PLATTSBURGH — Mrs. Elaine M. Dewey, formerly of Bailey Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility.

She was born in Champlain, N.Y., the daughter of William and Gertrude (Gauthier) Picard. Elaine graduated from Champlain High School and Troy Business College. She was a communicant of St. John's Church, a member of the Altar Rosary Society of St. John's Church, The Catholic Daughters of America Chapter 479, the Regina Maria Retreat League, the Monday/Wednesday Bridge Club, the Senior Citizens Council, AARP, Golden Age Club, The Interfaith Food Shelf, Seniors Walking Club and a former member of the Mother's Club, Junior League and the Garden Club.

Elaine was predeceased by her parents, William and Gertrude Picard; her husband, George F. Dewey; a sister, Gladys Picard; and three brothers, William, Cleo and Arthur Picard.

She is survived by two daughters, Lee M. Girard and her husband Bernard of Plattsburgh and Mary Ann Ayotte and her husband Robert of Plattsburgh; a son, William Dewey and his wife Charlene of Plattsburgh; a brother, Elmer Picard of Plattsburgh; a sister, Phyllis Parmeter and her husband Ronald of Plattsburgh; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Monsignor Joseph Aubin officiating.

Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Friends wishing may make donations to The Interfaith Food Shelf or Hospice of the North Country. Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
