Loretta Rowe
WILLSBORO -- Loretta Rowe, 72, of 59 Spear Road,
Willsboro, died Oct. 18, 2005, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital.
She was born April 7, 1933, in Woodsville, N.H., the
daughter of John J. and Doris (Wilson) Fowler.
Loretta worked as a private home health care nurse for
years in Laconia, N.H.
She loved and enjoyed her family, especially her
great-grandchildren and was well known and liked by the staff at the
Elizabethtown Hospital and the Horace Nye Home.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Rowe of
Elizabethtown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Patricia Rowe
of Essex and Samuel and Susan Rowe of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter,
Elizabeth Rowe of Willsboro; six grandchildren, Rebecca Palmer, Sara
Foote, Robert Rowe, Kathleen Sayre, William Rowe and Ben Rowe; six
great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cati, Andrew, Patrick, Olivia and Anna; two
sisters, Gertrude Jordan of Laconia, N.H., and Audrey LaPointe of
Franklin, N.H.
A memorial service will be held for the family at a
later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the
Essex Rescue Squad.
W.M. Marvin's Sons Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
Hazel Marie
Bingel
LYON MOUNTAIN -- Hazel Marie Bingel, 76, formerly of
Keysor Street, Lyon Mountain died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at CVPH Skilled
Nursing Facility, Plattsburgh, N.Y.
Born in Lyon Mountain, N.Y., on Oct. 12, 1929, she was
the daughter of William and Rose (Primeau) Garrow.
She was married to Anthony Bingel on Sept. 2, 1950, in
St. Bernard's Church, Lyon Mountain. He predeceased her on April 24,
1981.
Mrs. Bingel is survived by two sisters, Lillian Gregory
of Ellenburg, N.Y., and Margaret Provost of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and
several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents;
four brothers, William, Richard, Louis and Francis Garrow; two sisters,
Leona Vidol and Julia Healey.
Mrs. Bingel was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church in
Lyon Mountain.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian
burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22 at St.
Bernard's Church. Burial will take place at St. Bernard's Cemetery in
Lyon Mountain. There will be a reception for family and friends at the
American Legion Home immediately following the burial.
Donations in Marie's memory may be made to St. Bernard's
Church.
Arrangements are through the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
Mary G. Dolly
Aug. 29, 1932-Oct. 18, 2005
ELIZABETHTOWN -- Mary G. Dolly, 73, died at CVPH in
Plattsburgh after a brief illness.
Mary had been widowed from her high school sweetheart,
Norris J. Dolly, several years earlier.
Mary was a loving mother of six children, Del Dolly and
his wife Jeanne of Gouvenour, Jerry Dolly and his wife Donna of Glens
Falls, Mary Sue Wolson and her husband Charlie of Port Henry, Linda
Dolly and her husband Kevin McKee of Elizabethtown, Sara Mehr and her
husband Dr. Peter of Westport and Barbara Milstein and her husband Mark
of Saratoga Springs.
Grandma Dolly, fondly dubbed "Grandma LaLa" by
one of her granddaughters, is survived by 15 grandchildren; and a
great-grand child to be born in February.
Mary, a woman of deep devotion, served as a trustee at
the United Church of Christ and was a member of the women's fellowship.
She was a welcome face for many years at the library in Elizabethtown,
was co-owner and secretary of Schroon Lake Tractors, as well as a
reporter/photographer for the Valley News.
Generous with her time, Mary volunteered at the
Elizabethtown Community Hospital, the Town of Elizabethtown, served on
the board for the Arts Council for the Northern Adirondacks and for a
local literacy program. Other organizations and activities include past
president of the Elizabethtown-Westport Garden Club, Eastern Star, prom
queen, awarded the 4-H Golden Horseshoe and a member of the Baggetts.
Mary frequently said she had been blessed by a wonderful
family and circle of friends. She had lived a life bigger and richer
than she had ever imagined, and was fortunate to have been able to
travel to many places. She said she could go at anytime and God wouldn't
owe her a thing.
A memorial will be held in celebration of her life at
Marvin's Funeral Home in Elizabethtown on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the
Congregational Church of Christ, Stone Church, on Court Street in
Elizabethtown.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations
be made to the Elizabethtown Library and the United Church of Christ in
Elizabethtown.
Robert J. Casselman
LOUISVILLE, N.Y. -- Robert J. Casselman, 88, of State
Highway 131, Louisville, N.Y., died Saturday morning, Oct. 15, 2005, at
his home under the care of his family and Hospice.
Mr. Casselman was employed by Alcoa as an electrical
supervisor.
Funeral services were held Monday 3:30 p.m. at the
Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Calling hours were held Monday, Oct.
17, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 3:30 p.m. with the
Rev. Curtis Denny presiding. Interment took place in Brookside Cemetery,
Waddington.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of
St. Lawrence Valley or the American Heart Association.
He was born June 30, 1917, in Morrisburg, Ontario, the
son of Robert and Lottie (Styles) Casselman.
He married Theresa Cox Oct. 11, 1932, at St. Columban's
Church in Cornwall, Ontario.
He was a member of the 25 Year Club at Alcoa, an avid
boater and past member of the Massena Yacht Club for many years. He was
a member of the Masonic Lodge 513 and the Media Shriners and Massena
Shrine Club.
The Masonic Lodge 513 held a service Monday at 3 p.m.
and the Eastern Star Cretona Chapter 516 held a service at 3:20 p.m. at
the Phillips Memorial Home.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa; a daughter and her
companion, Mary Ellen Casselman and Kay Branagan of West Chazy, N.Y.;
six grandchildren, Matthew Casselman of Massena, Rebecca Casselman of
Charlotte, N.C.; Bridget Kahn of Pueblo, Mexico; Gabrielle Kahn of
Boston, Mass., Akvia and Fasharra Branagan of West Chazy.
Arrangements were handled by Phillips Memorial Home,
Inc, 64 Andrews St., Massena, N.Y.
Deaths
JOYCE A. MANOR, 68, of the Alder Bend Road in
Altona died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at the Albany Medical Center in
Albany.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the
Brown Funeral Home in Altona.
MARGARET MCLAUGHLIN, 79, of Franklin Ave, Saranac
Lake, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Adirondack Medical Center.
She was born in Troy, N.Y., on May 23, 1926, the
daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Blessing) Gage.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough
Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, from 6 to 9 p.m. A funeral
service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with the
Rev. Mark Demers officiating. Burial will be in Old St. Bernard's
Cemetery.
