As her children began to grow and enter school, she found time to work, as a unit secretary, at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Her involvement with the Parent Teacher Organization at School 14 in Troy led Christine to pursue a career in education. She was employed by the Enlarged City School District of Troy, NY, as a teacher's aid, for more than 17 years, spending the majority of her time at School 14. Christine enjoyed antiquing, crafts, bowling, camping on the Schroon River in the Adirondacks, and traveling.

She was a lifelong member of St. Basil's Orthodox Church in Maplewood, N.Y., where she served as treasurer for a number of years. Her affiliation with the church also led to her involvement with the "R" Club, Chapter 54, (FROC) (FOCA), where she served as junior advisor and district junior advisor and was a member of the Senior "R" Club. In 1992, she and her husband were awarded the Meritorious Award, in recognition for their longtime and dedicated service to that organization.

Stephen Mack of Auburn, N.Y.; her nieces and nephews, Andrea Nichols of Mechanicville, Matthew Nystoriak of Melrose, Christopher and Tanya Mack of Auburn; her great-nephew, Thomas John Nichols. Also surviving are several cousins and many dear and special friends.

The funeral from the Parker Brothers Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, will be on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m. in St. Basil's Orthodox Church, Maplewood. A springtime interment will take place in St. Basil's Cemetery, Maplewood. Relatives and friends are invited and my also call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m., during which time the parastas service will be held at 7 p.m. Her love for family, friends and life, led Christine to courageously fight her illness, right to the end, while never losing hope. She leaves a wonderful example for all to follow. Her family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Basil's Orthodox Church Special Projects Fund, Archibald Street, Watervliet, NY, 12189 or to the Albany Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, 315 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, NY, 12208 in memory of Christine R.
