Dorothy "Meme" BreanWEST CHAZY -- Dorothy "Meme" Brean, 86, of Fiske Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Altona, N.Y., on Aug. 7, 1919, the daughter of Art and Dora (Mayo) Myatt. Dot was raised on a farm on the Myotte Road where she met and later married her husband, Abraham "Abe" Brean, who was raised on the farm next door. Abe and Dot were married on Dec. 13, 1937, and were married for 53 years until Abe passed away in 1990. In between having 13 children, Dot worked at Georgia Pacific in Plattsburgh for 38 years as a machine operator. She also worked at the family owned grocery store, Brean and Deno's Country Store in West Chazy for 28 years, until it closed in 1996. Most recently, from 1996 up until a few months ago, you could find her serving up coffee and character behind the counter at Guma's Restaurant. She was truly a fixture and will be remembered by the many generations she served everyday. Besides her family, which always came first, she loved bingo, working hard, smoking, watching the Holy Land, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. These were simple things, but she took each one of them very seriously! Dot was a member of St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Survivors include 10 children, Carolyn Deno of West Chazy, Ann Garrant and her husband Earl of West Chazy, Charles "Bummer" and his wife Georgie of West Chazy, Thelma "Teddy" LaPierre and her husband Sheldon of West Chazy, Fred Brean and his wife Judy of West Chazy, Abraham Brean Jr. of West Chazy, John Brean and his wife Marsha of West Chazy, Rudy Brean and his wife Maggie of Gloversville, N.Y., Mary BuIriss and her companion Wayne Ducharme of Plattsburgh and Sherry Parrotte and her husband Scott of Silver Lake, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Shirley and Ludwig Gimber of Keeseville, N.Y.; a son-in-law, Alec and Anne McCadam of West Chazy; one brother, Ed Myatt of West Chazy; four sisters, Patricia Stein of Plattsburgh, Muriel Baker of Plattsburgh, Barbara Wood and her husband Wallace of Altona and Nora Myatt of Altona; 30 grandchildren; 54 great - grandchildren; nine great - great - grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one special family friend, Monsignor Lawrence Deno of Cadyville. Besides her parents and husband, Dot was predeceased by two daughters, Judy, who was a young child and Dorothy McCadam, who died in 1986; one son, Patrick Brean, who died in 1997; a son-in-law, George Deno, who died in 2004; four brothers, Mickey Myatt, Harry Myatt, Joe Myatt and Art Myatt; three sisters, Gladys Brean, Pauline Duprey and Jane Rabideau; and one grandson, Robert McCadam. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the West Chazy Fire Department Ambulance Fund. Sister Melvina GuayLITTLETON, N.H. -- Sister Melvina Guay, FCSCJ (S. Rose-Emile), a Daughter of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, passed away suddenly on Nov. 10, 2005, at the Littleton Regional Hospital, Littleton, N.H. Melvina Guay was born in Champlain, N.Y., on May 23, 1918. She was the daughter of Philip Guay and Rosa Mousseau. Melvina Guay professed her vows with her religious congregation on Aug. 9, 1939. During her 67 years of religious profession, Sister Rose-Emile served in various missions in Newport, Vt., Champlain, Morrisonville and Plattsburgh, N.Y., Colebrook and Littleton, N.H. Sister Rose-Emile was a dedicated educator and librarian, many times combining community administration with her school duties. She was an effective community leader as local community superior in her various missions, also functioning as provincial councilor for many years before being appointed as provincial superior of the U.S. Province in 1977-1983. After her years of administration, Sister Rose-Emile became archivist for the U.S. Province at the Provincial House in Littleton. Sister Melvina Guay was predeceased by her parents; her brother Alfred; and her sisters, Beatrice and Marguerite. Besides her sisters in the religious community, she is survived by two sisters, Alfreda of Altona, N.Y., and Frances Reid of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and a brother, Philip, of Pennsylvania; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Elizabeth J. KennisonPLATTSBURGH -- Elizabeth J. Kennison, 73, of Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center Skilled Nursing Unit in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on June 10, 1932, the daughter of George and Gladys (Matott) Barber. She was employed as a nurses aide at CVPH Medical Center for many years. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Joseph and Cindy Cook of North Carolina, Edward and Penny Cook of Altona and Michael Cook and companion Jo Laundry of Plattsburgh; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Marion Hart of Virginia Beach, Va., Claudia Provost of Boston, Mass., Susan and David Christiansen of Keeseville, Marjorie and Larry Waldron of Redford, Julie and Loyal Lapier of West Chazy and Mina and Bob Fleury of Peru; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Beverly Barber of Plattsburgh; a sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Bob Sanger of Florida; and several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Her husband, Raymond Rabideau; a daughter, Ann McKenna; and a sister, Anna Mae, died before her. There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Behan, 93, of Champlain, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point. She was born on June 18, 1912, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Lushia) Matott. