Marjorie A. "Marge" McCartyPERU -- Marjorie A. "Marge" McCarty, 67, of Holden Avenue, Peru, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Ticonderoga, Feb. 23, 1938, the daughter of Thomas F. and Marion (Clark) Wisell. Marge was a 1956 graduate of Ticonderoga High School. While attending school she was employed at the Ticonderoga Sentinel where she worked as a Linotype operator. She married James J. McCarty, May 16, 1959, at St. Mary's Church in Ticonderoga. Marge retired February 2004 from Peru Central School, where she worked in the cafeteria for nearly 26 years. She was an active member of the Peru Lions Club and was the first female district governor for the Northern District 20W. Marge was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church, a member of the Plattsburgh Catholic Daughters and former member of the St. Augustine's Altar Rosary Society. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook and enjoyed traveling with the Lions Club. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, James J. McCarty Sr. of Peru; four sons and daughters-in-law, James Jr. and Cynthia McCarty of Plattsburgh, Thomas Sr. and Linda McCarty of Plattsburgh, John and Lynn McCarty of Keeseville and Robert "Stick" and Karen McCarty of Morrisonville; one daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Brian Clodgo of Keeseville; ten grandchildren, Megan, Thomas Jr. "TJ," Kenneth, Corey, Shayne and Kaitlyn McCarty, Thomas Loreman Jr., Samantha Loreman, Zachary Clodgo and Austin LaGrave; one sister, Geraldine Belden of Gainesville, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; one daughter, Susan McCarty; and one sister, Janice Ott. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with the Rev. Alan D. Shnob, pastor, celebrating and the Rev. William G. Reamer, CVPH Chaplain, concelebrating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center or St. Augustine's Church in Peru. Eileen L. PeckCHATEAUGAY -- Eileen L. Peck, 85, of Belle Avenue, Chateaugay, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, N.Y. Born in Burke, N.Y., on Dec. 6, 1919, she was the daughter of Clifford and Maude Cook. She was married to William H. Peck on Dec. 22, 1940, in United Methodist Parsonage in Ellenburg by the Rev. Tarling. He predeceased her on Nov. 5, 1989. Mrs. Peck is survived by seven children, Sharon Patnode of Endicott, N.Y., Fay Peck and her companion Dean Lamica of Peru, N.Y., Darcy and Timothy Brown of Gulf Coast Breeze, Fla., Darleen Peck of Chateaugay Lake, N.Y., Joele and Ronald Whalen of Ellenburg Center, N.Y., Darel Peck and his companion Barbara Sczepanski of Fairfield, Conn., and Lisa Peck of Chateaugay, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Cook of Burke, N.Y.; a close friend, Molly Filion of Chateaugay, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; three children, Frederick and Lois Peck and Marsha Barney; and a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Theresa Cook of Gilford, N.Y.; and a great-great-grandson, Steven Robert Whalen. Mrs. Peck graduated from Chateaugay High School in the class of 1948. She was a member of the Chateaugay United Methodist Church. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. AurilioPORT HENRY -- Paul J. Aurilio, 90, of Jackson Street, Port Henry, N.Y., died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at the Horace Nye Nursing Home, Elizabethtown, N.Y. Paul was born on Aug. 5, 1915, in Port Henry, N.Y., the son of the late Nicola and Maria (Salerno) Aurilio. He was a retired employee of Republic Steel Corp., Mineville, N.Y. He was a member of Port Henry Council 384, Knights of Columbus. He is survived by two sisters, Catherine Aurilio of Port Henry, N.Y., and Anne C. Fuller of Reno, Nev.; and one brother, Alexander Aurilio of Kirkland, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, John Aurilio and Samuel Aurilio. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. Memorial donations in Paul's memory be made to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad. Thomas P. Ward IISARANAC LAKE -- Thomas P. Ward II, age 57, of 230 Park Ave., Saranac Lake, died suddenly Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at his home. Born in Saranac Lake, N.Y., on April 14, 1948, he was the son of Daniel F. and Catherine (Williams) Ward. Tom was a 1966 graduate of Saranac Lake High School and was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the Navy Seabees. After his discharge from the service, he worked construction for Torrington in Plattsburgh and later worked for the Village of Saranac Lake. He worked for the family business founded by his grandfather, the Thomas P. Ward Real Estate and Insurance Agency, for 10 years. In early 1979, he opened Saranac Lake Discount Liquor, which he has operated for the past 26 years. He was involved in civic affairs and was Town of Harrietstown councilman for several years and a Saranac Lake village trustee. He was member and former chairman of the Harrietstown Democratic Committee and had been a member of the Village Democratic Committee. Tom was a board member and former secretary and president of the Saranac Lake Civic Center, was a member of the Pee Wee Hockey Association and was instrumental in establishing and maintaining the outdoor skating rink at the Civic Center. He was a member of the American Legion at the same time as his grandfather and father and was a former