Robert C. Obert

PLATTSBURGH -- Robert C. "Bob," "Peanut" Obert, 66, of Wall Street, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 28, 1938, son of Joseph A. and Bertha (Blake) Obert.

Robert was an avid fisherman. He had been employed by Don G. Orchards for 38 years. Robert loved life and his family. He was very active in Our Lady of Victory Academy.

Robert is survived by his wife, Linda (Miller) Obert of Plattsburgh; two children, Elizabeth (Obert) and Dellor Van Valkenburg of West Chazy, Robert C. Obert II and his companion Priscilla Baker of Plattsburgh; a brother, Michael and Shirley Obert of West Chazy; four grandchildren, Anthony Van Valkenburg, Meagan Van Valkenburg, Tyrell Obert and Gregory Obert; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Laura Morrow; two brothers, Adolar Obert Jr. and Joseph Obert.

Calling hours will be Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, from noon to 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, from Our Lady of Victory Church at 2 p.m.

Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Helen M. Nephew

WEST CHAZY -- Helen M. Nephew, 91, of Fiske Road died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005 at CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Mooers Forks on Aug. 10, 1914, the daughter of John and Agnes (Miller) LaValley.

Helen married Benjamin Nephew in 1933 at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Benjamin died in 1980.

Mrs. Nephew was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the Altar Rosary Society of West Chazy.

She worked in packing and shipping for Delegar Corporation for 18 years, retiring in 1988.

Survivors include three sons and four daughters-in-law, Edward and Joyce Nephew of Lady Lake, Fla., Roger and Donna Nephew of West Chazy, Steven and Connie Nephew of Chazy Lake, and daughter-in-law, Doris Nephew of West Chazy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Benjamin King of Chazy Lake and Theresa and Joe Baker of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Irene Nephew of Plattsburgh and Mildred Percy of West Chazy; 21 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sons, Lawrence Nephew and Bernard Nephew, and one daughter, Carolyn Nephew.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Deaths:

JUIDTH GALAMIAN, 96, of County Route 10, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital.

She was born Nov. 4, 1908, the daughter of Cap Johnson.

No services are planned. A full obituary will appear at a later date.

W.M. Marvins Sons funeral home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements.

SHIRLEY J. BASHAW, 69, of Station Road, Owls Head, N.Y., died Wednesday morning, Sept. 14, 2005, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, N.Y., she had been a patient there since Sept. 7.

Born in Saranac Lake, N.Y., June 20, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Garnet and Helena Boyea MacDonald.

Calling hours will be Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Owls Head. Burial will be in St. Helen's Cemetery in Chasm Falls, N.Y.
