Gloria Rita Peterson

PLATTSBURGH -- Gloria Rita Peterson, 80, of Plattsburgh, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Mrs. Peterson was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Plattsburgh. She was the daughter of Dominic and Exina (Rabidoux) Baker.

She attended local schools and married John Lawrence Peterson on June 3, 1950. Gloria was a homemaker, a loving wife and loving mother.

Survivors include three sons, Wayne Peterson of Plattsburgh, Lawrence Peterson of Plattsburgh and Steven Peterson of Plattsburgh; three grandchildren, Almeda Cadieux, Shaunie Cadieux and Elizabeth Peterson; one half brother, Lawrence Clukey and his wife Loretta of Florida; an adopted sister, Mabel Mickritz and her husband Mickey of Florida; and a sister-in-law, Olga Pietrafesa of Utica, N.Y. Survivors also include several nieces, nephews; cousins; many dear friends; and loving caregivers.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, on Feb. 18, 1977; and a son, Daniel Peterson.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5, at M.B. Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Third Age Alzheimer's Center, State University of New York at Plattsburgh, Sibley Hall, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.

Francis M. Wilkins

WILLSBORO -- Francis M. Wilkins, 92, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, in the Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Fla., after a short illness. He was born in Jay, N.Y., on May 23, 1913, the eldest son of Nathaniel and Lillian (Potter) Wilkins.

Mr. Wilkins was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Essex, N.Y. He was employed with the J&J Rogers Paper Co. in AuSable Forks for 23 years. Part of that time was interrupted while he served in the U.S. Air Force in the Pacific Theatre and was promoted to PFC. He was stationed in Honolulu and was in charge of the post exchange at Wheeler Field Air Base.

In 1952, he and his family moved to Corinth, N.Y., where he was employed in the steam plant of International Paper Company. Upon his retirement in 1975 he and his family moved to Willsboro, where he was employed as the gardener on the Partridge Estate owned by Mrs. Dorothy Hall Swinebart.

Bucky, as he was fondly called, is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Richard), whom he married in 1942. They have five sons, Gale and wife Leslie of Willsboro, Robert and wife Jill of Corinth, Michael and wife Mary Beth of Charlotte, N.C., Anthony of Naples, Fla., and Patrick and wife Terry of Queensbury; five grandchildren, Kathryn Graham, Felicia Wilkins, Victoria Wilkins, Sara Wilkins and Matthew Wilkins; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Sheila, Kaitlyn and Ethan. He is also survived by three sisters, Gertrude Wells and Ester Rondeau of AuSable Forks and Betty Sutton of Waton, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one grandson, Eric Wilkins; four sisters, Violet Passino, Nina Pignone, Dorthy Betters and Doris Wilkins; and five brothers, Alston, Lawrence, Roland, Leslie and Howard Wilkins.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date in the spring.

The Huestis Funeral Home, Willsboro, is entrusted with local arrangements.

Walter Remis Chenier

FORT EDWARD, N.Y. -- Walter Remis Chenier, a resident of Fort Hudson Nursing Center, died on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006.

Born April 13, 1926, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Remis and Eva (LaForest) Chenier.

Walter attended Glens Falls High School. While attending Princeton University on scholarship, he made the decision to enlist in the Army, where he served in Germany and France at the end of World War II.

He worked for New York Telephone Company starting out as a lineman in Glens Falls, moving to Utica, where he also became Supervisor for the Town of Westmoreland and eventually retiring in Plattsburgh as District Engineer.

He was very active in the Telephone Pioneers of America, often traveling as the Eastern Area Representative.

Walter was a true outdoorsman. His retirement years were spent living on the Schroon River and in Vero Beach, Fla., where he did environmental research volunteer work in Adirondack Park and Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute respectively. He was truly happiest floating in his canoe pretending to be fishing. Many family, friends, and strangers will remember him for his kindness and generosity.

He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis M. (Parrish) Chenier; and sister, Lorraine Barrett.

Survivors include a daughter, Lyn Chenier and her husband, Lyman (Pete) Peters of Lake George; a son, Marc Chenier and his wife Darlene of Queensbury; two brothers, Robert F. Chenier of Ninilchik, Alaska, and Richard D. Chenier of Gig Harbor, Wash.; a sister, Eleanor F. Hume of South Glens Falls; two grandchildren, Sacha R. White of Prescott, Ariz., and Richard Curtis of Queensbury; many nieces and nephews; and beloved friend, Shirley Caron.

Walter has generously donated his remains to Albany Medical Center's Anatomical Gift Program for the advancement of medical research. There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brant Lake, with the Rev. Robert Limpert officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Walter may contribute to the Fort Hudson Nursing Center's Solarium Fund at 319 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

Carol (LaVigne) LaMar

PICKENS, S.C. -- Carol (LaVigne) LaMar, 58, formerly of West Chazy, died at her home on Jan. 24, 2006, after a long illness.

Survivors include her husband, Leon LaMar; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Lori) Holder and Mrs. William (Amy) Rhodes of Pickens, S.C.; and a grandson, Justin Rhodes. She is also survived by her mother, Leona LaVigne; and brothers, Russell and Pat LaVigne, Gary LaVigne, Michael and Becky LaVigne, Richard and Sue LaVigne, Albert and Debbie LaVigne, Neal LaVigne; and one sister, Mrs. John (Donna) LaMar.

She was predeceased by her father, Lyman LaVigne; and brother, Rodney LaVigne.

ERNEST P. RANGAZAS, 82, of St. Augustine, Fla., died Jan. 28, 2006, in Florida.

Calling hours will be held at the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua, N.H., on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., followed by his service at 10 a.m. in St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W. Hollis St., Nashua. The burial will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua.

JAMES J. MOUSSEAU, 57, of the Military Turnpike, Plattsburgh, died Feb. 3, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center with his family by his side, following a lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 21, 1948, the son of James and Marion (Garrant) Mousseau.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be at a later date at St. Peter's Cemetery.

BARBARA ANNE MOORE, 74, of the Quain Road, Brushton, N.Y., died Feb. 2, 2006, at her home. She had been in ill health.

She was born in Malone on Sept. 13, 1931, the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Anna (Lamitie) Moore.

There are no calling hours or funeral services. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Bangor, N.Y.