member of the Saranac Lake Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Tom was a loving and supportive husband and father who was involved in every facet of his family's life. He is survived by his wife, the former Susan Boula, whom he married June 26, 1971, in St. Bernard's Church; a son, Thomas O. Ward of Savannah, Ga.; a daughter, Colleen Burnah and her husband Joey of Bloomingdale; two grandchildren, Tyler Curry and Garrett Ward; one step-grandchild, Joey Burnah Jr.; two sisters, Catherine Burlew and her husband Leroy of Williamson, N.Y., and Anne Jennette and her husband Elwood of West Chazy; three brothers, Daniel Ward of Saranac Lake, James Ward of Jersey City, N.J., and Paul Ward and his wife April of Saranac Lake; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel F. Ward and his mother, Catherine Williams Ward; and his daughter, Susan Ward. Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Friday, Nov. 4, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Bible vigil will be said at 8:15 p.m., followed by a veteran's service. A Mass of Christian burial will take place Saturday, Nov. 5 at 11:15 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church, with the Rev. Jeffrey Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Saranac Lake. Friends wishing to remember Tom may make memorial contributions to the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad, the Pee Wee Hockey Association, or the Saranac Lake Adult Center in care of the funeral home. Gordon James WilliamsLAKE PLACID -- Gordon Williams, 78, died on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid, where he had been a resident since Aug. 27, 2002. Gordon Williams was born in AuSable Forks, N.Y., on April 27, 1927, the son of LeGrand and Florence (LeClerc) Williams. He attended elementary and high school in Lake Placid. He served in the U.S. Navy, assigned to the Seabees in World War II. A hunter, fisherman, and camper in his younger days, he spent his later years as an avid reader and was a heavy smoker for over 60 years. His employment was mostly in heavy construction as a painter and dry wall specialist for Theodore Stay & Son in Plattsburgh and Levitt Construction Co. in Lake Placid. From 1976 to his retirement in 1992, he worked in the maintenance department at the Holiday Inn in Lake Placid. On Jan. 2, 1948, he was married to Mildred "Millie" Norrie at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid. He is survived by his wife of 57 years; four children and their spouses, Michael G. and Martha Williams of Derwood, Md., Gladys "Susie" and Jon Barney of Lake Placid, Patti and Scott Osgood of Henniker, N.H., and Karen and Paul Pagano of Pleasant Valley, N.Y.; sisters Frances Stickle of Plattsburgh, Shirley Whalley and husband Garth of Sebring, Fla.; and brother Richard Williams and wife Bonnie of Oakwood, Ga. One sister, Catherine Geppner of Morrisonville, predeceased him. Eight grandchildren, Melissa Sorensen, Theresa Capps, Jonathan Barney, Heather Williams, Norrie and Jessie Osgood and Christine and Megan Pagano; and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Beckmann, also survive, as do his beloved cats, Ivory and Ebony. Calling hours will be held Friday, Nov. 4, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid, N.Y. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Demers, pastor of the Adirondack Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the North Elba Cemetery. MARGARET J. BASHAW, 90, formerly of North Bend Street, Peru,
died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in
Plattsburgh.
She was born in Montreal, Quebec, Nov. 22, 1914, the daughter of Samuel
and Agnes (Drysdale) Smith.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held Saturday from 9:30 to
11 a.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A funeral service will
follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Robert E. Svenson,
pastor of the Peru Community Church, officiating. Committal prayers and
burial will follow in the God's Acre Cemetery in Peru.
DONALD J. BRUSO, 77, of Spring Valley, N.Y., and New York City
died Oct. 25, 2005.
He was born in Scotia, N.Y., on June 4, 1928 to Venita and Elrick Bruso.
Arrangements were handled by Sniffen-Sagla Funeral Home in Spring
Valley.
A memorial service will be held for Donald on Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. in
Sciota, N.Y., with a reception to follow at Holy Angels Church Hall in
Altona.
BERTHA MAE LAROUCHE, 102, of Mercy Healthcare Center, Tupper
Lake, died Nov. 2, 2005, at the Healthcare Center.
She was born in Tupper Lake on Oct. 30, 1903, the daughter of Joseph
and Mary (Provost) Gauthier.
The family will greet visitors in the entrance of St. Alphonsus Parish
beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, followed by a funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Burial
will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
Arrangements are with the Richer Funeral Home, Tupper Lake.
ALICE (MOONEY) FOSS, 72, of Nashville, Ga., and formerly of
Lakeland, Ga., died on Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, at Fellowship Home in
Nashville.
She was born Aug. 25, 1933, in Clinton County, N.Y., the daughter of
Stella Violet (Hayes) and Harry F. Mooney.
There will be a memorial Mass held at St. Joseph's Church on the
Military Turnpike on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m.
