Obituaries
Freeman S. Chase
PLATTSBURGH -- Freeman S. Chase, 87, of the Military Turnpike, Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Peru, Sept. 24, 1918, the son of Leonard and Cora (Sibley) Chase. Freeman served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from July 7, 1942, until his honorable discharge, Feb. 10, 1946. He married Elsie L. McKee, April 17, 1947, in Wilmington. He retired from Peru Central School, where he was employed as a bus driver. Prior to that he worked for the Chevrolet Dealership in Peru and owned and operated Chase's Auto Hospital in Plattsburgh. Freeman enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, harmonica, horseshoes, Carrom and listening to country music. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elsie L. Chase of Plattsburgh; two sons, Doug and Kathryn Chase of Plattsburgh and Larry Chase of Plattsburgh; two grandchildren, Chad and Nichole Chase of Plattsburgh; one sister-in-law, Florence Chase of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Clarence Chase, Wayne and Bernice Chase and Leonard and Mildred Chase; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ila and Alton Ritchie and Lula Chase. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A funeral service will follow at noon at the Hamilton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth I. Hinman, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Plattsburgh, officiating. Committal prayers, full military honors and burial will follow in the Schuyler Falls Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Church of the Nazarene Plattsburgh Building Fund.
Deaths
LEON F. WHITNEY, 33, of 422 Patterson St., Ogdensburg, N.Y., and
formerly of Malone, died unexpectedly Oct. 14, 2005, at the Claxton-Hepburn
Hospital in Ogdensburg, N.Y.
He was born in Malone, Aug. 28, 1972, the son of Larry and Mary (Wood)
Whitney.
Calling hours will be Monday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the
Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John Bosco Church in Malone. Burial
will be in the parish cemetery.
