Victor S. "Vic"
Corron
PLATTSBURGH —
Mr. Victor S. "Vic" Corron, 87, of the Spellman Road in
Beekmantown, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2005 at Meadowbrook Health
Care Facility with his daughters by his side.
He was born in
Clayburg on March 15, 1918, the son of Charles and Celina (LaFountain)
Corron.
He was a veteran
of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army as a platoon sergeant. He
spent four years in the European Theatre 4th Infantry, 22nd Battalion,
Company C. He was present at the invasion of Normandy at Utah Beach, the
Battle of the Bulge and the liberation of Paris. He received the Bronze
Star, two Purple Hearts and numerous other commendations.
He was a charter
member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Thomas F. Duffy Post #1466 in
Beekmantown and was a member of the American Legion Post #20.
He had been self
employed as a farmer and a foreman for Fletcher Murnane Construction
Company. He later worked and retired from Beekmantown Central School
after 33 years. He enjoyed watching TV, reading, Expos baseball,
building, bowling, tinkering, animals, taking care of his home and yard
and spending time with his family.
Vic was
predeceased by his parents, Charles and Celina Corron; a brother, Remie
Corron; his sisters, Agnes Myers, Anna Manley, Lela "Lil"
Provost and Flora "Cassie" Fountain.
He is survived by
his wife, Florence (Lucia) Corron of Beekmantown, whom he married June
17, 1947; two daughters, Carletta Corron of Beekmantown, Nancy Corron of
Beekmantown; his granddaughter, Wendy Fresn of Albany; a sister,
Florence Botten of Plattsburgh and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will
be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
At Victor’s request, a private funeral service will be held from the
Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Members of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1466 are asked to meet Wednesday at 6 p.m.
at the Brown Funeral Home for services.
Friends wishing
may make donations to the Elmore SPCA or the St. John’s Feral Fund.
Willis A. Ross
CROWN POINT —
Willis A. Ross, 75, of Crown Point, passed away Friday, Sept. 2, 2005 in
the arms of his son, Randy, at the family homestead on Hogback Road.
Willis was born
April 29, 1930 in Crown Point, the son of the late Albert Ross and Eva
Ross Lindeman.
Willis retired
from International Paper in Ticonderoga after 40 years of service.
He was a veteran
of the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart during his tour of
duty.
On June 28, 1952,
he married Patricia Sheehan. Together they raised three children.
Survivors include
his wife, Patty, one daughter, Cindy Ross Collins and husband, Michel,
of Union, Maine; one son, Randy and wife Elizabeth of Ballston Lake, and
one daughter, Mindy Ross Bremer and husband, John, of Newark.
Grandchildren are
Shawn Collins, Kristi Collins, Nicole Ross, Dustin Ross, Loren Ross,
Kayleigh Bremer, Kristin Bremer and Ashley Bremer; two
great-grandchildren, Mayme Stone and Michael Ross; four brothers, Arnold
Ross, Carl Ross, Robert Ross and Joseph Ross; three sisters, Gloria
Tubbs, Donna Spaulding and Shirley Beach and several nieces and nephews.
Willis was
predeceased by five brothers: Wesley, Ernest, Donald, Harold and
Richard, and one sister, Flora Thatcher.
A mass will be
celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Crown Point on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Crown Point Ambulance
Squad, Main Street, Crown Point.
Robert A. Ahern
SARANAC — Robert
A. Ahern, 83, of the Redmond Road in Saranac died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005
at his home.
Arrangements are
incomplete and will be announced by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.
