Arthur R. Strack

PLATTSBURGH -- Arthur R. Strack, 66, of Military Turnpike, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 6, 1938, son of the late Harry and Orisse Strack.

Arthur was a dispatcher and driver for a local cab company. He enjoyed woodworking.

Arthur is survived by seven children, Richard and Darlene Strack of Sherrill, Michael Strack and his companion Deborah Giddings of Plattsburgh, Jonathan and Cindy Strack of Keeseville, Corby Strack and his companion Marta Muniz of Plattsburgh, Scott and Kimberly Strack of Malone, Craig and Linda Strack of Peru and Theresa Strack of Plattsburgh; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred Strack of Champlain and Louis P. Strack of Engelwood, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Arthur was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn; and two brothers.

Arrangements will be private at the convenience of the family.

Phoebe M. LaMar

PERU -- Phoebe M. Lamar, 88, of Pleasant Street, Peru, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Plattsburgh, April 11, 1917, the daughter of James and Mary (Besaw) Parrish.

Phoebe was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Peru and a member of the Peru Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 309 women's auxiliary.

Phoebe was a loving and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her family, cooking, canning and fishing.

Survivors include five daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and James Bola of Clintonville, Mildred (Millie) and Ronald Sears of Cadyville, Theresa and James Collins of Peasleeville, Bonny and James Devan of Peru and Linda and Gary Hamel of Peru; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Leon and Carol LaMar of South Carolina, John and Donna LaMar and Nancy LaMar of Peru; one brother; Raymond Parrish of Plattsburgh; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Leo W. LaMar, Dec. 23, 2004; two sons; Adrian LaMar, July 31, 1996, and Donald LaMar, May 14, 2002.

Callings hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, pastor, celebrating and Rev. William G. Reamer, CVPH Chaplain, concelebrating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Augustine's Church in Peru.

Deaths: 

EMEROY BURTON BARTLETT, 89, of Lake Shore Road, Chazy, died on Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point.

She was born in New York City on Sept. 25, 1916, daughter of the late Benjamin and Emeroy (Seymour) Burton.

Funeral arrangements will be private at the convenience of the family.

ANNE LORRAINE GURNEY, 80 of Whitehall, N.Y., died at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, after a long illness.

She was born in Whitehall on Oct. 24, 1925, the daughter of Douglas and Theresa (Barker) Beckwith.

Calling hours will be at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, N.Y., on Tuesday, Nov. 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Skene Street in Whitehall on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall.
