Abraham L. Collins

PERU -- Abraham L. Collins, 91, of the Cayea Road, Peru, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Saranac on Aug. 18, 1914, the son of Ben and Carrie (Ormsby) Collins.

His first wife, Hazel LaFountain died in 1980.

He married Wanda Rock in 1984 at the Peru Community Church.

Abraham worked at the Hazelton Saw Mill for six years, the Republic Steel Mines in Lyon Mountain, several farms in the area and worked for six years on road construction in Jay and Ellenburg areas. He also worked for Plattsburgh Stone Quarry as a dynamite handler and driller until his retirement in 1972. Abraham was a member of the Peru Community Church. He was an avid hunter and belonged to the National Rifleman Association. Abraham enjoyed playing the violin.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Collins of Peru; three sons, Robert Collins and his wife Judy of Saranac, Lincoln Collins and his wife Leda of Peru and Benjamin Collins of Peru; one daughter, Pauline Sousie of Troy; 30 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Eleanor Stone; four brothers, Odelle Collins, Benjamin Collins, Herbert Collins and Kenneth Collins; and three sisters, Marjorie Collins, Marquerite Collins and Ruby Arquette.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Peru Community Church. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery in Saranac.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

Helene E. Wrisley

DANNEMORA -- Helene E. Wrisley, 85, of Emmons Street, Dannemora, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Willsboro on Sept. 3, 1920, the daughter of Charles and Clara (Mitchell) Cross.

Mrs. Wrisley attended Willsboro High School. She married Charles F. Wrisley in Elizabethtown on Oct. 20, 1944.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Wrisley of Dannemora; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Gary and Judith Wrisley of Cadyville, William and Eilene Wrisley of Plattsburgh and Ronald and Rena Wrisley of Cadyville; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patti Dodson of Dannemora and Susan and Robert Kirkpatrick of Cadyville; one sister-in-law, Marie Cross of Willsboro; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one granddaughter, Tammy Lynn Wrisley; one son-in-law, Gary Dodson; and one brother, Charles Cross.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Lewis Cemetery in Lewis.

The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Deaths:

AVERY MACOMBER STAFFORD of Mount Airy, N.C., died Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at his home after a valiant fight with cancer.

He was born Nov. 10, 1931, in Peru, N.Y., to Walter L. Stafford and Cora Macomber Stafford.

Services were held in Syracuse, N.Y., on Saturday, Nov. 19, followed by burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Onondaga Hill, N.Y.

RAYMOND DALE MUNDY, 58, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005.

He was born June 7, 1947, the son of Jesse and Eva (Saffle) Mundy.

Funeral services were held at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005.
