Doris Albee KirkbyESSEX -- Doris Albee Kirkby of Essex died of natural causes at age 96 in Plattsburgh on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006. Doris and her twin sister Hazel were born May 28, 1909, to Harry W. Albee and Hattie (Hoyt) Albee in Marshfield, Maine. She grew up in Maine, Massachusetts and New York, and married Oswald Kirkby in 1937 in a double wedding ceremony with her brother, Harry W. Albee Jr. and sister-in-law, Marjorie (Galston) Albee. After her marriage, Doris lived in Englewood, N.J., before settling in her Essex home on what is now called Albee Lane after her family. Doris graduated with the first class at the Physicians Hospital School of Nursing and attended Columbia University and the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. After the war, she worked as a school nurse at Westport Central School until her retirement in 1974. Doris was a lifelong feminist and liberal Democrat. She took an active interest in politics throughout her life, serving as Democratic State Committeewoman from 1951 to 1960. She was an advocate for women's rights and for every child's right to security, health care and education. Doris was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and played golf with her former husband and his friend, Babe Ruth. Doris is survived by her twin sister, Hazel Albee; daughter and son-in-law, Olive and Donald Alexander; nieces, Maxine Cochran and Connie Wolfe; granddaughters Teri Campbell and Kelly Howell; and great-grandchildren Ian Campbell, Colin Campbell, Austen Howell and Taylor Howell. Doris has requested no services, but a family celebration of her life will be held this summer. The O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements. Michael P. McCarthyMASSENA -- Michael P. McCarthy, 65, of 21 Park Ave., Massena, N.Y., died 3:50 p.m. Monday afternoon, Feb. 27, 2006, at his home, under the loving care of his family and hospice. He had been in failing health for the past several years. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena with the Rev. Eunice Tabor presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Among his survivors is his wife Bonnie; his parents, Raymond and Shiley McCarthy of Deland, Fla.; three daughters and two sons, Cynthia Sharpe, Mrs. Chris (Patti) Kellogg, both of Massena, Samantha McCarthy of Burlington, Vt., Jeremiah and Noah McCarthy, both at home; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Jacob and Joseph Kellogg and Jonah Sharpe, all of Massena; a sister, Mrs. Douglas (Patricia) Wrex of Orange City, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Born May 6, 1940, in Saranac Lake, N.Y., he was the son of Raymond and Shirley (Tanzini) McCarthy; a graduate of Saranac Lake High School in 1959, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Married Bonnie McCarthy July 30, 1953, in Milford, Conn. Attended culinary school in Watertown, later went to work at the former Chevrolet Plant in Massena, retiring from G.M. Powertrain in 1981 as a Trim & Die Inspector. Past member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge. He was a car enthusiast, enjoyed restoring vintage cars and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Phillips Memorial Home, Inc., 64 Andrews St., Massena, N.Y. Theresa I. MacCallumROUSES POINT -- Theresa I. MacCallum, 78, of Rouses Point, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2006, at her home. She was born Oct. 3, 1927, in Plattsburgh, the daughter of Howard and Alice Rock. She worked at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point for 27 years. She was also an avid bowler. Her parents; her husband Leo; and one brother, Rudy Rock, predeceased Theresa. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Karen Lemieux of Massachusetts, Michael and Linda Lemieux of Rouses Point, Brian and Debbie Lemieux of Champlain; two daughters, Kathy Guay and her husband Vinnie of Rouses Point, Alice Lemieux and her companion Danny Sutherland of Champlain; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Nancy Rock of Morrisonville, Kermit and Ann Rock of Troy; one sister, Marion St. Dennis and her husband James of Morrisonville; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Theresa is also survived by three stepsons, Jimmy MacCallum of Vermont, Greg MacCallum of Rouses Point and Timmy MacCallum and his wife Michelle of Buffalo. Calling hours will be Friday, March 3, 2006, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006, at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center. Carl C. WayPERU -- Carl C. Way, 71, of the Telegraph Road, Peru, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh, Aug. 15, 1934, the son of Clyde and Beulah (Wells) Way. He was a 1952 graduate of Peru Central School. Carl then served in Korea with the U.S. Army. He worked for 40 years at Georgia Pacific in Plattsburgh, prior to retiring in 1994. Carl excelled at shuffle board and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He also enjoyed following politics. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Irene (Duprey) Way of Peru, whom he married Feb. 8, 1958, at the Peru Community Church; two daughters and their fiancés, Pamela Way and Brian Morosco of St. Augustine's, Fla., and Ann Lucas and Richard Marks of Plattsburgh; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Timothy Way and fiancée Tina Bates of Peru and Jeff and Robin Way of Peru; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Tina Way of Keeseville and Harold and Joan Way of West Chazy; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Patricia Fournier of Peru, and Beverly and Raymond Blaise of Keeseville; six grandchildren, Brandon Way, Colby Way, Taylor Lucas, Tyler Way, James Blocker and Zachary Blocker; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and. one sister, Rose Gonyea. Calling hours will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Peru Community Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert F. Svenson, pastor, celebrating. Burial will be in the spring in God's Acre Cemetery in Peru. Donations in Carl's memory may be made to the Peru Rescue Squad. Harry J. FurmanROUSES POINT -- Harry J. Furman was born in Staten Island, N.Y., on March 29, 1913, to Rose Kushner and Morris Furman. He married Dorothy Morris in Plattsburgh on Dec. 21, 1941. He served as a First Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II in England and the European Theater. He owned and operated Furman Department Store in Rouses Point with his wife Dorothy from 1947 to 1968. He managed various men's stores in Plattsburgh from 1968 to 1980. He was a Grand Master of the Champlain Masonic Lodge, a member of the Rouses Point American legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and president of the former Champlain Central P.T.A. In addition he was a member of the Champlain Chamber of Commerce, the Rouses Point Golf Club and Temple Beth Israel in Plattsburgh. Mr. Furman was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Dorothy in 2004; sisters, Betty and Sylvia. He is survived by his brother, Hal of Eugene, Ore.; his three children, Marvin of Vancouver, Wash., Rick of Montreal, Quebec and Jan of Mont Clair, N.J.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Temple Beth Israel in Plattsburgh on Friday, March 3, 2006, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Temple Beth Israel Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Following the cemetery services, a luncheon will be held at Temple Beth Israel in Plattsburgh. The family will receive visitors and sit Shiva at the family home, 90 Maple St. in Rouses Point from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2006. There will be a Shiva on Monday, March 6, 2006, from 2 to 8 p.m. at 409 Highland Ave., Mont Claire, N.J. Donations may be made in Mr. Furman's name to Temple Beth Israel in Plattsburgh or the United Jewish Appeal.

Feb. 27, 2006, at the WW Backus Hospital in Norwich, Conn.
She was born on June 5, 1940, in Port Henry, N.Y., the daughter of the
late William and Grace (Palmer) Morin.
There are no calling hours. The funeral will assemble on Saturday on 9
a.m. at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Road, Route 138,
Jewett City, Conn. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's
Church, Jewett City. Burial will follow in Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold.
