Norma Marie BarberTICONDEROGA -- Norma Marie Barber passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She resided with her son, Keith in Ticonderoga. Norma was 79. Norma was born on Jan. 18, 1926, in Ticonderoga. She was the daughter of the late Norman and Pearl (Denno) Nadeau. Norma attended schools in Putnam and Ticonderoga and worked in the kitchen of Moses-Ludington Hospital for three years. In 1945, Norma married Francis Barber and together they operated a dairy farm in Putnam for 35 years. Francis died in 2001. Norma was a member of the Putnam Firemen Ladies' Auxiliary and helped organize the "Crazy Auctions" in Putnam. She was also a member of the Putnam Daisies Basketball Team. In addition to her parents and her husband, Norma was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Nadeau; her infant sister, Joan; and a loving granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Barber. Survivors include her son, Keith Barber of Ticonderoga; three grandchildren, Kyle Barber and his wife Sally of Hendersonville, Tenn., Aletta Sanders and her husband Craig of Hanover, Mass., and Keith M. Barber and his wife Kellie of Weymouth, Mass.; five great-grandchildren, Chandra Sanders, Michael Barber, Jaigh Sanders, Braeden Sanders and Keith Barber Jr. Norma is also survived by five sisters and two brothers, Sheila Witherbee of Ticonderoga, S. William Nadeau and his wife Patricia of Ticonderoga, Katherine Charboneau of Ticonderoga, Barbara Reeb of Ticonderoga, Cecile Evans and her husband Ralph of Westport, Norman Nadeau Jr. of Kinderhook and Donna Leavens of Ticonderoga; and her special friends, Pam Carr, Nancy Kish and Jean Rayno. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, Sept. 14th from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin Street, Ticonderoga. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Thursday, Sept. 15th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ticonderoga. The Rite of Committal will follow at the family plot of St. Mary's Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga. Donations can be made to the Putnam Volunteer Fire Company or the Ticonderoga Emergency Squad in Norma Barber's name. A gathering to celebrate the life of Norma Marie Barber will be held at the Carillon Restaurant in Ticonderoga, following the funeral on Sept. 15th from 1 to 4:30 p.m. All are welcome. Phoebe WhisherFRANKLIN FALLS -- Phoebe Whisher, 85, of Gillespie Drive, Franklin Falls died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, N.Y. Born in AuSable Forks, N.Y., on July 24, 1920, she was the daughter of Richard and Dora (Reil) Snow. Mrs. Whisher was a lifelong resident of the area. She was employed for various business including the Saranac Lake General Hospital in the laboratory for many years. She also had provided assisted living and home health care at her home for many years. She loved gardening and her animals. She enjoyed the company of her many good neighbors, especially Alice and Pete, Mary and Carl, Pam and Nancy. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Whisher of Canton, N.Y.; her daughter-in-law, Amy (Keough) Whisher of Canton, N.Y.; her daughter, Linda McCasland of Lake Placid, N.Y.; and her son-in-law, Norm McCasland of Lake Placid, N.Y. She is also survived by two brothers, Leonard Snow of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Emerson Snow of AuSable, N.Y.; three granddaughters, Jessica (Whisher) Hehl of Manlius, N.Y., Roberta Bates of Lake Placid, N.Y., and Deborah Bates of Bloomingdale, N.Y.; and three great-granddaughters, Courtney, Kayla and Christine. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 65 years, Francis Whisher in 2002. Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Patrick O'Reilly officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in AuSable Forks at 2:45 p.m. Friends wishing to remember Phoebe Whisher may make memorial contributions to Tri-Lakes Humane Society or Meals on Wheels of Saranac Lake in care of the funeral home. Cecil W. GillettNEVADA -- Cecil W. Gillett, 85, of Pahrump, Nev., died Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at the Life Care Nursing Center in Las Vegas, Nev. He was born in Lyon Mountain, on Oct. 3, 1919, the son of Oley and Lorretta (Wright) Gillett. Cecil attended both Saranac and Dannemora schools. He joined the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. He was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 357, Schenectady and the Plumbers and Steamfitters United Association Local 7 of Albany. He married Theresa Favaro on Aug. 1, 1940, at the Methodist Church in West Plattsburgh. Mr. Gillett was a plumber by trade and worked for Diamond National following World War II. He then worked at A.J. Ekert, Plumbing Contractors in Albany, N.Y., where he was superintendent over all activities. Survivors include his wife, Theresa Favaro Gillett of Nevada; two daughters, Mrs. Jean (Harry) Marenbeck of Bremerton, Wash., and Mrs. Betty (Stephen) Mekis of Chyenne, Wyo.; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Kennedy of Zephyrhills, Fla.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Henry Gillett on Oct. 25, 1993. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at the Cadyville Protestant Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Masonic Burn Hospital, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Kyle Robert GarrowBRAINTREE, Vt. -- Kyle Robert Garrow, 16, died Sunday evening, Sept. 11, 2005, in Brookfield, Vt., following a motor-vehicle accident. He was born Feb. 18, 1989, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the son of Robert and Linda (Trombley) Garrow. He had lived in Plattsburgh until moving to Randolph in 2001, where he was currently a junior at Randolph Technical Career Center. Kyle was working at LED Dynamics in Randolph and enjoyed four-wheeling, snow machining, snowboarding and his car. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Robert and Betty Garrow of Braintree; his mother and stepfather, Linda Spooner and her husband Burton Spooner Jr. of Randolph; grandmother, Geraldine Trombley of Cadyville, N.Y.; half brothers, Robert Garrow Jr. of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Burton Spooner III of Williamstown, Vt.; half sister, Lisa Garrow of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Saints Donatian & Rogatian Catholic Church in Randolph with Rev. John Milanese, officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Randolph. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

DONALD E. DUFFANY, 84, of Margaret Street, Plattsburgh, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born on July 13, 1921, son of the late Edward and Eva Duffany. Calling hours will be held Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. from the funeral home chapel. GRASER, 70, of Hague died suddenly on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center of Burlington, Vt. He was born in Trenton, N.J., on July 3, 1935. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will take place Thursday, 11 a.m. at the Hague Wesleyan Church. The Rev. Russell Bissell, pastor, will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.
