Roland H. Palange

KEENE -- Roland H. Palange, 75, of Hurricane Road, Keene, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on July 16,1930, the son of Ernest and Mary (Lombardo) Palange.

He graduated from Fordham University with a bachelor's degree in arts and history. He was a member of the Armed Forces during the Korean War and worked as an undercover agent with the CIC in Europe and Africa.

He moved his family to this area in 1960 because he loved the Adirondacks and especially the Keene area. He received his teaching masters from SUNY Plattsburgh. He taught history in the Keene Central School for many years. He loved his family, his home, his cats and enjoyed doing his artwork, woodworking and working outside around his home.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Tim Callander of Latham, N.Y.; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Zata Palange of Coeyman's Hollow, N.Y.; four grandchildren; Logan and his wife Dale Callander and Tucker Callander of Latham, Darius Palange and Isabella Palange both of Coeyman's Hollow; and a great-granddaughter, Portia Callander of Latham; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday, March 17, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Marvins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth's Church in Elizabethtown. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery in Keene in the spring.

Anna D'Antuono

LYON MOUNTAIN -- Anna D'Antuono, 93, formerly of Lyon Mountain and Providence, R.I., died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at the Farrar Home, Malone, N.Y.

Born in Lyon Mountain, N.Y. on Nov. 10, 1912, she was the daughter of Alexander and Melvina (Cheska) Kourofsky.

She was married to Francis D'Antuono on Oct. 7, 1940, in Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, Providence, R.I. He predeceased her on Sept. 21, 1978.

Mrs. D'Antuono is survived by a sister, Mary Stunzi of Saranac Lake, N.Y.; four brothers and their wives, John Kourofsky of Dannemora, N.Y., Alexander and Estelle Kourofsky of Lyon Mountain, N.Y., Francis and Betty Kourofsky of Silver Bay, Minn., and Walter and Rita Kourofsky of Lyon Mountain, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Eileen Kourofsky of Lyon Mountain, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Stanley, Joseph, and Anthony Kourofsky; a sister, Anastasia Fadden.

Mrs. D'Antuono left Lyon Mountain after graduating from high school at age 18. She lived most of her life in Providence, R.I., and returned to the North Country in April 2003. She was employed in the hotel industry for many years including the Builtmore Hotel in Providence, R.I. She was active with Senior Citizens of Hope, Kelley-Gazzero Senior Citizens and a communicant of St. Anthony's Church.

Calling hours will be held at Lyon Mountain Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, from noon to 2 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 2 p.m. in St. Bernard's Church. Burial will take place Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston, R.I. Arrangements are through the Chateaugay Funeral Home.

Lucille Margaret McNulty

PORT HENRY -- Lucille Margaret McNulty, 94, formerly of Port Henry, passed away at the Horace Nye Nursing Home, Elizabethtown, N.Y., on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006.

She was born in Port Henry on Feb. 8, 1912, the daughter of John and Grace (Edwards) Hickey.

Lucille attended Champlain Academy and graduated from Sherman Park Seminary.

In 1932, she was selected as Queen of the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Lucille attended the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid as an honored guest of the Olympic Committee.

Lucille married James E. McNulty on Nov. 19, 1933. They subsequently moved into the Lee House Hotel and made their home there for many years as owners and operators. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Lucille is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Ann Brewster of Saranac Lake and Mary and Joseph Gilbo of Port Henry. She is also survived by two brothers, William Hickey and his wife Marion of Port Henry and John Krieger of Sterling Heights, Mich.; her sister, Molly Brooks of Roseville, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, James and Gwen Brewster of Sioux City, Iowa, Robert Brewster of Baltimore, Md., Thomas Brewster of Plattsburgh, Elizabeth Brewster Morgan and husband Dermott of Saranac Lake, Michael Brewster and Amey Stone of New York City, Kathleen and Denis O'Rourke of Bronxville, Stacey and Michael deAvila, Peter and Rebecca Gilbo, Lisa and Stephen Pelkey, Amey and Philip Smith, Beth and Edmund Trombley, Jennifer Gilbo and Megan Gilbo, all of Port Henry. Lucille is also survived by 19 great- grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, James E. McNulty; her brothers, Lt. John Hickey, who was killed in World War II and Thomas Hickey and James Kregar. Her sister, Madeleine (Hickey) Reardon.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Port Henry, with Monsignor John McAvoy officiating.

Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in the spring.

Donations in Lucille's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Deaths

VIRGINIA RUSSELL, 58, of Route 9, Plattsburgh, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family members and under the care of Hospice of the North Country.

Virginia was born in Plattsburgh, Jan. 3, 1948, daughter of Erwin and Agnes (Dashnaw) Macey.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later in the year in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
