Evelyn Genier Donahue

MORIAH -- On Sept. 10, 2005, Evelyn Genier Donahue was called home to be with our Lord and her loved ones whom God had called before her.

Evelyn was born Evelyn Louise Genier to John and Josephine Genier on Aug. 1, 1912.

If you knew Evelyn, you were loved by her. She embraced life with great love and could always enjoy a good laugh.

Evelyn's greatest pleasures were her family and friends, along with her "little cottage" in which she welcomed all. Being a self-taught person in so many fields gave her great pride. Her cooking was her family's enjoyment. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, quilting, painting, sewing, crocheting, knitting and reading -- especially about history.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward, cherished son, Ronald, as well as loved ones including her mother, father, one sister, five brothers and a son-in-law.

Survivors include her son Norman and his wife, Lorraine, of Keeseville; her daughter Joan and her friend, Don, of Moriah Center, and her daughter, Patricia and her husband, Victor, of Queensbury. Her sister, Gen, resides in Ballston Lake. Evelyn also leaves behind eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. All will hold her close in memory in their hearts -- until we meet again.

Funeral arrangements are with the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. Calling hours will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of All Saints in Mineville by Msgr. John McAvoy, assisted by Deacon Elliot Shaw. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Moriah. Memorial donations may be made in Evelyn's name to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad.
