Lucille Margaret McNulty

PORT HENRY -- Lucille Margaret McNulty, 94, formerly of Port Henry, passed away at the Horace Nye Nursing Home, Elizabethtown, N.Y., on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006.

She was born in Port Henry on Feb. 8, 1912, the daughter of John and Grace (Edwards) Hickey.

Lucille attended Champlain Academy and graduated from Sherman Park Seminary.

In 1932, she was selected as Queen of the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Lucille attended the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid as an honored guest of the Olympic Committee.

Lucille married James E. McNulty on Nov. 19, 1933. They subsequently moved into the Lee House Hotel and made their home there for many years as owners and operators. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Lucille is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Ann Brewster of Saranac Lake and Mary and Joseph Gilbo of Port Henry. She is also survived by two brothers, William Hickey and his wife Marion of Port Henry and John Krieger of Sterling Heights, Mich.; 13 grandchildren, James Brewster and Gwen of Sioux City, Iowa, Robert Brewster of Baltimore, Md., Thomas Brewster of Plattsburgh, Elizabeth Brewster and Dermott Morgan of Saranac Lake, Michael Brewster and Amy Stone of New York City, Kathleen and Denis O'Rourke of Bronxville, Stacey and Michael deAvila, Peter and Rebecca Gilbo, Lisa and Stephen Pelkey, Amy and Phillip Smith, Beth and Edmund Trombley, Jennifer Gilbo and Megeen Gilbo, all of Port Henry. Lucille is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, James E. McNulty; her brothers, Lt. John Hickey, who was killed in World War II and Thomas Hickey; and her sister, Madeleine (Hickey) Reardon.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Port Henry, with Monsignor John McAvoy officiating.

Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in the spring.

Donations in Lucille's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Mark A. Greenleaf

BROOKTONDALE, N.Y. -- Mark A. Greenleaf, age 50, of 539 Brooktondale Road., Brooktondale, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at the Hospicare Residence, Ithaca, N.Y. Mark was born March 11, 1955, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., a son of Frederick A. Greenleaf of Ithaca and the late Evelyn (Morrison) Greenleaf.

Mark graduated from Ithaca High School in 1973 and from Cornell University with a bachelor of science in plant pathology in 1978. He relocated to Washington, D.C., and was employed for 25 years at the District of Columbia Department of Health, retiring after a distinguished career in 2003 as the Bureau Chief. He was an avid outdoorsman and talented artist, who specialized in painting birds and wildlife. He also taught and enjoyed Zydeco and Cajun dance. Mark's passion for life will endure through his family and his many friends.

Survivors include his father, Frederick A. Greenleaf of Ithaca; his brother, Stephen T. (Jacquieline DeRosa) Greenleaf of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; his sisters, Anne D. (Herschel) Greenleaf-Gorbein of Loudonville, N.Y., Jeanne C. (Ernesto) Tolentino of Pasadena, Calif., Nancy E. (Ronald) Woodard of Ithaca and Carol P. Greenleaf of Albany, N.Y.; and his canine companion, Wren. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

His mother, Evelyn M. Greenleaf, died Nov. 21, 1999.

A celebration of Mark's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Anabell Taylor Hall, Cornell University, in Ithaca, N.Y. Burial will be private.

There are no prior calling hours. However, there will be a reception in the Founders Room across the hall from the chapel following the celebration.

Regina N. Anstey

ST. ALBANS, Vt. -- Mrs. Regina M. "Jean" Anstey, age 84, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, in the Burlington Rehab Center, following an extended illness with heart complications. She was born in Swanton, Vt., on July 2, 1921, daughter of the late Joseph and Rosina (Savoy) Roberts.

In her younger years, she was employed at General Electric and later became a nurses aide for Holiday House Nursing Home. Jean was a member of the Church of the Rock and was an avid card player. She adored her feline friend "Molly."

She was married to Thomas Anstey, who died Nov. 11, 1991.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Patricia and her husband Brian Wells of Colchester, Vt., Star Lavoie of North Carolina; daughter-in-law Sandra Simpson of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, Robert and his wife Lisa Simpson, Robin Simpson and companion Mark Varin, Julie Simpson and companion Casey Burdeau, Dina Quinneville and companion Jay Menard, Renee and her husband Rod Threet, Christopher and his wife Dorothy Simpson, Kellie Quinneville, Ronald and his wife Shannon Hamel, Matthew Hamel and his fiancée Sandra, Luke Wells and his companion Jess; great-grandchildren, Alex, T.J., Lauren, Cori-Ann, Adrianna, Dylan, Zack, Marisa, Cameron, Dearia, Ryan, Joel and Brittany; a great-great grandson, Cole; sisters and brothers and their spouses, Rosina and William Burnham of Greenfield, Mass., James and Norma Roberts of Sheldon, Rita and Tom Koledo of Springfield; sister-in-law, Shirley Anstey of Sheldon; a special friend, Cindy Bailey; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and her husband, Jean was predeceased by her son, Robert Simpson in 1998; and her great-granddaughter, Kelsie Spense in 2002.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. in the Church of the Rock, Fairfax Road, St. Albans, Vt. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in the Anstey family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery in Swanton.

