Robert H. Morrison

WAPPINGERS FALLS -- Robert H. Morrison, 72, a local resident since 1958, previously of Plattsburgh, N.Y., died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie.

Mr. Morrison began his teaching career in Speculator, N.Y. He was a teacher/administrator for the Wappingers Central School District for 32 years, retiring in 1991. He was the former principal at Vassar Road School and Brinkerhoff Elementary School.

Mr. Morrison was a member of the N.Y.S. Teacher's Association and a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the 148th Infantry, 37th Division.

Born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on June 10, 1933, he was a son of T. Harry and Emma Goodhardt Morrison.

He earned several certificates of advanced study from Champlain College, attended St. John's Academy in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and earned his Bachelor and Master's Degree from Plattsburgh State Teacher's College.

On May 28, 1955, he married Joan W. Welstead Morrison at St. Anthony's Church in W. Harrison, N.Y., Mrs. Morrison survives at home.

His children and grandchildren were greatly adored by their father and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Susan M. Oberst and husband Richard Jr., of Wappingers Falls, Kenneth B. Morrison of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Michael S. Morrison and wife Denise of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; grandchildren, Christine Lynn Oberst, Kimberly Marie Oberst, Kelly Ann Oberst and Matthew Robert and Emily Marie Morrison; two brothers, James Morrison and wife Kathleen, of Westerlo, N.Y., and Thomas Morrison and wife Mary of Albany, N.Y.; one sister, Janice Clermont of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and four godchildren, Lois Clermont Grady, Richard Chauvin, Lisa Bennett and Katie Heath. He is also survived by many, many dear friends.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Morrison Greenleaf and Dorothy Morrison Pirro.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Delehanty Funeral Home, 64 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Plattsburgh, N.Y., at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will also be held in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

John Lawrence Sr.

SCHUYLER FALLS -- John Lawrence Sr., 60, of Salmon River Road, Schuyler Falls, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Glens Falls on June 16, 1945, the son of the late Ted and Blanch (Charlebois) Lawrence.

He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1969.

John was a mechanic for Fort Edward Express prior to opening J.M. Truck Service in Plattsburgh. He was most recently employed with Northeast Concrete in Plattsburgh.

John was a member of Plattsburgh Moose Lodge 2390 and American Legion Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed watching Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Survivors include his three children and their spouses, Carol Lawrence of Peasleeville, John Jr. and Tammy Lawrence of Plattsburgh and Kim and John Costello of Plattsburgh; his wife, Carol (Blow) Lawrence of Plattsburgh; three grandsons, Brendan, Kyle and Tyler; one sister; six brothers; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. Members of Plattsburgh Moose Lodge 2390 will meet at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Members of American Legion Post 1619 will meet at the funeral home at 7 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home with the Rev. William G. Reamer, CVPH chaplain, officiating.

Jane Louise Stafford Garvey

WILLSBORO, NY -- Jane Louise Stafford Garvey, 76, died Saturday Feb. 4, 2006, as the result of an accident.

She was born in Willsboro, N.Y., on Aug. 25, 1929, the oldest child of Walter and Doris (Higby) Stafford.

Jane was a friendly and gentle soul who in time of need was always available and kept her family together.

She was a member of the Willsboro United Methodist Church and the Iroquois Chapter 562 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a 1948 graduate of Albany Business College and had a flair for rapidly calculating numbers which amazed her peers. After graduation she was employed by the Essex County National Bank. It is now the Champlain National Bank and she has been a loyal and dedicated employee for 57 years.

She was predeceased by her parents; and the love of her life, her husband, Michael.

She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia LaPoint of Keeseville; one grandson, Patrick Soroka of Berlin, N.Y.; her mother-in-law, Della Garvey of Reber; brothers and sisters and spouses, Raymond and Peggy Stafford of Norfolk, N.Y., Kenneth and fiancée Rita Farrell of Willsboro, N.Y., Eunice and Earl Jones of Selkirk, N.Y., Rodney and Rosalie Stafford of Florida, Constance Pattee of Gansevoort, N.Y., and Spencer and Eleanor Stafford of Willsboro, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Huestis Funeral Home in Willsboro on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with The Order of the Eastern Star meeting at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at the Huestis Funeral Home 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006. Burial will be in the Memorial Cemetery on the Essex Road, Willsboro in the spring.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials in her memory be made to the Willsboro/Reber Rescue Squad.

