Ursula H. Schlieter

PLATTSBURGH -- Mrs. Ursula H. Schlieter, 100, formerly of Robert Long Apartments, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Aug. 5, 1905, the daughter of Peter and Josephine (Bonneville) Varno.

Ursula had worked at the Strand Theater for many years and Merkels Department Store. She was a former member of the American Legion Post 20 Ladies Auxiliary. Ursula was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court 479, St. John's Church, the Rosary Society of St. John's Church and several senior citizens clubs.

Her parents, Peter and Josephine Bonneville; her husband, Hilbert H. Schlieter; a son, Hilbert "Dutch" Schlieter; a daughter-in-law, Frances Schlieter; and a daughter, Dorothy Branzell, predeceased her.

Ursula is survived by her grandchildren, Susan Schlieter and her companion Curtis Knight of Plattsburgh, Steven Schlieter and his companion Carol of Plattsburgh, Judy Granados and her husband Dino of Oswango, Md.; her great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jordan, Brooke, David, Danny, Dino and T.J.; and her great-great-grandchildren, Haley and David.

Calling hours will be Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

A funeral service will follow at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Floyd "Jerry" Bleaux, pastor of Our Lady of Victory Church, officiating.

Interment will be later in the year at St. Peter's Cemetery.

Friends wishing may make donations to the charity of one's choice.

Members of the Catholic Daughters and Rosary Society of St. John's Church are asked to meet Saturday at noon for services.

Nancy Ann Savage

MINEVILLE -- Nancy Ann Savage, 50, of Mineville, N.Y., died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She was born June 13, 1955, in Holyoke, Mass., the daughter of Edward and Juliette (Vermette) McEvady.

She was custodial supervisor for 18 years at Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vt.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Peter Savage of Mineville; her children, Pete Savage and his wife Shanira, Tammy Austin and her husband William, April Savage and Mark Savage; her grandchildren, Isaak and Zakhary Savage; her siblings, Edna Leitt, Sylvia Dagenais, Christine Trombley and Arnold McEvady; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is predeceased by her son, Christopher Savage; her father, Edward; and her brother, Walter Vermette.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 16, at the Church of All Saints, Mineville, N.Y. Spring burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Moriah, N.Y.

Charles B. Fox

LAKE PLACID -- Charles B. Fox, 67, of 496 River Road, Lake Placid, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake, N.Y.

He was born in Utica, N.Y., on Nov. 24, 1938, the son of Charles J. and Catherine (Fuchs) Fox. He attended Utica College and then went on to graduate with honors from the Aviation Cadet Program of the U.S. Air Force, where he was commissioned an officer as a USAF navigator.

On May 13, 1961, Charles married Carol Edwards at Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica, N.Y. They settled on Fish Hatchery Road in Rome, N.Y., where they raised four children.

Charlie was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base as a vehicle maintenance officer. He was also in the National Guard Active Reserve with the 174th Tactical Fighter Wing, Syracuse, N.Y. ("The Boys From Syracuse") until his retirement. For 23 years, Chuck and Carol worked together to build their own business, Natural Solutions, distributing Shaklee Products.

He was actively involved in St. Agnes Parish, Lake Placid, as a Eucharistic Minister and altar server. He was also a member of the Lake Placid American Legion Post 326. His favorite pastimes included riding his Harley and boating and kayaking on the Adirondack lakes. He was legendary for his willingness and ability to respond with his mechanical expertise to the needs of his family and friends. Chuck was a loving man who always put his family first. He and Carol provided unconditional love and guidance to their four children: Donna M. Sullivan (Steve), Jamesville, N.Y., Laura C. Bennett (Dave), Deerfield, Ill., Daniel R. Fox (Wendy Breloff), Lake Placid, N.Y., and Greg C. Fox (Rebecca), Schuyler Falls, N.Y. He was also a wonderful grandfather to Doug and Brad Bennett.

He was predeceased by two sons, Douglas and Dean; and a brother, John.

Calling hours will be at the Clark Funeral Home, 2310 Saranac Ave., Lake Placid, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be at St. Agnes Church on Monday at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Dept., or the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service.

