Theresa Helen LaPointe

PLATTSBURGH -- Theresa Helen LaPointe, 85, of Wolfe Way, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vt. She was born in Dannemora on April 24, 1920, daughter of the late Nelson and Nellie (LaRocque) LaJoie.

Theresa was employed by the Plattsburgh City School District as a Cook Manager, retiring after 22 and one-half years of service. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Parish and Our Lady of Victory Altar Rosary Society. She was a greeter for funerals at Our Lady of Victory Church. Theresa was a member of the Clinton County Area Ladies Club. She made lap robes and donated them to local nursing homes.

Theresa is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Helen L. and Rev. G. Edward "Ned" Bowden of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Donna Vasquez of Plattsburgh; two grandchildren, John Edward (Nancy) Bowden of Ohio, James Nelson Bowden of Ohio; four great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Rita Dugan of Syracuse, Frances Latinville of Plattsburgh, Veronica and Donald Rothermel of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law, Beverly LaJoie of Dannemora; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, John and Elizabeth (Peryea) Cummings.

Theresa was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred James LaPointe Jr.; a grandson, Justin Nathaniel Vasquez; her sisters, Aurore LaJoie, Valeda Duval; her brother, Lawrence LaJoie; her friends, Frances Peryea and Richard Peryea.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh with Rev. Floyd "Jerry" Bleaux officiating. Committal prayers will follow at the Chapel at St. Peter's Cemetery. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh. A reception will follow at Our Lady of Victory Parish Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Theresa's name may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

Chad W. Brunell

ALTONA -- Chad W. Brunell, 23, passed away on Friday, Nov. 11, 2005. He was born in Plattsburgh on March 25, 1982, son of Michael and Lenore (Miller) Brunell.

Chad attended Northern Adirondack Central School. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and followed NASCAR. Chad enjoyed spending time with his son. He was employed by Esposito and Son in Plattsburgh.

Chad is survived by his son, Devin Brunell of Ellenburg Center; his parents, Michael Brunell and Jody Deno of Plattsburgh, Lenore Miller of Rouses Point; a brother, Christopher Brunell of Rouses Point; paternal grandparents, Terry and Barbara Brunell of Altona; maternal grandparents, Eugene Miller Sr. of Altona, Gladys and Lee Carter of Ellenburg Depot; paternal great-grandmother, Marie Mitchell of Altona; maternal great-grandmother, Lillian Williamson of Albany; 11 aunts and uncles, Jeanne and Michael Bushey of Altona, Karen and Francis Tourville of Altona, Danny and Shawn Brunell of Altona, Jimmy and Kim Brunell of Altona, John and Karen Brunell of Altona, Thomas and Keitha Brunell of Mooers Forks, Edmond and Stacey Brunell of Altona, Eugene and Sheila Miller Jr. of Altona, Larry and Kelly Miller of Sciota, Gary and Charmaine Miller of Champlain, Billy Miller and Debbie Case of Plattsburgh; and several cousins.

Chad was predeceased by a brother, Michael Brunell, in 1976; and his aunt, Brenda Brunell.

Calling hours will be private at the convenience of the family. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at noon at Holy Angel's Church in Altona. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

William M. Zielinski

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. -- William M. Zielinski, 49, of Los Angeles, Calif., died suddenly on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, while walking near his apartment.

Born Jan. 6, 1956, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., he was the son of William H. and Doris (Lorry) Zielinski.

William (Bill) was predeceased by his parents and his grandparents, Peter S. and Valeda Blumette of Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Bill is survived by two brothers, Peter S. and Elyse Zielinski of Peru and John R. Zielinski of Plattsburgh; along with several nieces and nephews.

Bill graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1973. He attended New York University, then Suffolk University in Boston, Mass., where he graduated with a degree in economics. He enjoyed a long career in finance, that brought him to New York City, Chicago and finally to Los Angeles, where he was employed at ING Direct.

Bill enjoyed a passion for sports history that centered on baseball and hockey, always rooting for his New York Yankees and Montreal Canadians. He also had a great hunger for theological knowledge. That journey allowed him to experience many different religions and meet and have many good friends.

While Bill lived much of his adult life away from his hometown of Plattsburgh, N.Y., he enjoyed a vast knowledge of it's rich history and always called it home.

A short burial service will be held at St. Peter's Cemetery on Monday, Nov. 14th at 2 p.m.

For those who wish, donations may be sent to the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts, for the Strand Theatre renovation project.

Milton E. Broadwell

TUBA CITY, ARIZ. -- Milton E. Broadwell, 67, formerly of Cazenovia, died suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, in Tuba City, Ariz.

He was born Sept. 18, 1938, to Russell Broadwell and Carmen Darrah in Cadyville, N.Y.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for three years, stationed at Westover Air Base in Massachusetts and was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves serving in Desert Storm and Operation Joint Endeavor as a major.

Mr. Broadwell was a graduate from Orange County Community College in New York as a registered nurse. He received his certificate in nurse anesthesia from Albany Medical Center in New York. He then received his bachelor of science degree at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania and continued his education at Temple University, receiving his master's degree.

Mr. Broadwell was an avid educator of nurse anesthesia. He had been employed at the Syracuse Medical Center V.A. Hospital for seven years as an anesthetist. He served as a scout leader and unit commissioner for Pack 16 and Troop 18 BSA Revolutionary Trails Council in New York. He achieved his BSA Wood Badge Award, NE11116703.

Mr. Broadwell was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, traveling with his family and woodworking.

Mr. Broadwell is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; sons, James Russell Broadwell and Mark Edward Broadwell; daughter, Renee Colleen Broadwell; sister, Virginia Campbell; and three grandchildren.

He was predeceased in death by his son, Dwayne Scott Broadwell.

A celebration of life will be Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Cazenovia Methodist Church on Lincklaen and Seminary Streets.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the West Plattsburgh Union Cemetery.

A reception will immediately follow at the Comfort Inn in Plattsburgh.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cazenovia Methodist Church Building Fund or to the VFW of Erieville, c/o Robert Markowski.

The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

JOHN MADRID CLAY, 35, of Putnam Station and formerly of Ticonderoga, died Nov. 3, 2005, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center of Burlington, Vt.

He was born in Seminole County, Fla., on Sept. 21, 1970.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Anne Huestis will officiate. Burial will take place at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga.

JAMES C. MALARK SR., 59, of 113 Kay Rd., Malone, died Nov. 11, 2005, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. He had been at home under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.

He was born in Burke, N.Y., April 15, 1946, the son of the late James and Mary (Spinner) Malark.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