Adelaide S. Mace

CROWN POINT, NY -- Adelaide S. Mace, 95, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006.

She was born in Saranac Lake, the daughter of Fredrick and Emma Brunell Sweatt.

She married Dermot S. Mace of Saranac Lake Aug. 11, 1938.

She graduated from Eastman School of Dental Hygiene in Rochester, N.Y., and was a dental hygienist for Essex County and BOCES.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Keith and Nancy Brannock of Ticonderoga; her son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Agatha Mace of Crown Point; grandchildren, Lori Mosher and husband Randolph of Warrensburg and Jared Mace of Arlington, Va.; and great-granddaughter, Miranda Mosher of Forestville, N.Y.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Crown Point Emergency Squad.

Genevieve M. LeClair

DANNEMORA -- Genevieve M. LeClair, 82, of Dannemora died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at Meadowbrook Nursing Facility in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Redford on May 28, 1923, the daughter of Leo and Dora (Laware) Coulon.

Genevieve married Bernard LeClair on Aug. 12, 1946, in Dannemora, he predeceased her on Nov. 24, 1983.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bernard "Beeze" and Sara LeClair of Dannemora; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Laurie Mato of Dannemora, Ginny and Tom Haley of Dannemora and MaryJane and Adolfo Aparicio of Melbourne, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Joan Coulon of Dannemora; one sister and brother-in-law, Madelyn and William Donahue of Dannemora; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Burial will be at a later date in St. Edmund's Cemetery in Ellenburg.

Ruth Helen Barnes

CHATEAUGAY -- Ruth Helen Barnes, 86, of West Main Street, Chateaugay died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, N.Y.

She was born in Mooers Forks, N.Y., on July 12, 1919, the daughter of Allen and Carolyn (Nichols) Parks.

She was married to Gerald D. Barnes on May 9, 1942, in Mooers Forks, N.Y., by Rev. Russell at the home of her parents. He predeceased her on May 27, 1998.

She was a member of the Chateaugay United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Richard Blanchard of Burke, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law,

Blanche Robinson of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Margaret Barnes of Chateaugay, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and a son, Stephen G. Barnes on Oct. 19, 1985.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 9 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chateaugay United Methodist Church with Rev. Joy Shaffer officiating. Spring burial will take place at Eastside Cemetery in Chateaugay.

James Carmen Tasciotti

DELAND, FLA. -- James Carmen Tasciotti, 91, longtime resident of Elizabethtown, N.Y., died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at his residence in DeLand, Fla.

Mr. Tasciotti was born July 16, 1914, in Rome, Italy.

He and his wife, Susan, attended St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and were members of the Italian Club of Plattsburgh.

Mr. Tasciotti owned and operated Mid-Island Machine in Westbury, N.Y., for 24 years. Mr. Tasciotti was an active participant in the senior games of New York, winning sports and dancing medals. He and Susan entertained residents of the Horace Nye and other area nursing homes as volunteers with the Contra Dancers and Kitchen Band.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Susan Barbara Tasciotti of DeLand, Fla.; two children, James Arthur Tasciotti of Babylon, N.Y., and Louis Chris Tasciotti of Plano, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, June Carol Mule' .

Mr. Tasciotti will be interred at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Elizabethtown, N.Y.

HILDA I. CHILTON, 82, formerly of Ellenburg, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at the Brooke Grove Nursing Center in Sandy Spring, Md.

She was born in Cannonsville, N.Y., on Jan. 26, 1924, the daughter of Coburn and Viola (Currier) Young.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Ellenburg Corners United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Sheldon Hill Cemetery in Ellenburg Depot in the spring.
