Lester Judson JoinerCROWN POINT, N.Y. -- Lester Judson Joiner passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord in the early morning hours of Tuesday, the 1st of Nov., 2005, at the Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid, where he had been a resident since the 24th of Jan., 2005. Judd was born in Ticonderoga, N.Y., on the 5th of May, 1941, to Lester and Jane (Forgette) Joiner. He graduated from Crown Point Central School in June 1967. Judd joined the U.S. Navy the 16th of Nov., 1967, serving on many ships during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he returned to International Paper in Ticonderoga, where he was a welder with the repair crew. Later he worked on the roll grinder. While at I.P., he was part of the MERT team, as he was a certified EMT with AE Phelps Fire and Emergency in Crown Point; also fire police with Crown Point. This part of volunteer work was a big part of his life. He is survived by his wife, Deanna (Gonyeau-Raker) of Crown Point; his daughter, Lisa Linery and her husband Kenny of Georgia; son Jason Joiner and his wife Rachael of Ticonderoga; stepdaughter Lizabeth J. Colvin and her husband Scott of Fort Edward; stepson Levi R. Raker of Franklin, Ohio; grandchildren Jarrett and Nickolas Bennett, Laurel, Benjamin and Lynell Colvin, Alexander and Derek Joiner; Judd is also survived by his sisters, DeLora Miles and her husband Bob, Sally Shambo and her husband Paul, Judy and Don Millington; brother Jeff Joiner and wife Kathy; half-brother Bill Tucker and wife Janet; his best buddy Ryder; and special friends Clark and Peg Towne, Gregg Trask and Grant Spaulding. He was predeceased by his parents, Lester and Jane Joiner; and two brothers, Kim Joiner and Gary Joiner; also special buddies Beacon, Hobbes and Blazer. Besides being a member of AE Phelps, he belonged to Rescue Lodge 772 of F&AM of Crown Point, American Legion Post 224 of Ticonderoga, the Coast Guard Aux - Division 15 - Flotilla 13 and the Quarter Century Club of International Paper Co. He enjoyed fishing, especially with his family. A very private service was held at Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry on Sunday, the 6th of Nov., 2005, with Gregg Trask and Jeff Joiner officiating. Services for Lester J. Joiner will be held on Saturday, the 26th of Nov., at 10 a.m. at the Brick Church in the Park at Crown Point. In lieu of flowers, please donate in memory of Judd to your emergency squad or fire department, as these groups meant a great deal to him and he spent a lot of his time with them. Thank you for all of your support at this time, at the close of his long road.

RUBENA M. "BENA" COLLINS, 70, of 100 West St., Malone,
died Nov. 11, 2005, at her home, while under the care of her family and
Hospice of the North Country.
She was born in Chateaugay on March 31, 1935, the daughter of the late
Grant and Stella (Dumas) Smith.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at
the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial
will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John Bosco Church in
Malone. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