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Anthony and Betty (Davies) Behan of Wallingford, Conn. Ernest and Ruth (Dupee) Behan of Champlain, Bruce Behan of Morgantown, Ind.; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Sharron and Leon Duprey of Mooers Forks, Sheila and Leonel Nephew of Mooers Forks, Gwendolyn Troville of St. Albans, Vt., Joyce Wood of Altona, Lillian and Thomas Wysko of Mooers; a sister-in-law, Margaret Gonyo of Chazy; and 105 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband, Thomas Behan, died in 1987. Her siblings and two sons-in-law, Bruce Troville and Emmett Wood, also died earlier. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Interment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Plattsburgh. Milton E. BroadwellTUBA CITY, ARIZ. -- Milton E. Broadwell, 67, formerly of Cazenovia, died suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, in Tuba City, Ariz. He was born Sept. 18, 1938, to Russell Broadwell and Carmen Darrah in Cadyville, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Air Force for three years, stationed at Westover Air Base in Massachusetts and was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves serving in Desert Storm and Operation Joint Endeavor as a major. Mr. Broadwell was a graduate from Orange County Community College in New York as a registered nurse. He received his certificate in nurse anesthesia from Albany Medical Center in New York. He then received his bachelor of science degree at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania and continued his education at Temple University, receiving his master's degree. Mr. Broadwell was an avid educator of nurse anesthesia. He had been employed at the Syracuse Medical Center V.A. Hospital for seven years as an anesthetist. He served as a scout leader and unit commissioner for Pack 16 and Troop 18 BSA Revolutionary Trails Council in New York. He achieved his BSA Wood Badge Award, NE11116703. Mr. Broadwell was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, traveling with his family and woodworking. Mr. Broadwell is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; sons, James Russell Broadwell and Mark Edward Broadwell; daughter, Renee Colleen Broadwell; sister, Virginia Campbell; and three grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by his son, Dwayne Scott Broadwell. A celebration of life will be Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Cazenovia Methodist Church on Lincklaen and Seminary Streets. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the West Plattsburgh Union Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow at the Comfort Inn in Plattsburgh. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cazenovia Methodist Church Building Fund or to the VFW of Erieville, c/o Robert Markowski. The R.W. Stella SheehyGUILDERLAND -- Stella Sheehy, of Guilderland passed away into heaven surrounded by her loving family at Albany Memorial Hospital on Tuesday evening. She was born in Mooers, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late Albert and Emma Nephew on Oct. 23, 1926, and then moved to Albany as a young lady. Stella raised her four daughters while working at various restaurants as a waitress, sometimes as many as four jobs at one time. She was employed by the Golden Fox Restaurant for 25 years where she made many lifelong friends. Stella was an avid golfer and enjoyed tennis and gardening. She spent many winters in Florida and her hobbies included playing cards, sewing, games, crocheting and traveling. She will be sadly missed by her loving family. Stella is the beloved mother of Nancy (Dick) Finley, Diane Yetto, Eileen (Mike) Aviza and Brenda (Michael) Burnett. She is the cherished grandmother of Rich (Dawn) Finley, Shoby (Tracy) Finley, Shelly (Adam) Peck, Skylar, McKenzie, Chloe and Spencer Aviza, Nick Warnken and Chantel and Mikyla Burnett. Great-grandmother of Robbie, Nathaniel, Dakota and the late Brooke. She is the sister of Carl (Catherine) Nephew, Eva (Charles) Drown, Ruby (Dick) Nephew and the late Irene, Leo, Wilmer, Lillian Bertha, Earl, Delsia, Pearl, Harold and Richard. She is also survived by many devoted nieces, nephews and loving friends. Special thanks to Dr. Joe Dudak and the staff of New York Oncology and Dr. Suzanne Boka and Cathy Katz. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, N.Y. She was born in Malone on March 2, 1930, the daughter of the late Kirby and Beatrice (Esseltine) Gonyea. Calling hours will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. LAPOINTE, 85, of Wolfe Way, Plattsburgh, died Nov. 10, 2005, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vt. She was born in Dannemora on April 24, 1920, daughter of the late Nelson and Nellie (LaRocque) LaJoie.