Benson I. Harrison

PLATTSBURGH -- Benson I. Harrison, 91, of Broadway Road, passed away on Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Schenectady on Nov. 13, 1914, son of David and Minny (Feinberg) Harrison.

Benson made his home in Plattsburgh from 1960 to 1973, then Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for 25 years and has made his home in Plattsburgh since. He was the owner and operator of Aristocrat Food Market in Schenectady and then Harrison Auto Supply in Plattsburgh until his retirement in 1973. Benson enjoyed bowling and golf. He was a member of the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge 621 in Plattsburgh. Benson was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Benson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Zahava Harrison of Plattsburgh; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Eric Stoller of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Florence Levine of Schenectady; five grandchildren, Natalie Reif and her husband Joseph Reif Jr., Jessica Repko and her husband John Repko, Rachel Harrison, Todd Stoller and his wife Hope, Greg Stoller; four great-grandchildren, Joey Charles Reif III, Sarah Reif, Abby Oliveri, Julia Repko; and several nieces and nephews.

Benson was predeceased by his wife, Rachel; his sisters, Sophie, Lena; his brothers, Minham, Rueben, Harry and Hyman.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at 11 a.m. from Beth Israel Synagogue Cemetery in Schenectady. Pallbearers will be Stuart Harrison, Joe Reif, Joey Reif, Harland Harrison and John Repko. The Harrison family will be receiving friends at the family home on 12 Broadway Road, Plattsburgh, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday starting at noon.

Virginia Marie Russell

PLATTSBURGH -- Virginia Marie Russell, 58, of Route 9, Plattsburgh, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family members and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. Virginia was born in Plattsburgh, Jan. 3, 1948, daughter of Erwin and Agnes (Dashnaw) Macey.

Virginia was a graduate of Our Lady of Victory Academy. She was employed at Georgia Pacific until she became disabled in the late 1980s. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends, listening to WIRY and shopping.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, John H. Russell; two sons, Randy S. Russell and wife Tammy of Morrisonville, Dean M. Russell and his companion Melissa of Altona; a daughter, Julie A. Bell and her husband Randy of Beekmantown; her mother, Agnes Macey of Saranac; sisters, Veleda Praeger of Tennessee, Ruth Macey of Plattsburgh, Mildred Stoughton of Saranac, Yvonne Price and her husband Carl of Ohio, Eva Hodge and her husband Wayne of Ohio, Cheryl Campbell of Ellenburg Depot; brothers, Allen Macey and wife Claire of Morrisonville, Robert and Dale Macey of Plattsburgh, Marvin and wife Pam of Plattsburgh, Leeward and Brian Macey of Saranac; six grandchildren, Cody and Colby Russell, Madison and Lucas Russell, Chelsea and Lukas Benway; and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia was predeceased by her father, Erwin Macey; two brothers, Dwayne and Eugene Macey; and a sister, Phyllis Kobusinski.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later in the year in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Ruth L. (Maas) Senefelder

PLATTSBURGH -- Ruth L. Senefelder (nee Maas), formerly of Buffalo and Tonawanda, N.Y., passed from this life on Feb. 23, 2006, at the age of 91 in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Urban; and seven siblings.

She was devoted to her two daughters and their families, Judy Kim and her husband Duck of Peru, N.Y., and their son David and Diane Mac Farland and her husband Chris of Washington State and their son, Gavin and his wife Angela and their son Evan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to honor Ruth will be held in Buffalo for family and friends at a future time.

Knowing Ruth's love of children, those desiring may make a contribution to an organization promoting the care and nurturing of the young.

THERESA J. DEBYAH, 77, of Okeechobee Court, Grove City, Ohio, and formerly of South Bangor, N.Y., died Feb. 23, 2006, at her daughter's home in Grove City, while under the loving care of her family and Hospice.

She was born in Malone, N.Y., on Nov. 3, 1928, the daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (LaFountain) Greenwood.

Calling hours will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in the Bangor Cemetery in South Bangor in the spring.