Raymond A. "Sam" Pulsifer

PLATTSBURGH -- Raymond A. "Sam" Pulsifer, 66, of Adams Drive, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Bellmont, N.Y., on Dec. 15, 1939, the son of Floyd and May (Trudell) Pulsifer.

Raymond married Jerraine LaPoint on July 31, 1999, in Plattsburgh.

Mr. Pulsifer was a member of St. Peter's Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Raymond worked as a service technician for Sears for 37 years, retiring in 2001.

Survivors include his wife, Jerraine Pulsifer of Plattsburgh; two sons, Randy Pulsifer and his wife Mary of Plattsburgh and Timothy Pulsifer and his fiancée, Cassie Frank of Ft. Covington; one daughter, Mrs. Eric (Jane) Landry of Westville, N.Y.; one stepson, Randy Hilliker of Plattsburgh; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Todd (Cheryl) Rabideau of Plattsburgh; two grandchildren, Nathan Pulsifer and Vincent Landry; two stepgrandchildren, Shelby and Stephanie Rabideau; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by one sister, Margaret Hebert.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh.

Entombment will be in St. Peter's Columbarium.

Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or the American Heart Association.

Irene A. LaBombard

AUSABLE FORKS -- Irene A. LaBombard, 75, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born Aug. 23, 1930, on the Maicus farm, the daughter of Anthony and Jennie-Bell (Towner) Maicus.

She retired from Uihlein Mercy in Lake Placid. Irene and her husband Francis owned and operated Fran's Gulf Service located in AuSable Forks for many years. Irene enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially liked her recent trips to the casinos and New York City with her daughters, granddaughters and daughter-in-law.

She is survived by her children, Francis and Diane LaBombard of Peru, Victoria and Sam Palermo of Connecticut, Susan Goetz of Plattsburgh, Debbie and Randy Cassevah of Keeseville and Pamela LaBombard and her fiancé Chad Parrish of Keeseville. Irene had seven grandchildren, Frankie, Gina, Angela, Ed, Nicole, Harley and Tabatha. She also has eight great-grandchildren, Arthur, Brandon, Kaitlyn, Tieler, Alyssa, Bode, Kallan and Joshua; along with several nieces and nephews. Her brothers, William and Gordon Maicus, Carl and his wife Gayle Maicus, and Sidney and his wife Donna Maicus; and her sister, Eva Barton.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Francis R. LaBombard Jr.; her brothers, Raymond and Paul Maicus; her sisters, Doris Merrifield and Virginia Martin.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks. Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home. Father Phillip Allen, pastor of Holy Name and St. Matthews, will be officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the AuSable Forks Volunteer Ambulance Service or the Peru Fire Department.

Thelma Gretchen Favro

SHOW LOW, Ariz. -- Thelma Gretchen Favro, age 87, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at the RTA Hospice & Palliative Care Center in Lakeside, Ariz.

She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and grew up in Cadyville, N.Y. Following high school, she married her high school sweetheart, V. Gerald Favro, in Plattsburgh in 1936. They made their home in Cadyville, where Thelma was a homemaker. In 1953, they moved to Phoenix, Ariz., and in 1983 they relocated to Black Canyon City and remained there until moving to Show Low, Ariz., in 2005.

Thelma is survived by her husband, V. Gerald Favro, of Show Low; sons David A. Favro of Show Low and Ron Favro of Racine, Wisc.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Owens Mortuary in Show Low. Interment was on Wednesday, Jan. 11, in the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.

Eva L. Roberts

CONCORD, N.C. -- Eva L. Roberts, 82, of Concord, N.C., died Jan. 12, 2006, after a short illness.

She was born in Saranac, N.Y., on May 15, 1923, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Plumadore.

She is survived by two sons, Harley Roberts of Concord, N.C., and Raymond Roberts of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; one daughter, Rita Smart of Peru, N.Y.; one brother, Charles Plumadore of Saranac, N.Y.; four sisters, Elanor Ezro of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Ella Murcray of Keeseville, N.Y., Jeanette Taylor of Florida and Sophia Bosley of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Roberts, in 2004; and a son, James Roberts, in 2001.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.
