Mary H. NewtonTICONDEROGA -- Mary H. Newton, 86, of Mt. Hope Avenue, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at the Horace Nye Nursing Home of Elizabethtown. Born in Ticonderoga, Oct. 23, 1918, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Downey) Donahue. Mrs. Newton was a lifelong resident of Mineville and Ticonderoga. She has been a resident of Ticonderoga for the past 30 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga and was a former member of the Catholic Daughters, Court of St. Mary's 794. Mary was an avid golfer. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold L. Newton on Sept. 27, 1992. She was also predeceased by five sisters, Marie LaFountain, Florence LaFountain, Helen Tompkins, Evelyn Phinney and Agnes Pierce; and by two brothers, James Donahue and Michael Donahue. Survivors include two sisters, Alice Carey of New Port Richey, Fla., and Blanche Brown of Port Henry. She is also survived by three nieces and two nephews. Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. The Rite of Committal will follow at the family plot of St. Patrick's Cemetery of Port Henry. Doris L. GeboCUMBERLAND HEAD -- Doris L. Gebo, 89, formerly of 4 Firehouse Lane, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Chazy on April 6, 1916, the daughter of Alfred and Carrie (Pronto) Brothers. Mrs. Gebo married the late George W. Gebo at Our Lady of Victory Church, Jan. 17, 1935. They rode a motorcycle sidecar outfit to the church during a snow storm to be married at the Rectory. Mr. Gebo died Nov. 15, 1993. Following her marriage, she became a kind and loving homemaker and loved to cook and spend weekends preparing special dinners for her family. She enjoyed needlework especially embroidery. For many years, she and her husband owned and operated Gebo's Harley Davidson Sales and Services on Cumberland Head. In 1937, she joined the American Motorcycle Association and enjoyed group rides with their friends, in the Adirondacks Riders Motorcycle Club. Mrs. Gebo was also a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church, The Altar Rosary Society, AARP and RSVP. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Dianne) Cook and Mrs. Earl (Judy) Burnell, all of Plattsburgh, and Susan Gebo of Cadyville; four grandchildren, Mrs. Craig (Carrie) Favaro, Mrs. Matthew (Lori) Sames and Kevin Cook, all of Plattsburgh, and Kenneth Cook Jr. and his wife Nancy of Cicero, N.Y.; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Kenneth and Robert Brothers; three half brothers, Raymond, Nicholas and Perlie Fesette; four half sisters, Sadie Parrott, Ethel Niles, Elizabeth La Gier and Mamie Oliver, all died earlier. Private calling hours will be held for the family. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's of the Lake Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory, may be made to Hospice of the North Country. Earl I. Nyman IIPLATTSBURGH -- Earl I. Nyman II, 51, of ETC Circle, entered new life on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Reading, Penn., on Oct. 26, 1953, son of Earl I. and Christine (Calcasacco) Nyman I. Earl was an active member of AA where he sponsored many recovering alcoholics into AA and brought them into the Church. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church where he was a lector and a soup kitchen volunteer. Earl is survived by his soul mate and constant companion, Ellen Perreault of Plattsburgh; his mother, Christine Nyman of Norfolk, Va.; two brothers, John R. and Jean Ann Nyman of Reading, Penn., and Reginald D. and Marcia Nyman of Myers Town, Penn.; three sisters, Patricia Ann Nyman of Shillington, Penn., Earlene Coyner and Mark Linn of Norfolk, Va., and Christine C. Nyman II and Jerry Calhoune of Hampton, Va.; his three beloved cats, Scruffy, Sneakers and Elmo; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, N.Y. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 18 Trinity Place, Plattsburgh, N.Y. at 10 a.m. Earl was the man with the biggest heart in the world. His heart was bigger than his body and his struggle of pain throughout the years was an example of courage to all of us who knew and loved him. Ellsworth R. JackstadtPLATTSBURGH -- Mr. Ellsworth R. "Yockie" Jackstadt, 86, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on June 13, 1919, the son of Rudolph and Elizabeth (Chartier) Jackstadt. Ellsworth graduated from St. John's High School and received his bachelor's of science and master's of science from SUNY Plattsburgh. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. Ellsworth served as general secretary at the Plattsburgh YMCA from 1946 to 1961 and was active in many civic groups and was named Citizen of the Year for Plattsburgh. He then taught school at Lake Colby School in Saranac Lake, N.Y., and Northwood School in Lake Placid, N.Y. "Yockie" was an active volunteer at the Olympic venues for many years. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hiking, skiing and canoeing with the Northwood School Outing Club. He also enjoyed playing cards and socializing with friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Rudolph and Elizabeth Jackstadt; a brother, Vernon Jackstadt; a grandson, Grant Jackstadt; and a nephew, Drake Jackstadt. He is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Mark and Judy Jackstadt of Arlington, Texas, Kirk and Lita Jackstadt of Dallas, Texas, and Eric and Mary Jackstadt of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; his aunt, Agnes Chartier of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law, Marie Jackstadt of Albany, N.Y.; his long-term caregiver, Virginia Jackstadt of Lake Placid, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Sara Jackstadt of Arlington, Texas; Elizabeth Theeman and her husband Michael of Plattsburgh, Peter Jackstadt of Plattsburgh, Kate Jackstadt of Plattsburgh and Susan Jackstadt of Plattsburgh; one nephew, Kris Jackstadt and a niece, Mary Jackstadt Garrity, both of Albany, N.Y. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations in his memory may be made to the Plattsburgh YMCA. Pearl KellyWILLSBORO -- Pearl Kelly, 89, of 2 North Main Street, Willsboro, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital. She was born March 21, 1916, in Westminster, Vt., the daughter of Thomas and Cora (Dinnette) Lambert. Pearl taught 411, Sunday School and volunteered at the Well Baby Clinic. She won several gold medals from the Senior Olympics in bicycling and enjoyed cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Pearl enjoyed her family, friends and her church very much. Her husband, Francis Kelly died in 1987. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Anita Ross/Massina and Sam Massina of Watervliet, N.Y., Joan and James Dunn of Richmond, Va., and Gail and Gary Head of Sharpsburg, Ga.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Peter and Jan Kelly of Clifton Park, N.Y., Edward and Alicia Kelly of Essex, N.Y., and Michael Kelly of Richmond, Va.; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Janet and Bill Young of Round Lake, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at W.M. Marvin's Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Funeral services will be held Friday at l0 a.m. at the Essex Community Church in Essex, N.Y. Burial will be in Willsboro Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Essex Community Church.

BARBARA E. MERCIER, 81, of the Moffitt Road, Plattsburgh, died on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born in Swanton, Vt., on Nov. 24, 1923, daughter of the late Charles and Carrie (Prouty) Boomhower. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
