieces and nephews. Ronald F.J. LaValley was born in Mooers Forks, June 27, 1936, the son of Andrew J. and Genevieve (Bosley) LaValley. He attended St. Peter's School in Plattsburgh and Mooers Central School. He married Doris Gadway, July 31, 1954, at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks with Monsignor A.M. Gilbert officiating. Ron was a dedicated employee of Wyeth-Ayerst Labs in Rouses Point for more than 43 years prior to retiring. For 20 years, he served as president of the International Chemical Workers Union Local 95. Ron was a Knight of Columbus and parishioner of St. Ann's parish. He was past chairman of the Democrat Party in the Town of Mooers and served 10 years as a member of the Northeastern Clinton Central School Board of Education in Champlain. In his retirement, Ron was elected president of the Silver Lakes Acres Community Club in Silver Springs, Fla. He was predeceased by parents; one brother, Walter LaValley; and one son-in-law, George Moore. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ronald's memory may be made to the St. Ann's Church, Mooers Forks, or the Mooers Rescue Squad. Roland H. PalangeKEENE -- Roland H. Palange, 75, of Hurricane Road, Keene, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 16, 1930, the son of Ernest and Mary (Lombardo) Palange. He graduated from Fordham University with a bachelor's degree in arts and history. He was a member of the Armed Forces during the Korean War and worked as an undercover agent with the ClC in Europe and Africa. He moved his family to this area in 1960 because he loved the Adirondacks and especially the Keene area. He received his teaching masters from SUNY Plattsburgh. He taught history in the Keene Central School for many years. He loved his family, his home, his cats and enjoyed doing his artwork, woodworking and working outside around his home. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Tim Callander of Latham, N.Y.; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Zata Palange of Coeyman's Hollow, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Logan and his wife Dale Callander and Tucker Callander of Latham, Darius Palange and Isabella Palange, both of Coeyman's Hollow; and a great-granddaughter, Portia Callander of Latham; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Marvin's Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth's Church in Elizabethtown. A reception will follow the service at Baxter Mountain Tavern in Keene. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery in Keene in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

BONITA WINCH, 63, died March 16, 2006, at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. She was born Jan. 1, 1943, in Black Brook, N.Y., the daughter of Ernest and Valda (Douglas) Bombard.
