John G. Christon

CADYVILLE -- John G. Christon, 78, of Rabideau Street, died Friday, March 10, 2006, at his residence, surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice.

He was born in Cadyville on March 16, 1927, the son of George and Elizabeth (Rabideau) Christon.

John was a communicate of St. James Church in Cadyville.

Mr. Christon was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy Seebees and took part in the liberation of the Philippine Islands.

John retired in 1981 from the Union of Operating Engineers 106 in Albany. He was a lifetime member of Post 1619 American Legion in West Plattsburgh and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125, Boynton Avenue, Plattsburgh. He was also a member of the Cadyville Fire Department, retiring after serving 29 years as a full time volunteer and also assistant chief. He spent several years helping out with the Boy Scouts Troop 44 and assisting at Camp Bedford.

He owned and operated Christon's Sand and Gravel in Morrisonville. After his retirement, his greatest pleasure was his daily run to the pit and the woods beyond with his grandchildren to look for wild animals along with spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Marion St. Louis; four sons, George Christon and his wife Peg of Morrisonville, Clifton Christon and his wife Michelle of Schuyler Falls, David Christon and his wife Cindy of Morrisonville and Larry Christon and his wife Beth of Cadyville; one daughter, Judy Furst and her husband Mark of Jefferson, Ga.; 18 grandchildren, Suzanne and Hugh Drollette, Barbara and Mike Drollette, George Christon, Missy, Katie and Jessica Christon, John and Mark Furst, Adam, Travis, Nikole and Kayla Christon, Heidi and Jason Christon, Kevin, Ted and Melissa Doherty and Spencer and Taylor Christon; four great-grandchildren, Eric and Joshua Drollette, Michael Drollette and Eden Christon.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at noon at St. James Church in Cadyville.

Burial will be at a later date in the parish cemetery.

In his memory, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country and FitzPatrick Cancer Center.

Armond H. Frederick Sr.

PLATTSBURGH -- Armond H. Frederick Sr., 88, formerly of Pine Street, Plattsburgh, died Thursday, March 9, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on May 13, 1917, the son of Herbert and Lenore (Giroux) Frederick.

Armond was a veteran of World War II. He was a supervisor for National Biscuit Bakery in Plattsburgh for 38 years. Armond was a communicate of St. Peter's Church.

He married Rhea Gebo in Plattsburgh on Aug. 16, 1941.

Armond was well known by his sense of humor, love for his family, camping, PHS basketball games, Frederick's coffee trucks, where he served many people his famous Michigans at auctions, races, Clinton County Fair and business sights around the area.

To Armond, everyone was a good guy.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Armond and Bonnie Frederick of Schuyler Falls and Brian and Annette Frederick of Beekmantown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lenora and Mac Purcell of Plattsburgh and Linda and Rick Martin of Plattsburgh; nine grandchildren; and 10 great - grandchildren. He is also survived by two special sisters-in-law, Geraldine Gebo and Velma Hughes and two brothers-in-law, Lee Gebo and Phil Gebo; and several nieces and nephews.

Armond was predeceased by his parents; his wife Rhea; and a sister, Leona Clukey.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church.

Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.

Deaths

WILHELMINA COONROD AUBIN, 91, died Friday, March 10, 2006, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital in Elizabethtown.

She was born July 30, 1914, in Lewis, the daughter of Benjamin and Loretta (Mitchell) Coonrod.
