Frederick Philip McMurtry

CROWN POINT, NY -- Frederick Philip McMurtry, 82, of McMurtry Road, Crown Point died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at the Moses Ludington Nursing Home in Ticonderoga, N.Y.

He was born Nov. 16, 1922, in Crown Point, N.Y., the son of Frederick and Edith (Meachem) McMurtry.

He married Pearl (Gage) on Sept. 15, 1944.

He was born and lived his entire life on McMurtry Road in Crown Point, N.Y. He was a self-employed logger and a bus driver for the Crown Point Central School. He also worked for the Town of Crown Point and the Green Thumb Program. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rescue Lodge 772 Free and Accepted Masons, Crown Point Senior Citizens and a former member of the Mountain Do'ers Square Dance Club.

He is survived by his wife Pearl; his sons, Donald and wife Maureen McMurtry of Peru, N.Y., and Ronald McMurtry and his fiancée Jeanne Duval of Crown Point; a sister, Frieda Hillick of Chamont; his grandchildren, Scott and wife Tera McMurtry of Colorado, Beth and husband Adam Conway of Florida and Hope, Shawn and Hannah of Indianapolis, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Imogene and Charles Litchfield, Faith and Ray O'Neil and Rylan Hillick; also two grandchildren, Eric and Heidi McMurtry.

Family and friends may call on the family at their residence on 95 McMurtry Road, Crown Point on Thursday, Oct. 13 after 3 p.m.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Crown Point Methodist Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Crown Point, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made to the Crown Point Methodist Church.

Beverly A. Gardner

MERRILL, N.Y. -- Beverly A. Gardner, 70, of Merrill, N.Y., died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, N.Y.

Born in Ellenburg, N.Y., on March 1, 1935, she was the daughter of Louis and Corrine (Burgoyne) Dupree. Her father predeceased her on Nov. 25, 1996.

Mrs. Gardner attended Chateaugay High School. She married Joseph Allister Ouimet on Oct. 30, 1954, in Chateaugay. Their marriage ended in 1973.

She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 12 years, retiring in 1982 after serving Burke, Brainardsville and Chateaugay, and also the 1980 Olympics.

She married Richard Gardner on Feb. 12, 1982.

Her greatest joy was her children and family life and she took great pleasure in making a loving home for all of them.

Mrs. Gardner is survived by her husband of 23 years; her mother of Malone; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Greg and Tracy Ouimet of Chateaugay, N.Y., Ricky and Mimi Ouimet of Lynchburg, Va., and Randy Ouimet and his fiancee Cathleen of Lompoc, Calif., and Barry and Amy Ouimet of North Bangor, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Rose and George Douglas of Chateaugay, N.Y., Marcia and Karl Ashline of Grand Isle, Vt., Nancy Ashline and her companion Paul English of Chateaugay, N.Y., and Debra and Randy Davies of Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Louis "Bud" and Manya Dupree Jr. of Chateaugay, N.Y.; three stepsons, James Gardner and his wife Kelly of Altamont, N.Y., Joseph Gardner and his wife Jo Ellen of Albany, N.Y., and Adam Gardner of Balston Spa, N.Y.; and six stepgrandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 13 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14 in St. Patrick's Church with Rev. John Demo, officiating, assisted by Rev. Eleanor Bellows. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chateaugay.

Donations in her memory may be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

William H. Shaw

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. -- William H. Shaw, 37, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.

Born on Oct. 2, 1968, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Harold Shaw of Olmstedville and Hosuk Na of Queensbury.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls where he was an active leader in their youth group and its many activities.

He graduated from Minerva Central School in 1987 and was a graduate of the Mildred Elly School.

William was employed by the Town of Queensbury as a technology coordinator for seven years.

William enjoyed skiing, mountain biking, computers and photography but his greatest enjoyment was the time he spent with his family.

He was also a past member of the Minerva Fire and Rescue Squad.

William was predeceased in death by his maternal grandparents, Pok Nam Lee and Kab Joung Choi; and his paternal grandparents, William Shaw and Dora Shaw.

Survivors include his wife, Tracy Shaw of Queensbury; his children, Jeremy Shaw and Celyna Shaw of Queensbury; his mother, Hosuk Na and stepfather Hyun Na of Queensbury; his father, Harold Shaw and stepmother Nancy Shaw of Olmstedville; a sister, Lisa Persons and her husband Doug of North Creek; two nieces, Rebecca Persons and Rachel Persons of North Creek; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 1 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, at the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls, Glen Street, Glens Falls. Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited and may call from 4 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send a remembrance in his name to First Presbyterian Church, Youth Groups, 400 Glen St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

HAZEL E. DUBRAY, 88, of Lyon Mountain, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at her residence in Plattsburgh.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lyon Mountain Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Lyon Mountain Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery in Saranac.

ANN NETTIE LAZORE, 67, died on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at the Champlain Valley Physician's Hospital in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Ann Nettie (Cole) Lazore was the daughter of the late Mary Cole-Jacobs.

Resting at the Ganienkeh Mohawk Territory, Longhouse via Altona, N.Y., from 7 p.m. Wednesday until 9 a.m. on Thursday, thence to the residence of Ronald and Debbera Thompson, Cornwall Island from 4 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, in Kanienkehaka Kaiencrenkowa Kanonsesneh (Long House), Hogansburg, N.Y., at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Longhouse Cemetery, Cornwall Island. Funeral arrangements under the care and direction of the Lahaje & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West, Cornwall, Ontario.

ALICE M. MYERS, 85, formerly of Cumberland Head, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at Meadowbrook Nursing Facility.

She was born in Amsterdam, N.Y., on Sept. 27, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Bennett) Walsh.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery.
